Pokemon - To Catch Them All - Lilycove City and Mt Pyre
#49 of Pokemon - To Catch Them All
Leo heads to Lilycove and explores Mt Pyre catching and evolving new Pokemon
After finishing up on Route 121 and catching Shuppet and evolving Roselia into a much stronger and faster Roserade. I decided to do some quick catch up training with the newest team member, Shuppet. As a Shuppet he was very witty and mischievous. In battles he preferred to strike by using his ghostly movements to dodge and attack without being seen. I worked on that and helped him understand how to use other strategies to make him even stronger. Something Shuppet was thankful for as well. After catching Shuppet up with everyone else I headed East to Lilycove City and knew that the visit here would be short mainly because there was no gym here to challenge however, I had heard that the Lilycove Department Store may finally have some items that could help my Pokemon grow even stronger.
Before anything though, I entered the Pokemon Centre and had my Pokemon team fully healed. The next step was to head to the Pokemart and buy some more Pokeballs to ensure I had enough to catch some Pokemon. I decided to enter the Department Store and realised just how many people must shop here as it was bustling with people. Still, most people were browsing not buying. I explored around seeing many different stores selling different products, some sold items related to powering up Pokemon specifically by using healthy vitamins. However, I was focused on raising my Pokemon naturally as best as I could. Exploring further, I came across a group of people selling items related towards bases.
Bases were secret, usually referred to as secret bases and were created all around Hoenn and in Sinnoh as well. People made these bases as a sort of second home I guess. You could even decorate your base however you wanted and this store sold items related to that purpose. There were all sorts of dolls and other accessories people could buy if they so desired. However, I finally came across what I was searching for, after such a very long time, a lone store, secluded away, not many people seemed interested or perhaps they weren't even aware the store existed. Based on what was on display outside, though was evolution stones and that was what I needed desperately. I entered and was immediately approached by a elderly gentlemen running the store. "Greetings to you, seems like you have a good eye to spot my store, what with everyone shopping around outside. What can I do for you?"
I didn't waste anytime, "excuse me I noticed you were selling evolutionary stones, do you have a Leaf Stone, Water Stone and two Dawn Stones by any chance?" The elderly shopkeeper grumbled to himself before he suddenly shot in the backroom urging me to wait patiently for him. Within a few minutes he returned with four evolutionary stones, one, Leaf Stone, one Water Stone and finally two Dawn Stones. One might wonder why I needed two Dawn Stones, but I knew that at some point I would want to catch a female Snorunt and evolve her into a Froslass and as such, I needed to have a Dawn Stone, much like with my male Kirlia. The Leaf Stone was for Nuzleaf and the Water Stone was for Lombre.
I immediately asked to buy the stones and thankfully had saved up a good chunk of money as the stones were most certainly not cheap. But now I finally had the evolutionary stones that I needed. I immediately, headed outside and called the respective three Pokemon out. "Come on out!" Lombre, Nuzleaf and Kirlia appeared and seemed curious when they realised they weren't battling. "I just got something amazing for each of you. I know you've been waiting patiently for these but I've finally managed to find them and your patience has been rewarded." I happily showed them their respective evolutionary stones and they all immediately jumped with joy. First was Lombre who took the Water Stone and began evolving. "Ludicolo has been registered to your Pokedex. Ludicolo the Carefree Pokemon a Water and Grass Type. If it hears festive music, all its muscles fill with energy. It can't help breaking out into a dance."
As you might expect, Ludicolo immediately celebrated by grabbing and and practically forcing me into a sort of two man dance, where he twisted me around until I was seeing triple of him. Thankfully I was stopped when a hand, or rather what appeared to be a fan stopped me in my tracks. Eventually my eyes adjusted and I saw Shiftry staring me down seriously. Rotom registered the new entry when my body recovered from the incredible spinning. "Shiftry has been registered to your Pokedex. Shiftry the Wicked Pokemon a Grass and Dark Type. By flapping its leafy fans, it can whip up gusts of 100 feet per second that can level houses." I congratulated Shiftry and saw that he seemed to have developed a stern but serious personality, much like Sceptile had. Still he embraced me happily thanking me for his evolution.
Finally there was another glow signalling Kirlia's evolution and this was one that Kirlia had been desiring for such a very long time. When the glow faded a righteous Gallade stood next to me and I now had to look slightly up as he was taller than me now. Gallade smiled happily before immediately embracing me with a powerful hug as Rotom registered the new entry for me. "Gallade has been registered to your Pokedex. Gallade the Blade Pokemon a Psychic and Fighting Type. A master of courtesy and swordsmanship, it fights using the extended swords on its elbows." Gallade released me begrudgingly to demonstrate his new abilities, as he moved his body in a way almost resembling a slow dance which showcased his swordsmanship. Gallade also showed that he was a chivalrous and courteous as he walked with me side by side whenever he was outside of battle here and there.
Before I could return them all to their Pokeballs, Ludicolo, Shiftry and Gallade all embraced me with one final hug and I congratulated them all on reaching their final evolutions. Eventually they released me, when Gallade sensed their combined hug was strong enough to cause Leo to need oxygen. Shiftry only briefly hugged me showcasing his new stern personality, while Ludicolo was so happy at his new form. However, now I had done everything I needed to do in Lilycove City and decided to head on over to my next destination, Mt Pyre where I could hopefully do some more training with Shuppet, catch some more Pokemon and see my new evolutions battling for their fast time in their new forms.
I headed back West to Route 121 before reaching the Safari Zone and then heading South on Route 122, the Route was completely covered in an ocean so I would have to have a Water Pokemon transport me to Mt Pyre. "I need your help Wailord!" Wailord appeared making a huge splash in the ocean as he swam on over to me. "Wailord could you ferry me over to Mt Pyre?" I pointed in the direction of Mt Pyre and Wailord immediately nodded, gesturing with his head for me to climb aboard. I immediately did so and Wailord began a comfortable swim to Mt Pyre. It was a quick journey, as Wailord was a surprisingly fast swimmer and Mt Pyre was only a short distance away. Not only that but surprisingly no wild Pokemon decided to pick a fight with Wailord. However, thinking logically, most wild Pokemon wouldn't even attempt to pick a fight with a Pokemon as large and powerful as Wailord.
Once we reached Mt Pyre I got off Wailord and thanked him before returning him to his Pokeball before looking upwards at the creepy Mt Pyre. I knew this location was a cemetery and as such many Ghost Pokemon lived here. Rotom informed me that I could catch a wild Duskull here and that was good to here. Perhaps he and Shuppet would be good friends. At that I entered Mt Pyre and immediately felt the cold, a sensation which could be related towards the presence of Ghost Pokemon. At that I began exploring Mt Pyre and was challenged by a Poke Maniac who sent out a Lairon and I sent out my newly evolved Gallade. Gallade was more than happy to showcase his new skills and gladly showed them off to his watching trainer. One Brick Break was enough to defeat Lairon and Gallade confidently turned toward me gesturing for a fist bump which I accepted surprised at the gesture momentarily.
As I walked through the cemetery I came across a Duskull and decided to have a go at catching the Pokemon. "Come out Shiftry!" Shiftry appeared fanning his fans together creating a powerful breeze showcasing his impressive strength. "Lets see how powerful you've become." Shiftry turned to me nodding before focusing on Duskull who observed us both curiously. "Shiftry use Sucker Punch!" Before Duskull could even counter he was hit by a super effective Sucker Punch and sent to the ground with a harsh thud. "Pokeball go!" I threw a Pokeball and watched as it shook once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Duskull has been registered to your Pokedex. Duskull the Requiem Pokemon a Ghost Type. It doggedly pursues its prey wherever the prey goes. However, the chase is abandoned at sunrise."
I thanked Shiftry noting that his power had definitely increased by a substantial amount before returning him to his Pokeball. I released and healed up Duskull and saw that he seemed to be different than most Ghost Types. For one, he didn't try and scare me immediately, most of my other Ghost Pokemon always attempted to scare me whenever they got the opportunity. This Duskull also seemed to ere on the side of caution and thoroughly analysed his opponents before engaging in battle. I was sure given some time me and Duskull could become a powerful team.
Next, I was challenged by a Psychic who sent out a Staryu and I sent out my Ludicolo having him use Energy Ball which quickly defeated Staryu. The second Pokemon sent out was a Grumpig and I substituted for my Beautifly having him use Bug Buzz defeating Grumpig. Before moving up a level, one more Hex Maniac challenged me with a Sableye and I sent out my Gardevoir having him use Moon Blast defeating Sableye. I ascended a level and began exploring and was challenged to a battle by a Black Belt who sent out a Machoke and I sent out my Altaria having him use Aerial Ace defeating Machoke. Next was a Fairy Tale Girl who sent out a Jigglypuff and I sent out Mawile having Mawile use Iron Head defeating Jigglypuff.
Finally a Young Couple challenged me to a double battle, with a Delcatty and a Manectric and so I chose my Breloom and Vibrava having Breloom defeat Delcatty using Force Palm and Vibrava overwhelming Manectric by using Bulldoze winning the battle. Thanks to the battling Vibrava began glowing and evolving. When the glow faded a Flygon swooped down before me. "Flygon has been registered to your Pokedex. Flygon the Mystic Pokemon a Ground and Dragon Type. It is nicknamed the desert spirit because the flapping of its wings sounds like a women singing." Flygon demonstrated this and I was enamoured by the beauty of the wings flapping. Flygon hugged me as best as he could thanking me for helping him reach his evolution and I happily congratulated him on working so hard to become a Flygon.
At that I ascended the next level and was immediately challenged to another double battle by a Hex Maniac and a Fairy Tale Girl who sent out a Girafarig and a Mawile. Against the Girafarig I sent out my Dustox and against Mawile I sent out Torkoal. Dustox defeated Girafarig with Bug Buzz and Torkoal defeated Mawile with Flamethrower. Next a second Hex Maniac challenged me with a Shuppet and I sent out my own Shuppet to see which was stronger. Thanks to our previous training my Shuppet just barely came out on top defeating her Shuppet with Shadow Ball.
Just as my opponent sent out her second Pokemon that being a Xatu I debated on swapping when Shuppet began glowing signalling he too was evolving. "Banette has been registered to your Pokedex. Banette the Marionette Pokemon a Ghost Type. A doll bore a grudge over being junked and it became a Pokemon. It seeks the child that disowned it." I was hopeful that in some weird turn on events I hadn't been the one to disown Banette as a doll but when Banette happily approached me giving off no vengeful or hatred vibes. That assured me that Banette and I were on good terms. Banette even happily embraced me, something that he had not really done before. No matter, I congratulated Banette on reaching his evolution nonetheless. Banette then defeated Xatu using Shadow Ball.
Finally a Backpacker challenged me with a Kecleon and I sent out my Mightyena having him use Crunch defeating Kecleon. The final floor of Mt Pyre had no battles nor wild Pokemon and so I exited outside where I continued ascending up the mountain. I walked through the grass not expecting to find any new Pokemon when out of nowhere a Meditite jumped in front of me staring me down, demanding a battle. It punched the air rapidly with its fists egging me on. "Come out Swellow!" Swellow appeared and flew over to confront Meditite. "Swellow, use Aerial Ace!" Swellow flew low towards Meditite aiming to strike down Meditite who smirked cockily before dodging by using Detect.
From its new vantage point, Meditite attempted to land a powerful Drain Punch, but Swellow dodged effortlessly, glaring down at the confident Fighting and Psychic Type. "Swellow use Aerial Ace once more!" Swellow again flew low toward Meditite who once more used Detect however, Swellow anticipated the strategy and flew around Meditite before returning and striking down the stunned and confused Meditite. Meditite struggled to stand up before grinning and nodding his head, after that Meditite approached me dismissing Swellow as he attempted to glare and force Meditite to leave Leo alone. However, when Swellow realised that Meditite simply wanted to be caught by Leo, Swellow allowed Meditite to approach.
When Meditite reached me I leaned down to confront it, however, Meditite lunged forward grabbing one of my empty Pokeballs and tapping himself with it. I watched stunned as the Pokeball shook, once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Meditite has been registered to your Pokedex. Meditite the Meditate Pokemon a Fighting and Psychic Type. It never misses its daily yoga workouts and it heightens its spiritual power through meditation." I thanked Swellow and then released Meditite healing him up and telling him I hoped we could become good friends. Meditite eagerly nodded his head in agreement before fist bumping me. After that capture I continued up the mountain and decided to do some training with the newest captures, those being Duskull and Meditite.
As I approached the very top of the mountain I spotted something very unexpected, two elderly people watching over two powerful looking orbs. The two must have heard me approaching and turned to face me. "My seeing someone so young at the top of Mt Pyre. You must be curious about these orbs?" The elderly man spoke and I nodded in agreement. "These are the Blue and Red orbs and they are connected to the legendary Pokemon Kyogre and Groudon respectively. It is our duty to watch over these orbs and keep them safe from those who would do the world harm. Just by looking at you I can see that your a kind hearted and strong trainer. Still you are not prepared to wield this power." The women spoke as she and the man returned to their watch over the orbs while I just stood in shock at knowing that these orbs weren't somewhere more secure. Surely if someone wanted they could simply take those orbs without any problems whatsoever.
I shook my head again and returned down the mountain to train the newest members, releasing them both I watched trying to understand their strengths and weaknesses in order to help them get even stronger. Thankfully it was easy to train Duskull against the majority of Ghost Pokemon so he was getting stronger exceptionally quickly. Our noise must have attracted some attention when a Chimecho floated towards Duskull curious as to what was happening. "Duskull lets see how powerful you've become use Night Shade!" Duskull nodded firing red beams of energy at Chimecho who floated aimlessly somehow managing to dodge Night Shade. Chimecho screeched loudly, using Astonish which was super effective against Duskull but also sounded horrendous against my ears. "Duskull use Night Shade again!" Thankfully, while Chimecho was using Astonish, Duskull managed to land a super effective Night Shade which weakened Chimecho greatly.
"Pokeball go!" I threw a Pokeball at the weakened Chimecho and watched as the ball shook, once, twice before Chimecho broke free. Duskull readied himself for another battle to further weaken Chimecho. "Use Will-O-Wisp" Duskull formed orbs of ghostly fire and threw them at Chimecho who attempted to counter by using Confusion, but several orbs managed to hit Chimecho which secured our victory. I threw another Pokeball and watched as it shook once, twice, three times before the capture was confirmed. "Chimecho has been registered to your Pokedex. Chimecho the Wind Chime Pokemon a Psychic Type. Chimecho emits ultrasonic cries. It floats on the wind to travel great distances."
I healed up Chimecho and he happily introduced himself to Duskull who suddenly began glowing signalling his evolution had been reached already. I was stunned when the floating Duskull was replaced with a Dusclops that walked as a regular human would. "Dusclops has been registered to your Pokedex. Dusclops the Beckon Pokemon a Ghost Type. Its body is hollow. It is said that those who look into its body are sucked into the void." I hoped that was a superstition as when Dusclops embraced me happy at evolving I hadn't disappeared and seemed to be fine. Seems as though the entry had been outdated or people just assumed Ghost Pokemon were dangerous. Still once I realised that everything was fine I returned Dusclops hug and congratulated him on evolving so quickly. He must have been training exceptionally well in his own time. Chimecho also congratulated Dusclops as well.
Meditite was next and I actually had trouble keeping up with him, his training sessions were vigorous and intense and that's when he was fighting. When not he increased his psychic power by meditating. Meditite often encouraged me to join him, but I always struggled to meditate effectively like him. When it came to battling though, Meditite was exceptional and skilled, he was already very powerful when caught thanks to his vigorous training sessions.
I descended down Mt Pyre to have some battles against some of the trainers I had already battled against, this time however, I only used Meditite, Chimecho, Dusclops and Banette. Each one managed to get stronger battling against their weaknesses. Meditite had the slowest progress, simply because while his physical power was top notch, in comparison his psychic power while strong failed to match his physical strength. He wasn't weak though and as such with each victory he got stronger and stronger.
Eventually after our vigorous training session together, which had really tired out the energetic Meditite, he began to glow signalling he was evolving. It was a momentous occasion specifically for Meditite who had been wanting to evolve for such a very long time. When the glow faded, Meditite was replaced by a Medicham who looked down at me his eyes sparkled with happiness. "Medicham has been registered to your Pokedex. Medicham the Meditate Pokemon a Fighting and Psychic Type. Through daily meditation, it hones its spiritual power. It can sense what others are thinking."
In that sense Medicham was much like Gardevoir and Gallade. Gardevoir could sense what i was thinking and feeling and knew when I was happy or needed cheering up. Meanwhile, Gallade and Medicham could now compete as to who was the strongest knight. At least according to those two it was a competition. At that i decided to return to Lilycove City and then head to Mosdeep City and claim my seventh gym badge.
