Exponential Growth Ch. 1 [COM]
#21 of Commissions
Heyo, back with something different! So this is the first multi-part commission I've gotten to work on, which means that this is sort of an experiment for how I handle them in the futre should I get anymore.
A green-furred fox has gotten his hands on a piece of software that brings whatever the user types into it to life. What's he got in store for a certain wolf that's caught his eye?~
Mature for references to bolge.

Nathan and Commissioner - FA: DanMingle ORIGINAL POST
Another sunny day, another chance to get some yard work done. That was Nathan thought as he made his way through his front door to his well-maintained lawn outside. The sun was beating down something fierce, but he made sure to wear a wide-brimmed hat and fill the largest water bottle that he had before heading out.
The long-haired, green-furred fox was very proud of the work that he did. The handful of trees by the sidewalk - that were planted before he got there - were made sure to be taken care of according to their needs. The little patch of grass that was allotted to his land was manicured to an appropriate height, though he knew that watering it wasn't necessary in the slightest. The hedge on his side of the property line was always kept immaculate. Even the garden that he actually planted was flourishing in the warmer weather, but he noticed at some point that weeds were poking through. That wouldn't do at all.
And so, that's what Nathan had set out to do for the day, wearing a set of clothes that he didn't mind getting dirty. Armed with a pair of gardening gloves and a trowel, he got right to work, digging into the dirt with his hands until the use of the hand shovel was required. There were quite a bit of weeds that needed to be removed; he knew that he shouldn't have waited for so long to do this.
It was at that moment that his neighbour, Chris, had stepped outside, more than likely to do something similar to him. Sure enough, the shears that the gray-and-white furred wolf was carrying indicated that he was about to mow down his side of the hedge fence.
Chris' eyes wandered over to the neighbouring lot, only seeing the vulpine as he got closer to the shrubbery. "Oh, hey man."
"Hey!" Nathan replied, knowing who was talking before turning his head. He always thought that his neighbour was a joy to talk with as the other canine was friendly and courteous, but also pretty intellectual if given the chance. The pair of them could talk at length about any topic, whether it be something pop culture related like movies or music, something academia related like math or biology, or even whatever either of them happened to see online that day. The wolf was a fountain of knowledge, and he was thankful that he got to experience all of it.
What made all of that peculiar, however, was the fact that the lupine was fairly defined for someone that didn't do a whole lot of physical exercise besides taking care of his house. At five-foot-ten and two-hundred pounds, the wolf was pretty built, though he was adamant that he didn't particularly care about actually getting bigger and said that he was fine if he was this size for the rest of his life. Amazing what genetics can do for a person.
Nathan, on the other hand, was close to the opposite, clocking in at five-foot-four and one-hundred-and-fifty pounds. He was scrawnier than he'd liked to be, but there wasn't really anything that he could do about it. Of course there were times that he wished that he was bigger, but he was ultimately fine with his lot in life. He had plenty of other ways that he felt fulfilled, talking with his neighbour being one of them.
Other than that, the pair of them were fairly comparable. Neither of them wanted to drive something flashy, so they both had cars that were several decades old already. Both of them worked jobs that were vaguely business related. Hell, even Chris' house was practically as unremarkable as his was - similar design, similar colour scheme, similar size... Their homes were just incredibly similar to each other's, just like every other house in their area. Such is life in suburbia.
The pair of them had built up a fair bit of chemistry over the years. They'd gotten to the point where they'd quote movie lines to each other, come up with some inside jokes, and even know what the other person was going to say before they said it. The whole experience tickled Nathan in a way that he hadn't really felt before - he had a bit of a crush on the wolf.
The feeling was unrequited, of course, but he didn't mind in the slightest. Just about the only thing that he did was ogle the other man's chiseled body, but he made sure to be incredibly subtle about it. The last thing that anyone wanted was to be creeped out by someone staring at them.
Truth be told, Nathan was happy with his life. Work might suck at times, but the companionship helped him deal with it. He had a lot to be thankful for.
As the sun passed overhead more and more weeds got pulled, eventually leaving the garden filled with desired plants only. He was about to head back inside when he saw that the flag on his mailbox was raised. That caused quite a bit of confusion as he didn't notice any mail truck stop in front of his house, but he just chalked that up to being preoccupied with his work.
Lowering the signal device, Nathan opened the door to see what was inside, only to pull out a small package with his name on it. This further perplexed him as he was certain that he'd hadn't ordered anything recently. Nevertheless, he closed up his mailbox and took the parcel with him into his home.
Changing into something easier to lounge around in, Nathan grabbed a hold of the package again to see what exactly he was holding, only to find no identifying information anywhere on the label. The whole thing felt strange to him, but the only way to find out for sure what was going on was to open the box up and see what was inside.
It took a little bit of finagling, but he managed to get the infuriatingly stuck tape off of the cardboard, leaving the opening flap unsecure in its position. He opted to tilt the box upside-down to retrieve the contents, which slid into his free hand as a result of a couple shakes of the parcel. What came out only made things even more puzzling.
It was a CD, nestled safely in a blue, transparent jewel case. Nathan didn't know what to think, but his curiosity was piqued when he flipped the case over and spied a folded piece of paper shoved into the front. Taking extreme care when opening the case, he grabbed the page of loose leaf and opened it up, instantly reading the words written inside.
Nathan,
_ _
You don't know me, nor do I particularly know you, but I have an interesting proposition for you. On that disc is a piece of software of my own creation that has the ability to alter the world around us in ways that the user sees fit. I haven't fully tested it out so I can't tell you exactly what to expect from it, but I figured that you would be more than capable of evaluating this program.
"What the hell..." Nathan stared at the paper in bewilderment. He checked all around the page, the case, and the package itself, but there was no identifying information as to who sent it, nor was there even a return address that he could cross-reference. Did the person hand-deliver the disc to him?
Whatever the case may be, his gut was telling him that there was something wrong with his unexpected gift. He knew from years of experience, as well as hearing from other people, that one shouldn't use computer equipment when they don't know where it's been. The story of someone bricking their computer from using a thumb stick that they found on the ground was seared into his brain for the rest of his life.
But still, the thought intrigued him. He didn't know what 'altering the world around him' meant, but it sounded tantalizing. There was, however, no fucking way that he'd risk destroying his desktop just to sate his curiosity; he wasn't that stupid. He guessed that this mysterious person will just have to be disappointed that their work will go unused.
That thought lasted until Nathan realized that he had a spare laptop lying around that he rarely used these days. He hadn't even connected it to Wi-Fi, so his network was safe. In an instant his interest was renewed, and he hustled to his room to find out where he put the device.
Once discovering the location of his laptop, he brought it back to his kitchen table and set it down while he took a seat. It took a moment to run through the boot cycle, but he was eventually welcomed with his home screen. His eyes were drawn to the jewel case as he pressed the button to open the disc drive. Without even thinking about it, he popped it in and pressed the button to close it back up. Time to see what he was dealing with.
The first thing that happened was a window that popped up asking Nathan what he wanted to do with the CD. The answer was obvious - he wanted to open it up to see its contents. All that was there was an application file, which he double-clicked on. There was an installer that opened up, but it was gone so quickly that he didn't get a chance to look over anything that was written. There wasn't even a README file included!
Still, the installation process was fast, which he appreciated; that allowed him to open up the software right away and see what it was all about. To his genuine surprise he was greeted with the sight of a familiar interface - this was a word processor. It wasn't even one that added on a ton of features to existing ones - it was just a typical, run-of-the-mill, honestly ancient at this point, bog-standard, nothing special, basic word processor.
To say that Nathan was disappointed was a complete understatement. All this mysteriousness surrounding this disc and program and the expectation was that he was going to write things? He'd have almost thought that it was a rip-off had he not gotten it in the mail for free.
"Goddamn it..." He sighed as he leaned his head against his hands, his elbows resting on the table. Was this whole thing one big joke?
Nathan was about to just shut his portable computer down and head to his room, until he recalled what the message that came with the CD said. "Wait, it can alter the world around us?" It slowly began making sense to him as to why the program was a word processor now. If he was correct, then anything that he wrote down would change reality according to the text in the document.
That meant that whatever he could think of could come true; the possibilities were endless. He could write anything! But what to type...
A sudden growl from his stomach snapped him back to reality. In his haste he'd forgotten that he hadn't eaten anything all day. It felt like it'd be important that he should try and fix that first, but he stopped himself when he pushed his chair back. He could absolutely make something from the stuff in his fridge, or he could use this opportunity to try out the new program. The decision was made instantly.
Nathan felt a giddiness course through him as he thought of exactly what he should try first. It had been ages since he'd had the opportunity to eat something on the fancier side of things, but the question remained as to what exactly he should have. A lot of high-class food didn't exactly quench his craving, as he didn't particularly care for things like caviar and foie gras, but he'd been wanting a nice, juicy steak for some time now. He immediately knew what to write.
'There is a perfectly-cooked filet mignon on a plate beside Nathan.'
He figured that this was a good start as that was something that he could visually verify. Asking for something like 'nicer weather' or 'to be healthier' were hard to discern right away, so at least this would-
"Fucking hell!" Nathan nearly jumped out of his seat. As much as he was expecting to see the steak appear beside his laptop, a significantly large part of him still didn't believe that it would appear.
And yet it did. He brought his nose down close to the hunk of cooked meat, able to smell that it was, in fact, the filet mignon that he wanted. A simple poke with his index finger indicated that it actually wasn't a figment of his imagination - his thoughts weren't nearly this juicy, physically or otherwise. Everything that he tried told him that this piece of steak was real, his apprehension to regard it as such fading fast. It worked!
Hunger roaring louder since the steak materialized seemingly out of thin air, Nathan lunged for the drawer where he kept his cutlery and pulled out a knife and fork. Instantaneously, he dug into the meat and brought it to his mouth, moaning as it melted in his mouth. He couldn't believe that a steak could be this soft! It was perfect, just like he wrote...
He wolfed down the rest of the steak with gusto, satiating his immense hunger for the time being. He was thankful that he asked specifically for the meal, but he realized that that was only the beginning. There was a whole lot more than he could make happen now. He had incredible power at the tips of his fingers, and all it took was to write literally anything down.
But Nathan's brain was entirely blank. This was the problem with having everything at your disposal - decisions become impossible. He lightly pounded his closed fist against his head while he searched through his thoughts, but ultimately came up with nothing. He didn't want to be rich or famous, he was happy with both the car and the job that he had, he liked where he lived, and he was content with his body. Shit, was he really this comfortable with his life?
Then his mind turned to his neighbour. Like him, the wolf was happy where he was and never mentioned how he'd have liked things to change or gone differently. He was about to keep going onto another potential idea, but he got hung up on one thing - the other canine's body.
Nathan really did like sneaking a peek at the defined musculature that Chris had. What if there was more to ogle? "Wouldn't it be funny?" He snickered at the thought, his hands immediately getting to work. The previous sentence was highlighted and erased, leaving room for the new one.
'Chris will grow 10x his size overnight.'
As hilarious as that was, he felt like that was a tad much and that it would be better if it was a much smaller increment so that he could compare the result with the wolf's current body. It took a little bit before he came up with something more appropriate as every multiplier that he came to still felt like too much once he did the math. Eventually, he settled.
'Chris will grow 1.25x his size overnight.'
There, that wasn't too much, right? That step was small enough that, even though it was a fifty pound increase for the other canine, it wouldn't look nearly as off-putting as the other numbers that he tried.
Satisfied, Nathan closed the laptop, leaving it on the table. He wasn't going to see the fruits of his labour right away, but he was more than okay with that. He had more than enough time to imagine what the outcome was going to look like!

The next day arrived as unceremoniously as the last. Nathan's garden was exceedingly taken care of by this point, so he decided to turn his attention to his trees and see if they needed anything. He walked out of his house without his usual cap on, though he felt like he didn't need it due to the overcast weather happening all that day.
It felt like it was going to rain that day, so he didn't bother with making sure that they were thoroughly watered. Still, there were a bunch of other things that he needed to look after. He'd had problems with insects in the past and wasn't going to let them destroy something that he'd worked so hard on maintaining.
"Hey Nate." A voice called out from behind him, snapping him out of his train of thought. Knowing exactly who it was coming from he turned around, and almost jumped out of his skin when he saw the other man.
Chris was wearing his usual attire of a T-shirt with a slogan and jeans, only things seemed different this time. The obvious change was that he filled out his clothes that much more than he used to. There was more mass on his chest than there used to be, distorting what was printed onto the shirt just a bit. His arms bulged out that much more when he moved them, as did his quads. It wasn't a massive alteration, but boy was it noticeable! "Whatcha got planned this weekend?"
Nathan had to blink a few times to really make sure that his eyes weren't lying to him, but then it hit him - he only realized then that he'd completely forgotten about what he wrote yesterday! Scrambling to not look weird, he blurted out the first thing that popped into his head. "O-Oh, you know, just gonna get some gardening done today."
"Really?" Chris turned to look at the immaculate set of flowers and vegetables. "You were working pretty hard on it yesterday. I thought you finished all that."
"Oh, uh," Nathan stammered, trying to not get distracted with how much the software that he received actually worked, "was gonna double check to see if I actually got all the weeds out. Really go over it with a fine-toothed comb, you know?"
"Ah, I gotcha." Chris nodded. "Well, for what it's worth, you've done a great job on it so far!"
Nathan had to smile - he did do a good job, didn't he? "Thanks!" He did his best to not stare at the other canine's chest. "What about you?"
"Eh, got a busy couple days planned." Chris rubbed the back of his now-thicker neck. "I was about to drive into town to go run some errands. I'm probably gonna be there for a while, but that means that I'll be home tomorrow. Sucks that I'll still have things to worry about then though."
Nathan chuckled while shrugging his shoulders. "That's life, right?"
"Yeah, nothing I can do about it now. Stuff's gotta get done and I'm the only man for the job." Chris gave a wave to the green-furred vulpine before heading over to his car. "Okay, I'm off. Talk to you later!"
"See ya!" Nathan reciprocated the gesture before watching his neighbour's car pull out of the driveway and disappear down the road. As soon as the vehicle was out of sight he booked it back inside, his mind awash with what he just experienced.
He instantly went for his laptop, opening it up and turning it on as fast as he possibly could. His heart was nearly beating out of his chest at the confirmation that his unexpected gift was legit. He impatiently drummed his fingers on the table as he waited for the operating system to load, immediately opening up the word processor when he had the chance to.
Nathan just stared at the words on the screen, in awe that what he wrote came to life. For the first time since opening the package, he was afraid. This kind of technology could spell utter doom for the world if the wrong person got their hands on it, yet some person just casually built the entire thing on their own in the comfort of their own home. The entire thing felt fishy, but there was nothing that he could do to give him peace of mind. There was no name attached to the parcel, no return address... He wasn't getting closure today.
The next thought that crossed his mind was what to do now. He pressed his index fingers together as he sat there, contemplating what move he should make. Maybe it was best if he just stopped using the software right now. That's what he knew that he should do, but a part of him resisted, wanting to keep pushing forward. Despite the fight going on in his brain, he could at least take pride in himself knowing that he didn't choose to do anything unethical and didn't plan to later.
Still, Nathan thought that there could still be more done - he wasn't anywhere close to finishing experimenting with the program. He could make a single sentence come true once, but what about something reoccurring? It wouldn't take much effort on his part.
'Chris will grow 1.25x his size overnight every night.'
The change was simple, but incredibly effective. Well, he figured that it would be. Only time would tell if this was actually going to work as intended. For now, all he could do was wait, but he was thoroughly occupied with coming up with new ideas to implement later on.

It was a bright and sunny day, a stark contrast to the weather of the previous day. Nathan happily strolled out of the front door of his house, clad in the gardening gear that he always wore to get dirty. It was an especially exciting day because the carnation seeds that he'd received in the previous week had just begun to germinate, meaning that it was the perfect time to plant them.
His tail eagerly wagged behind him as he sauntered over to his garden, a moist paper towel full of the seeds in one hand while the other clutched a few of his gardening tools. This was shaping up to be a pretty productive day of yard work.
While he had the time to, he ran over what his plan was in his head while he placed everything on the ground.. He already had the ideal spots in mind for the plants, since he'd been making a pattern with the other flowers that he was growing. He'd just have to dig up enough soil to ensure that the holes are deep enough, put the seeds in the holes, and then water them. Oh, and he had some compost saved up for something like this, so he could just spread that on top when he was done. He'd be like a machine today.
Obviously, he'd do each task all at once rather than work on each plant one at a time - he wasn't planning on being out here forever. This meant that he had to dig several holes in a row with his trusty trowel, but the process to do so wasn't that bad. Then he just plopped them in their dirty caverns and covered them up completely with soil, going over them once with his watering can. At least the hard part was over now.
"Morning, neighbour." An unexpected voice abruptly shattered Nathan's concentration, but he didn't mind in the slightest. In fact, he was expecting it, turning his head in the direction of the sound with a smile plastered on his face.
It was Chris, who had just come back from his morning run. He'd been wearing his usual getup to do so, but it was apparent that his running apparel was feeling a bit snug on his body. Like yesterday he'd gained an exponential amount of muscle mass, only the change was much greater that day. His chest barreled out even more than before, though it was at the same way that his biceps and triceps deliciously bulged out his arms. His traps were noticeably larger, as were his shoulders and lats. The athletic shirt that he wore obscured his positively shredded abs, but his pants did nothing to hide his incredibly bulky legs. He sure looked good with more meat on his frame. Say, did he get taller too?
Nathan couldn't believe what he was seeing - the alternation to his writing worked flawlessly! He was overjoyed with the sight, but he still expected it, so he was able to keep himself composed. "Hey man, you coming outside at all?"
"Would love to, but I can't. I got stuff to do today." Chris huffed, panting to catch his breath. One often wondered what someone of his stature would be doing out for a run instead of spending all his free time in a gym, but he had no need to sling weights around in an iron pit since he was naturally gifted in the size department. Besides, he didn't want to take the risk and grow too big to exercise, so he's doing it just in case that he can't later. "Enjoy the nice weather for me!"
"Will do!" Nathan waved to the brawny lupine, a jolt of excitement shooting through him. He couldn't believe that the other canine was completely oblivious to all of this happening. It was a bit saddening as he'd have liked to share his experiment with the wolf, but his neighbour wouldn't think that anything's changed since that's what the point of the program is.
Oh well, time to look forward to tomorrow.
***
For the first time in a little while, Nathan didn't have to worry about taking care of his yard, though he set it up that way. He scheduled every aspect of it to be worked on in such a way that it all lined up to give him at least a day off. Two, if he was lucky.
Still, he had no choice but to leave the house. He spied the flag on his mailbox raised again, though this time he knew what it was for - the novel that he ordered had finally arrived! It was something that caught his eye while he was spending time online, and he tried, and failed, to remember the last time he'd actually read something. He was going to spend the entire day reading it if he could.
That's when Nathan heard a vehicle suddenly come to a crawl and then enter a driveway - the telltale sign that his neighbour had come home. The vulpine smirked as he saw the sports car get parked in the driveway beside him while he grabbed his mail, marvelling a little at how pristine the automobile was while being nearly a year old already. He whistled in approval. "I know I've said it before already, but your car looks really nice."
Chris stepped out of the vehicle, which lurched a tad when the weight of the wolf had been taken out of it. "Yeah, thanks." He locked the door behind him. "I had no choice but to buy a brand-new one since older ones don't come as big as I need them to." He wistfully sighed, his tremendously stuffed chest rising and falling. "I'm almost afraid that I'll be sized out of cars completely and that I'd need something even more expensive to get me around."
Nathan dismissed that with a wave of his hand. "Ah, well, that probably won't happen. You haven't grown in quite some time if I remember correctly."
"That's true, but it's still on the back of my mind." Chris rubbed the back of his bull neck. At nearly four-hundred pounds of lupine bulk, he was truly a specimen to behold! "I got this big already, who knows if that's the end of it, right?"
"At least you could afford that, yeah?" Nathan quirked a brow. "Didn't you say that you were gonna be promoted soon."
"Oh yes, I'm gunning for the open manager's position." Chris' eyes lit up, his mouth contorting into a wry smile. "I honestly can't be any worse than the previous guy, he was useless! It's like he didn't know what we were working on when he's directly in charge of our work."
"Well, I'm sure you'll be great at it." Nathan nodded, his own genuine grin growing along his face.
Chris laughed, the sound booming through the nearby area. "Oh, I know I'll rock that job. I'm way overqualified as it stands." The buttoned-down shirt that he had to wear for work was strained further than a tailor would recommend, clearly indicating that he was due for one a few sizes up. At least money would stop being an issue as he wasn't interested in having his massive split-peak biceps cleave straight through the flimsy material with an accidental flex in the midst of an important meeting. It was a fear that he didn't think anyone else possessed.
Nathan reciprocated with his own chortling, though immediately stopped when he felt a drop of water strike the middle of his snout. His head whipped upwards in an instant, seeing the angrily dark clouds moving over their location. "Oh shit, the forecast was wrong today." He grimaced as a few more raindrops made their presence known.
"Ah, we better get inside then." Chris beelined straight for his front door, though fumbled a little bit getting his keys out of the tight pockets of his dress pants. With how much bulk was piled onto his humongous quads it was a miracle that he could get anything in there in the first place since the fabric was so tight as is. "Talk to you later!" He waved as he shut the door behind him.
It was like everyone on the street suddenly got the same idea once the rainclouds arrived overhead, Nathan included. He was particularly keen on making it back into his house unscathed as he didn't want his book to get damaged. Books are expensive these days!
In any case, it seemed like the word processor was working flawlessly, as was exhibited before. Though, it did beg the question as to how long he should keep it going. A week? Maybe even longer than that?
Eh, he'll figure it out.
***
Ugh, the grass needed to be cut. Nathan sighed, steeling himself for what was an incredibly boring chore, not helped one bit by the fact that it rained yesterday. And what a shower it was! It poured so hard that the force of the water threatened to knock out the power coming from the neighbourhood's above-ground transformer - something that hadn't happened since he'd moved into the area all those years ago. Someone certainly pissed off some deity.
Wondering if anything that he owned was damaged, he ventured outside, giving a curious look around the lawn. Miraculously, nothing was touched, even in the other yards once he caught a glimpse of them. Okay, there was a streetlight lying broken in the middle of the street, but that seemed to be the only thing.
The sound of the double-wide door opening on the house beside him caught Nathan's attention right away. The awe-inspiring visage of the behemothian wolf next door soon entered his view, though that Herculean frame was covered from neck to toe as per his company's rules. Even then, the fancier clothes didn't do a very good job of covering his incredible bulk, leaving little to the imagination.
Chris closed the door behind him as he walked over to where his gigantic SUV was parked in his driveway, though he happened to meet the other canine's gaze when he panned his view around. "Oh, morning, Nate." He had to strain a bit due the sheer amount of muscle mass surrounding his neck.
"Morning." Nathan replied to the titanic gray-and-white-furred wolf. "That was some storm we had yesterday, huh?"
"You're telling me! I'm glad that I was home for that, no way I would've felt comfortable driving through that kinda rain." Chris adjusted his glasses, pushing his dirty-blonde hair swoop out of the way of the eye that it was covering.
Nathan had to cock his head in intrigue as he only recognized something right then and there. "I noticed this recently but couldn't really find the time to ask. Why is it that you tend to wear dark clothes a lot?"
"Ah." Chris' eyes bugged out a bit as his expression took on a look of embarrassment. He instinctively looked away as he always felt nervous regarding this topic. "I, uh, tend to sweat really easy at this size. The dark colours help hide the pit stains."
Nathan gave the lupine a nod in understanding. "I gotcha. Well, I can tell you for sure that it definitely works. I couldn't even tell!"
Chris' mood shifted entirely, giving both a chuckle and a sigh of relief. "Thanks, I'm glad for that."
While he still had the giant wolf's attention, Nathan figured that it might be time to get some more of his questions answered. "So how's the manager's position treating you after your first few months?"
Chris groaned, his cannonball-like shoulders slumping forward. "I know why managers are so useless now. I'm pulled in sixteen different directions by the people I'm supposed to be in charge of and somehow I have to keep everything under control." He pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Like, if they hired at least one more person then everything wouldn't be such a mess. But who wants their business running smoothly, am I right?" He couldn't help but chuckle at the futility of the situation. "Anyway, I gotta head out now. See ya later." Cramming himself into the driver's seat of the vehicle, he waved at the vulpine before shutting the door and pulling out of his driveway. The extra room that he asked for when he purchased the SUV was a godsend right now.
Nathan smirked as he watched the vehicle drive down the street until it was out of sight. It'd be nice to have nice stuff like that, but he honestly didn't need something that large. His neighbour was really big, but the other canine was also tall. Who even knew if little ol' him could pull the seat up enough to reach the pedals!
But that wasn't important to think about. Right now he was more interested in how well the wolf's growth was coming along. It's why the added height made sense since nearly five-hundred pounds on a frame like his would make it virtually impossible to move. Heh, him at five-hundred pounds? Wouldn't that be something!
Maybe later.
***
He wasn't sure why he started doing it, but Nathan ended up staring at his neighbour's domicile next door. He always wondered why the house next to his was so much larger than the others on the street, but it was extraordinarily convenient that the wolf lived there considering how big the other canine would be getting. Huge house for a huge guy, right?
It was lucky that he'd turned his head to look at his smartphone at that very moment as the lupine was pulling into his driveway and he didn't want to look weird.
Once Chris stepped out of his super-sized SUV it became apparent how much of a powerhouse he was. The suit that he was meant to wear was fitted to his leviathan, six-hundred pound heft, but it signified to anyone that saw him that there wasn't a whole lot of wiggle room available; it wouldn't have been the first time that he'd ripped out of a piece of clothing while at work.
"Hey." Nathan greeted the other canine, though he stopped when he saw the wolf struggle to maintain the integrity of his clothes as he stepped out of the raised vehicle. "Oh, you look uncomfortable. Are you alright?"
Chris groaned in annoyance, loosening the tie around his absurdly broad neck. "Ugh, I hate dress clothes. They're so constricting, and I have no choice but to wear them." He also took the liberty of undoing the top three buttons on his shirt, sighing as he let his hairy chest air out from a stuffy day in his office. The swollen mounds of pectorals could've torn through the garment if he weren't thinking about it.
"Shit, that sucks. Hopefully something can be worked out for you." Nathan scratched his chin, wanting to keep the conversation going but his thoughts were a little muddled. "I can't remember, are you still considered a manager?"
Chris mulled over the answer in his head. "Uh, yeah, I guess I kinda am in a technical sense since I still do manage people. I'm just one step higher on the chain than an actual manager." Just then his eyes went as wide as saucers, an ecstatic grin stretching across his face from ear-to-ear. "That reminds me, I finally put my foot down today."
"Oh?" Nathan smiled; he did remember hearing about his neighbour's complaints earlier in the week.
"I told my boss that having the current amount of managing staff I'm in charge of is insufficient and that more people need to be hired on or else productivity is going to suffer once people are burned out and that they'll just look elsewhere for jobs." Chris proudly stated, his hands resting on his hips since he couldn't cross them over his meaty chest.
Nathan was honestly shocked at what he heard. "Holy shit." That didn't stop him from being happy for his neighbour. "So what happened next?"
"She said 'okay'!" Chris let out a genuinely mirthful laugh, his massive muscles threatening to shred his three-piece suit into ribbons with all the casual tensing they were doing. "She agreed with me and said that she'd get the hiring staff on locating some more talent. Honestly, I'm surprised."
"That's great!" Nathan was legitimately happy for his friend. "Yeah, you and me both. That almost never happens."
"Guess it pays to be confident." Chris flashed the long-haired vulpine a winning smirk. "Welp, time to unwind now. That day took a lot out of me." He ran his fingers through his hair while he walked to his custom-made door. The frames needed for a standard-sized door were wholly insufficient for a man of his stature, and he didn't want to bust right through it while simply trying to enter his house. "I'll see ya later."
Watching the grossly oversized wolf have to squeeze through the biggest residential doorway in the world caused Nathan to bite his lower lip a tad. "Yeah, bye." He called back.
It was absolutely astonishing how huge the lupine had gotten in such a small amount of time. The other canine needed everything in his life jumbo-sized to even function properly, which made it incredibly convenient that he worked the position that he did. The fox couldn't even think of how poor the wolf's quality of life would be if he was just a common office grunt like him.
Still, that wasn't the end of his growth. Nathan wanted to keep his little experiment going for as long as he could, having found a new appreciation in exponential numbers. Who knew that math could be so much fun?!

Well, unfortunately all good things must come to an end. In this case, Nathan's downtime was over, and he had to begin tending to his yard again. The grass was at an acceptable level since he'd cut it recently, but his side of the hedge was getting rather shaggy and needed to be taken care of. At least it was something small.
The same couldn't be said for his neighbour, who was a veritable colossus! The wolf was pretty tall, standing at seven-and-a-half feet, but his staggering weight of over seven-hundred-and-sixty pounds gave him godly proportions that even the most dedicated of bodybuilders couldn't ever achieve, even through unnatural means!
Chris was easily the widest person in the city, if not the world. He had to be, otherwise his body couldn't pile weight onto his frame as much as it liked to. It forced the titan to wear incredibly casual clothing as no tailor anywhere would consider bundling up the canine in something high-class due to outrageous material costs, though it wasn't like non-dress attire fit any better. The denim pants that he wore, for instance, contoured lovingly around his ample package, looking like it was painted on. "Morning." He called out when he saw the vulpine.
"Hey." Nathan responded, in awe at the size of the lupine. "I have to say, it's really amazing how large you've gotten over the years."
Chris chuckled as he reached for the rake leaning against one of the pillars at the entrance to his mansion. "I've got big genes, what can I say?"
"Big genes and big jeans." Nathan nudged his hand in the direction of the other man's pants.
The pun got Chris to laugh a little harder. "You know it!" He carried the gardening implement over his shoulder, which rested at a steep angle because of the outright absurd amount of beef packed onto his neck and shoulders. "Although, that second one is hard to come by these days." He repositioned the rake into his hands, using it to comb through the rocks that made up his yard.
Even though it shouldn't, Nathan couldn't help but feel that the wolf's action was a tad strange. "I forget, what's with the rocks again?"
"Oh." Chris stood up straight again. "I can't bend over that well anymore, so I had to give up my lawn. I know I could just hire someone to tend to it for me, but I think I honestly like how it looks now."
Nathan had to agree. "It's different for sure, but it really stands out here considering that everyone else has grass." The nice thing about the lupine was that nothing else about him changed, only his body - not his car, not his house... nothing. Nathan could still talk with the wolf the same way that he did before, the added mass not altering anything at all. The program was working flawlessly!

It was now extraordinarily difficult for Nathan to pry his eyes away from his neighbour. The lupine was an actual muscle monster now at just over nine-hundred-and-fifty-pounds and eight feet tall, though he certainly didn't act like it. His arms were far stronger than steel cables and his biceps were larger than his head, yet the wolf didn't care to show off in the slightest despite the fact that he couldn't even wear a shirt anymore. It gave everyone a full view of the enormous pec shelf that he possessed, as well as the wide wing-like lats whenever he happened to raise his arms.
It also meant that pants were a thing of the past, and that shorts were all that the other canine could wear now - the stretchier, the better. This didn't go unnoticed to Nathan, who saw the way the black-and-white pattern was aggressively spread over those mammothian quadriceps. "Surprised you're not wearing jeans these days."
Chris had a quizzical look on his face upon hearing that. "I haven't been able to fit into jeans for a while now. I could've sworn I'd mentioned that to you at some point."
Nathan scoffed, shaking his head in disbelief of himself. "Oh, it must've slipped my mind. That's my bad!"
"Ah, no worries. We're all forgetful from time to time." Chris snickered. "The key is to make those moments as few and as far between as we possibly can."
"Very true." Nathan agreed, giggling at his mistake. "Say, it's been a while, but would you want to come over today? That is, if you're not busy."
Chris warmly smiled. "You'd think the CEO of a company would be swamped with work, but I'm not. I'd love to."

To say that getting Chris through the comparatively tiny door frame was an arduous task would be an understatement, but somehow, someway, the pair of them managed to get the wolf through with minimal damage done. They didn't want to think about getting him out.
"Make yourself at home!" Nathan cheerily exclaimed as he led the lupine to his kitchen.
Chris was just happy that he didn't have to duck too much as he walked through the house. "Thanks, I will." He just about grabbed a chair until he realized how bad of an idea that would be, and instead opted to sit on the floor.
"I just have to go grab something real quick. I'll be right back." With that, Nathan hustled to the door that went downstairs, his long hair flowing behind him.
That left Chris alone in the kitchen with nothing to pass the time with. He took the opportunity to glance around, though all that did was remind him of what his first home used to look like. It was lovely on the inside but appeared identical to every other home on the street; it's why he bought his hugemongous mansion the instant it went on the market. Well, that, and the fact that it was a residential domicile that could support his size.
He was about to stop looking around until his eyes landed on the laptop on the table in front of him. He didn't pay it too much mind at first, but he just so happened to see his name printed on the screen. It instantly piqued his curiosity, and he brought the device over to him.
Chris thought that what was written was rather... strange, to say the least. It didn't make sense to him because, well, he'd know if he was growing overnight as he'd see the incredibly obvious results in the morning. He'd gotten to the size that he was because of the genetics that he'd inherited - everyone knew that! This word document looked like it served no purpose.
Though it did give him an idea, one that tickled his sense of humour. Hastily checking to see if he was still alone, the wolf quickly highlighted his name with the cursor and erased it, putting 'Nathan' there instead and saving it. It's not like changing the sentence was actually going to do anything, obviously, but it was funny to think about. Imagine changing reality with words!
The last thing that he did was put it back where he found it. It took him some time, but he made it look completely undisturbed, getting both the angle of the screen and position just right. This was fortuitous as he could hear the green-furred fox bounding back up the steps.
"Alright, I'm back." Nathan announced, now clutching his phone. He then eyes his laptop on the table. "Oh, lemme just get that out of the way." Both the software and computer were shut down without a second thought, meaning that he hadn't seen the change at all. With the offending electronic now sitting on the living room couch, he made his way back into the kitchen. "Can I get you anything?"
"Tea would be great." Chris replied. "Doesn't matter what kind."
"Coming right up!" It took Nathan an embarrassingly long amount of time before selecting what type to brew. "You know, this is nice, we should do this more often. Do you have anything planned for tomorrow?" He asked while setting up the water to boil.
Chris smirked, though rather impishly. "Nothing. Tomorrow sounds lovely."
