I woke in the circle of Donovan's arms. He sat up, running fingers through my head fur while I looked up at him, a little dazed and confused. What had happened last night? I had flashbacks and smiled when I remembered. Reed's smile matched mine as he leaned down and kissed me, a gentle good morning. The bedroom was warm, warmer than usual. No. No it wasn't the bedroom that was warm. It was me and Donovan that were warm. The full moon's light would shine down on us tonight and we'd be lost to the desires, emotions and overall thoughts that were crammed inside our minds. Donovan kissed my forehead and slipped out of bed. He headed for the bathroom. I sat up and watched Donovan walk naked to the bathroom door. The door shut and the sound of rushing water sounded. I gazed across the bedroom at the mirror and saw my fur was curled at the tips from where I'd slept on it wet. It made look almost fluffy, adorable some would say, but what I needed was a wash and some clothes, maybe some breaskfast too.

I looked around the room and wondered where Snow was. I slipped into some boxers and stepped out of my bedroom. I padded around and soon found the weretiger standing in the kitchen, the kettle looked boiled as he stood. I watched him stand there, sipping coffee and still found it wierd when wereanimals did normal humans things like drinking cups of coffee and reading newspapers in the morning. He looked up and found me watching him. A grin spread his lips as I walked toward him. He was wearing a pair of denim three-quarter-lengths and a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled back and his chest peeking through the white material where he'd left it unbuttoned. The clothes must have been from Donovan again. He held out his other arm and I cuddled in against him, his arm surrounded the back of my neck as his lips touched mine. A chaste touch to say good morning, just like Donovan had.

"You sleep well?" he asked in that deep voice.

"Not to begin with, but I managed in the end."

"You bound yourself to Donovan then?" he asked. I nodded. "And I don't think our bond is broken. So I'm happy."

I smiled back at him and kissed him again. It was a thank you for being so reliable and understanding. "What made you get up and get coffee?" I asked.

He smirked and leaned back against the countertops, I stepped in front of him, his arms embraced me, the line of his body pressed against me from behind as he placed his cup down and snuggled me. "I took a morning swim. Kane showed me around, and explained where everything is earlier on."

"Kane did?" I asked.

"I think he likes me."

"Likes you?"

"Not sexually, but he likes me as a person."

"Kane's never done the induction to the penthouse before. You must be special."

"That, or he's happy someone came along and gave you what you wanted. He and Donovan have told me what it was like before I rampaged and we were bound."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"He told me that you liked Donovan and Kane, that much was certain, but relationships were not prohibited with Reed, and Kane just isn't that kind of wolf."

"He's explained to me before that he's all about fun, and loves the company of males, but doesn't like the idea of being bound like you or Donovan."

"Are you worried what your new talents might mean for your relationship with Kane?"

I thought about that. He had a point. Kane hated the idea of being bound to any one person. Would this effect us? "I have no idea," I admitted.

"Time will tell, I suppose."

"Your a deep thinker, you know that."

"I think I've always been like this. Don't know for sure, but its help me ignore the fact I have no memories prior to our encounter." He grinned, but there was a sadness there.

"You hate having amnesia, don't you?"

"I'm anxious if anything."

"How come?"

"What if I regain my memories and find out I'm not the kind of person I am now. What if I'm a hateful bastard outside these walls?" he looked anxious now.

"I doubt your anything like that, Snow." I stroked his forearm fur as I spoke. "Please don't think like that," he said.

"Fair enough." He cuddled me closer and then purred deep in his chest.

Our cuddle was suddenly interrupted when Bishop came bursting into the kitchen. He was panting and looked more haggard than usual.

"Where's Donovan!" he demanded.

"My bathroom. Why?" I asked.

"Fuck! Someone go get him! There's another news report! Its local!" Bishop explained. Silence fell as Snow and I stared at Bishop in disbelief. So much for Snow being the last rampaging wereanimal.

Moments later we were all in the lounge. Bishop had found Kane along the way, and now we were all sat and standing in the lounge, looking up at the television report.

In the early hours of the morning, a youth named Zeke Houston rampaged a retirement village outside of LA. He was a werelion and said to have just wandered onto the site and began massacreing the people there. It was a while before anyone realised that people were being killed, and in time police showed up and restrained the youth. He turned on them and slaughtered the authorities in seconds, a gunner team was called in and the youth was gunned down at dawn with silver ammunition. An investigation has been started, as the youth was a registered member of the LA Lion Pride, under the command of a werelion named Maximillian. It is believed Maximillian has had his entire Pride put under the eyes of the authorities and have been put under house arrest for the time being. Maximillian was taken in for questioning, but later released later this morning.

We'll have more on this breaking report when we have established it. Now in Texas, a man has managed to tame squirrels....

"Fuck!" Kane breathed as he gazed up at the television.

Donovan never spoke, he just disappeared into the kitchen. No doubt to phone Maximillian himself.

"Snow must not have been the last one then?" I murmured, looking down at the floor now, concerned about this damning report. Now what did we do? The massacres were on home soil.

"We wait and see what Maximillian has to say on the matter. Zeke lived under the same roof as Maximillian and the other lions. If there was anything strange, they'd have noticed," Bishop said.

"Either way we're fucked. Its only a matter of time until Walker's Law is abolished," Kane sneered as he paced the room in front of the blank television now.

"Walker's Law will remain absolute, for the time being at least," Bishop assured him.

"Look at what's happening, Bishop! That was massacre number-fucking-eight!" Kane growled.

I eased back on the couch, hands clasped at my head. This was so bad. I felt a hand squeeze my knee, I looked and found Snow sat there, looking warm and pleasant beside me. He was cool, level-headed. I envied him of that. If these massacres were now in LA, not to mention there had been almost two attempts in LA, then perhaps this was where the one responsible was now dwelling. It made sense I suppose. The perpetrator moves around the states, causing a massacre in each state he lands in, until he arrives here and stays here. How many more massacres would there be? Someone needed to be stopped. Whether it be the ones wreaking havoc, or whether it be the ones responsible. Either way, it needed to be stopped, and soon too.

Donovan soon returned, looking grim.

"What's happening?" I asked.

"Max reckons that Zeke was fine, moody but fine. He went out and never came home. Then Max had a knock on the door in the early hours and his home was raided by the police."

"To what purpose?" Bishop demanded, looking offended now.

"They looked around, and then put the whole manor under house arrest. No one was to leave until they'd been cleared of charges. In the meantime Maximillian was taken in and questioned. When nothing new was discovered, they asked Max to identify Zeke's body. Max has been told he can bury the young lion in a week or so. The house arrest is supposed to last during the full moon. The authorities want to take no chances. Some of the raiding police panicked when they saw the werelions in lion form. Its amazing some people still believe that we can transform back and forth whenever we want." Donovan walked across the hardwood floor and fell into the seat on the other side of me. He relaxed and lay across the seats, his head braced in my lap as he stared up at the ceiling. The towel he'd donned since the shower was threatening to loosen as he gazed across the room, and out the windows over the warm LA beyond. The skies were blue as midday neared.

"What are you worried about?" I asked. I ran a hand over his head fur, while he looked forelorn and anxious now.

"Of all the animal groups to choose from, why did this person, or phenomenon choose our allies?" he murmured.

"Coincidence," Bishop said.

"Or a planned tactic," Kane added.

"I agree with Kane. I don't think this is some phenomenon, I think someone's decided to make LA their base of operations. We're the only place thats had nearly two massacres."

"What do we do now?" Kane asked.

"We need to ascertain what's happening. And I need to contact someone abroad," Donovan sat up as he spoke.

"Do you intend to call them?" Kane demanded, looking defiant now.

"You mean the council?" I added, looking concerned now. Donovan nodded.

"But to call them would mean inviting them here, inviting them into our homes." Kane growled the last as he tensed up.

"Would that be so bad? We've talked about bolstering our defenses, surely having beasts that powerful around, even for a while, would be benefitial?" I asked.

"You have no idea what these people are capable of!" Kane snarled now. He looked furious. His shield to hide behind was anger.

"Then tell me what they are capable of?" I replied, looking defiant. Snow squeezed my knee again, a reminder that Kane was a friend, not a foe.

"The council are old, you know that much, but can you imagine what that age has done to their minds. They live like true beasts do, and would come here, look into the problem, and then look into us."

"Moreover, they would take great interest in you, Eben." Donovan sounded like he was warning me now. Snow tensed beside me.

"What do you mean?"

"Look at what you achieved last night. You bound yourself to an alpha like you were his Lupine, not to mention you bound yourself to another alpha or another species altogether." Kane smirked, "None of these have been done before, and considering how old and experienced these people are, they will consider you unique and special. Something to be looked into, experimented upon, some would say. You'll be tested, looked at close. It could mean harm befalling you and us included." He stopped smirking and looked saddened suddenly, "Believe it or not, but none of us want that for you."

"But they are all we have now, right? I mean, we cannot surely recruit the other species without Maximillian's help. That was the plan. Build one by one, with the lions as a foundation." I looked at Donovan for a response. He looked at me, the same saddened look in those pale green eyes.

"I need to make a decision, but I won't make it without your consent. I cannot hide you from them. I simply cannot." He spilled to the floor and kneeled before me, holding my hand. Tears burned in his eyes as he said, "This will be dangerous, almost life-threatening. I can protect you, but these are powerful people whose laws have governed all wereanimal kind for generations past. They may not have ruled us like the human legalities do, but the oldest among us are considered the most wise and powerful. Bringing them here could mean one or more of them might want to take you somewhere."

"I would not want to go with them, Donovan, trust me."

"I understand that, but the oldest of us are traditionalists, and would take what they desired. No permission required."

"If that happens, we'll make sure they don't take Eben far. We'll stop them!" Snow growled, his defiance bolstered in his words.

"We would try and do so."

"You don't sound too confident." Snow looked at Donovan then, a look that screamed "try harder".

"I love Eben, and I love the people in our pack, you included, but you must understand these beasts are powerful," Donovan replied.

"Either way, we're alone out here at the moment, and time is running out. We need their help." I looked down at Donovan and said, "Do what you have to for all of us, not just me."

He smiled, a hint of sadness glimmered in those beautiful pale green eyes. He leaned up and kissed me, a touch of lips. He held his forehead against mine and mumbled, "Thank you."

Was this a bad idea? Yeah. Was this a bad situation? Hell yes! Was I frightened? Just a little.
