Pokemon - To Catch Them All - Route 111 to Fallarbor Town
#41 of Pokemon - To Catch Them All
Leo explores Route 111 all the way to Fallarbor Town where he hears about Team Rocket causing trouble in the Hoenn Region
I headed North from Mauville City and reached Route 111 and it was a quaint little route with a small lake over near a home that looked very lovely and peaceful. As I was about to walk past the home a gentlemen outside of the home shouted me over to him. "Excuse me you must be a trainer am I right?" I nodded in agreement wondering what exactly he wanted from me. "What do you say to taking on our family of four in a series of Pokemon battles?" I pondered it but imagined that battling would only help my Pokemon grow stronger so I accepted. This pleased the gentlemen and he challenged me to a battle almost immediately. His first Pokemon was a Taillow and I sent out my Electrike having him use Spark defeating Taillow. The second Pokemon sent out was a Zigzagoon and I substituted for my Breloom having him use Mach Punch to wrap the battle up immediately.
The next opponent was the gentlemen's wife who challenged me with a Roselia and I sent out my Swellow having him use Aerial Ace before Roselia could even unleash Stun Spore. Next opponent was their daughter and she challenge me with a Goldeen and I sent out my Grovyle having him use Mega Drain defeating Goldeen. The next Pokemon was a Shroomish and I substituted for my Ninjask having him use Aerial Ace defeating Shroomish. Finally Numel was next and I substituted for my Pelipper having him use Water Pulse defeating Numel. The final opponent was the daughters grandmother who sent out a Meditite a Pokemon I hadn't yet come across and it was a Fighting and Psychic Type and could be a real threat. I sent out my younger Kirlia and he managed to defeat Meditite with Disarming Voice.
After I defeated all the family trainers they congratulated me but mentioned that their son who had challenged the Pokemon League was likely far stronger than me so I wondered if I would ever see him on my journey. If I did it would be fun to have a battle against such a challenging opponent. For the moment though, I continued along Route 111 and was challenged by a TV crew, a reporter and a cameramen. They battled in a double battle with a Whismur and a Magnemite. To counter I sent out my Combusken and Marshtomp. Combusken overwhelmed Whismur with a Double Kick and Marshtomp finished Magnemite with Mud Bomb.
Next opponent was a Picnicker who challenged me with a Plusle and I sent out my Aron having him use Headbutt defeating Plusle. Next up was a Illumise and I had Aron continue the battle defeating Illumise with Rock Tomb. I continued on and was challenged by another Picnicker who sent out a Sandshrew and I sent out my Nuzleaf having him use Razor Leaf defeating Sandshrew. A Backpacker was next and sent out a Linoone and I sent out my Linoone. Since my Linoone knew how to use Rock Smash the battle was over rather quickly. I soon reached some boulders which could be smashed and would then allow me to access a desert that was connected to Route 111 where a perpetual sandstorm made the route extremely harsh to travel so one needed some proper equipment before they explored this sandstorm and caught some unique desert Pokemon, as such I waited on exploring the route until I was properly prepared.
Instead I headed West and reached Route 112 and was immediately challenged by a Camper who sent out a Taillow and I sent out my Electrike having him use Spark. The next Pokemon sent out was a Zubat and Electrike won using Spark once more. As a result of Electrike defeating the many Flying Types he suddenly began glowing signalling his evolution. When the light faded a Manectric was standing proud observing his new body while Rotom registered the new Pokemon on my Pokedex. "Manectric has been registered to your Pokedex. Manectric the Discharge Pokemon a Electric Type Pokemon. It discharges electricity from its mane. This Pokemon creates a thundercloud overhead from which to drop lightning bolts." Just as I finished listening to the new entry Manectric jumped and landed on my chest happily rubbing his nose against my chest. I congratulated Manectric on evolving and petted his head, feeling static electricity coursing through his body he had definitely gotten stronger thanks to his evolution.
I returned Manectric and continued on Route 112 when I was challenged by another Camper who sent out a Gulpin and I sent out my elder Kirlia who may have been at a slight disadvantage since Poison Type Pokemon were super effective against Fairy Type Pokemon. But at the same time, Psychic Type Pokemon were super effective against Poison Type Pokemon. As such when Kirlia unleashed Confusion it defeated Gulpin in a single hit. Before continuing along the route, I explored the grass as Rotom had informed me that a new Pokemon called Numel could be caught here.
After exploring the grass I eventually found the Numel and decided to catch it. "I need your help Vigoroth!" Vigoroth appeared wildly swinging his arms around like a monkey would as he eagerly anticipated a battle against a tough opponent. "Vigoroth use Slash!" Vigoroth charged towards Numel and landed a quick and powerful Slash attack that greatly weakened Numel. Numel wasn't going down easily and unleashed Lava Plume a powerful attack. "Vigoroth dodge that and then use another Slash!" Vigoroth danced around the Lava Plume barely dodging the powerful attack before landing another Slash which seemed to be enough to defeat Numel.
At that I threw a Pokeball at the weakened Numel, "Pokeball go!" I watched as the ball shook, once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Numel has been registered to your Pokedex. Numel the Numb Pokemon a Fire and Ground Type. Its humped back stores intensely hot magma. In the rain the magma cools, slowing down Numel." I released Numel and healed him up thanking him for such a tough battle and Numel seemed a bit confused as this trainer had barely needed any effort to defeat him. "Lets work together and get you to be the strongest Camerupt you could be." Numel seemed enthusiastic even though he was rather slow, but I appreciated the enthusiasm he held.
I then headed up some stairs and was challenged by a Hiker who sent out a Numel and I decided to test out my Numel and have a battle and see just how powerful my Numel was. My Numel unleashed Bulldoze which rapidly defeated the opponents Numel. The second Pokemon sent out was a Machop and I substituted and sent out my Shedinja having him be immune to all attacks before unleashing a super effective Aerial Ace defeating Machop. A second Hiker then challenged me with three Geodude's and I had my Lombre come out and use Bubble Beam defeating the three Geodude. After defeating all the trainers and catching the new Pokemon Numel. I then entered the next location which was the Fiery Path and I immediately felt the heat sweltering in the air.
The Fiery Path was definitely hotter than I would have liked but Rotom informed me that there were was one new Pokemon that I could catch here and that was Torkoal and the habitat was perfect for Torkoal to live here. "Come out Marshtomp!" I brought Marshtomp out and he seemed to be relatively unbothered by the heat and when he saw that I was clearly sweating he gave me a light dousing of Water Pulse which refreshed me. I then explained that the sooner we found Torkoal the sooner I could leave the Fiery Path and at that Marshtomp assumed command and began searching the path in all its entirety. Many Fire Types challenged Marshtomp but he simply defeated them with Water Pulse before they could become a threat. A few Poison Types made the Fiery Path their home but Mud Bomb was super effective agains them too.
Eventually after searching high and low, I came across a Torkoal that was ambling through the cave enjoying the sweltering heat and I definitely felt envious of the Fire Type. "Marshtomp use Water Pulse!" Marshtomp fired Water Pulse at Torkoal who was shocked at the sudden attack but barely managed to dodge. That was very impressive and I smiled in intrigue at my opponent. "Use Mud Bomb Marshtomp!" Marshtomp threw the Mud Bomb at Torkoal but it countered by using Protect which blocked the super effective attack.
"Use Water Pulse instead, they won't be able to keep using Protect forever!" I encouraged Marshtomp and he agreed and continued rapidly attacking, eventually Torkoal couldn't continue using Protect and switched to unleashing a Smokscreen which covered the entire cave. Marshtomp was sensitive to ground vibrations and without a command from me managed to dodge Ember from Torkoal before landing a super effective Water Pulse. When the smoke cleared, Torkoal had been defeated and I threw a Pokeball at the weakened Torkoal and watched as the ball shook, once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Torkoal has been registered to your Pokedex. Torkoal the Coal Pokemon a Fire Type. It burns coal inside its shell for energy. It blows out black soot if its in a tough situation."
I happily released Torkoal and healed him up and Torkoal thanked me by unleashing soot everywhere. I coughed a little and thanked Torkoal for his apparent present as Torkoal happily smiled. Thankfully I was now finished in Fiery Path and could continue on through the path. Eventually I exited the Fiery Path and returned to Route 112 where I exited from the North. Soon enough I was challenged by a Street Thug who sent out a Mightyena and I sent out my new Torkoal and saw that he could easily handle himself, but dodging Mightyena's attacks by using Smokescreen and finishing the Pokemon off with Flame Wheel. I happily congratulated Torkoal and received more soot in my face as Torkoal was very happy to have made his beloved trainer proud.
After that battle I headed East and returned back to Route 111 but was now above the sandstorm and instead continued heading north and was challenged by an Ace Trainer who sent out a Electrike and I sent out my Marshtomp who used Mud Bomb defeating Electrike. The next Pokemon sent out was a Bagon a Pokemon that could become the incredible Salamence a Pokemon I was excited to one day own. I substituted for my Fairy Type Kirlia, specifically the elder Kirlia who used Disarming Voice defeating Bagon. The final Pokemon sent out was a Makuhita and I substituted once more for my Swellow having him use Aerial Ace defeating Makuhita. My next opponent was a Fairy Tale Girl who sent out a Spoink and I sent out my Mightyena having him use Bite defeating the Psychic Type. The second Pokemon sent out was a Mawile and I substituted for my Combusken having him use Flame Charge defeating Mawile thanks to it being super effective.
The final opponent I faced before leaving Route 112 was a Ace Trainer who challenged me with a Wingull and I sent out my Manectric having him use Thunder Fang defeating Wingull. The second Pokemon was a Numel and I substituted for my Lombre having him use Bubble Beam defeating Numel. The final Pokemon sent out was a Roselia and I substituted once more for my Dustox having him use Gust defeating Roselia. At that I headed along the route and managed to reach Route 113. Route 113 was in close proximity to Mt Chimney and as such the route was covered in a perpetual ash that fell from the sky, making the route look the way it did.
Before I challenged any trainers I quickly explored the grass and encountered the new Pokemon that I hadn't yet caught and it was a very unique Pokemon a Spinda. Spinda all had a completely different pattern and as such the chances of finding a Spinda that looked completely different to another Spinda were incredibly rare. After finding Spinda I prepared myself to catch it, "come out Breloom I need your help!" Breloom appeared boxing repeatedly as he watched the Spinda spinning around. Breloon turned to me and readied himself to help me catch yet another new friend. "Breloom use Mach Punch!" Breloom dashed toward Spinda and rocked it with a lightning one two combination of Mach Punch which was super effective.
Breloom must have been stronger than I had previously thought as Spinda had already been weakened greatly by the super effective attack and as such I threw a Pokeball at the weakened Spinda and watched as the Pokeball shook once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Spinda has been registered to your Pokedex. Spinda the Spot Panda Pokemon a Normal Type. No two Spinda have the same pattern of spots. Their tottering steps hinder the aim of foes." I thanked Breloom for his effort and healed up Spinda as well. Spinda seemed rather unconcerned about having been caught and knew some interesting moves that could have been dangerous if they landed against Breloom. The main one being Psybeam which would have been a dangerous move against a Fighting Type.
After catching Spinda I continued on my journey and was challenged by a Trapinch and I sent out my Grovyle and had him use Mega Drain defeating Trapinch. The next opponent was a Electrike and I kept battling with Grovyle having him use another Mega Drain defeating Electrike. As I bypassed a pile of ash a Ninja Boy jumped out of the ash and challenged me with three Koffing and I sent out my younger Kirlia having him use Confusion defeating each of the Koffing. Next I was challenged by a Fairy Tale Girl who sent out a Kirlia and I sent out my Gulpin who hadn't battled in a while so I was happy to give him a battle. Using Sludge he managed to defeat Kirlia while narrowly dodging Confusion from Kirlia.
I was quite surprised when as a result of defeating Kirlia Gulpin began glowing signalling he was evolving. I watched with baited breath and when the glow faded instead of Gulpin there was a Swalot observing me curiously. I wondered whether he was concerned I was happy about his new appearance or disgusted. Before I could even reassure him Rotom happily updated my Pokedex with Swalot's entry. "Swalot has been registered to your Pokedex. Swalot the Poison Bag Pokemon a Poison Type. It swallows anything whole. It sweats toxic fluids from its follicles to douse foes." I happily congratulated Swalot announcing how proud I was that he had reached his evolution and Swalot happily smiled at knowing his trainer was kind and truly a wonderful trainer. I did wonder whether Snorlax now had competition since Swalot had quite the appetitie now and so did Snorlax too.
The next opponent who challenged me was a Parasol Lady who sent out a Numel and I sent out my Masquerain having him use Bubble Beam defeating Numel. The next opponent was a Youngster who challenged me with an Aron and I sent out my Hariyama who used Force Palm to quickly defeat Aron. As I was traversing through the ash piles another Ninja Boy challenged me with a Nincada and I sent out my Beautifly having him use Gust defeating Nincada. The second Pokemon sent out was a Ninjask and I knew how fast Ninjask could be so I substituted for my own Ninjask who out sped my opponent and finished it off with a super effective Aerial Ace.
At that I headed West and eventually reached Fallarbor Town and noticed that even though this town was near Route 113, there wasn't all that much ash falling from Mt Chimney here which meant that it must be habitable for both people and Pokemon. I quickly healed up my Pokemon and began exploring Fallarbor Town when I noticed a hysterical women. When I approached she immediately dashed on over to me. "Oh you look like a powerful trainer. Could you please help me?" I nodded that I would but wondered what had happened. "Professor Cozmo is a Professor who studies meteorites. However, not too long ago a group of thugs calling themselves Team Rocket demanded that the Professor hand over the meteorite and all his research documents about the meteorite too. Team Rocket took the Professor to Meteor Falls. I'm really worried about Professor Cozmo would you be able to bring him back safe and sound?" The hysterical women was begging me and I immediately agreed.
"I'll definitely help, I've dealt with Team Rocket before, in Kanto and Johto but I had no idea they were causing a ruckus here in the Hoenn Region." The women ignored that comment and I didn't blame here. "That makes me more confident that your more than capable of bringing the Professor home." Before leaving town I headed on over to the Pokemon Mart where I brought some more Pokeballs as I was sure there would be plenty more Pokemon that I could catch on the way to Meteor Falls.
