Calm Waters Chapter Nine
(Nakishodo)
Darkness and scent. The sounds of pumping blood and the beat of the heart. This is was filled my mind at first. Hunger sparked...hunger that I just knew was for the blood I was hearing. Upon further reflection I realized that my eyes were open...yet I could not see. I could hear snoring...and as I attempted to move I felt as if I had smacked into a wall of glass. The sounds of snoring grew louder and some animalistic sounds filtered through as well. I pushed against that glass and then fell to my knees feeling pain radiate from my skull.
I gathered myself from the floor and used the wall to support myself as I shakily got to my feet. The smells of blood and the ever present heartbeat seemed to get louder and more pronounced... I just new I needed it. If I had to guess I would say that due to the fact that I had lost so much blood I needed a fresh supply to replenish my own. But right now I didn't know where my opponent was...or my savior for that matter. Sure I could hear the heartbeats but that didn't distinguish the person carrying said heart around. I needed to get up but with the feral side in control and me being locked in here well getting up wasn't going to be easy. The very thought had the pain winding it's way towards me as if it was sentient and thought that by keeping me under durress it could stop me. I couldn't help my laugh before I stood up and dusted my shorts off.
My mind. My rules. The sensation of pain struck like a coiling viper determined it seemed to stop me. Striking deep into the recess of my mind. I saw blood... I felt it dripping through my nose in the physical plane..."We're sorry. The number your trying to reach is temporarily unavaible. Please call back later." I relentlessly pushed my mental presence forward and yes it hurt like a bitch. Yes I was damaging myself further. However there was something far more deadly outside my mind that I needed to silence lest the occupants of this place wish to live another day.
I gathered my energy in my hand and as the viper moved to strike again I captured it in a sphere of glass. "I've got work to do. Your keeping someone else alive friend. Something that will kill us all. So you best keep out of my way." The barrier before me attempted to resist but I snarled and pushed it aside feeling the damage to my own person increase further but I had to do this. I took the paws of my slumber Feral self....and felt my surge of energy leave me. "Shit." I cursed into the fur I found myself on. The feral side aka Sukura snuffled in his sleep then his ears twitched and the nose dialated before their eyes opened and then looked up at me whining soft in concern. "I know boy. Trust me. I understand it hurts." I sighed managing to pet his nose. "Calm like water." I said repeating our mantra.
"The earth may fall the heavens shake. But we have to be calm and take it as it may." As I finished speaking I felt our minds joining as one and together we pushed ourselves to the outside world and once more we took control of our body. We gasped as if we had just emerged from deep underwater. The sensations slamming into our awareness were worse than what they had been inside the mindscape. But We forced ourselves to stand up...my canines elongating like the proverbial vampires of legends. Scent flooded our nose enticing scents. We heard the heartbeat of our host a room away and...down the hall the far slower heartbeat of our dear spearmaster.
"Move Quickly. We Can't hold this long." Urged Sukura and I had to agree. Every step felt like it took a year and it triggered the extreme bloodlust that I wasn't quite expecting but lent me haste to our current endeavor. Out the door down the hall through the second door. He was resting restrained but peacefull. How I wish I had killed him on the battlefeild but right now I had no choice. Not with what felt like my body litteraly falling apart on me. The scent of blood so fresh and near...I... we lost it. And fell on him. As our canines peirced that weak protection known as skin I felt my flowers stir and trickle down from my teeth into the body soo as we fed...so too did they. Atom by atom our former opponent dissappeared. Now I must seem like a horrible monster to my dear readers but I needed to be sure this...bastard wouldn't be showing up again.
And Now it was if they never existed. With my meal complete I had to admit... I felt better. Unfortantly due to my hunger I was not able to take stock of their memories. However our ears alerted us to the fact that our dear host was now moving about in the kitchen. Don't ask me how I made it back to the room but I did collapse back into the bed to let the meal do it's good. Sure my heart would plague me for it later but right now it was survival.

I received an alert on my phone and glancing down I sighed seeing that it was from NICK. Glancing around the subway car that I was on i slipped an earbud into my ear under my brilliant red hair and then performed the needed motions to start a call to NICK. "Black Rose. So nice of you to respond so quickly." said the smooth synthetic voice of my debonair employer. "How could I not NICK? You boys are so helpless without me it's a wonder you can even tie your own shoes." I found myself teasing right back even as I scanned a wary eye over the people riding with me trying to see if anyone was paying to much attention or was looking at me for just a moment to long. "Well you've been activated. SPEER has fallen off the map. We need you to locate him and see what has occurred." "Name Like that? He deserved it." I joked with a smirk before standing to disembark at my stop.
"You should take this Seriously Black Rose." chidded NICK. "Who says I'm not?" I asked him cassually.
