#36 of An Evertech Tale

Another of the first of many naughty submissions of this arc. another part of the stocking stuffers Terinas Tiger! Back to the facility for an awful experience, Splicer is used to it though...

Splicer was back at the facility, Laguna didn't tell him why he was going this time. For the most part it was the standard fair, being bleed nearly dry, running, pushing, pulling and other various physical tests. It seemed like they were all still fascinated on how his blood worked. He was sitting in the garden, three days had gone by, his mind was wandering as he focused on all the blue welters. Helicopter blades whirring cut into his thoughts.

Blaine? No, too high pitched... He looked up, his blood froze. He couldn't see who was inside, but he knew who it was.

Joseph. His fur bristled as he wondered what they would be doing here, as if it could be any other reason than him.

...

Splicer felt the artificial sleep taking him in his crate, even though he was forced asleep, he tossed and turned all night. He was deep in the water and running out of air, his body thrashed as he fought against the current dragging him down. Something was wrong, even deep asleep he felt his fur bristle and the sense of danger around him was more than a dream. His eyes shot open, but his body was still in sleep paralysis. Three figures were in his room, one was kneeling down looking at his. He almost thought he was imagining things until the closest one cried out.

"JESUS CHRIST! How?"

"What's up earl?"

"His eyes, they're, they're open!"

Splicer was panicking, he wanted to move, he needed to move, why couldn't he move?

"You're lying, that's not possible!"

"Fuckin' look for yourself!"

Another fur came closer, the one named earl backed off.

"Holy shit..."

Splicer pooled all his energy into his left paw, he started forcing his body to respond.

Fuck! Come on! MOVE! His finger twitched, his paw closed and opened.

"Hey! Hey! HEY! Stop moving, you shouldn't be able to move..."

Splicer's head was the next to move, he looked at the three people in his room, all researchers he knew from various tests.

"The, hell is, this?" Splicer choaked out, fighting off the desire to fall back to sleep.

"Ok, puppy, seriously stop moving, we're just here for transport."

"Transport where?"

The three looked at each other, the one that was hanging back most had a straitjacket in his paws and something else, Splicer didn't see what it was, he didn't care what it was. There was only one reason why they'd want to restrain him when there was no precedent before in all the tests he'd previously done. He was mobile again, he jumped out of the crate and put as much distance between himself and the researchers.

"Splicer, come on, please don't resist, we don't want to force you to come. We just wanted to do it while you were asleep for ease..."

They're lying... Splicer saw the researcher's eyeing each other nervously unsure of how to progress the situation. They had imagined the wolf would be asleep for another hour minimum and non of them had brought a manual control remote for the wolf's nanites, they weren't high enough rank to make any sort of wireless connection. One took a cautious step forward, Splicer growled.

"I-I don't want to go, it's him isn't it?"

Another step forward, even if Splicer fought all three of them, which he figured would be easy enough, there was no way to fight his way out the rest of the building, their meeting would be inevitable. His growl diminished to whimpers as the three researchers surrounded him.

"Good puppy..." One of them cooed as they rubbed his ears, Splicer wasn't in the mood as he felt his arms slid into the straight jacket, feeling the straps pulled tight around his body, making his arms useless. Tears were in his eyes as he silently pleaded with them shaking his head no when the metal wire muzzle was brought into his field of view. He tried to move his face, but one researcher held it steady. It was strapped around the back of his head and he was escorted into the elevator.

...

White room, Splicer had his eyes squeezed shut primitively, he had been sitting like this for two hours. The elevator opened, it closed.

"So you were expecting me I take it?" Joseph's voice was burnt into Splicer's memory, it called him product, always a product, forever a product.

"Since I heard you coming in yesterday, you really didn't try to hide yourself." Splicer was trying to speak well, but his jaw kept running up against the muzzle, making his words come out muffled slightly.

"At least you look the part. Hello, Splicer. Or oh wait, it's puppy now isn't it?"

"The fuck do you want, Joe?" Splicer turned around in his chair, looking at the one-way mirror, he made eye contact with the otter's reflection. He could deal with a reflection, probably. But he wanted to press on the otter, prove he was more than just a product. The otter's reflection looked pissed.

Good... Splicer was fighting against the continual chant of product in his mind by being as abrasive as possible.

"You will address me as nothing more than your owner, my name is not for product to use."

"You forget I'm not product, but you're avoiding my question. Why, are, you, here?"

"As much as I'm not a fan of you, you have a fascinating body, I hate to see it wasted in such a pathetic piece of meat like yourself. No mater how many times, how many ways I try to crack the enigma of your blood, I simply can't. I've burnt millions on it, and I'll go up to billions! What do I care of money anyways?"

"Wow, you called me meat and not a thing, I think we'll be friends yet~"

"Where did you learn to run your mouth so well?"

"Call it, on the job training I suppose."

"I'm here to give you new nanites."

"Wait, what? Why would you do something like that?" Splicer was beyond confused.

"As it stands, the nanintes in your body can't really handle electricity well, it takes a large amount of self regenerative power to keep them functioning as you body repeatedly fries them."

"So you want to help me?" Splicer's eyes narrowed at the reflection, it was too suspicious. "What's the catch?"

"I just want to see what your blood will do if your body isn't constantly being taxed by the nanites repairing themselves, I imagine you'll feel a lot better." Joseph almost sounded happy, too suspicious. He laid a black pill on the table, with little flickers of gold interspersed within the darkness.

"What, is, the, catch, Joseph?" Another angry glare from the otter, Splicer was beyond caring.

"These nanites have dispersed conduits for electricity, they can discharge into them intermittently to decrease the strain your electricity puts on them. The catch is, they have to manually destroy the previous line of nanites in your body and replace them after. You'll probably die for a moment, and your mind will be entirely wiped clean, again."

"No deal."

"No, deal?"

"I don't need any new nanites, and I don't need to go through that de-processing again. No. Deal."

"Scared you won't recover? I know you've done it once before after all."

"Is that a challenge? Or are you just trying to reassure yourself you won't accidentally ruin your relationship to your precious badger?"

Splicer barely heard the chair fly across the room as the otter jumped at him across the table, gripping him by the metal muzzle, looking straight into his eyes.

"Don't, you, dare..." Joseph was growling out, he wasn't going to let some product win over him, especially not with such dirty leverage.

"Dare what? I'm stating the obvious, you know Laguna set this kind of thing explicitly off limits..."

"You'll recover, I'm sure of it, open wide~"

Shit, SHIT! The grip on his muzzle was iron tight, the otter was looking right in his eyes, his will was breaking. Splicer pursed his lips inward and bit down, closing his eyes. Joseph saw his moment, he took the opportunity while the wolf wasn't looking to quickly jam the pill just inside his lips.

"This is the reason Laguna never dated you..."

The effects were almost instant, Splicer's eyes opened as he thrashed in his chair, Joseph stepped back, content to watch the process unfold. Truth be told was that the nanite replacement was a rather simple task, and could be done rather painlessly and without memory loss, but Joseph wanted to knock the wolf down a peg. The product was too cocky for its own good. As much as the thought grated on him, he did admire the wolf's balls, only a select few would dare be so confrontational with the otter, knowing who he is and what he's capable of, too worried about the consequence. But this product, this wolf, was a fascinating example of physiology and consequence be dammed attitude. It was no wonder he managed to slip under the company radar for so long, and now here he was, thrashing once again under the control of the otter. It was beautiful.

Splicer's mind was a flurry of nothing but expletives and warning signs. The pill dissolved as soon as it touched his saliva, and he fell out of his chair onto the floor coughing and trying to spit them out. But it was far too late, he could already feel the nanites making quick work of destroying and using the scrap parts to self replicate. He flipped onto his back, staring up at the harsh florescent lights.

Not again, please not again, I can't go through it again... Splicer's mind was an open door to the otter and he was relishing in the wolf's final thoughts. They passed through from anger to bargaining with someone, anyone to help him.

Please, Jack if any time I was going to get a bail out... He said the name, but he couldn't remember the face. A pink badger flashed through his mind, but he couldn't remember the name. The only thing he knew was the two were unrelated, but even that was fading. He coughed again, trying to force the thoughts to resurface from the spinning drain that was his mind. It felt like someone had pulled the plug on it and everything was slipping through his paws, he couldn't hold onto any single thought for long anymore. Just a slight recollection then it was gone. Drool formed on his lips as the muzzle was slipped off, it wouldn't be needed past this point.

Wait, wait, hold on, please don't, please? Splicer raised his head and looked at the otter with pleading eyes, he had no idea who it was, but he knew they were the cause of all this stress. His body was slowing down to match his mind as the nanites worked their way through, slowly taking over and waiting for re activation by the otter, he would wait till the last second.

It's all fading, I'm, all fading... What even is an I? Splicer was almost gone, his last moments were spent contemplating what a self was, he never came to an answer in the last moment, when his eyes were fully dull and resting his muzzle in a puddle of drool on the floor. Joseph set the activation, Splicer's body came back to, his mind didn't. Joseph was almost disappointed, he was expecting more fight from the wolf this time around, but all the same, he had a new product in front of him. He set to work giving him the usual post processing product reinforcement. The wolf readily accepted. Joseph wondered if there was something in the wolf that might have even liked having his mind played with. He looked down at the fierce wolf, broken and under his control, he couldn't help himself.

Joseph undid his pants and used the wolf's still with muzzle with wild abandon, product didn't mind a little rough handling, and Joseph wanted to do a proper breaking in. He came soon after, caressing the wolf's cheek, tilting his muzzle up. He opened his mouth and inspected the thick coating of seed still on the wolf's tongue. The first time was always the best, most exciting time, when they were freshly processed, every time after was strictly a diminishing return. He pondered if that was mainly why he burned through products so quickly, getting a new one and using it a few times before sending it off for auction, racing to find his next victim of choice. He watched the slack jawed wolf sitting there, still in his straight jacket and awaiting orders, cum slowly dripping from his maw.

"Swallow." Joseph ordered, Splicer obeyed.

He thought about Laguna, who considered the wolf more than a product, but as a pet. He wondered if that's why he held onto them so long, a vision of a different outcome where he fucked the wolf's muzzle first, while he was still snarling and snapping off insults at him.

How good would that have been? Joseph didn't know, but he honestly had a spark of curiosity burning inside him. Perhaps it was something to look forward to after the wolf recovered, for now, he had a phone call to make.

...

"Joe you did what?" Laguna knew Joseph was making a visit to the facility for observation, but apparently, he just couldn't help himself.

"I'm sorry, no idea what happened to him, you've had nanite replacement before, usually if you don't resist there's no complications, but..."

"Joe, you know my puppy by now, I know you do despite how much you claim to hate him. ALL HE DOES IS RESIST, LITERALLY EVERYTHING!" Laguna sighed, he couldn't believe the otter would play around with his pet without getting permission first.

"I'll send him back to you in working order, I promise."

"You better Joe, I'm sending someone over to observe the wolf's progress... Make boarding arrangements, yes, directly in his room."

Laguna hung up the phone, he was furious at Joe, but he also knew when it came to his puppy, they had a burning hatred mixed with genuine intrigue and Joe would never admit it, respect. Joseph knew Splicer had stolen his ring back, but not once did he ever request Laguna have the ring returned to him. Besides if the new nanites really were as good as Joe said, Laguna was curious to see how his puppy would react too. He knocked on the guest room Jack was staying in while he was in town teaching his course. He had been staying at hotels and such before, but since Splicer's birthday, Laguna had been letting him stay as a sort of apology. Opening the door he saw Jack helping Blaine get dressed. He had never seen someone not keeping a processed pet collared, it was even technically against company policy. Jack didn't really care about policy, he only cared about Blaine.

"Sorry for the interruption, I hope you don't mind." Laguna was still watching the display.

"Not at all, I'll be another minute here though, what's going on?" Jack was still eternally grateful for the offer to let him stay at the manor, the facilities were better than any of the hotels he had tried and the food was divine. He stared believing Splicer was lying about the short end of the stick.

"Complications came up, I'll give you the short, puppy has been reprocessed."

"SPLICER'S BEEN WHAT?" Blaine was Jack's main priority, but Splicer was still someone he cared for, he couldn't deal with both of them not knowing who he was.

"Yes, stay calm though, he's recovered once, I'm sure he'll recover again. All we need to do is give him time. I want someone to oversee that Joseph isn't going to permanently break him. I don't care to see my pup processed, Dakota would rather not go through it again and I don't blame him, and you've been staying at my house for the last week and a half for free..."

"Hey! I offered to compensate you..."

Jack stopped mid sentence realizing that the badger was actually offering him a gift. Sure seeing Splicer with the same empty eyes as Blaine's would be painful, but it was also a chance to maybe get up close and see the de-processing in real time. Plus if Laguna was talking about Joseph being there... maybe he could kill two birds with one stone.

...

Jack walked off the elevator, in a dark room. The chipmunk at the front door almost looked a little sad but seeing the beagle walking in with his fox made them perk up a bit.

"Ah you must be Jack and Blaine! I'm sure puppy would be happy to see you..." He gave the two directions to access the wolf's room.

So the two were in the room now, there was a large crate in the corner, sitting at the foot of a bed. Jack walked over to the coffee table, running a paw over the rough surface, he realized the surface wasn't some texture, they were claw marks. He thought about counting them, but figured it was better not to know how long his friend was held captive here while he sat by, not even realizing. He reached his paw towards the counter and mimicked the crushing moment the wolf must have made. He sighed and dropped his bags down in front of the mirror before sitting on the bed. Splicer stirred in his sleep, waking up at the noise of something hitting the floor beside him. He was so motionless that he blended into the crate cushion below him, unseen by Jack until he began to wake up.

"Holy... Splicer! You nearly scared me outta my fur man, what are you doing sleeping? It's like 3 pm." Jack said, clutching his not beating heart in his chest out of habit. Splicer didn't respond. "Oh, sorry... puppy?"

Splicer didn't respond to either names, he just turned to look at whoever was talking. Since he was processed Laguna demanded Joseph wait on doing anything until someone could be there to help the wolf through de-processing. Joseph grumbled about treating the product better than it deserved, but conceded. Splicer had been relegated to sleeping the day away with the occasional meal interspersed, he didn't mind, he was just product. Jack met the wolf's eyes for a second before immediately turning away, he had seen those eyes before on Blaine, every day. He rather be burned at the stake before seeing his other friend's eyes the same way.

"Ok, you can do this..." Jack took a deep breath, he had to do this for the wolf. One day the wolf might so the same for Blaine. "Hey, what's your name?"

"I don't have a name, I am just a product." Jack knew the wolf would say that because Blaine said the same thing, he just wanted to diagnose how far gone the wolf was. It was bad. He locked eyes with the wolf.

"From this day on, your name is Splicer, understood?"

"Yes sir understood, my name is now Splicer, thank you for naming me."

"I didn't. That's just your name, always has been, always will be. At least it should have been that way..."

The wolf didn't understand, he had always been just a product, he had no idea what the beagle was talking about. His head tilted.

"Go look in the mirror, you're wearing a collar with that name on it."

Splicer stood up and looked into the mirror, he was wearing a solid black collar with a silver tag, laser etched black with the same rose emblem that was on his thigh. He turned back to the beagle who felt dread when he saw the wolf wasn't even in his usual collar. It didn't make sense, they were supposed to be trying to fix the wolf and yet it seemed like they were doing everything to treat him like just another product. He would have to give the otter a piece of his mind when he finally met him.

...

Jack was fiddling his thumbs, Blaine and Splicer were standing perfectly spaced apart behind him, Joseph walked in. He sat across from the beagle.

"You're who Laguna sent? Not exactly his best choice." Joseph scoffed, he had no idea what Laguna was thinking.

"Yes, sir! I was assigned to be Splicer's guard through the de-processing procedure." Jack felt most of his bravado leave him as soon as he looked at the otter, he was so domineering despite being wrapped up in such a small form.

"I see you brought along my old pilot, did you enjoy my sloppy seconds?"

He forgot his timidness; Jack was out for blood. His paw reached across the table promising to kill the otter here and now in his mind.

"I can promise you, killing me would be, inadvisable." Joseph was watching the confused beagle struggling to move his paw closer to the otter's throat, he sat back down with a huff. "Because Vay has you labeled as a valuable company asset, I'll allow your outburst to slide, this time."

"I apologize, sir." Jack blanked his mind, he forgot Vay had explained that Joseph could read thoughts real time through his nanite connection.

"You're even better than your wolf friend at that, all he could do was keep crying out 'I don't know' over and over again, but you're just, blank."

"I have to wonder, why are you treating like Splicer is a normal product when you're supposed to be trying to de-process him? Surely taking his name and old collar is counter intuitive."

"Of course it's counter intuitive to you, but you don't understand. I could put the thing's mind back together with a shrug, but I don't want to. I want to replicate the initial time as close as possible for research purposes. I need to see how they broke out the first time."

"Understood" Jack was angry, but he also understood where the otter was coming from. Such valuable data would be beyond useful, it almost justified the indifference of the wolf's treatment, almost. "I notice that you've been giving me full portions but only half portions to the others. Why is that?"

"First of all, I was under the impression only one person would be accompanying the wolf, second of all, this is part of it, I want you to only give him a fifth of the food the other product gets..."

"Sir, I refuse, that's just unfair. Despite you calling them product, they're still furs. They deserve better."

"You understand the reasoning here right, if you can't understand I'll have to ask Laguna to send someone competent."

"Yes, I see, understood sir. I take it we are beginning the de-processing then?"

"Yes, you're dismissed, take the pilot and product with you."

Jack stood up and bowed, taking his leave. On the elevator he allowed the rage he was holding back come out at once as he roared out every bad word he knew.

I was supposed to give him a piece of my mind, not capitulate to the bastard! He nearly broke the panel on the elevator with how forcefully he jabbed his finger into it. The three came out into their room, Jack wasn't sure if he could force Splicer to eat what was essentially their table scraps that night. Splicer obviously wouldn't mind but Jack couldn't do that to his friend could he? The meal came, Jack forced himself to portion out the food as directed. Splicer was left with a single bit of meat along with a single head of broccoli on top of a few forkfuls of rice. He ate his meal graciously, Jack watched as he ate his own much larger meal in silence.

Sorry Splicer... It's for your own good though... Jack tried reassuring himself, it didn't work.
