"Man, what level are you at right now?" Red asked, looking on as her friend moved her character around in-game, only stopping to check the map every now and then.

"Halfway through level 75. Gonna take me quite a while still to get to 80, considering how it's only the main story quests and dungeons that are giving me any major experience points!" Riley responded. She had been playing through Final Fantasy XIV for quite some time now, slowly working her way through the game and its many expansions. She was halfway through the current expansion, and she was doing everything that she could to progress quickly enough to the next part of the storyline.

"Eesh, that's some dedication for you!" Red chuckled good-naturedly as she watched on - she was into Final Fantasy herself, but for the moment she was content to simply observe. Not that she minded all that much - it was fun all the same, and with everything going on, just being able to spend time with Riley was enough. The moon was starting to rise, but neither woman noticed or cared, as beautiful as it was.

"Well you know me, I'm not one to half-ass this kind of stuff!" Riley laughed. "Trying to find something else to do alongside the quests, though, I've already done the dailies for the bonus experience you get from dungeons... maybe there's some FATE's nearby that's got something that might provide a good chunk of experience, I've still got to do a couple of those to get the weekly experience bonus from that!"

"I'd have thought you'd have done that as soon as the reset happened?"

"Sometimes I do, but it's boring doing all the low-level ones, they barely give you much in terms of experience if they're just trash mobs. A lot of the times I'll look for boss events and hope that there are people around to do those with!"

"Why wait? I'm sure you'd be able to do it on your own, right?"

"If this weren't an MMO, I'd be able to do it. Considering they scale your level back, and that they're essentially boss battles outside of a dungeon, I'd be pulverised if I attempted to do it myself!"

"Ah, I get ya. Hopefully you'll find someone to do it with, then!"

"Maybe you might one of these days? Could help you level up, get through content... stuff like that. No skin off my back to help out."

"Mmm... maybe. I mean, this sort of thing is a pretty big time commitment, right? I don't want to get too sucked in. No offense, because this IS pretty neat. Probably never thought their game would go for this long."

Riley chucked as she continued along - she knew she could get Red playing the game, it was just a matter of giving her a reason to really want to. The interest was there, but the spark hadn't yet ignited. But with so much to do and so many different races, there was a way. She knew it.

After around twenty five minutes and constant map checking, a fresh FATE appeared on the map, the fifteen minute timer starting as soon as it appeared. Riley checked the information for it, and immediately took interest. "Oooh, this one looks promising - I just hope some people show up for it!"

"What is it?" Red asked.

"If the information's correct, it's a battle against a Behemoth. Those things REALLY don't mess around, so you normally only find them in dungeons or FATEs." She told her, using the in-game teleport to bring herself to a waypoint that was closer to the timed event.

"Oh, I've heard about those things. Aren't they like brick walls of muscle and stuff?" Red thought for a moment or two - the name wasn't exactly foreign for her. She'd seen plenty of art of them in the past, but the design did change occasionally. Still, it would make for an interesting encounter if her friend was right. And some part of her was definitely hoping for that. Outside, the moon rose higher still, bathing the house in some odd moonlight, the screen flickering for the barest of moments, out of their perceptions.

"Alright, it looks like enough people are showing up to try to fight it!" Riley beamed. "This ought to make for a fun battle!" She waited for the others to announce they were ready, eager to join in the frey herself. As they confirmed they were ready to go and charged in to attack, the screen flickering grew brighter, the beast turning its attention to its would-be assailants.

As the behemoth charged at the people, the fight began as the massive wall of muscle and fur snarled, its lips pulled back in a chilling expression of complete and utter fury. It wanted a fight and a fight there would be. Music began to take on a much more epic turn as the party began its struggle. Riley smiled in spite of the risk - it was a challenge she aimed to defeat.

"I wonder how long it'll take for you to defeat it?" Red asked.

"With this many people, hopefully not too long - long as they know what they're doing and what to avoid, we should have this done in a few minutes!" Riley replied, focusing on the battle at hand. There was a healthy mix of different classes, among the bunch doing considerable damage was an Au Ra Samurai and a Hrothgar Summoner. Between everyone's combined efforts, the beast's health was quickly dropping. "I think we've got this in the bag!" She grinned.

The behemoth's health was almost at zero, a couple more good attacks would put it down. Before the finishing blow was dealt, it let out a loud, defiant roar, the screen flickering wildly as it was slain, the game appearing to glitch out momentarily.

"Whoa, was that supposed to happen?" Red quirked an eyebrow as the glitch happened, the screen freezing as the behemoth vanished entirely from the game, much to both women's surprise. Glitches weren't unheard of, but this was a new one to Riley. Irritation did begin to settle in when she realized there wasn't a reward. It wasn't fair - to beat something and be denied simply because there was a glitch?

"Well, that was fucking bullshit."

"Aw man... maybe you could send in a support ticket or something?" Red suggested. "I mean you weren't the only one fighting it, so the others playing are more than likely gonna send a complaint in too, right?"

"I suppose that would be the right thing to do..." She responded. "As long as they at least give some form of compensation or something!"

"Yeah! You totally should - you kicked that thing's ass! Pulverized it!" Red slammed a fist into her palm as the moon rose, which began to have a not-too-inconsiderable effect on the two women alongside the glitch. Red's blood was fired up with the thought of conquest and fighting big monsters, and she was also starting to feel more than a little turned on by the thought too. She would definitely get the game... and fuck some monsters. Up, she thought, but banging a behemoth didn't seem like a bad idea either.

"Oh?" Riley turned to her. "Where did that little outburst come from?" She couldn't help but smirk at Red's unexpected little outburst. The two friends were bathed in the moonlight that filtered into their room, their bodies warming up. "Can't say I've seen you get this worked up about seeing me fail at something before!"

"I... fuck, I don't know why. But it felt damn good to get all worked up. Gotta say, though... Behemoths do look kinda hot...."

Red chuckled as she fidgeted with her jacket a little, the garment feeling a bit more snug than it used to. Unseen, though not unnoticed, her muscles began to steadily bulk up, packing more and more power into her frame as purple fur began to grow.
