A Birthday gift

I sat in my office of my apartments, I had a cigarette loosely hanging from my mouth as I stared up at my ceiling. I was dealing with a blockage, pertaining to my piece of work that dealt with the Holidays and how it made us all feel. I recently had something magical to happen, that even at this moment I still had trouble believing it happened.

I recently confessed my feelings to a coworker who has been my friend for the last year. See I work as a journalist at a local newspaper company for my town and the surrounding counties. It was a decent size town and with the combined total of the surrounding counties. My company easily have several hundred thousand subscribers. Recently we’ve been nearing a million and with it my department has more to write and produce for readers. It pays pretty good, it pays for my apartment and any hobbies I get into.

I continued to stare up at my ceiling. I couldn’t get that night out of my head.

‘Flashback’

I slowly opened my eyes as I felt something against me. I my eyes widen a bit as I saw who was cuddled up to me. Merril was sleeping soundly with her head up against my chest. My eyes rolled up as I recalled the previous night. Honestly it wasn’t hard to remember it all. It was about eleven at night and I had decided to hit her up to go share a few drinks with her at our normal bar that we tended to go to. I smiled as I remembered confessing to her. Merril accepted me and returned her feelings twice fold. When the bar closed that night, I remember how I felt and it honestly showed on my face. I never could hide my feelings. She say this and agreed with me. Of course I gave her a kiss one last time and headed for my car. Though I didn’t get far as she wrapped herself around me, burying her face into my back.

In her angelic voice she told me she wanted to come home with me. I turned around and once again took her into my arms, planting a kiss on her lips

We soon went back to my apartment and we did things.

I looked at her with a smile, her ear flicked as I blew a line of air towards it.

She murmured, staying asleep. “Hungry.” I snickered a bit. As my mistress wishes. I slowly pealed myself from her and I scooted over to the edge of the bed. Though I failed to get my legs under me so I fell off the bed and landed on my butt. I quickly looked at Merril who didn’t even budge. I nodded and took on a serious look on my face.

I stood up and walked out of my room. I went across the hall to my bathroom. I quickly brushed my teeth and grabbed a fresh set of clothes to put on. I was still completely naked from the night before. I of course didn’t want to walk about my apartment in the nude. I have more self respect than that. So once I got dressed, I walked out to my living room and into my kitchen. I opened my fridge looking around inside. I wondered what would she like. I wanted to surprise her with breakfast. I remembered I had some steak up in the freezer that I was saving for a special occasion. I guess this counts as that. So I pulled it out and began to thaw it out in a microwave. Normally I would set it out and let it thaw at room temp but I didn’t have that luxury. I wanted to have this idea of breakfast ready before she woke up. I pulled out eggs, some sausage as well. I also pulled a thing of premade biscuits and went to work.

I started on making up sausage patties mainly because I wanted to make a rue for a gravy. I had a great talent when it came to cooking specially if I was cooking for someone. I put some music on and continued my work.

Very soon the whole apartment smelled of sausage and gravy. Once the steaks were completely thaw I began on cooking them out. I didn’t know how she normally like her steak at. I considered it for a moment before settling on medium. Still a little pink in the middle. The same way I tend to like it myself.

By the time I placed the biscuits in the oven. I felt arms wrapped around my sides and I felt something lay their head on my shoulder as if peering over me to see what I was doing.

“Hey honey, aren’t you awfully nice. Making breakfast?” Merril said to me.

I turned my head and planted a kiss on her lips.

“Yeah I figured I’d surprise you. Though I was trying to get it done before you got up.” I told her. Sounding a little defeated.

“Awe, don’t worry. I couldn’t exactly ignore the smell of everything. Wait is that steak?” She spotted the two big slabs of meat cooking in a skillet on the back burner.

I smiled at her. “Like I said, I wanted to surprise you. Hope your hungry, I’m making to full course breakfast. Complete with my special biscuit and sausage gravy.” I said as I started cracking several eggs. “I’m making some cheesy egg too.” I told her.

She licked her lips and rubbed her stomach, anticipating what I was cooking.

“If ya want you can go watch some tv. I have most streaming networks.” I told her. She shook her head.

“And miss watching your amazing cooking skills. I had no idea you could cook. Though I never asked.” She giggled. I turned towards her and nearly fell over in shock. I haven’t seen her fully because I mainly had my back towards her cooking.

She didn’t have any pants nor panties on, though she did have a t-shirt which I realized was mine that extended down towards her hips. It hid a little of her area. She tilted her head to one side.

“What honey?” She cooed at me.

“I… uh uhm…. Can you put some clothes on please? I love you yes, but I can’t concentrate with you like that. At least go put some panties on or something.” I said. Her eyes narrowed and took on a evil grin across her face.

She brought her hands up, lifting her breast up a bit, pressing them together. It caused the t-shirt to lift up enough to reveal a the rest of her area.

“What wrongs with going a little nude huh?” She cooed at me with a evil grin. I turned her around a swatted her on the butt.

She yipped, “Have some decency. You are my lady. Have some self respect.”

She ran off holding her hand to her butt. Though I must admit the antics was severely cute. She almost immediately came back wearing her blue lacey panties. I felt a little better. I went back to finishing up our breakfast.

She stood behind, as I started to plate up our food. I went over to my table that sat in the farthest section of the kitchen. I placed both plates on either side. Merril sat down on one side. I asked her what she wanted to drink.

"Milk would be nice.” She replied.

I poured both of us two decent size glasses of milk and sat down across from her. She closed her hands together and thanks me for the food.

I smiled. “Not a problem.” I said blushing a bit.

I watched as she dove into her food. Starting first with the steak. Well she is a canine so of course she going to like meat. “Oh my god Will. This taste amazing. What did you do to it?”

With a single finger I scratched the side of my face, I laughed a bit. “Just simple seasoning.” I started to cut my steak up though I dove into my biscuits and gravy first. Its my favorite.

“This is amazing.” She said again. “Can you come cook for me more?” She said. Her eyes sparkling at me. I honestly never seen this side of her.

I laughed. “I don’t mind. But don’t you normally cook anyway?” I asked. I was a bit curious.

“No, not really. I’m not very good at it. Most of my stuff ends up awful. I don’t have the talent for cooking. So normally I just eat out a lot.” She told me. The comment honestly surprised me. That must’ve cost a lot to keep up with. “It’s costing me a fortune to just keep myself fed.”

I took another bite and chewed my food before saying, “Well if you come over more often. I’d be more than happy to cook for you. I haven’t cook for anybody it such a long time. I enjoy it.”

She yipped in excitement. Her breast jiggled as she did this. I couldn’t help but stare. I noticed her hair was a bit tangled from sleeping.

“I’m also good at grooming. Well combing and brushing.” I put my hands on my mouth blushing at what I said.

She looked at me, her blue eyes staring hard at me. A smile ran across her face as she looked down. She continued to eat her food.

“After this, wanna take a bath?” I abruptly looked up from my food. Her eyes stared back at me. She was dead serious. I blinked several times, I honestly didn’t know how to react to her remark. It took the breath out of me. My heart skipped a beat.

Her eyes narrowed again, smiling at me.

“I mean you don’t have…….”

“No I want to, I was just taken aback by it.” We soon finished our breakfast. Merril leaned back in her chair, rubbing her stomach and licking her lips. She looked like she really enjoyed the food, which made my spirits soar. I stood up, picking her finished plate and mine up. I quickly cleaned up from breakfast.

Merril took my hand into hers and tugged on mine. We slowly walked back down the hall. My bathroom was divided into two parts. One was where you’d normally store your clothes and towels and etc. There was a vanity style sink that sat on one side and a toilet sat near the door adjacent to the sink. The second part was honestly my favorite part about my bathroom. I had a open face shower that did have a tub for baths but the shower area was completely opened. Two people could easily fit inside.

Merril gave me a look once we entered. ‘oh shit she wants me.’ I knew that look. I heard a little growl as she threw her self on me, planting a kiss on my lips. I tilted my head a little and accepted the gesture. We stayed like this for a time. I leaned myself up against the counter of the sink. We touched tongues and wrapped around each other. I tasted her once more. Of course she tasted of breakfast and that other taste that I just couldn’t place. Something about just felt intoxicating. My hands roamed over her, grabbing her in different areas.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LITTLE BRO!” I winced a little as a smile ran across my face. Oh yeah it is my birthday today isn’t it. Looking at the date.

“Well thank you, I wasn’t expecting you to call so early.” I said.

“Ah you know I had to call you. I’m just heading in to work and was thinking of you. How you been?” He replied.

“I’ve been good, work’s been loading on the articles. I’ve been working on one that has to do to the holidays and how it effects us.” I told him.

“Sounds interesting, can I ask you something?” he asked.

“Sure Tim, What’s up?” I said.

“Well have you met anybody recently.” He said.

I bout fell out of my chair. “What was that?” He asked hearing the noise.

“Nothing just bout fell out my chair. Uhm so yeah well.” I started to trip over my words a bit. Trying to find the correct way to put it. Why of all now is he asking about this? Does he know. No He couldn’t have.

“Sort of, I’ve been friends with this girl for the last year.” I said. I heard Tim whistle.

“Who is she, what’s her name?” He shot rapid fire questions.

“Her name is Merril.” I told him.

“Well she must be something if you taken a liking to her. It’s not everyday that you find someone. Have yall done anything?” He asked. Not missing a beat.

“Uhm not really. But I have been considering on asking her out.” I lied. I don’t know why my first impulse is to lie. I should just be honest. “No I take that back. Yeah we have already done somethings. It all happened a week or so ago.”

“Way to go little bro. I knew you had it in you. I mean I always hoped that one day you’d find someone again.” He said to me.

My felt my face grow hot. “There’s something else you should know too.”

“She’s not human is she?” He quickly said. Damn it how the hell does he know me so well. I mean yeah we’re brothers but goddamn.

I chuckled a bit. “No she isn’t, she a beastfolk. A canine beastfolk to be precise.”

Damn it he knows me too well. Well we are brothers after all. “I honestly don’t know, she did tell me two days ago that she had something in mind for me but I honestly don’t know what it is.” I told him.

“Must be something special. Well little bro, I’m pulling up to my work now. Treat her well and don’t let her down. I’ve heard that beastfolk are extremely loyal to their loved ones.” He told me.

“I know and I will. I cooked her breakfast the morning after uhm nevermind.” I trailed off. Tim roared on the other end in laughter.

“Alright little bro. Have a good day. Cj may give you a call later. But if your busy with your girlfriend don’t worry I’m sure he’ll understand. I also sent you something in the mail. Should be there tomorrow.” He told me. We told each other that we loved one another and hung up the phone. I leaned back in my chair and popped a cigarette in my mouth. I lit it up and blew a line of smoke into the air.

I smiled as I thought of Merril. She truly has turned into my darling angel. I’m so glad that I had her in my life. It’s only been a week since we actually started to date. I have taken her out to dinner a few times already and my god the sex was amazing. Once that button was pushed she turned into such a beast in bed. I have the claw marks on my back to prove it. I chuckled a bit. Though I did wonder one thing, when we first did it. I realized that she was still a virgin and ever since I often wondered why she and her previous lover never did anything. Did she somehow knew it wasn’t going to work out or something. Though I honestly have decided not to ask her mainly out of respect and I didn’t want to bring back painful memories.

“Honestly just give her all the love and treat her as such.”

I turned my music back on and went back to work on my article. I had decided since today was my birthday i would work from home. I honestly didn’t want the attention. I normally spend my birthdays alone.

I typed away for awhile, until I stopped mainly because the article was completed. I didn’t have much left to do on it. I’ve been working on it for a week now. This was going to be my best one yet. People were going to love it. As it talked about how people should appreciate the people and things that they have in their lives. Be grateful for what they had. Among other deeper meaningful topics.

I tucked the file into a folder and attached it to an email and sent it to my manager. I immediately got a response from him. His name was Brandon and he’s been my manager since the beginning.

“Thanks bub, I’ll send this over to the workers in the press room and submit it to be in the paper. Probably tomorrow or the next day. Also Happy birthday man. I hope you have a wonderful day. Why not take the rest of the day off? I put it in as paid time off for you. You’ve earned it.” He wrote.

I sent back, “Thanks man, I hope people like it. I worked pretty hard on this article for the last week now. I’m probably going to hang with Merril at some point. She said she had something special for me.”

He quickly wrote back. “Oh gonna hang with Merril. She such a sweet girl. Lucky dog you are to catch her eye. Well have fun, go on an take tomorrow off too if you want. You don’t have to but I want to stress that you’ve been a big impact on this company. Mr. young has been very pleased with your overall work.”

My face grew hot. I wrote back. “Again thanks man, I think i will take tomorrow off. There a place I want to go to.”

He simply wrote back a thumbs up and a peace sign. I chuckled a bit. I looked at the time and realized that it was only noon. I stood up feeling my body pop in different places.

I decided to go take a shower. I haven’t had one since the previous day and I wanted to smell nice for Merril when she got here. I walked myself out of my office and went down the hall. My apartment had two bedrooms, I normally kept one room as my office to work in. I had bookshelves full of many different kinds of books. All ranging from fictional to non fictions.

I went down the hall and into my two section bathroom. I undress myself throwing my laundry immediately into the washer. I picked out my clothes next and laid them down on the vanity counter top. I looked myself in the mirror. Noting my massive red beard that I had. I’ve always had it. I mean since I was bald up top, I normally kept a beard. You could say that it was my most favorable feature. Merril absolutely loved it. One of her favorite things to do with my beard was rub her face in it. Glad I normally kept it clean.

I stepped into the second part of the bathroom where the actual shower was at. I turned the water on and waited for it to warm up. Soon steam filled the air around me. I held out a hand to test the water, once satisfied I stepped in. I signed in relief as the hot water ran down my body. Taking showers were honestly one of my most favorite pass times. It’s not the point of getting clean, it’s the enjoyment of hot water running down your body. Truly washing away any thing. I held my head down allowing the water to run over my head and down my back. My thoughts soon went to Merril. I honestly haven’t been able to get her off my mind as of late. I mean considering I am dating her, I shouldn’t be surprise about it. I normally do these sort of things anyway.

I ran my hand through my beard, getting it completely saturated with water. I grabbed one of my bottles of shampoo and squirted a small amount into my hand. I started to lather my beard up as I combed my fingers through it. My beard wasn’t long as it was more thick. So I had to make extra sure to actually get into it.

I rinsed and repeated the process at least two times before I switched over to my conditioner. I did the same thing until I felt satisfied with how it felt to my fingers. What can I say my beard is my pride and joy. I have to keep up with it. I don’t like it when it starts to smell.

I finished up by washing the rest of my body with body wash. I normally used something that smelt like pine. Really bring the smell of man out. I chuckled at that thought. I finished my shower and stepped out. I grabbed my bathrobe and by this time I heard a distinct knock at my door. I walked out and headed towards the door. Of course I tied my bath robe closed with a belt. I looked through my peep hole and saw Merril looking back. I smiled and opened it up.

“Hey there, I wasn’t expecting you till later.” I said. I notice that she was blushing deeply. She kept looking side to side, trying her best not to look at me.

I realized that it was because I was literally in just a bath robe. I laughed a bit. “Oh come on Merril, you’ve seen me before.” I said in defense.

She brought both arms down on both side holding her hands in little fists. Her face completely red.

“I know but first thing, I wasn’t expecting it. Go put some clothes on.” She managed to say.

I laughed as I turned around and made my way back to my bathroom. Though before I turned into it. I slowly pulled my robe up to reveal my butt. Her face grew redder, “Will you stop?” I laughed even harder. Her cuteness was too much. Once I was in my bathroom, I took my robe off and slipped on some undergarments. “I am sorry for that, but I know you loved it.”

“Yeah but still. We just started dating Will.” She said in the other room. By the sound of it she had made her way to my bedroom which was directly across from the bathroom. I than realized that the door was still opened. I wondered if she had full view.

I stood in front of my vanity mirror and started to comb my beard. I brushed it out of all knots that had accumulated from drying it off. I picked up my hair dryer and started blowing hot air into my beard. I did the process for a couple of moments until I was satisfied with the result. I looked myself in the mirror pondering if I should braid it. Thinking against it, I finished getting dress. Pulling on my favorite t-shirt that had my favorite anime on it. Yeah I’m into that. I am a nerd at my core. I pulled jeans on and sprayed a little body spray on to complete the process. I felt like a new man. Which was always the case when I took a shower. I walked out and into my bedroom where I found Merril laying on my covers. She was reading something on her phone. Her ears perked up as she saw me.

“Hey handsome, decided to put some clothes on huh.” She said. I crawled in with her and laid next to her. We took each other in our arms.

“Happy Birthday big guy.” She said. I tilted my head to one side.

"But I’m not that big.” I said. She giggled at me. Though I have always been a little insecure about my weight. Though I wasn’t fat per say but I was big. I had a belly. Though the rest of me was decently toned.

“Honey, stop being insecure. I love every thing about you. I don’t care if you are a bit heavy. Your like a cuddly teddy bear.” She giggled poking my mid section. I laughed with her. I hugged her bring her head close to my chest. She wrapped her arms around me. We laid there on the bed for a little while.

“So have you been wondering what I got planned for you?” she suddenly asked.

Merril looked at me with her blue eyes. Her ears fully extended up above her head. A smile ran across her face.

“I have.” I said simply. Her expression dropped a bit, as if she was expecting something more. “What, I have been wondering what it is. I just been busy working on completing that one article I’m sorry.”

She quickly smiled at me. “Well I figured I’d treat you today. Is there anything you want to do?”

She said the wrong thing. Asking me what I want to do. I took on a evil grin as I moved my hand over her breast and groped her. I watched her as she brought her hand up and moan into her hand. Her face started turning red. She managed to look at me.

“You didn’t.” I said looking at her in disbelief.

She merely smiled at me tenderly. “Oh I have darling. We’re going to Mr. Iwaziku. I booked our reservation four days ago. I wanted to treat you. You’ve been working hard.”

I kissed her, I wasn’t expecting that kind of date. Though I looked at her. Her overall attire didn’t really speak high end restaurant apparel.

She picked up on my question look. “I have a change of clothes in my car. I was going to change after awhile. I booked us both for six. I also bought us some tickets for a movie as well.”

“What movie?” I said looking at her. She smiled.

“I can’t give you all the clues. Let it be a surprise.” She said booping me on my nose.

I looked at my clock on the bedside table. We still had four hours to get ready.

A sparkle shot through my eyes as I looked about her. Merril yipped as my hands once again moved over her. “You so frontal aren’t you.” Merril said to me as she moaned and squirmed under me.

I slowly lifted my self up, sitting at the edge on the bed. I looked around, I noticed a small suit case. “That yours?”

“Yeah it’s got what I’m going to where tonight plus something special for later. I hope you don’t mind me staying over tonight.” Merril said getting up off the bed.

“Of course not. You know I love it when you stay over.” I replied. I got up, I walked out of my room and went across the hall to my bathroom. I picked out something a little more formal to wear. Since we were going to such a nice restaurant, plus I wanted to look nice for my love.

I decided on a simple polo shirt and some tan khakis. I sprayed on some more body spray as well as some actual deodorant for my pits. Merril came walking in, she had changed into her dress. My jaw dropped as I saw her. She wore a red dress that complimented her curvy figure. She also don on a little make up and some lipstick as well. She was absolutely stunning. I literally got sprung again.

Merril saw this and slowly ran her hand over my groin. “That gonna have to wait till later honey.” She planted a kiss on my lips and turned away. She swayed her hips as she walked out the bathroom. Her tail hypnotically swayed side to side. I followed behind her. I grabbed my jacket and keys.

“I’m driving sweetie.” She told me.

“But I always drive.” I protested.

She shook her head. “Not tonight. Like I said I want to treat you tonight. Is that not okay.” Merril gave me a pouty face, throwing her bottom lip out.

I smiled, “Sure as my lady wishes. I’m along for the ride.”

She closed her eyes giving me a broad grin. Merril grabbed my hand and led me out the door of my apartment. Cold air hit my face. I noticed that it was starting to snow. It normally does around my birthday.

There were some accumulation on the ground but the roads were fine. I followed her to her car. She drove a hatchback. It was kinda sporty, had a spoiler on the back trunk. I opened the passenger door and got inside. She did the same on the driver. She started the car and backed out of parking lot.

It honestly felt little weird having her drive. Considering I always drove us both everywhere in my car. Though I smiled as I placed my hand on her hip as she drove down the road. Merril returned the gesture putting her furred hand on top of mine. I looked out the window as I watched the houses pass by. I saw all the Christmas light all lit up and flashed in different brilliant colors.

“You know I remember always going around town looking at all the lights. It was one of my mother favorite thing to do for us kids.” I said. She glanced as me smiling.

“Where does she live, maybe we can go see her?” She asked.

I winced a little. I never revealed much about my parents to her. So it was an honest question. "She no longer around." I said quietly. Merril gasped, realizing what she said.

“Oh I’m sorry baby, I didn’t mean to.” Merril said. She rubbed my hand.

“Its okay I never told you. It was one of my most painful memories. I don’t normally bring it up. Yeah my mother passed when I was still young.” I told her.

“What was she like?” Merril asked, showing curiosity towards my mother.”

“Well she had her issues, it’s where I get most my problems too. The saying goes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Though my mother was my whole world when I was young.” I said. “I came home one day during summer break. I had gotten myself a summer job to start saving for a car for us and I came home and found her.”

“I’m sorry honey. I didn’t mean to bring up something painful.” She said. Her concern was prevalent.

I shook my head, smiling towards her. “No it’s fine, you honestly didn’t know and it’s been sixteen years now. I’ve long let her go at this point. I do occasionally remember the good times. I mean why should I be sad I have the most kind and caring plus the most beautiful person in my life.”

She cooed at me, she briefly looked at me placing a furred hand on my cheek. “Your so sweet.”

“I mean it. If my mother was still around she would’ve absolutely love you. Probably be wondering when she would expect grand children.” I laughed a bit.

Merril giggled too. “I mean, it won’t be long to be honest honey. Remember you took my virginity and one fact that we canines have about us. Once that part is taken away, we go through something like estrus, like how actual canines in this world go into heat. I haven’t had mine yet.”

My eyes went wide a bit. I honestly was taken aback by this. “I didn’t know that. What normally happens?”

“Well our bodies normally will heat up tremendously. For females, our area will swell a little and take on a redder appearance. Normally we can’t get pregnant from just normal sex.” Merril went on.

“So how do you get pregnant then?” I asked.

“Normally during our heat cycle but it can also happen just after too. We have a couple weeks where our deeper area stays opened.” She said.

“That is honestly fascinating.” I said in astonishment.

“I’m glad that my species heat cycle fascinates you.” She giggled.

We went silent for awhile. Though a thought proceed to force itself into my head. “Uhm how do you feel about having kids?” I said.

Merril swerved a bit, I instinctively reach up to a handle.

“I…I… uhm haven’t really thought about to be honest. I mean I wouldn’t mind it. I just never thought I’d make a good mother.” Merril said.

“What are you talking about? You’re the nicest person I’ve ever met, your caring and loving. I think you’d be an amazing mother.” I told her. She smiled at me.

“Ah aren’t you sweet. Well I know if our relationship evolved deeper, we would eventually start a family." She said.

“Well I have some experience, at least from my first.” I said.

“Yeah I know.” I did tell her a bit about my son and my ex. I had too, I didn’t want it to be an issue when the time came.

“How old is your son now?” She asked.

“Thirteen now, I still can’t believe he’s already a teenager now.” I said.

I took notice of our surroundings, we were on the mall side of my town. It huge shopping mall laid out on one side of the road. Of course there were a ton of other business, from shopping centers, like Walmart to restaurants. There was also a movie theater which is the one we will go to after dinner.

“Have you thought about having more kids than your son?” Merril asked giving me a side eye glance.

“Well honestly, at first for a time after what happened with my ex. Also with how I was with my son. I told myself to not ever have more kids. Reasons why is because it mainly had to do with how the world was during that time frame. Grant the world has drastically improved dramatically. We are starting to really take care of our home planet. But I still have my doubts. I just want my sons and daughters to prosper. I want to see them grow and become something great than I could.”

“That’s okay to think that way. I just want my pups to live happy lives with whatever they decided to do.” She said.

Merril pulled into a parking lot of a small restaurant.

There was a oriental style neon sign stood at the top of a long pole. I smiled at Merril as she looked at me. “Ready to stuff your face?”

I nodded, I got out of the car. We walked up to the entrance arm in arm.

We were greeted by an Asian women who kindly asked for our names. She saw my face a proceeded to blush.

“Are you Mr. Furrow?” She asked, her accent heavy in her voice.

I looked at Merril who wore an expression that I couldn’t place. “Uhm yes I am.”

“Oh. My. God. I’ve read all your articles in the paper and some of your views are so accurate.” The Asian women said.

I scratched the side of my face in embarrassment. Merril chimed in at this point. “We’re here for our reservation. Mr. William Furrow and Merril Everthine.”

The women blinked and looked down at her clipboard. She nodded and motioned for us to follow.

She took us towards the back of a room. Several tables for seating four sat in rows. The walls were lined with booths. The women took us towards a booth that sat in a corner. Which I honestly preferred this. I didn’t want attention. Because of my work with the paper and the work that I have done in the past. I sort of made a name for myself. Many new who I was, I even got offered to go work for a news network company. I just like writing. I’ve also wrote and published a few books. Some sold really well.

Merril sat herself across from me, wrapping her tail around her waist. She looked at me. “Do you know what you want?”

“No.” I chuckled. The women walked away and soon our waitress came walking up holding two menus in her arms.

“What can I get started for you two? What will you be drinking tonight?” She said.

I took a quick glance at the menu to remember what kind of drinks they had.

“Why not get something a little spikey? I’m driving, I wouldn’t mind.” Merril said. I looked at her.

I smiled. “And risk not remembering any of tonight. No I’ll just have a normal cherry soda.” Merril smiled at with affection of her face.

“I’ll have some cola.” Merril said. “And to start us off, we’ll have some pot stickers.”

“Beef or pork?” The waitress asked.

Merril gave me a questioning look, “I think beef will be fine. Thank you.”

The waitress thanked us and walked off to get our drinks and put the order for pot stickers in.

Me and Merril were left there to stare and one another. I couldn’t get over how beautiful she was tonight. I mean she always beautiful but with the make up and the lip stick. Just made her features pop more. She smiled at me, reading my face.

I blushed a bit as my eyes drifted to looking out a window next to our booth. I noticed the snow was starting to come down a bit harder.

“So going back on our earlier conversion. Why were you asking about kids?” She asked me. She placed a furred hand on top on my hand which I had lying on the table.

“Well to be honest, I can’t imagine my life with anyone but you Merril. I know if we keep up with our life style your going to get pregnant.” I said.

“Not necessarily, I can’t get pregnant unless I’m in my heat cycle.” She said.

“Oh yeah I forgot about that already, you did explain that one to me. I often wondered why you opted me to not wear condoms. However the thought still stands. Would you want to have kids with me? I love you and even though we just started to date. I can’t imagine my life without. I just can’t, you’ve truly made me a happy man.” I told her.

She cooed at me, “Aww thank you sweetie, that means a lot to me. I wouldn’t mind having your kids Will. I mean the thought has crossed my mind and every time it normally makes me feel warm and fuzzy.”

“Can we even have kids. Even if we’re two different species?” Merril’s face dropped a bit. It appeared this peculiar thought never occurred to her.

She regained her composure. “I don’t see a reason why not. Beastfolk and humans aren’t that different.”

We fell silent for awhile. We opted to just stare at one another.

Soon after ten minutes or so the waitress returned with not only our drinks but our pot stickers as well.

“Have you two decided on a main course?” She asked.

Merril and I both order a couple different styles of sushi and asked for plenty of wasabi and of course chopsticks.

I looked at the steaming pot stickers and plucked one from the plate. I popped it in my mouth and literally had a mouthgasm. Flavor exploded in my mouth as I chew it up. Merril had the same expression as she too swiped one from the plate.

Though beside our little conversion, “Thank you.” I said to Merril.

Merril smiled, narrowing her eyes a bit.

“All for my man. You’ve earn it Will.” She said. After awhile the waitress returned placing down four separate different places of sushi.

I grabbed my chopsticks and grabbed a piece from one of the plate.

“Hmmm, sushi.” I said in a monotone way.

Merril simply giggled at my remark. She followed suit to, she placed one of her hands on the side of muzzle as she chewed.

"I sure do love sushi.” She said. “After this we can go catch that movie.”

“Oh yeah, so what movie have you picked out.”

“It a new movie that relates a lot to our overall relationship. I thought it’d be cute for us to go see.” She told me.

I haven’t been watching much tv so I haven’t seen any trailers for it.

“What’s it called?” I asked.

“Lovers from across dimensions.” My eye widen a bit. I have heard of it. The name alone sounded a lot like us.

“I thought it’d be nice for us.”

I started to eat with a bit more vigor, I honestly want to finish up and go on and head to the theater to pick out our seats.

Sure enough, all four plates, plus the pot stickers were quickly consumed. The waitress came by dropping the check off. I went to grab it, but Merril swatted my hand. “Nuh uh nope. I told you I was treating you.” She told me. She pulled out a card from her purse. She placed the card and the check down. The waitress came by and scoop it up.

“I’m gonna leave a tip.” I said in protest. I pulled out fifth teen from my wallet and placed it on the table.

“That I don’t mind, remember this is my birthday gift to you. You still have more to come.”

We stood up after the waitress return, giving back Merril her card. I took her arm into mine and we walked out the restaurant. Though before we left. The women who recognized who I was at first stopped us. She held tightly in her arms was a book. I recognized it almost immediately as one of the books I had publish before.

“Mr. Furrow if it isn’t to much to ask. May I asked for your autograph.” She said holding out the book.

Completely taken back by this. I looked at the girl. I didn’t know how to quite react to this. I’m not exactly good with recognition from others. Attention was never my forte. Though Merril nudged me giving me a encouraging nodded.

I smiled and proceeded to take the book. I saw that it was my first book that I ever wrote. It was a lovers novel.

“What is your name?” I asked looking at the girl.

“My name is Mei Miyazaki sir.” She said. I could tell she was barely holding onto her composure.

I wrote out her name and well as a thank you and my signature. I handed it back to her. “I must say your very lucky.” The woman said looking at Merril.

Merril smiled and nodded to the Asian woman. “Today’s his birthday and I’m out treating him.” The girl blinked. She turned around and took off towards the back. I could see a group a girls all talking among’s themselves. Merril pulled on my sleeve and I followed her out.

I couldn’t help feel a bit awkward with that whole exchange. “That was weird.” I said.

“You don’t get out much do you?” She said.

I shook my head, “Not unless it’s for work or something I need from the store and I normally go shopping at night when there isn’t many people out.”

“You don’t realized how much you are known in this town. I’m honestly surprised how much they love someone who rarely steps out of his own apartment.” She said. We both got into her car. Snow was still falling, there was a thin line of snow accumulated on the windshield. Merril waited, turning on the wipers and the heater blowing hot air onto the windshield.

“I mean I don’t like the attention, it makes me feel weird and out of place. You have to consider that once a upon a time I was a nobody. I only got noticed because I picked up my passion for writing again.” I told her.

“Yeah but when I first moved here, I had heard a great deal about you. Though no one knew exactly where you lived in town. Some thought you had a big ole mansion that you live in.” Merril said.

I burst out laughing. “Me in a mansion. I make a decent paycheck but it’s not enough for me to have that kind of life style. But either way it’s not what I want. I spent a lot of years by myself, and before I met you. I hardly ever got out of my apartment.”

Once the windshield was clear from snow, Merril pulled the shifter into drive and drove out of the spot. We drove around the mall for a bit.

“I know sweetie but because of the material that you’ve either published on your own or the is in the paper. People do read that and there is such a thing as a fan base. I mean as you can clearing see from what that girl did. Was that your first autograph?” Merril said, giving me a side eye.

“Yeah, that’s part of the reason why it felt so weird. I mean I’m glad that my stuff in getting read but I never thought I actually have a name.” I said, I rubbed the back of my head.

“Well that’s what happen when things get notice.” Merril said. We eventually drove into the parking lot of the theater that was placed behind the mall.

Merril found a spot and parked. She reached into the back and pulled a folded cover. I gave her a questioning look. “Those theaters are normally so cold. Plus I thought maybe we could cuddle up while we watch.”

“Says the one who literally has fur covering ninety nine percent of their body.” I said chuckling a bit.

Merril growled at me a bit. “Hey I thought it’d be nice.”

I held my hands up in defense. “No harm meant, I like the idea.”

We slowly got out of the car, Merril locked it. We made our way up to the entrance. To my total surprise, several people saw me. Some came up to just shake my hand.

“I don’t get it, I’m just a writer.” I said shortly after a flock of girls bombarded me for a autograph.

“Your more known in this town than your realized honey.” Merril said, She smiled at me.

Though as we were waiting in line. I heard someone behind us start talking loudly.

“Oh. My. God, is that the William Furrow?” I heard a woman say. I looked behind me, I saw a woman who had way too much make up on and looked to much like a literal Barbie doll.

“Hey there sweetie, whats a guy like you doing out on your own.” She said, she managed to squeeze herself in between me and Merril.

Merril started to growl. “Huh oh, be it bitch, the humans are talking.” She said to Merril. Merril jaw dropped completely mortified by the remark.

I on the other hand took on a stone like look. My eyes grew very cold.

“Why don’t you come with me and I’ll show you somethings honey.” She said brushing her body up against mine. I looked around and saw several people looking at the unfolding situation. Some had their cameras out hoping to get something good.

“Why don’t you apologize to my Girlfriend who you rudely insulted.” I said with malice.

“Huh, why would I do that, she is just s filthly mongrel like any other dog.” The woman proceeded. Merril looked like she on the verge of crying.

My Merril. My sweet Merril. The woman began to laugh as she saw my face. Before I could stop myself, my hand was like lightning. I slapped the woman squire on the face. Everyone gasped at this. Some whooped and hollered for me.

The woman however looked at me, mortified. Like how could anyone do such a thing to her. “Who the hell do you think you are? You insulted my Girlfriend, rudely interrupted our fate together. How dare you?”

The woman looked around and saw that she didn’t have a leg to stand on. Though she did stood up straight. With a smirk on her face. “Why would a human ever think they could have a future with such a beast. I thought you were smarter than that considering you position. Wow.” She tilted her head up and stalked away.

One woman came up to comfort Merril. “Don’t listen to her, your beautiful.” I looked at Merril who had her hands over her mouth.

I walked up to her, I wrapped my arms around her. “Let’s go home.” I said.

She slowly shook her head, disagreeing with me. “No let’s try to salvage the night.”

I pushed away a bit and looked into her eyes. “Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“Okay.”

The kind people who were in front of us that watch the whole thing offered for us to go in front of them. I thanked them sincerely.

I told the gentlemen handing out tickets which movie we were seeing tonight.

We walked inside, as the door close. “I can’t believe he did that though.”

I shoved what I heard out my head. I didn’t want it to ruin what was left of our evening. We paid a short visit to the concession stand, getting some popcorn and two drinks for the two of us.

We walked about the theater to where our movie was being played. We walked in. I saw that the large room was mostly empty aside from a few couples here and there. Surprisingly enough I saw a few humans and beastfolk couple. This made me feel better.

Though that did bother me. What I was feeling was really bothering me? I honestly didn’t know what it was. “Where would you want to sit?” Merril said quietly. Her voice still a bit shaky from the ordeal. I walked us up the stairs to a pair of seats off in the farthest corner of the room. It was the highest point of the room. We settle ourselves into the seats. I took the cover Merril had clutched in her arms and slowly draped it over our lower half. She cuddled up to me. I leaned and kissed her on her forehead.

Soon the lights above dimmed down to nothing and darkness fell over the room. Only light came from the large movie screen. Of course we watched several different previews of other movies that were coming out.

Then the movie began.

I wrapped my left arm around her shoulders bring her even closer to me. Merril laid her head on my chest. We sat there watching the movie unfold.

As for the movie itself, it was a pretty good movie. It had a lot of what me and Merril had. Except the roles were reversed, a male fox beastfolk came into this world. He hoped to start a new life and build a family here. He worked as a construction worker in the great city of New York. He meets a Teacher at a local bar and soon the two started seeing each other more. However a ex boyfriend of the woman who had dealings with a local mafia group heard wind of the Fox. Soon went after the Fox, the woman begged the Fox to run and leave the city. However the Fox didn’t, he stay and fought. There was some flood shed, death were involved. Soon the police came involved as well. Ultimately siding with the human, the Fox had to come up with a way to clear his name and defeat the mafia. So eventually the Fox went to his only human friend who happened to work for the police department. See the Mafia group had several underhanded dealings going on but the police didn’t have any proof to any of it. So the Fox and the police banded together, soon found the evidence needed and took down the Mafia. There was one final fight scene between the Ex and the Fox. They took fought epically, being equally matched until the ex accidently slipped and fell to his death.

The woman during the climax had been kidnapped by the crazy ex soon threw herself on the Fox and the scene ended with them kissing.

To my surprise Merril was sound asleep in the nook of my arm. I smiled, giving her a bit of a shake.

“Babe, the movie’s over.” I softly said to her.

She lifted her head, looking at me. She smiled at me, she leaned in and kissed me. I then noticed she was extremely warm. Like warmer than normal. Her face was deep red, even her ears took on a reddish pink color.

I stood up, bracing her up. “Come on let’s get you back home.”

“But your birthday.” She said in protest.

“It’s just another day, love. Thank you for such a wonderful evening.” I felt her head again. Her forehead was really warm. Almost as if she had a fever.

I quickly folded the cover and had her hold it as I slowly guide her back down the stairs.

We walked out of the theater, noticing how cold it was. Snow had begun to fall again. I reached into her purse and pulled out her key. She noticed this and went to protest.

“I don’t think so. You don’t look okay to drive. It’s fine I can drive us home.” I told her. She quieted down in defeat.

I helped her into the car and walked over to the other side and got in.

I drove us home. I noticed the time, is was nearly midnight, no one was out. The town quite literally looked dead. I turned down the long road leading to my apartments.

“Honey, I feel so warm.” Merril spoke up. She was looking at me with a certain look about her. Merril brought one of her furred hands over placing it firmly on my crotch. I knew exactly then what the look was, lust. Pure adulterated lust, and it was geared towards me.

I looked around, we were far from my road. I normally didn’t do this mainly because this was her car. However I pulled out a cigarette from my pack. I popped it into my mouth a lite it up, I proceeded to roll the window down as well.

“I thought I told you not to smoke in my car.” She yipped at me.

“Well it’s keeping my mind on driving and not what your doing.” I told her.

She continued to rub my crotch. “For gods sake woman I am driving.”

Merril took her hand back, cooing at me all the same. “Aw your no fun, I’m ready to fuck you. I’m ready for you to fuck my brains out.”

I swerved a bit at her remark. “holy shit! Your usually not this verbal Merril. Are you okay?”

I looked at her with some concern. I caught a whiff of something strong, something musky.

“I don’t know Honey, but you look so hot. I just wanna have you take me.” Her breathing was heavy. ‘What the hell is happening?” I thought to myself. I placed my hand onto her forehead again. She was burning up, her entire body was heating up.

I sped up a bit more as I turned onto my road. I got home as quickly as I could. I remained quiet for the rest of the distance as Merril moaned and squirmed in her seat.

I honestly had a certain idea to pop in my head of what could be causing her to act this way. However I didn’t want to believe it.

I made it to my apartments, I quickly parked the car next to mine and got out. I briskly walked over to her side. I carefully picked her up into my arms and carried her inside my apartment. I placed her down onto the sofa.

She huffed, “Why am I so hot?” Suddenly her ears perked up as if realizing something. She immediately got up and raced to the bathroom.

Shortly after I nearly jumped out of my skin as I heard her scream. “I’m in heat.” Merril came racing out. She threw herself into my arms.

“I didn’t think it hit me so soon.” She said. Her body was like fire on my skin. I led her back to the sofa and sat her back down. She was breathing heavily.

“Do you want anything to drink?” I asked.

“Ice cold water.” She yipped. Merril dropped her head back and covered her face with her hand. “I’m sorry honey.”

“Don’t be, though you were saying some pretty vulgar stuff earlier.” I told her.

“Really?” She said. She brought her head back looking at me upside down as I got her a large cup of ice water. I brought it back and handed to her.

She took a massive sip of it and placed it down on a end table. Merril looked at me in pained eyes.

“Is there anything I can help with?” I asked.

“Honestly the only way to help quell a heat is sex, honey. But I don’t want to force you if you don’t want to.” Merril told me. I wrapped my arms around her and brought her closer.

“I mean we were planning on doing it anyway. What difference does it make if your in heat?” I told her.

“I can get pregnant.” My expression dropped at what she told me.

I sat there next to her, I held her in my arms. We stayed quiet for awhile. I slowly stood up, I needed a cigarette. I fished my pack out of my pocket and lit one up.

Merril stared at me while I puffed on my cigarette. I sat down across from her in a recliner. I looked up at my ceiling. Thinking hard of what to do. I wanted to help her, but was I really to start another family. I loved Merril so much and we’ve only been together for a short time. I remembered my time with my ex and how young I was when I had my first child. Back than I wasn’t ready for that kind of responsibility. I was still in my teenage mind, and wasn’t ready to grow up. I remember how I was towards them. How abusive I was.

“You don’t have to do this Will.” Merril said to me. I stayed quiet as I continued to smoke.

I honestly loved her so much and I wanted to have kids with her. But I don’t know if I’m really ready for that. I mean I have a decent job, I am a author as well. I did have money, the only reason why I stayed in an apartment because it honestly fits my needs.

However if I were to start a family, I would have to find a house for us both. One that would fit both our needs as well as for a child. It wasn’t like I didn’t have the money. Through my work and the few books I have published I accumulated a substantial amount of money. You could I was rich but I didn’t feel that way. I don’t flaunt my stuff.

I looked at Merril who looked at me with concern. I smiled at her. “Would you want to bare my child?” I asked.

Merril’s eyes widen a bit. “I would Will.”

“We would have to get married too.” I continued on.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Will. I love you with all my being.” She said. I stood up, walking over to her. I held out my hand to her. She took it, I pulled her up onto her feet and into my arms. I ran my hand over the back of her head.

“Merril, I think the obvious answer is to go on long with it. I want to have kids with you, yeah it may be a bit sooner than I expected. However given how we both feel about each other, it would’ve happen either now or later.” I told her.

She closed her eyes, putting her head on my chest. Her tail slowly wrapped itself around us. I held her, until the time felt right for us to move to the next step. I turned off the lights around us and slowly took us both back to my bedroom.

Before anything else, “Would you wanna take a shower first?” I asked.

It wasn’t that she stunk and I wasn’t implying that either. I thought it may help her a bit.

“Yeah I think it’d be a good idea. Plus it would give me a chance to change into something a little more comfortable.” She said. Merril planted a kiss on my lips before turning and heading towards the bathroom across the hall. She stopped briefly grabbing her travel bag. Merril looked back and gave me a smile.

I on the other hand decided to smoke another cigarette. My nerves were honestly going out of control. I decided to go on and take my night meds.

I sat down in a chair that sat in the corner of my room. My mind was going haywire. Fear washed over my like ice cold water. Was I really ready to do this? I mean how much of a diffident is it that she’ll get pregnant. What is the probability? Can I even get her pregnant?

Holy fucking shit, this took a lot out of me. I went through several different emotions as I wrote this out. I tried several times to end it sooner but as I wrote it. The story refused to finish. Like there was more. And still. Like now the next chapter will have some time pass from now and until the next chapter. I’m going to write this little story ark out, especially as Merril goes through her pregnancy. Emotions will run high, and tempers are going to flare. But in the end, things will turn out for the better for our two love birds. For they have a whole future together. Will’s going to write another book about his relationship with Merril. There will be some repercussion of his relationship. People will judge him for his love for Merril. As most human will find it unnatural. Time will be rough but over all things will get better.
