#29 of Patreon Reward Vignettes

First vignette for FA: KobalttheWolf

Kobalt wanted to do a video game kind of thing with his character using his powers to take down a dragon, who is the boss of the dungeon he's been soloing. His next vignette will be a direct followup to this with vore!

Contains: Game Mechanics, Stylized Violence, Implied Vore

This was written as a reward for the $15 and $25 tiers on my Patreon! Again, people who pledge $1 or more can vote on polls. $5 or more you can add to the suggestion doc, which is where the ideas that get voted on on the polls come from. Wow, one third of my recipients of the Reward Vignettes are at the higher tier! I'm humbled by the support.

Right now, the new installment of Apex City and all of May's vignettes are available to read for Patrons!

If you'd rather have more complete control of my creative output, consider commissioning me! If you'd rather just support me and don't want to commit to a monthly donation, I have a Ko-Fi.

Kobalt casually stowed his blades, allowing them to flatten back into markings in his fur on his forearms. He dusted off his arms and sleeves of the stone dust that had settled onto his garb. The blue and white stag turned to glance over his shoulder as the bodies behind him de-spawned in a shower of particle effects.

On the side of his vision he saw the XP rush in, along with the gold and a potion or two. He wouldn't have paid it any mind at all, except that it put him over the edge to the next level. Kobalt continued down the corridor, sure that this was the last chamber, where the boss lay.

The deer turned to walk into the darkened room. When nothing changed immediately, he surveyed the space. It was a broad room with stone walls and flooring. There was a dark shape on the opposite side of the chamber, a bit too dark to make out clearly. Kobalt turned his attention to the floor. There was an open space down a few wide steps that made up nearly the whole side of the room he was on, and about halfway across the lowest level gold coins scattered, growing more frequent until they were forming a mound on the way up the other set of steps, obscuring them entirely.

Pretty confident in what he'd be dealing with, Kobalt casually walked along the top step as he picked up a few glowing items that lined the wall. He stopped at the corner and closed his eyes. The inventory screen came up, as he expected, and he adjusted a few presets, changing out his loadout based on what he was expecting.

The stag opened his eyes and walked back to the entrance of the room casually, before taking the steps down to the open space. The shape on the other side of the room stayed still. He shrugged and confidently strode forward until he reached the coins.

A pair of braziers on the far wall ignited, making the dragon on the gold quite obvious. At the same time, the dragon reared up with a cascade of gold coins from his wings. Taking a moment to strike a powerful pose, the boss stayed rampart, before crashing back down to all fours, facing Kobalt entirely. The great beast growled aloud, eyes focused on the intruder.

Kobalt rolled his eyes. It wasn't even close to the most intimidating dragon he'd come across on his quest. The deer gestured out to the side with one hand. "Scan." Time seemed to stop for a moment as data appeared within the adventurer's view. The dragon's health bar appeared above the great drake's head, as well as a list of resistances, weaknesses and immunities. Kobalt scoffed. "Midlevel at best. Why is this in the new raid?" He dropped the scan screen, allowing time to resume.

The dragon wound up obviously, telegraphing his move blatantly before he swiped out with a claw at where Kobalt stood.

The deer deftly back-stepped with plenty of clearance. "I won't even have to use my blades for this." Kobalt grinned. While the dragon settled into his follow-through animation, the stag reversed direction, boots pounding on the stone. He leapt, and from his back an ethereal fixed wing appeared, small glowing boosters at either end. Their ignition powered his jump even higher, and he wound back his fist. He dispelled the wings to allow himself to drop, timing the punch for impact.

Kobalt grunted, spinning around on his wings after a pair of kicks to the side of the dragon's head, following through with an ax kick to the temple.

Unlike the fairly subdued strike sounds that had filled the stag's ear the entire fight when he made a hit, this let out a sharp clack, definitely an extradiegetic element. Above the dragon's head, bright orange letters spelled out the word 'PRONE' as the boss was knocked to the floor.

Hovering a moment on his wings, Kobalt grinned, before letting himself drop lightly to the floor next to the dragon's head. He had about ten seconds to capitalize on this status, during which the dragon would be unable to move or attack.

The deer strode closer and crouched. He put a paw on either side of the dragon's muzzle, grinning at the dazed expression on the boss. "It's a cheese strat but..." He licked his lips as he stood up, forcibly lifting the drake's head from the floor as if he was made of styrofoam. "Cheese is delicious."

Kobalt gaped his jaws and forced them over the far larger muzzle.
