Elvira and Seth - Chapter 9
#9 of Elvira and Seth
Chapter 9
Climbing the stairs and standing in the daylight again, Seth looked at Isis. "Well, that was a sentence with an X."
"At least I met Ammit," Elvira rebuffed.
"Yeah," Anubis started, "she had a reasonably good day. Most of the time she's not so sociable."
"So what do we do now?" echoed Seth.
"You go with your partner to Maahes. Maybe he already has an assignment for you," Isis ordered.
"A good idea. That way my she-wolf will get to know almost all the notable figures from Egyptian mythology in no time."
"Maahes?" mused Elvira, "There was something."
"The god of carnage. A big maned lion cat, deep voice," Seth explained in shorthand.
"Yes, it's dawning again now," the she-wolf confirmed.
"Excellent. Let's go see him now, then."
No sooner said than done, he took Elvira by the hand and marched across the square.
"Do you really think this is a good idea?" asked Anubis, addressing Isis.
"I don't know. Do you have a better one?"
"That's how you make a she-wolf immortal and a demigoddess," Anubis muttered, sighing.
"I never thought the half-mule would find a suitable mate either."
"Especially one who is a match for him," the jackal god quipped.
"That's another question, but it seems the two have indeed sought and found each other. One could hardly wish for a more beautiful couple," Isis stated.
"I wonder if she will be able to conceive children by him?" pondered Anubis.
"That remains to be seen. As a mule, his seed is actually fruitless. Whereas he is half jackal, so maybe something will do."
"Or the offspring will look like him with a wolf's share."
"Another one of his kind?" indignant Isis.
"It won't get any worse," Anubis countered.
"That's what Prometheus said when he was beaten to the rock with chains, too, and then the harpies came and took his liver."
"How melodramatic," Anubis sighed, waving it off.
In the meantime, Seth had crossed the square with Elvira, had run into various gods, and finally stood before a wooden gate.
"So, this is where the Long Maned One lives," Seth began.
"And it is from him that you get your orders?" echoed Elvira.
"Yes. He doesn't bother to take care of half-creatures himself anymore."
"Oh, so I'm a half-being?" the wolf-woman asked, a little nibbled.
"I wouldn't call it that, it's not like it's an insult."
"Wouldn't have thought of it. Knock and let's go in," Elvira urged her jackal mule.
Seth was about to knock when the door was already yanked open from the inside.
In the middle of the frame stood a hunk like a rock, but covered with yellow fur, muscular and a mane that could not have been wilder.
"Come on in. About time you showed up at my place," rumbled the lion god.
After the closed the door again, he looked sternly at both of them. "What were you thinking, anyway?" he growled.
"What do you mean?" asked Seth.
"I mean that you should bring Elvira here, get into a fight, almost get killed by a blade that has been wetted with the waters of extinction, and for everything to go really well out of hand, you make sure that the wolf-woman becomes immortal as well."
"I'm of the opinion that she deserves it, because after all, she saved my life."
"Because of me," Maahes growled again, turning to Elvira, "Did you at least have fun doing it?"
"I guess that's none of your business," the wolf-woman growled at the lion-god.
He winced imperceptibly. "You've got a lot of nerve, daring to contradict a god."
"Everyone gets what they need."
"Not badly countered," Maahes muttered, pointing to two chairs, "Sit!"
After Seth and his partner were seated and the lion seated himself, the lion started up again. "I have something for both of you."
"Oh, for me too?" asked Elvira between them, getting a stern look from Maahes, whereupon she fell silent again.
"Seth. I have faith in you, a hell of a lot of faith, and I hope you're not just thinking with your dick," Maahes continued.
"I have that one very well under control," Seth replied.
"I should hope so, because you need to contact a liaison and he'll tell you where the extinction water came from and who sold it to this robber."
"Sounds dangerous. Do you think it's advisable for her to come along?"
"I very well take care of myself," the wolf-woman blurted repeatedly.
"I can tell," Maahes resented, "you can't even manage to wait for the right time at this moment."
"Elvira! Please!" admonished Seth to his wolfish goddess, "it's really serious."
"Phew," came the short reply.
"Fine. Who is the liaison?"
"It is the son of Pasiphae."
"Minotaur?" echoed Seth.
"That's the one. He's squatting in the labyrinth."
"May I ask a question of understanding?" blurted out Elvira.
Maahes and Seth looked curiously at the wolf-woman.
"Shoot," the lion prompted them.
"Are we talking about the child from the mating of a human woman with a bull right now?"
"That's right. Pasiphae, the wife of Minos, who did it with a bull," Seth replied.
"That's what I wanted to know. But where do we find the labyrinth and how do we get out of it without the Minotaur killing us?"
"You don't have to care about that. You stay outside the entrance with the red thread of Ariadne."
"And then what? What if the Minotaur gets a hold of you?"
Maahes answered instead of Seth. "Then he'll kick his ass."
"Literally, or is that a euphemism?"
"It's a euphemism for ...," Seth started.
"... He'll mount you," Elvira completed the sentence.
"That's one way to put it. He hasn't had sex in a long time."
"I hear it smells like bull semen in the maze, like an oversized cattle farm," Maahes quipped.
"Thanks. That builds me up," growled Seth.
"Delightful," Elvira muttered.
"I'll do everything I can to make sure he doesn't."
"I should hope so," Elvira said, sighing, "and where do we start?"
Maahes picked up a map and laid it on the table. "You'll ride south by the mountains. At the end is a passage to the other side. When you leave the massif, ride east for a few more hours, then you'll hit the entrance near the oasis."
"Sounds like a plan," Seth exulted, looking encouragingly at Elvira.
"Yes. Then let's start right away," the wolf-woman replied, standing up.
"Report to Anubis, your horses will be ready in an hour and will carry enough provisions."
"Thank you!" said Seth still, pulling Elvira out with him.
"Say, are you still up for it?" the hybrid rumbled.
"But so what, but with you the ass seems to be looking forward to a cattle-fuck," Elvira shouted.
The square, and thus around the two of them, suddenly fell silent.
"Let me guess," Anubis called across, "Maahes sent you to Minotaur."
"Yes," Elvira yelled back, "and I don't like that at all."
"What else are you going to do?" echoed Seth.
"I'm going to the labyrinth."
"Sure, you don't even know your way around, run into the under-fucked bull, and then it's off to the races."
"You think I can't take it? I can stand you, after all."
"Oh yeah, you forget that my dick fits your pussy because I'm yours and I'm yours by choice. That animal there, takes you, doesn't adapt. That one adapts you to its needs and when that thing is in the back and comes out the top, you know it was a bad idea."
"And you can stand it?"
"He'll adapt, but I'll make sure it doesn't get to that point. You want me to talk to him, remember? I'm not going in there to cuddle."
"Exactly. Anything can happen."
"Then something happens. Something always happens, get it," Seth growled, "We're welcome to look out for each other, but only as long as we can. We can't wrap ourselves in absorbent cotton and compartmentalize. We have each other, whether it's mentally, spiritually, emotionally or physically, but there's a damn personal responsibility and bears each other. Each of us can make decisions for ourselves, but never for the other or even incapacitate our partner."
"I didn't mean it that way either, but I'm very reluctant to lose my lover to a horny bull," Elvira rumbled back, growling menacingly.
"I'm very glad you're so worried, but trust me. Only I can do this."
The wolf-woman took a deep breath and sighed, "Because of me."
"Very well, and now let us go to Anubis."
