Weird Kind of Love - Chapter 1 Gradeschool Love
**Lexy belongs to Lexy-Marie. Bashi belongs to FurryCheetah.**
The lynx squeaked as she watched her mom drive the car away from the school, leaving her at her new school. She sighed as her new teacher took her paw and dragged her into the building, sighing she grabbed her stuff and followed. She walked down the empty hallways, squeaking as she was pushed into a classroom full of kids around her age. She walked over and placed her stuff by the empty desk with her name on it and sat down quietly, not making eye contact with anyone.
The cheetah cub was getting antsy. The teacher told the class the day before that a new student was going to be coming to their class. When the door opened and the new student stepped into the room, Bashi was disappointed. He watched as a rather cute lynx girl with Periwinkle fur, with white on her paws, ears, shoulder fluff, and the base of her tail. She had a little blue bow in her hair to keep her bangs out of her ruby red eyes. She was wearing a small little sky blue skirt with a yellow rubber ducky on it with a white tank top and blue jean jacket. As she sat down in her seat next to his, he looked over and said "Hello, I'm pretty, and your very Bashi".
The lynx looked up at the cheetah, blushing and giving off a little giggle at his comment. "Your funny." she purred, out reaching a paw towards him. "I'm Lexy. I just moved to town and don't know anyone here." she looked around the room and then back at the cheetah beside her. He was kind of cute, his dressy typed pants and red and white horizontal stripped polo shirt gave off the look of importance. She could see he was nice and by the looks of the room, she could tell she was going to like it here.
Bashi blushed at her touch, but didn't protest, and happily took her paw in his. The teacher, took attendance, then she said in her sweet high-pitched voice, "Ok, everybody, this is our new student, Lexy." she points to Lexy, and is interrupted by Ethan, the wolf pup.
"Lexy, she looks like a butt face." he teased.
Mrs. teak looked sharply at Ethan, then rang a little bell. "You all know what that mean, right class?"
Lexy jumped as she heard the bell, scared she quickly jumped up and out of her seat. She crawled over and sat with Bashi at his desk, leaning against him as her wide eyes looked around the room. "W--what was that?!" she whimpered, tightening her grip on the males paw.
Bashi panicked briefly as Lexy jumped before he realized there wasn't any danger, and it was the bell that scared her. Like any child does when someone squeezes there arm, Bashi tries to pull Lexy's paw off. "What are you afraid of? That's only the coloring bell. It means we can go to the table over there and pick out a picture to color in. Here, I'll show you." Bashi finally freed his arm, but then took the lynx cub by the paw, and lead her to the back table where there were many pictures to choose from. "What one do you want to do?"
The lynx looked up pawing at the coloring pages as she picked up one with two cats playing on a slide. "This one." she giggled, sitting down and picking up a crayon to color the page as her tail flicked happily behind her. She then stopped and looked up at him. "What page are you going to do?"
Bashi felt a tear form in his eye as he looked frantically for another one with the two cats playing but couldn't find one. He whimpered as he looked back at his new friend. "I always color that one, but there are no more." I can't find anymore with two kitty-cats on it."
Lexy looked up and placed the picture to him. "You color it then." She smiled up at him. "I'll pick a different one then." she giggled as she reached over and picked a new one to color, humming to herself happily.
Bashi looked at her and then back at the picture, "Come on, I got an idea." The cheetah cub smiled as his tear practically disappeared back to where it came from as he led Lexy to the teachers desk. "Mrs. Teak, Lexy and me want to color this but there's no more. Can you cut it in half so we can share it?" Bashi asked then handed the paper to the teacher.
Mrs. Teak looked at the picture, then cut it carefully with her special grown-up scissors, diagonally, then handed each of the cubs a half, with a cat to color. "I will have to go to the store, and pick up some more coloring sheets with cats, now that they've become such a favorite"
The lynx blushed as he took her hand and led her away from the coloring station. She let out a quiet giggle as she was given her half of the picture, looking over and smiling at Bashi. "Your so smart." She thanked the teacher and went back to her seat to color the kitty picture.
Bashi went back to his desk, and using all his strength managed to push his desk right up, touching Lexy's. He looked at her and smiled as he dug around in his pencil case full of crayons, and pulled out a pale blue, kind of gray crayon. He held it up to his new friends fur. "I think this color matches your fur" Bashi giggled as he began to color his picture to look like the lynx.
Lexy giggled, nodding to his comment as she reached over and pulled out a yellowish-gold color and smiled as it matched his fur too. She hummed to herself a song her mother had taught her, coloring her cat to match him as well.
Bashi continued to color, even matching the yellow dots on Lexy's tail. Bashi was pleased with how it came out and quickly wrote "2 Lexy your my newest friend, <3 Bashi". Then he leaned over and gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "Here, I colored this for you." Bashi blushed, his skin red under his fur.
Lexy finished her picture, signing her picture with the same thing most girls their age did "2 Bashi, friends forever. <3 Lexy xoxo." She blushed as she felt the kiss to her cheek. She leaned over and kissed his blood red cheek in return and handed him the picture she did of him as her kitty. "Here. This is for you, Bashi." Bashi looked at the picture, and then smiled from ear to ear, so wide his baby teeth were showing. He quickly reached out to Lexy, and wrapped his arms around her, in a warm embrace. Then quickly pulled away as Ethan approached.
Lexy blushed at the quick hug, and then he pulled away. She looked up at Ethan, sighing and turning back to her desk. She was slowly getting fed up with him bothering her, especially now since he made her new friend pull away from her. She wanted to punch him in the jaw so hard all his baby teeth fell out, but it wasn't the lady like thing to do so she didn't. She sighed. "What do you want, Ethan? I wasn't bugging you. I was coloring with Bashi."
Ethan nodded, "I know, and it looks good if you was trying to draw a puke puddle." Ethan said as he snatched both pictures up and tore them up. "Hahahaha, you look so sad? Is little baby Lexy going to cry?" he mocked.
The lynx whimpered quietly, tears forming in her eyes slowly as she looked between Ethan and Bashi. Bashi was going to ignore Ethan, but once he ripped up the gift for Lexy, and she began to cry Bashi couldn't let it slide. Bashi picked up his white crayon, thinking, why would I need white, the paper is white and walked around the desk to confront Ethan. "Say sorry Ethan!" Bashi growled.
"No way, she's just a little crybaby." Ethan snickered.
When Ethan refuse, Bashi ran into him, knocking them both to the floor. Bashi landed on top, and jammed the crayon up Ethan's nose.
Mrs. Teak pulled them apart before any real harm was done, then put them both in different corners for time out. "You two boys need to stay here for the rest of coloring time. when I ring the snack time bell in five minutes, you can go back to your seats, and get your snacks." Mrs. Teak Scolded.
Lexy whimpered as she watched the teacher take her friend away. She followed Mrs. Teak to her desk and asked politely for the tape, smiling as she was handed the clear tape-want to be. She went back to her desk and fixed the picture better, always being good at puzzles had helped. The lynx returned the tape before running over with the colored picture and jumping on Bashi, giggling. She kissed his cheek and handed him the picture. "Here. I fixed it."
Bashi sat with his nose in the corner as Lexy came over and kissed him. He looked at the picture, then smiled. "It looks even better now." Bashi was cut off by a different bell than before.
"Snack time everyone, put away your artwork so you don't get any messes on it." Mrs. Teak called.
Bashi took Lexy's paw then asked, "Did you bring in something to eat for a snack?"
Lexy blushed at his paw, nodding as she followed him. "My mommy packed me some milk and cookies. Want to share?" She squeaked, smiling up at him as they walked back to their desk's.
Bashi pulled her chair out, then pushed her in as a gentlemen would have, then took his seat. He reached into his desk, and pulled out a juice box, and a big brownie. "I got fruit punch an a brownie, what do you have" Bashi asked as he unwrapped his snack.
Lexy leaned down into her small back pack and pulled out a small bottle of white milk and a bag of cookies. "I have milk and some chocolate chip cookies my mommy made yesterday." she smiled and pulled one out, breaking it in half and handing him one half of it. "Here. You can have some."
Bashi poked his straw into his juice, then accepted the half cookie. "Here, you can have part of mine too," Bashi offered as he split his brownie in half and handed it to her. Bashi took a sip of his juice, then took a bite out of the cookie. "It's yummy" he purred.
Lexy smiled and bit into the brownie, purring happily as she sipped on her milk. "Yep" she giggled, eating her snack quietly as she leaned against him.
Bashi finished his snack, and looked at Lexy, who was almost finished with hers, then he whispered, "Guess what?" into her ears.
Lexy finished her snack and looked up at him, flicking her ears happily at the whisper. "What?" she whispers in return, picking up their trash to throw away when the teacher walked around with the trash can.
Bashi was blushing and waited till the teacher was gone farther away before he leaned over and nibbled her ear innocently then whispered, "I love you"
Lexy blushed a deep red as she felt him nibble on her ear, giving off a slight giggle as she pawed at his side. "I love you too." she whispered back, sliding her tongue out of her maw and licks his cheek gently. Bashi let go of her ear, and licked her cheek as Mrs. Teak rang another bell.
"That's story time" Bashi explained as he got up, and lead Lexy to the reading circle. Lexy giggled and followed him, waiting until he sat down before sitting down and crawling into his lap. She purred as she sat down in his lap and leaned back against her friend gently and waited for the teacher to start. Bashi wrapped his arms around Lexy, and held her to him. Mrs. Teak pulled out a pop-up book from the rack next to her rocking chair. "This is a good one" Bashi whispered as he put his head on Lexy's shoulder.
"Pop Goes The Hamster, and Other Great Microwave Games" Mrs. Teak began.
Lexy gave a quiet giggle, rubbing her cheek against his affectionately. "I can tell." she smiled as she wrapped her tail around the cheetah behind her and let out a quiet purr as she listened to the teacher read. Bashi normally loved the story, but this time wasn't able to pay attention. All he could focus on was the sound of the lynx on this lap purring away. Lexy smiled, leaning up and licking at the cheetah's ears gently for the rest of story time. She heard the story several times, it being one of her favorites. But she never got to sit on a cute cheetah's lap before, so it was more entertaining.
"Ok children, It's playtime. You may all go to the toy corner and play, just remember to share" Mrs. Teak announced.
Bashi went to get up, but realized he couldn't because Lexy was on him. "Lexy, can you get off now, I want to get the blocks before someone else does." Lexy nodded and jumped up, grabbing his paw and helped him up. She tugged his arm until he finally followed her to the play corner. Bashi and his playmate got to the corner with the toys before too much was claimed.
"You wait here and keep this space, I'm going to go get the blocks" Bashi said before turning to the big container of building blocks. She nodded and sat down, humming quietly to herself happily. waiting patiently for him to return, her tail wagging happily. Bashi got to the box of building blocks right before Ethan did. Ethan always tried to get them first, but Bashi was usually there first. Bashi picked up the box, then returned to the spot where he left Lexy. He set the box down between them as Ethan came over.
"Bashi, why do you want to play with this crybaby girl? Your a tough guy, why don't you ditch her, and play blocks with me?"
Bashi glares up at him "Go away Ethan, I like playing with her."
"Girls are yucky, you'll get cooties"
"I don't care, leave us alone"
"Fine, but you'll be sorry you didn't be nice to me."
Lexy looked up, whimpering as her ears pinned back against her head. She didn't like being around Ethan, he was mean. She scooted closer to Bashi and whimpered quietly. Bashi put his arm around the scared lynx, and shot a look toward the wolf that said, "if you don't want a block up your ass, you'd better leave". Ethan turned tail and sulked off to settle for a dump truck that was missing a wheel.
"Lexy you want to build a castle, and you can be the princess?" Bashi asked.
Lexy smiled, looking over at him. "Sure." she giggled, "But only if you can be the prince." she blushed at her comment, reaching over and grabbing one of the blocks.
Bashi smiled his toothy smile, then said "Sure, and Ethan can be in the dungeon". Bashi pulled a few blocks out and set them between them. She giggled, leaning over and kissing his cheek.
"I like that idea." she joked, helping him with the construction of their castle.
Bashi placed another block on there project. He inched his paw closer to hers, and grabbed it. "I don't care if I get cooties, I'm going to be your friend forever times infinity"
Lexy smiled, , tightening her grip on his paw. "Friends forever. Until the end." she smiled, helping him with their castle. She didn't care what anyone said. She loved her new friend, nothing was going to change that.
"Oh, you don't know what today's lunch is do you?" Bashi asked eagerly as he finished one of the towers by placing a cone shape on top.
She shook her head. "No. I brought my lunch since mommy didn't know what the school was serving." she leaned against him, laying her head on his shoulder gently as she watched him build.
Bashi stopped building for a second as he took his paw out of hers, and put it over her shoulder. "Every Thursday they let you pick between a tuna fish sandwich, a chicken patty on a bun, or a hotdog." Bashi placed another block on the castle, now it was almost done. "Here, you can put the last piece on, princess"
The female lynx smiled slightly as she felt his arm snake behind her neck, scooting closer as she leaned against him. She nodded to him as he named off the lunch options. "Oh? I like hot dogs." she giggled, purring quietly as she took the last block from him. Blushing at her new nickname she reached over and placed the block in place, smiling back to him happily. "Our castle is done, my prince."
Bashi looked at the newly completed castle, then rubbed the princess between the ears. "I think its the best castle ever" Bashi declared. before turning to Lexy "I like hotdogs too."
Before any response could be given Ethan walked over, and stood in front of the block castle. Lexy whimpered, pinning her ears back against her head as she looked up at him. "H-hi Ethan. Can we help you?" she asked quietly, leaning against her prince gently as she was scared of Ethan now.
Ethan looked at Lexy, "Yeah. give me your lunch."
Lexy shook her head. "No. Now go away." she wrapped her arms around Bashi's arm and clung to him tightly. She did not like Ethan and did not understand why he hated her so bad. Bashi didn't like it when Ethan scared Lexy like that, but couldn't do much with Lexy clinging to his arm. Ethan didn't like it when he didn't get what he asked for, and kicked the blocks over.
"pops" he said as he turned and walked away.
Lexy whimpered, tears sliding down her face. She couldn't help it. She burst into tears and jumped up from her spot on the floor and did what every four year old did when she was upset, she ran out of the room to go find her mommy. She looked all around the hall way for her mother, only to walk back into her class room and sit at her desk. She curled up into a ball in her seat, covering her eyes with her tail.
Bashi saw her leave the room, but didn't follow. He had to pick up the blocks, or he'd get another time-out. When Lexy came back into the classroom, she curled up at her desk. He ran over to her and tapped her on the shoulder. "Please don't be sad"
Lexy whimpered, looking up at her friend. "But he knocked down our castle." she sniffled, wanting to go home but couldn't since the Mrs. Teak said they couldn't go home until she said so.
Bashi wrapped his little arms around Lexy. "I know, but there just blocks. we can rebuild then castle tomorrow. your still the princess though." Bashi started to rub her back.
Lexy smiled, leaning up and kissing his cheek gently. "And your still the prince." she giggled quietly, sitting up as she wiped the tear's away.
Mrs. Teak rang the bell. "Lunchtime everyone, get in a single file line".
Bashi wanted to get in line, but wouldn't leave Lexy. he took her paw and giggled, "Come on, lets get in line." Lexy nodded and jumped down, following him to the line. She stood behind him, not really sure what to do. Instead she just held his paw idly and hummed the alphabet song to herself quietly.
Mrs. Teak lead the students to the cafeteria, and watched them as the stood in line. "If you brought your lunch, just wait in line while the other cubs get theirs"
Bashi grabbed a tray, and set his milk on it. he slide down the line, and added an apple, and a hotdog. Lexy walked behind him, huffing as she smelled the tuna fish sandwich's. She hated tuna fish, it disgusted her with a passion. She waited quietly, knowing exactly what her mommy packed her. Bashi finished filling his lunch tray by grabbing a little dish of corn before he lead his friend to an empty table. "Is this spot good?"
Lexy nodded, "Sure, Bashi." she smiled, taking her lunch bag from the teacher. She followed him over and slid into a chair beside him and pulled out a small container and a thermos, along with a banana. She grabbed the thermos and poured the juice out of it and into the cup/lid it came with.
Bashi squeezed a little mustard out of a packet and onto his hotdog before taking a bite. He smiled at Lexy and ask "Do you want to be my girlfriend"
Lexy took a bite of her chicken sticks her mom had packed her in the container before looking over at him, nodding as she smiled sweetly. "Sure, Bashi. I'd love to be your girlfriend."
Bashi giggled as he felt a warm glow in his stomach. This was his first girlfriend. He quickly finished his hotdog, and apple, then went up to the little table with the napkins, and spork's on it, and retuned with a paw full of napkins, and a spork for his corn. He ate one bite, then started to flick them one by one at Ethan who was sitting at a table across from theirs. "That will show that Meany. He hates corn". Bashi said, quite pleased with himself.
As he went to fling the last piece, Mrs. Teak stopped him. "Bashi Hart, What have I told you about making a mess. You need to stay down here and clean this up when everyone else leaves!"
Lexy sighed, leaning over and kissing Bashi's cheek. "I'll save you a mat for nap time. Bai." she grabs her stuff and follows the Mrs. Teak out of the room, putting her stuff down by her desk. She waited until the nap cart came around, grabbing two of the mat's off the cart and then she wandered over to the empty circle where they did their morning reading. She sat down on her matt and laid down quietly. The lynx purred quietly, feeling someone's presence but not bothering to look. "Mmm...Bashi lay down and cuddle with me, sweetie." she purred quietly.
Bashi worked at cleaning every little piece of corn off the floor, under the watchful eye of the other lunchroom aid. "Stupid corn, it's everywhere. Why do they give it to us if they don't want us to fling it." Bashi muttered under his breath.
Ethan got down on the floor behind Lexy, and curled up next to her. He scooted over, and put his arm around her, then licked her cheek.
Lexy giggled, holding who she thought was Bashi's paw happily. She rolled over to nuzzle him, opening her eyes and looks up at Ethan. She growled lowly and stands up, throwing his paw and kicks him. "What the hell, Ethan. Get away from me!"
Ethan grabbed his side where Lexy kicked him. "What was that for?" he growled.
She looked down at him. "You licked my cheek. You know I'm Bashi's girlfriend." she sat down. "Go away. That is Bashi's pad, not your's." she pushed him towards the edge of the pad, clearly wanting him away.
Ethan was getting mad. He stomped his foot down, and stuck his lip out. "Its not far, how come Bashi gets to have you, but not me? I'm stronger than he is. you should like me"
Lexy blinked up at him, tilting her head in confinement. "Why? Your mean, rude, and just an over all butt face. You may be stronger, but you will never, EVER have me." she huffed and turned away from him.
Ethan began to cry, as he shoved Lexy down. "I will have you one day, when your dumb boyfriend isn't around to save you"
Lexy cried as she was pushed into the bookshelf, cutting her forehead on a corner. She whimpered as Mrs. Teak picked her up and took her to the nurse. She would return a few minutes later back to class with a band-aid on her head and her hair cut slightly where the blood had clotted in her hair. She walked over to her desk, sitting down and laying her heads in her paws as tears slid down her maw. She wanted Bashi, he always made her feel better.
Bashi got done cleaning his corn mess, and got back to the classroom to see the lights were dim. Everyone was curled up on the floor. He went from fur to fur, looking for Lexy. When he made it to the other side of the room, he noticed that one cub wasn't laying on the floor. It was Lexy. maybe she was waiting for him before she took her nap. Bashi quietly crept over to her, and noticed she was crying, with a large bandage on her head, and a patch of her hair missing. He began to rub her back with his paw as he whispered, "Did you fall down?"
Lexy whimpered, scooting closer to him as she shook her head. "N....no." she sniffled, wiping her tears away. "I was laying down, waiting for you so I could cuddle you and Ethan came up behind me. I thought he was you and we cuddled for a second. He licked my cheek and I turned to find it was him. I kicked him and he got mad because I didn't like him...So he pushed me into the book case and I cut my head." she whimpered, resting her head on his shoulder gently.
Bashi whimpered as he thought it could have been avoided it he didn't fling the corn. Bashi rubbed under her chin a little before he touched the bandage on her head. "Does it hurt? Oh, and part of your hair is gone"
Lexy sighed, nodding slightly. "Yes, a little. The blood got caught in my hair really bad. There wasn't really much the grown ups could do to save it." she whimpered.
"I got an idea." Bashi said as he left Lexy's side for just a moment. He crawled over to the teachers desk, and found what he was looking for. His first move was to cut a big patch of his own hair off of the top of his head. He slid the teachers scissors back on her desk, then grabbed his hair trimmings and got back to Lexy. Then he pulled a bottle of glue out of his desk, and poured a little bit of it on Lexy's bandage, then pressed his hair on it. "There, now you can have some of my hair."
Lexy smiled, blushing at how sweet he was. She jumped up and pounced on him, wrapping her paws around him and pulled him into a tight hug. She pressed her nose to his, rubbing them together in a affectionate manner for a second or two before pulling away. "Thank you, Bashi. That's so sweet." she smiled, feeling as great as ever.
"Wait Lexy, that wasn't my whole idea." Bashi whispered. "I'm going to pour the glue all over him. I'll make him look ugly with bald patches all over."
Lexy looked over at him. "Why? No point. He was mad because you got something that he will never get." she nuzzled his neck gently as she let out a quiet purr happily.
"But he hurt you, don't you want to get him back?" Bashi asked, almost begging to do it.
She shook her head. "He wanted me, and you got me. Not him." She kissed his cheek gently. "Why hurt him now? When me being with you and happy is going to hurt him even more then we ever could."
Bashi smiled and put the glue away. He took Lexy by the paw, and then kissed her cheek. "You want to take our nap now? I'm tired. After, I can walk you home."
Lexy nodded and laid down beside him, cuddling up to him happily. "Okay." she giggled quietly. She held his paw happily as she curled up on her mat beside him. Bashi snuggled up next to Lexy, but was stopped after a few minutes by Mrs. Teak.
"You two can't be like that. if the principal, or your parents found out, I'd be in trouble." Mrs. Teak warned as she slid Bashi's mat away from Lexy's a few inches, then turned around, and went back to her desk.
Lexy whimpered as her cheetah was scooted away from her. Bashi knew that Lexy would most likely be upset, so he rolled over toward her, and made a funny face as he reached for her paws, as he got as close as he could to her without leaving his mat.
Lexy rolled over and held onto his paws tightly as she moved as close as she could without leaving her mat. She was mad at the teacher for taking him away, but as long as she knew he was there, she wasn't going to cry.
Bashi held her paws for a minute before he fell into dreamland. He awoke with Lexy still in his paws, and the lights on. Mrs. Teak was ringing her bell saying it was time to go home.
Lexy purred quietly, letting go of one of his paws and sitting up. She noticed the teacher ringing her bell she figured it was time to go home, leaning over and licking Bashi on the nose. "Bashi, it's time to go home." she purred quietly, nudging him as she stood up and stretched.
"That's great, now I can walk you home, and we can play there, then tomorrow, I can take you to my house." Bashi chirped. He put his things into his book bag, and put it on. Then Bashi helped Lexy slip hers on, and walked hand in hand to the door.
Lexy giggled as she was helped with her things, blushing as she felt her hand being grabbed. She liked the idea of knowing he was going to be there for her tomorrow and the day after. She was going to be happy for a long time, as long as she was with him.
Bashi lead her down the sidewalk, pointing out every little thing they passed. "That tree is full of bees, so be careful, that rock is where Shapley fell and broke his arm..." Bashi got to the corner at the end of the property and got confused. "I think you'd better lead, I don't know where your house is."
Lexy giggled, tightening her grip on his paw as she walked down the sidewalk. She stopped in front of an red brick house with a white fenced yard and a concrete front porch. A tire swing swayed slightly in the wind. Lexy pulled him up the steps to her house. "Want to come in and play?"
"Yeah... oh, wait. I should probably go to my own house. My mommy won't know where I am." Bashi replied, his ears pulling down.
Lexy whimpered, tossing her bag into the yard and sat on the steps and looked up at him. "But I don't want you to go. I like having you around. Your the only friend I have. Not to mention that your my first boyfriend." she squeaks, her ears pinning back against her head.
Bashi grabbed her paws and pulled her back up gently. "Ok, I can push you on the swing once"
Lexy giggled and pulled him up, ripping his bag off and tossing it on the ground beside her's as she dragged him over to the swing. "Thank you, Bashi." she purred, jumping onto the swing and giggled.
Bashi stood in front of Lexy and leaned in close before kissing her lips. "I love you" he purred before giving her one great big push. "I'll see you tomorrow" Then Bashi turned picked, up his bag, then skipped home.
Lexy squeaked, jumping off the swing and watching him leave. Her paws rested on her lips, watching the first and only one she will ever love hurry home to his mommy. She couldn't move, couldn't think. "I love you too..." was all she could mumble under her breath.
