Chapter one.

(Story Commission)

Dan was right in the middle of a busy week. Wednesday and the human scientist hadn't delivered any updates on his projects back to the supervisor. The man had a chemistry Bachelor and about three years of experience in his job field, but none of that seemed to be enough to get Dan in the position he wanted to be and used to dream about back when he was a college student.

But Dan was now running late on his projects, and the man was working on them in a hurry. Shortly after leaving the room, the towering Human would step back. It was fast. A diminutive, light explosion happened right after Dan turned off the Bunsen burner. However, an easy walk from one room to another to the Human wasn't so easy for the Mouse girl since she was forced to move inside the apartment walls.

The particular path the little Rodent would need to take to get into Dan's bedroom wasn't a direct one. The whole path took her about thirty minutes to cross.

By the time the small Mouse made it into the Human's bedroom, she had found Dan asleep on his bed, although She noticed the man was sweating and decided to approach the Human to check if he was ok. The girl knew it was a high-risk idea, but given how hard she had fallen for him, the female Mouse decided it was worth the risk.

It took the Rodent some extra minutes to climb down from the hole inside Dan's bedroom. Unlike the other one in his lab room, this one was located closer to the rooftop and well above the room. The girl didn't want to be caught by the Human, and neither wanted to stumble upon his furniture, risking breaking anything or leaving behind signs that could indicate her presence. But, by the time she was stood on top of the nightstand, Dan woke up.

Standing on the nightstand by the side of the bed, there was a mouse, but the being was unlike any other animal Dan had ever seen before in his life. The young scientist answered as he went to the edge of the mattress close to the tall furniture. A small gap separating the bed from the bedstand, it wasn't a problem to Dan. The man simply took some steps back, running before jumping to the surface of the night table.

"Good job! Now, the climbing."

The Mice girl yelled from below as she observed the whole action. Dan walked to the edge of the nightstand. As the man looked down, he immediately felt a vertigo sensation. Maybe that was a good moment for him to tell Tani about his fear of heights. A three-store fall is not exactly enough to kill, but definitely, enough to leave the Human injured. Tani yelled once again at the male Human.

"I see."

Not wanting to let the girl waiting, Dan began to climb. Using his hand and feet, the doll-sized Human was using the adornments around drawers as supports. Dan climbed down the first drawer just fine, but the young man began to slow down while climbing the second. By the time he was about to place his foot on top of the adornment of the last drawer, Dan had committed the mistake to stop and look down. The poor scientist's head began to whirl, his hand became weak, and the Human lost his grasp.

"Dan!"

"It shouldn't be a long walk now that we can walk freely on the floor and through the hall. The main entrance is at the kitchen, but there is another one in your lab's room."

The doll-sized couple started their journey through the large apartment. "For a dream, the level of details is surreal."

The Human spoke out loud to himself, but Tani was able to listen, and as she did, she immediately stopped to stare at the boy's face.

"A dream?"

Dan felt a cold sweat running down his forehead. He didn't know if telling her that would make him wake up or not. He definitely didn't want to wake up.

"Well, yeah... what else could it be?..."

Tani felt slightly disappointed. But she understood the man might still be confused thanks to the explosion.

"Ah... follow me!"
