#4 of Zonktober 2022

Spirals don't do shit, right...? That is, unless they get help from your goth girlfriend and a certain something else.

4th entry for the Zonktober stories! Featuring Silverzar (https://www.furaffinity.net/user/silverzar) and Vael (https://www.furaffinity.net/user/ookami-ki). Hope you guys enjoy it!

"I'm telling you, that stuff doesn't do shit."

Taking a sip from his can of Monster, Gabu let go of Vael's hand and walked back to his room. The tall ram followed him to his desk chair, dressed up in her black clothes even though they were staying home for the afternoon. Gabu, consequently, was wearing the most comfortable clothes he'd found, which consisted on a pair of joggers and a tank top.

"You can't say that if you haven't tried it," Vael pointed out. "Or are you actually scared it might work?"

Gabu scoffed.

"Sure, I'm terrified."

"Oh, come on, just give it a try! If you don't like it, you can always turn it off."

"You're not going to let me turn it off once it's on the monitor though, are you?" Gabu asked with a knowing smirk.

"Hmmmm, no. But hey, maybe you'll like it. Who knows?"

Gabu considered his options, resting his footpaws on the table. For the scruffy pooch, the decision was basically between taking a look at whatever his girlfriend had in store for him or doing something else entirelgy, like playing a game of Furtnite. However, he had a feeling he wasn't gonna have a say in the matter.

It wasn't like he couldn't try, though.

"Nah. I'll pass," he said, more to tease the ram than because he actually felt like playing. "I think I'm going to take a shower and then..."

Just as he'd expected, a hand dropped on his shoulder and pushed him down into his seat. Gabu was forced to put his footpaws down from the table and an annoyed growl climbed up his throat.

"No, you're not," Vael's words came to his ears. "You're going to watch what I made for you. And you're gonna like it."

Oh well, here we go, Gabu thought. The pooch was slightly annoyed, but curiosity was also beginning to take its toll. Vael wouldn't usually build so much anticipation for nothing.

He remained seated while his girlfriend fumbled in her clothes, or at least that's what he gathered from what he could hear without turning to look. There was a click and then a familiar scent filled the room. The pooch frowned, confused, and tried to take a look of what was going on, but Vael's grip on his shoulder was firm enough to keep him in place.

"What are you doing?" he asked, although he thought he knew the answer.

Vael gave a mischievous chuckle that only made Gabu grow more uneasy.

He didn't have to wait for long to find out what his girlfriend was about. There was another click - one that came from a controller and not a lighter, unlike the last one - and the monitor in front of Gabu came to life. At first, the pooch had to squint because of the overkill bright settings, which threatened to burn the image right into his pupils, but it didn't take long before his eyes got used to the light.

He knew Vael had been working on a spiral with that handy spiral maker everyone was using on the internet - he just hadn't expected the results to be so convincing. The teal and yellow spiral that spun in front of his eyes took up all the screen and seemed larger than it could possibly be. And there was another effect added to the spinning - from time to time, the rotation would slow down and then speed up again, the spiral's arms spreading thin and wide accordingly.

It was a tantalizing sight, but nothing Gabu couldn't look away from easily in case he wanted to.

"Uh... okay," he mumbled, taken off-guard. "How much time did you spend in this?"

There wasn't an answer. Instead, something new came into Gabu's line of sight, something he'd smelled before.

"When did you roll that?" he asked, glancing suspiciously at the joint. The amount of preparation involved in that single moment was beginning to feel slightly risky.

"Ah, ah. No more questions now. Just open wide now."

"What?!" Gabu complained, trying to break away from Vael's grip. It was useless and he knew it - now that he was sitting there wasn't much he could do, plus his girlfriend was way taller than him. "No! I don't feel like it right..."

He couldn't finish the sentence. The hand holding the joint in front of him managed to take a grip of his chin and forced him to stare into the screen. At the same time, it also pushed the joint into his mouth. Gabu had a sudden instinct to bite, but the spiral was flashing in front of his eyes and there was a part of him that actually wanted to know where all of that was leading to. Besides, resistance was futile at this point. He knew Vael could be really determined when it came to that stuff.

The helpless pooch opened his mouth and took a hit, the hot marihuana-scented smoke filling his lungs and spiraling as it left his nostrils.

"There. Happy?" he asked.

"Again."

"What?"

"You heard me."

"But..."

"Deep breath in. Come on."

Gabu did as he was told. This time he took a bit more than he was supposed to and had to suppress a cough. When he opened his eyes again, the spiral was there, slowing down, and then speeding up again. The switching pace made his head felt tingly and slightly numb. The high brightness made it slightly uncomfortable to watch, but it also meant his eyes were getting more tired every second he stared.

Maybe looking away wasn't so easy now as it had seemed before.

"Hmmff..."

"One more time."

Gabu had to blink a few times, trying to adjust his eyes as they mirrored the teal and yellow tones the screen displayed. The throbbing effect every time the spiral changed speed was becoming more noticeable now. He had this weird feeling that whenever the spiral paced up it would pull his head towards the screen, as if an invisible force was sucking him down the center of the never-ending swirl.

Another hit from the joint made the sensation grow even stronger. It was like sliding down a whirlpool as it disappeared through a sink, leaving only some small water droplets behind to proof there had been something there before. This image filled Gabu's mind for a second before the spiral sped up again and it demanded his attention even more insistently, pulling him closer to the screen. He barely registered the next puff, as it came naturally to his brain to breathe normally and exhale through his nose, sinking even deeper into his chair. The rest of the world had begun to fade by now.

The spiral would absorb everything eventually and until then the pooch would be kept between those slow and fast pace changes, Vael's firm hand pushing him down into the cushioned seat as he slid deeper into mindlessness. And all the while, the swirling motion would keep on going, over and over, until there was nothing else left to swallow.

One thing was for sure - it would most likely take a bit longer than a game of Furtnite.
