Bunnie D'Coolette nee Rabbot has always been a hospitable gal. When her bestie, Princess Sally Acorn, called her to talk about things, she was more than happy to oblige.
"It's been a regular gal's day! You and me, Sugah, just like things should have always been!" The rabbit says, nudging her friend as they walk through the streets of Chun-nan. "Though, ah must say travelin' to the other side o' the world seems like such a tall order fer just a regular ol' day. Don'tcha think its time ya tell me what's really on yer mind and all?"
Sally sighs, finding a bench to sit on, staring up at the sunset as the people leave for the evening. "Ugh, I just... I learned something I probably shouldn't have.
"Aw, shucks. Is this some big-government thing? And here ah thought we were done with all that back when we finally kicked Eggy's behind for good!" She sits down next to her friend, placing her robot hand upon her shoulder. "Whatever it is, you got my muscle and my pistons and gears and all that fer support."
Sally chuckles, shaking her head. "Oh, it's nothing like that. It's just.... Well, it's embarrassing, that's all, and I shouldn't be telling family secrets to just anyone."
"Sugah... you came with me to a whole 'nother country and had a wonderful time at a festival, but you say you don't trust me to keep a secret for ya?"
"Haha, no, it's not that," Sally says, running a hand through her hair. "It's just that, well, my mom... and kinda my dad."
"Yeah? Well, whatever they're goin' through, ah won't' spill the beans, you know me, Sally-girl."
"Well, the other day...." Sally says, huffing out a deep breath, leaning over the bench. "I... saw... well."
"Shucks sugah, is this some kind of bedroom talk?"
"Huh? No, well, I mean, yeah, I guess."
Bunnie pats her shoulder and shakes her head. "Don't you worry yourself none. Tell you what: I'll let you in on a little secret: Antoine and I have been tryin' out some new things, and wooo wee did we have something fun and spicy the night we celebrated Freedom Day the first time."
Sally perks her head up. "Wait, you're not going to share...."
"And why not? Oooh, if you wanna swap stories, embarrsin' or arousin, there ain't no one in this world ah'd rather share. Ah am proud of my lovin' relationship, after all," she says this, lifting her fingers and letting the wedding ring glimmer in the lamplight.
"Well," Sally says, shrugging. "It's gotta be better than what I have to share. So, tell me, what's up?"
"Well, ya see, we were a few drinks in, all of us, right? When Vanilla comes up and proposes ta me ta talk in the garden. And, well, one thing' led to another, 'n the two of us were on our knees, suckin' mah hubby's carrot!"
"Oh, uh, that's... huh, I never saw Vanilla that way," Sally says. "I guess that kinda makes up for my story."
"Well, you better not be holdin' out on me, Sally-girl. Whatcha got? Embarrassin' or not, you gotta share things that bother or interest ya with someone,' or it just builds up and explodes, and that is no good."
Sally sight. "No, no, it's nothing. My mom's privacy is her own." She grips her knees. "If she wants to... to be with someone else, then...."
Bunnie frowns. "Aw shucks, yer not sayin' what ah think yer' sayin'? Yer parents love each other, you know that? Why, King Nigel's the most gregarious and shining example of nobility and Queen Alicia, shucks, never a more proper queen there was!"
"Yeah, then, why did I see her with Rosemary Prower!" Sally snips under her breath.
Bunnie's ears rise up at that statement, and then there's a quiet that goes between the two of them.
A moment later, Bunnie's laughs break the silence. They come out as a piercing juxtaposition to Sally's concerns.
"What?"
"Ah, Sally-Girl," Bunnie says. "You got nothin' to worry ya none. Mrs. Prower's in an open relationship with her husband, and she ain't gonna be in another relationship unless the others are in one as well."
"Wut?"
"Listen, you don't have to worry none," Bunnie says, hand clasping Sally's hand, resting on her thigh. The rabbit flutters her eyes and leans in. "Yer parents must be makin' some kinda arrangement in their married life. It's all good."
"H... how do you know this."
"Shucks, sugah," Bunnie says, smirking, "Guess yew were too busy learnin' to be a leader than to learn all the ropes of swingers and havin' some good old adult fun! Granted... Vanilla had to show me around a few things, and Antoine was more than happy to watch and participate, let me tell you."
"Wait... does that mean...?"
Bunnie nods, sitting up, her hands upon her knees. "Sho-Nuff! Antoine and I have a very healthy relationship and a very important understandin'. Anyone we fuck, we gotta bring home fer the other to have fun with. We, of course, let the other know all about it."
Sally blinks, sits up, squirms, and then coughs. She breaks her awkwardness by saying. "I'd imagine the overlap between people who'd be interested in you and interested in Antoine is pretty small, though."
"Ah, you only think that way 'cause he's like family to ya. But, ah do have to admit one thing, sally-girl."
"Huh?"
"Y'see, we may be married, but we know there are some boundaries and limits and whatnot. We gone ahead and made ourselves a list--a few exceptions to our little arrangement. If'n we can find ourselves in a position to have a roll in the hay with anyone on that list, well, we are in no way obligated to share."
Sally clutches at her chest, swallowing, though her legs sit slightly apart. "Bunnie... who... who is on your list."
Bunnie leans back on the bench, a smile widening.
