#8 of How to Act Like a Dragon (A Wings of Fire Fanfic)
Oof! Looks like Skyler is in deep trouble! All because he can't keep his thought to himself!
What will Queen Scarlet do to our poor human-turned dragon?
Find out more, in Chapter 8! owo
"Uhhhh..." The Queen backed me into a corner as I did my best to avoid looking at her.
The chains that are binding me crackled as I was forced to press my back against the rocky exterior of the wall as the Queen slammed her front legs close to the side of my head as her mouth closed in on the right side of my head. I can feel her hot breath, heck I can hear her soft breathing as I closed my eyes while chanting " Please no lewd, Please no lewd, Please no lewd " over and over in my mind.
' Wait, is this the dragon equivalent of being wall slammed? ' The dirty traitor at my mind returned with another ridiculous thought. ' Well, at least we can scratch * Getting Wall Slammed by a dragon * off the bucket list. '
"Hehe... You are adorable you know that?" Queen Scarlet said before removing her form away from my being.
Gosh, what is it with me and females?
"Ack!" I was then rudely being pulled by as the Queen grabbed my chains and dragged me outside into the afternoon sun.
Realizing that this embarrassing display of submissiveness is over, I quickly paddled to her side while looking down in shame (and possible accomplishment?).
How could I let myself be turned into a freaking toy to a freaking flirty, crazy sociopath? This is not the life that I expected when I got reborn into a dragon.
"My Queen!" An albeit large and bulky Mudwing approached Queen Scarlet as he bowed.
He looks very home looking, except for the fact that there is a huge scar in his chest and a very strange, and albino colored eyes. His light brown scales, his muddy-like appearance resembles Clay, albeit a little bit older.
" The Dragonets of Destiny are secured in their cages. Are you going to the Arena this afternoon for your daily amusement?" The Mudwing noticed my form and raised an eyebrow.
" Will he be one of the contestants to my Queen?"
Queen Scarlet flicked her tongue as she looked disapprovingly at the Mudwing Guard as she popped her tail at his nose making him stagger back and snort.
"First of all," Queen Scarlet booked his snout hard. " You must address me with my proper title, which is 'Your Majesty'." The Guard rubbed his snout as he nodded, which earned him another boop on the snoot.
"What did I just told you?" Queen Scarlet glared at the Mudwing Guard which made him shrink a bit..
"Yes... Your majesty..."
"Good! Seriously, are all Mudwings this unintelligent like you Mire?" Queen Scarlet didn't let Mire speak as she interrupted him.
"On second thought, never answer that, I already know what to expect from that illegible mouth of yours. As for your question~" Queen Scarlet looked at me from the corner of her eye as I looked away.
"This one is a special case. I will personally escort him to the Arena. For now, I would like to take him to my quarters for a little 'talk'."
Mire's eyes widened a bit, his gaze keep shifting back and forth from me and then to Queen Scarlet as I can figure out that he just misunderstood things.
"Uh..oh... Ummm. Okay your majesty. If that is the case, I would leave it to your own devices.... Uhhhh bye! " Mire's quickly flew off as I could have sworn his face turning a little bit red. Huh, could have been the heat of the afternoon sun, gosh it's so hot in here.
"Well what are we waiting for my pet? Carry on!" Queen Scarlet started to move as I was once again paraded through town and into another part of her glorious kingdom.
"Something is wrong... Why did that strange dragon decided to take the place of me and Clay?" Tsunami thought out loud as she laid there at her cage, pondering why a stranger decided to take the blunt of the Queen's sadistic methods of entertainment.
She shook he head as she tried to look for her precious friends that are being caged above the arena.
This afternoon, the strange dragon will fight an Icewing. Judging by the strange dragon's body and the way he reacted to the Queen, she can gravely say that the stranger is inexperienced when it comes to fighting. She cannot sense any fighting spirit from that strange dragon. Heck, even she can sense a little bit of fighting spirit from her friend Clay, who by the way is the second weakest fighter of their group.
Something is not right. She can feel it, as if something big will happen in this fight. There is no doubt that someone will get killed.
Silently, she hoped and pray to the God's that the strange dragon that helped them will make it out alive from what punishment that she and her friends were supposed to face.
"Pssst! Tsunami, over here!"
Snapping out of her thoughts, Tsunami heard the familiar voice of her Sandwing friend.
"Hey! Tsunami! Hello!" Sunny called out in a childish manner as Tsunami shushed her from her cage.
"Sunny!" Putting aside all thoughts from the strange dragon that helped them, Tsunami scrambled towards the side of the cage where she can be at least closer to Sunny.
"Sunny! How are you? They didn't do anything funny to you did they?" Tsunami said while frantically trying to look at Sunny for any bruises or cuts.
"Oh no! They actually treated me very good! It's like that they were afraid that I might get broken or something if mistreated wrong." Sunny put up a thinking face as Tsunami visibly relaxed.
"Well, that is to be expected. The Queen Scarlet did say she was gonna hand you over to Burn since you are a weird looking Sandwing." Before realizing what Tsunami had said, she went wide eyed and looked at the crestfallen Sunny.
"Oh no no no! I didn't mean it like that! You look great exactly what you look like Sunny! I swear! I was just quoting what the Queen had said! I didn't mean to--" Tsunami stopped as she noticed that not one bit of excuse is gonna help Sunny from what she said before. In fact she remembers that it doesn't bother Sunny when asked about her strange physical appearance. Perhaps...
Tsunami leaned forward, at least as close as she can get before asking, "You're thinking about the strange dragon that helped us huh?"
"Yup, I hust can't help but think of a reason why he saved us from... Down there." Both Sunny and Tsunami looked at the arena below them where dragons upon dragons are filling up the seats to watch the unfolding fight.
"Yeah me to..." Tsunami and Sunny went silent as they pondered any sort of explanation on why they get a pass from the fight. But so far, all they could think of is...
"I guess he's just a good dragon I suppose?" Sunny offered to Tsunami as she shook her head in reply.
"No... There's no way a stranger, nonetheless a dragon would save another dragon unless they have an ulterior motive." Tsunami stated before retracting her former statement when she caught the look Sunny was giving her.
"Besides us of course. I mean, after all, we are friends right?" Tsunami smiled sheepishly.
"If so, wouldn't that be much better than nothing? I mean, it seems that most of the dragons in this place don't seem to bother helping us. " Sunny had a point. If so, that only complicates things about the strange dragon's actions.
"I guess we'll just have to wait and see then..." Tsunami said dejectedly. Hopefully they will get a chance to talk again if he can get out alive from the fight below.
If he can get out....
~~~~~
"Ah! Ohhh~~ yes.... Harder...." The Queen moaned as I sat uncomfortable from behind.
"Yes... Right there, scratch that itch- ah!" She let out a yelped as I held back tears of shame from the weird display that I am doing to her right now.
"Ummm... Your majesty?"
"Rurrr.... Yes my pet?"
"I don't wanna sound rude but... Remind me why am I doing this to you?"
Right here in Queen Scarlet's private Chambers, I am currently massaging the Queen's body.
Yup, you heard me right. I have been promoted from being a dragon pet to a freaking masseurs.
"Because I asked you to. Unless.... You wanted something more... Physical?" The Queen turned her head around and looked at me with a smile while pointing at the chains lying at the floor.
I immediately shook my head and continue to rub my paws around the center of her shoulder blades. There is no way I'm wearing those blasted chains again. They itch.
"As I thought." The Queen resumed to her usual pose before I asked another question.
"Your majesty?"
"Yes my pet-- ah!" The Queen moaned as I hit another sore spot as she purred. Ok, maybe this isn't all so bad. At least I can scratch * see Queen Scarlet purr despite the chance of that happening is astronomically low * off my bucket list.
"Didn't you say we are gonna have a 'talk' earlier?" I smiled nervously as she turned her head around to look at me as I strengthen my back rubs.
"Hrrnnng I guess I did. Very well." Queen Scarlet then stood up, which made me fall into the side.
She stretched her body, her face oddly looking refreshed and satisfied as she looked at me with approval.
"You know, if I had known you were this good at pleasuring dragons, I wouldn't have gave you to that Burn." Queen Scarlet coyly said before her face turning into a serious expression.
I gulped and immediately Rose in a sitting expression as Queen Scarlet give me a weird look.
"So, tell me pet." Queen Scarlet circled me around like a predator would before placing a claw in my head.
"Do you know how to fight?"
~~~~~~~
Clay is not having a very good time now.
The wind pushing his cage did little to calm his nerves as he looked down at how high he is from the ground. The chains that are binding his wings felt uncomfortable that it made him very antsy as he tried to shift into a comfortable position without swaying his cage too much in fear of falling to his doom.
Usually as a dragon, he would never fear heights however, there is a first time for everything.
Clay sighed as he flops in his cage. This isn't what he imagined when they finally went outside the confines of their small little world. Instead of freedom where he dreamt of adventuring with his friends, he is being caged like a bird instead.
How he missed the feeling of mud in his toes. He wished he could get out of this cage and find his and their friend's family. But with his current predicament, that won't be the case.
There is also the fact that a strange dragon just so happen to be near their cave, spying on them and getting caught in the middle of their problem. Poor thing must be terrified by his expression along when he saw him interact with the Queen.
What made him more strange is the fact that he decided to go in place of Tsunami and Clay, and that he had saved Sunny from being sent to Burn, the terrible of the three Sandwing Sisters.
Just who is that dragon? Why did he helped them? Is it because they are the Dragonets of Destiny?
Clay's not used to thinking this hard. It made his head hurt. He'd rather have been lying in the mud and eat some delicious cows and be there with his friends.
At least they are still together in this... He hoped.
~~~~~~~
Glory couldn't believe what she heard back there.
A strange dragon just offered to be the one to go and fight in the arena in place of Tsunami and Clay.
Why did that stranger helped them? Glory is sus about that dragon. Not to mention that it is a dragon that she never saw from any of the scrolls that they read or the guardians that taught them.
Something strange is going on here. She hoped that whoever that stranger is, she hoped that he would probably end up being allies with them. Right now, there are little to possibly no dragon that would be willing to stand up to the Queen since she held captive the so called 'Dragons of Prophecy'.
As her thoughts came to an end, the tree that she was pretending to be sleeping shook as the arena roared to life and she slightly open her eyes and took a peek from the surrounding area.
Many dragons from Mudwings to. Skywings cheered as Queen Scarlet came to the stage, albeit the strange dragon that she was dragging to and fro was missing from her grasp.
Could it be?... Did that dragon...
Just before she can finish that thought, the dragon that she was thinking came into view as he walked towards the arena from the underground rooms below.
A lot of murmurs can be heard around the audience, some of them whispered to each other while another threw judging glances at the way the strange dragon looked around him.
She hoped that the dragon that saved her friends would be ok.
~~~~~~~
"Crap crap crap crap crap crap crap.. What have I gotten myself into?" I thought to myself as every fibre if my being is sending red signals to my brain as I looked around while entering the arena.
The talk with the Queen was not short of a 'talk', more like a threat. If I don't do an amazing performance this time, I'll be 'punished' by her Majesty the Queen.
As my claws reached the dusty ground of the arena, the burning sun came to me, reflecting my white scales as a guest of wind blew through my form, my hair swayed with the wind as I straightened myself.
"No, now is not the time to get cold feet. Don't worry, you got this. You are a dragon now. Your claws are basically sword, your tail is a whip. Your a freaking killing machine!" I said to myself, trying to lift my self esteem and pumping up my ego as I looked forward and tried to look bold and imposing.
So far, that only lasted for a second before the the crowd of dragons roared and I went back to being a whimp and looked down.
"God that was embarrassing..."
The rattling if chains came to my ear as I looked above and saw the Dragonets of Destiny.
Clay, the overly wholesome Mudwing is looking at me with... Concern? Huh, that's new. His face shifted from concern to surprised as I looked back at him and waved.
After that I saw the rest of the Dragonets that are looking at me. There is Tsunami and Sunny almost three meters away from each other giving me looks of concern. I waved at them to and give them a smile.
They were also taken aback by this as though why a stranger decided to help them AND waved at them despite being forced to fight to the death in the arena.
And then there is Starflight. I can sense his analytical gaze at me as I looked back at him. I hope he knows that I am not planning on losing this fight.
My first fight as a dragon better end up with me winning or else not only will I get punished, I'll also have a bruised ego.
I looked at him in the eye and nodded at him and smiled. Hoping that he read my thoughts that I'll be winning this thing.
If my opponent is the same as what Clay fought then I'll just have to predict his movement according to the book that I read. Hopefully it shouldn't be too hard.
And then when I looked at where the Queen was supposed to be watching, there I saw Glory. Her beautiful scales complimented the tree that she was staying, it kind looks like she's some sort of Dragon Chameleon.
At first look, she might be sleeping, but I know for a fact that she was just pretending to be asleep. According to the books, she was just looking out for Clay and gave the Icewing a Magical Death Spit in the face.
She may feel like an outcast of the Dragonets but she played a major role in the upcoming Poison Jungle books, at least, that's what my friend, Tyler, told me when he was overly excited spoiling me of the future books that I haven't read yet. Oh well, in this case any information will do me good. Don't wanna change the timeline too much and make them changed their behaviors into weird ways.
Giving Glory a smile and a nod, the roaring finally stopped around me as Queen Scarlet came into her seat as a Skywings announcer came into view from a platform that is right above the arena.
His voice echoed, grabbing the attention of all dragons, including the cages that are above the arena as I listened expectantly, hoping to catch some useful information.
"Dragons and Dragonesses!" The Skywing's voice boomed.
"Today we have a special dragon that will be fighting today! During the last couple of days, our Majesty, the Queen managed to get her claws on a particularly unknown dragon species! "
The audience began to murmurs once again as I heard a few of them saying " An unknown species of dragon? " "Oh! This is gonna be an exciting fight!" "I wonder who will win?".
As the murmurs began to die down, the Skywings continue his impromptu speech.
"Yes! You heard me! An Unknown dragon! And not only that, we also have a few dragons that will serve to entertain us for the next few days, if they survive if course. Everydragon! Meet the so called Dragonets of Prophecy'!" The audience laughed as the Skywing's directed their attention towards the caged Dragonets and the sleeping form of Glory.
Ok, it's official, I hate that dragon.
Normally I wouldn't mind if it would be me who he is insulting. I am already used to being insulted by my family, but insulting the main characters of the story and making Clay sad?
No freaking way am I leaving this place without punching that Skywing in the face.
"Ahh but we are not here for them are we? Well, not for now at least." The Skywing cleared his throat before continuing.
"Well without further ado, let me introduce you to the fighters that will be facing death in the face!"
The gate that is in front of me opened up as an unknown Icewing walked forward, teeth growling and eyes glaring at the Queen and the Skywing announcer, then his eyes fall into me, turning his fury into curiosity and then waryness.
"After last month's battle with Blaze's army, our dungeons were stuffed with Icewing prisoners of war. Only nine have survived. After two wins, I give you -- Fjord of the IceWings! Hold on to your wings! This dragon likes to give the cold shoulder!" Numerous laugh repeated across the arena as I groaned and facepalmed. Great, now he is making me wanna kill him for that pun.
Fjord looked at me warily, his stance shifting into a defensive position as he snarled.
"And in this corner, hailing from land, sky and seas unknown, a strange dragon with unusual features! Everyone I present to you.... Uhmm..." The Skywing's voice stuttered as he realized that he didn't know my name. Well, that was awkward.
The Skywing looked at the Queen who gave him a fierce glare as he gulped and looked at me, trembling.
"I ahh.. dear Challenger! If you would be so kind, state your name and your thoughts regarding today's fight!" The Skywing announcer then whispered to himself, "I am so gonna get killed today."
"You've gotta be kidding me."
Immediately all eyes were on me as I suddenly felt self conscious. I tried to think of a way to introduce myself but my mind gave me a blank. Fuck.
What do I say in this situation? Should I quite something from something? Crap! Stupid announcer! I hope you die!
My body is in shambles, I can't stop shaking as numerous judging stares bore into me as I look up and hope for anything that can save me from this freakishly awkward situation.
However, when I was about to say something embarrassing, I saw Clay looking at me and smiled. Not in a mocking way or a devious one.
It was a smile that is filled with comfort. Clay is smiling at me, hopefully telling me that I'll be okay.
And not only him, I saw Sunny and Tsunami looking at me with determination in their eyes, well, Tsunami is, Sunny is just grinning at me, waiting for me to say my part.
And then there is Starflight and Glory. Starflight is looking at me, but when I turned to look at him, he gave me a nod, signalling me to continue on. Glory just peaked her eye at me and winked.
She just winked at me.
This is the best day ever!
Closing my eyes, holding a deep breath and exhaling, I calmed my heart down as I let the wind flow naturally through my body.
I looked around with fierce determination at the audience, at the Dragonets, at my opponent and the Queen.
And then I looked at myself.
There in the corner of the arena, I saw a reflection of myself in one of the shiny metal beams, although it may be smudged, it showed me that I am not human anymore.
I am now a dragon. This is my second life, and I will live how I see fit.
With the words forming deep in my mind and my throat ready to burst forth.
I took a step forward and proudly presented myself to the audience, stretching my wings to its limits and shouted.

To be continued.
