#18 of Gamer Diaries: Skyrim

Hello all and happy Friday! Here is some more Gamer Diaries for you to sink into. And I've been considering releasing chapters twice a week instead of once a week. Given the length of these shorts, it doesn't take long to come up with new content and I have a ton of stuff on backlog. Granted, having a backlog means I'm not scrambling to get content out on time. But I'm also wondering if it wouldn't hurt to speed things up just a tad.

I'll mull it over during the weekend and see what I come up with.

Happy reading. This is a non-profit fanfiction. The Elder Scrolls and Skyrim are registered trademarks of ZeniMax Media Inc.

Part XVII: The Next Stage

The trip to Ivarstead was uneventful, thankfully. It didn't take long to find Gunmar as he was outside a nearby cave fending off the biggest bear I had ever seen. One arrow at the beast's back and it gave him the opening he needed to finish the job.

Gunmar wasn't too pleased with Isran when I mentioned him. Typical. Of course, he would leave out the part where he had a falling out with the people he asked me to track down.

And I thought I had terrible social skills.

The moment I mentioned vampires, Gunmar was on board--after we killed the rapid bear preying on travelers. Between the three of us, it wasn't even a contest and no one even got hurt. That was one down.

As I was searching the cave for any more bears, I came across a large orb. It was too well-made to be natural. The moment I touched it, a voice spoke to me. It demanded I obey and return the "beacon" to Mount Kilkreath and banish some evil that had taken over a temple. I didn't recognize the voice and it didn't respond, so I ditched the beacon and left.

I took a shot in the dark and asked Gunmar about Sorine. He told me she was looking up dwarven ruins in the west. Where, he didn't know. It was something at least.

As we poured over the maps to figure out a plan to search the Reach, I discovered that the final amulet piece was nearby. It explained why the other two pieces had been vibrating so strongly. It was as if these things were eager to rejoin.

I might actually be making something terrible here. This amulet damn near destroyed a kingdom and that was when it was fragmented.

I would worry about it later. I wasn't selling this thing anyway, and after some of the stuff I had seen, every little extra piece of power would be helpful.

The night's sleep I was looking forward was interrupted by Khash shaking me awake. When I asked what was wrong she said, "You were talking in your sleep. And then..."

She seemed really uncomfortable all of a sudden as she pointed to something in front of me.

Tha beacon I had ditched in the bear cave was lying in bed next me. This deity wasn't taking "No" for an answer.

Fuck my life.
