Chapter Nineteen
"War Approaches"
By
Furry Sith Lord
Lou was finally feeling like his old self again, not that he had a chance to take a hot bath to relax away the knots that felt like his muscles had been tied into. Afterwards Leggo had rubbed down his pelt as he applied antiseptic to the cuts and scratches. He finally dressed and once he put a suit on he was relaxed and knew he was himself again.
Tyger sat next to him but neither were speaking to each other. Everyone else ignored them as they ignored each other. Ben sat next to Tyger and they occasionally whispered to each other. Lou would turn his head towards them when they did but he said nothing.
Lyon and Dash were busy talking about the games that were gonna be played over the weekend. Leggo would chime into their conversation every now and then. Dash kept pressing Leggo to watch the games with them until he finally caved in. Leggo then noticed Lou glaring at him.
Originally he had planned to use the game time as a chance for them to make love without attracting any attention. Even though Leggo was very horney the thought of missing the games could not be deterred. Lou was cursing as he knew his own libedo would go unsatisfied.
"Excuse me Ben," Lou said suddenly and both he and Tyger looked at him.
"Yes sir." Ben replied politely.
"How long was Tyger unconscious after the... accident?"
"Four days. We feared the worst after the first day because we thought he would never wake up." Ben answered. Lou glared at Leggo as he sunk down into his seat. Ben, in the meantime, took Tyger's paw on his own and interlocked their fingers. Tyger leaned in to hug his boyfriend.
"He never left your side." Lyon remarked.
"Neither did you." Ben replied. He smiled as Lyon smiled at him. Tyger smiled because he loved that his brother and boyfriend were getting along.
"If anything ever happened to me, I hope the two of you take care of each other in my place." Tyger said and Ben nodded. Lyon looked at him and his ears lowered.
"But I don't want anything to happen to you." Lyon whined.
"I know but all I'm saying is that 'IF' anything were to happen I just want to rest easy knowing you'll both take care of each other." Tyger said.
"OK... I promise.... but if you die then I swear I'll never talk to you again." Lyon said determinedly.
Lou nearly dropped his fork trying not to start laughing. Even Leggo had a slight case of the giggles but they both tried to hide it. Ben stared at his plate trying to remain stoic and Tyger, knowing his brother, smiled and gave him a solemn promise. Dash was oblivious to the whole thing as he had his mouth stuffed full of vegetables and he had his neck craned so that he could peer into the living room where the news was playing on the television.
"Don't you guys wanna see this?" Dash asked as he quickly swallowed the food he had in his mouth.
"What is it, Dash?" Lou asked. They all turned and saw that a news report was on.
"Thanks Mike, we are just moments away from a historic announcement. The Reverend Lord, as he calls himself, has asked us to be here to witness the rise of his people to power. He wants to hold a press conference to declare his intent of what they plan to do in the future.
So far as we can see every species that they have captured have been turned into pets of the humans. They seem to have lost the ability to speak or have been unable to answer any of our questions.
Things are different here because the humans do not allow their 'pets' to speak or walk upright, or even talk. The collars they wear make them fiercely loyal to their pet owners despite the horrid treatment they receive. Hold on, something is happening over here." A female possum reporter said. The camera angle changed to a human that was holding a treat above the head of his pet in an attempt to make him dance. The other humans were laughing and clapping as they watched the humiliation.
Lou grunted in displeasure as his stomach turned at the sight of it. He knew there were couples that like to role play this kind of behavior and that's fine for them. However to force someone against their will to behave this way was abominable. It was clear that BH wanted to attract attention by humiliating other species.
"What is that white fleabag up to?" Leggo said angrily then he blushed as Tyger, Ben, and Lyon all turned to glare at him in unison. "Oh... sorry guys" He replied embarrassed.
"As audacious as your dad is, boys," they all turned to look at him but they softened their expression. "He is telling the truth... somewhat. BH IS a fleabag." Lou said and he quickly glared at Leggo sending the message of 'stop acting like a puppy.'
"What's audacious mean?" Dash asked as he whispered to Lyon. He shrugged before answering.
"Super cool? I guess." Lyon said and having heard him Tyger turned and glared at his brother then shook his head. Tyger knew full well that his brother knew what the word meant but he didn't have the heart to actually say those words about his dad.
The newscasters continued telling the tale about the humans and how they took over a city and turned the entire population into pets of the humans. There was
The scene of the newscast changed and BH sat on a plain looking throne. He had a couple of humans standing guard next to him. Off to the side a large bull sat nervously looking around. One of the humans spoke to him in a strange language and he seemed to reply back but what they said was unknown. The human seemed to be laughing and enjoying himself while the bull seemed upset.
When the cameras were all pointed upon him, BH rose to address the crowd. The humans gathered in a crowd in front of him with the slaves they owned with them. They cheered and clapped as their leader stood before them. He bowed before them and after several moments he finally stood upright and raised his paws to silence them.
Each slave was humiliated by being forced to sit at their master's feet like pets. None of the slaves were allowed to wear any clothing because the hum,ans believe that slave pets are not worthy to be dressed like their masters.
Their collars instructed them to behave as pets would but also to be fiercely loyal and defend their master's with their lives. The command had also been issued that they were not allowed to speak but instead they felt as if they wore invisible muzzles that prevented them from speaking. Though it was the collar circuitry that did it, they did feel a pressure of an invisible muzzle on their faces.
The humans had collared all the species in the city they conquered. BH said that none of them could be trusted except for himself and Maxx. He planned to have every species collared and turned into pets of the humans. This was his ultimate goal after he retrieved Bear and turned The Diamond Community back into The White Community.
Finally the entire shrewdness of the humans was silent and BH picked up a microphone to address them. The reporters watched with interest to see what the announcement was that they had been invited to witness. The cameras centered upon the white wolf dressed in the finest clothing he had stolen from the stores of the city.
"Human species, inferior others. We are weighed down with years long silence but the hour has now come when at last I can speak frankly. When our beloved prophet first came forward to you you caged and tormented him to suppress his species from ever existing.
It is something that those of my kind have faced for years. Rare White Fur Species are as hated as my humans are. We've banded together due to the injustice of the society to us and the murder of their prophet named Hooman has made us The Humans." BH said and the humans shouted, clapped, and cheered.
"Now I, The Reverend Lord, anointed by Gawd, am declaring war against the species that have abused and persecuted us! We have conquered this small city but soon others will follow until the whole world is under our command. Prepare yourselves for The Human War!!!!!!!!!!!!" BH shouted as the humans cheered loudly. The cameras were tossed aside as the humans captured the reporters and cut the clothing they wore from their bodies as red collars were placed upon them. The humans issued the orders and sealed them by pressing their thumbs to the clasps of the collars. The reporters were helpless as they became pets like the rest of the captured species of the city.
We watched in horror as the events unfolded and the scene broke away back to the safety of the newsroom. I felt Ben squeeze my paw tighter as the news tried to raise public support against BH and his humans. Father quickly turned off the television as he angrily spoke to himself as he thought out loud.
"This is a disaster," Father said.
"He can't be much of a threat with those neanderthal humans." Dad said.
"Remember when they had that one in the laboratory? Hooman they called him. While they were testing him he showed remarkable intelligence. So much so that he was able to learn the common language they began to teach the ape language, they speak, to the scientists. They are a lot smarter than you think. That makes them more dangerous!" My father cautioned.
"But the military still outnumbers them." Ben interjected.
"True son, but what you have to remember is that they have hostages that they can force to fight for them. Innocent species that don't deserve to die in a fruitless war." My father countered.
"Also they have those same pets to teach them how modern weapons work." Dash said. My father grimaced and pet Dash's head and smiled. Sure Dash had just basically repeated what my father said but he was at least trying to be part of the conversation.
"How the armies take it is the real matter at hand." I said and my father reached out to pet me but I folded my arms across my chest and he stopped and smiled.
"Tyger is correct. They may hold off and view this threat as a pathetic bluff. However, that will only last but for so long. Soon they may attack regardless of the casualties." My father said.
"What can we do? Innocent lives are at stake?" Ben asked.
"We need to sort all this out carefully. I'll need your help because I've been away for far too long to know what the current events are." My father said,
"Same thing with myself." I replied.
"Do we know what BH wants? Maybe we can use it as a bargaining chip?" Lyon asked.
"Lyon, excellent thinking! Last, I remember he was telling me that he wanted Bear back to rebuild The White Citadel." My father cried.
"Well... Bear won his court case so he must be back at his home preparing for his next commercial or movie." Ben said.
"We may need my contacts at C.I.Z.A. to help us." My dad said solemnly. We all turned to look at him. "What?! They've been trying to recruit me for jobs."
"I may be forced to do the unthinkable." A strange silence hung in the air as the impact of those words hit us. We were wondering what he was talking about when he explained their cryptic meaning.
"I may have to remove Melk's collar in order to have Merrik re-emerge so we can have him contact his superiors at C.I.Z.A. We may need them if we hope to avoid a deadly war."
"You can't be serious! Do you know what that'll do?!!!" Leggo said and my father nodded solemnly.
"And once he's free he may never.... go back to being Mel ever again." Leggo said.
"I understand but what other choice do we have? Release Bear?! It will be the same situation. At least Merrik won't try and rebuild The White Citadel." Lou said.
"No... he'll do something much worse." I muttered and my father flinched.
"This is insane! He knows he doesn't have the power to stand up to the army and the governing powers. What is he thinking?!!!" Ben exclaimed.
"That's his problem, he wasn't thinking. He's very rash and impulsive. He acts first and thinks of the consequences later." I said as I forced myself to let go of Ben's paw. I needed more mobility as we tried to reason all this out. It was a struggle though because he gave me a strength that only he could just by simply holding my paw.
"What about Sanic? Wouldn't he know a few things about BH... or whatever he calls himself now?" Lyon asked.
"That's a good point son," Leggo said and he went over4 and kissed Lyon on his head. I swiftly went over and kissed Dash on the head because his face looked like he was going to act up for being left out. It quickly calmed him but I saw Ben smirk at me knowing what I had done and he found it amusing.
Dash often gets forgotten because he's not on the same level, intellectually, as we are. Even my brother has an advantage because of Uncle Jon's tutoring. The thing is that he really tries hard to be part of the team and we try to give him some encouragement so that he's not left out. We don't want to crush his dreams or make him feel inferior compared to us.
The truth is that he is part of our family whether he knows it or not. We want to continue to encourage him so that he can strive to be the best. We don't want his dreams crushed because we overlooked him. He, in fact, helped my brother a great deal by becoming his first and best friend!
After the abuse my brother faced by his adult with the constant beatings, we wondered if he's ever find peace and be able to function normally. Thanks to the loving care of my father and my dad we were able to help him but Dash was the biggest one out of all of us to change my brother's life. Even I can't help at times feeling left out.
I only wish that I could get revenge against his birth father for beating him as a baby cub. That way I could give my brother the justice he deserves!!! I only wish that the time machine actually worked then I'd go back and save my brother.
The maid entered and looked around angrily that we were messing up the living room. I noticed that Dash, Leggo, and even Ben had brought their plates of food into the living room as we were watching the news.
"Sorry," Dash started ro say but she quickly took a carrot out of her pocket and gave it to him to snack on as she turned her fury towards Lou and Leggo.
"You two are grown ass adults and this is how you behave?!" She said and my dad hid behind my father. He looked ready to hide behind the sofa and he cleared his throat trying to retain a modicum of respect.
"My apologies but there was an urgent matter to see to." My father tried to explain but her cold hard stare quickly silenced him. It was funny how the maid was like a mother to all of us and even my father, her employer, bowed to her wishes when she put her foot down.
"And what was so urgent?"" She asked cynically.
"The humans declared war!!!!!" Dash replied as he munched on the carrot. She reached one of her wings out and pet his head approvingly. My father filled her in and she gasped as she heard the explanation.
"Lemmy guess, you two are gonna do something foolish now because you feel the need to and leave these wonderful children alone and scared." She replied.
"If we don't think of something then the war will put all of us in danger." My father retorted.
"Yeah," Leggo said and a hard look from the maid made him hide his face behind Lou's back again. Suddenly my dad's cell phone rang and he pulled it out to answer it.
"Hey Sanic, what's up?" He asked after he saw that his friend was calling. Lou quickly took the phone from him.
"Sanic, sorry it's me.... no I'm not dead... I'll explain the whole thing later. Right now have you seen the news?" He paused again as Sanic began to ramble on with what he heard on the news.
"I'm glad you called. Sorry but my phone was lost so I gotta get a new one. We heard the announcement too. I can't believe that fool is doing something soooo stupid. Yes, I agree we must do something because he's endangering a lot of species with this whole war nonsense. Hold on," Lou said as the newscast suddenly had a screen pop up that said Breaking News.
The scene changed to outside the city that the humans had captured. A large army was building and they completely surrounded the city with tanks and soldiers. Several tents had been erected to provide shelter for the army and a command center
A German Shepherd dressed in the uniform of a general stood next to a skittish looking feline. The German Shepherd had dark colored fur that looked black in the green uniform he wore. His ears stuck straight up ridged. One eye had a scar across it and the eye was completely white indicating he was blind in it.
The feline was a light gray and had thin black lines covering her making her look like a miniature gray tiger. Her bright yellow eyes were full of fear and her posture was that she was ready to bolt at the slightest sound. She wore a black suit that hugged her curves and ameliorated her female side. Even the dog had a slight smirk as he studied her body.
"Thanks Phil," She said as her voice sounded strained. She was probably fearful of being captured and turned into pets like the previous reporters were. Even if she was surrounded by soldiers.
"I'm here with General Sharp Fang, as he prefers to be called. General, this is a massive deployment of army forces to isolate this small minor city. Why the huge show of force?" She asked and her posture looked as if she was afraid to be struck by the general.
"Thank you for having me on Sandra. Due to the violent apprehension of the guests, of the media, that were captured and are being held hostage after being invited. We were forced to mobilize. This threat that has publicly declared war requires immediate attention to ensure the safety of the hostages.
The continued humiliating of the species being held will not be tolerated even if the humans don't know better. All species deserse some modicrumb of respect be they slaves or held hostage. Because of that this behavior will not be tolerated.
We have surrounded and are completely cutting this city off from the rest of society. Provided they show no further aggression, we will remain stationary and merely keep the city quarantined. Without supply of food, water, and power we expect a quick surrender from the humans. This should help prevent any loss of life unless they foolishly attempt to attack then their aggression will be met with greater force.
I now plead with the one that named himself The Reverend Lord to surrender peacefully or face the full might of the military. We seek no harm to the prisoners but we will meet you force for force should you attempt any foolishness to try and attack. The primitives you have cannot hope to match or even compete with our well trained force." The General said.
"Well that buys very little time," My father said as he leaned in close to watch the television. He was obstructing the view for the rest of us but we let him. Knowing my father like we do her was going to intervene one way or another. The trouble was wondering how the rest of us would factor in.
"Do you think we even have a hope of a chance to stop all this?" Leggo asked.
"Of course, provided we act quickly and BH... er Reverend Lord doesn't do anything stupid because he's tired of waiting. That's the tricky part. This is gonna be a race against the clock." Lou replied.
"This is madness! I'm sorry sir," Ben exclaimed then he blushed as my father glared at him sternly because he called him 'sir' and not 'father' as he had instructed him. "Sorry, I mean father, but you can't possibly think you have any chance of getting between these two forces and hoping to stop them!"
"I know it's thrilling isn't it! Not only will I stop them but set everything to right... one way or another. With my sons and husband by my side we can't lose." ?Lou exclaimed. I heard Dash cheer from behind me. We were all his sons one way or another although technically Ben was only his son because he saw us as tying our paws when we grew up. He was technically a son-in-law but my father would never see him as an in-law. He would be 100% his son, like I am, though we would not be brothers but instead soon-to-be husbands.
"This... is insane. Two armies are preparing to kill each other and you think you can get between them and expect both sides to surrender?!" Ben exclaimed.
"Do you really think I can't do it?" Lou asked with an evil gleam in his eyes.
"Ut oh," I replied and grabbed Ben's paw to pull him away before he got trapped by one of my father's schemes. Unfortunately he would not bulge!
"That sounds like a bet!" My father said and Lyon, Dash, and my dad all repeated the same thing I said as they realized what was coming.
Ben suddenly changed his expression from shocked to fearful as he suddenly realized he was caught in my father's trap.
"Welcome to being part of the family." I whispered to him and I saw my father smirking at me.
"You're on!" Benyamin replied and I slapped my forehead not believing that he was playing into my father's hooves.
"Fine. State your wager." Lou dictated.
"If I win and you fail then Tyger will be allowed to visit my family. They've been wanting to see him." Ben said and Lou did a double take.
"Is... that it?" He asked, then looked at me and I shrugged. "You could have had that at any time. No, we are playing for real. Make a real bet."
"Gee.... I dunno I'll have tro think about it." Ben replied as he was blushing.
"Fine and if I win then you'll begin training to be vice president of my company. You will become an integral part of both the family and the business. You will need to learn how to run things when my son is busy engaging in projects like this."
"Is that all? Shit I was hoping to do that anyway. Seems we both need time to think of a proper reward for winning." Ben replied and my father smirked.
"You are definitely one of my sons. I can't wait for you two to tie your paws together." Lou remarked and my mouth dropped open. My father walked up to me and used his hoof to close my mouth.
"Very well, we'll put the wager on hold until we both properly think of something, agreed?" Lou asked as he stuck out his hoof.
"Agreed." Ben replied as he shook his paw with my father's hoof. I looked at them and felt my tummy getting that queasy feeling like I jumped off a high cliff....
