Wolf Moon Chapter 7
Alice:
I was worried about Josh he has been different ever since Spencer kidnapped me three weeks ago. He has been going to school but he has been ignoring me and my calls. I talked to Kaleb and he told me that Spencer was their friend and that Josh felt guilty because he didn't help him or didn't even noticed that he had been turned. He also told me that Josh as been either training at the base or going out on patrol.
"Well can I go to this base and talk to him?" I felt lost without Josh and it's been hell the last few weeks.
"I'm sorry Alice it's no my call." I could tell he wanted to help so I used that. "Please Kaleb for Josh."
"Fine there's an entrance in the downtown library just..."
"Why is it there?" The library has been there for at least seventy years with a couple renovations.
"If you go through the main entrance the guards will stop you." He explained how to get in and it was easy to remember.
At the Library:
OK I was in the nonfiction section in the back of the first floor. I was looking for the L's on the wall for the book "Dogs of the Moon" by Arron Lycan. After a bit of searching I found it in the corner. I looked around to make sure nobody was around. I pulled the book and the bookshelf spun and I was on the other side just like Kaleb said. I walked down a stone spiral staircase (which was barely lit).
Josh:
"Your Majesty you haven't stopped training since you returned please take a break" One of the scientist was saying. I had him analyze the data on my work outs to see if I could raise my strength.
"No get the speed test ready." I started to put the sensors on that would have the computer on the treadmill (which is larger than most for shifts into wolf form) to stay at the highest my body can handle.
"Yes sir." He walked away to the computer. I walked to the treadmill and it instantly started and I started to run and I looked up at the sign on the wall next to the machine with the speed and stats in very large print and in red.
I faced forward and ran as fast and as long as I could. I started to drift into my mind and the images in my head from the fight between me and Spencer. Him withering into dust and blowing away. It was hard but what scared me is the last thing that he whispered into my ear, something so quiet that only I could hear.
"He sent me to kill you. He's knows everything about you, and he said that he would wipe your kind from existence." His last words, but the thing that scared me was that Spencer had full control of himself and that there was no evidence that pointed to a higher up, and not to mention the blade he had was made from an unknown metal. Vampires usually go through a blood rage the first couple of months but he was only two weeks old at the most. The only time that ever happens is if you are turned by an elder. The problem with that is all the elders were wiped out a long time ago and vampires left aren't pure-bloods from the bloodline. I started breathing heavily which means it's was time to shift.
Alice:
After a couple of tunnels (which thankfully Kaleb's directions helped with) the room opened up into metal walls and floors. How do the build something underground anyway. The water table in Louisiana is so high it usually makes building underground impossible. The room seamed like a supply room. I walked out and their was a sign on the room with arrows pointing out where everything is. Kaleb said Josh is most likely in the training room. I followed the signs to the training room (luckily nobody was walking around). I saw a glass wall with a glass door. On the other was Josh on what seamed like a giant treadmill. There was a sign behind him saying 20mph then he jumped and shifted after a minute. He wasn't wearing a shirt but his shorts ripped apart. Were he was running was now a large black wolf. It was the first time I had ever seen him transform into his wolf form (I had seen him change into his "bitten form" once but his clothes didn't completely rip apart and he was leaving so I didn't see much). I walked in and he immediately looked my way and so did another man.
"Hey young lady you aren't suppose to be in here!" The older man said walking towards me.
"I know him." he was now pushing me out the room.
"Stop it's OK she's with me." a deep somewhat familiar voice. I looked around the man and saw a larger wolf human hybrid just like when I saw Josh transform and I saw that the large wolf was gone so that means that...
"Alice how did you get in here!" The wolf yelled.
"Kaleb told me how to get in." I saw it before but it was still unbelievable that this was my boyfriend. It had to be the voice sounded like his but deeper and there was no one in here.
"Leave us." the other man soon walked out saying something like "Yes you Majesty." but I was still staring at the wolf in front of me. I looked lower then I saw what seemed to be what looked like a sheath that you would see on a dog it was so large.
"Alice go home." I started to blush as I remembered where I was. Josh was looking straight at me.
"No" I didn't come here for nothing. "You haven't been the same since Spencer. Just talk to me."
"What do you want me to tell you that my best friend turned into a monster and tried to kill us both or that..." but then the door opened.
"Did I walk into something." The voice came from a handsome large guy who looked like he was in his late teens early twenties. He was very muscular with a tight T-shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap on. He told his hat off and started to wave it in front of his face. He had a bit of facial hair on his chin but the rest of his face was smooth and perfect.
"I forgot how hot and muggy it is here." he looked at me. "Oh and you must be Alice I've heard so much about you."
"That would be me but who are you?" I turned to Josh and he had a smile on his face.
"Alice this is my brother Devin." OK now I'm lost.
Josh:
"It's been to long." Devin was my half brother who moved in with us after his mother was died. He moved in after my mother asked if she could raise him when he was eight and I was the same age at the time. He was quiet and avoided me at first but we ended up best friend and he became my brother and an actual son to my mother. My father never wanted anything to do with him just like me but when he turned fifteen he was ordered to live in Venice with my father. It crushed all three of us, I lost a brother and he lost a family again. We still talked any chance we got but apparently our father always had him training. "Have you seen mom?"
"Ya I went there first and she didn't even recognize me at first." To me he looked the same as always just bigger. "Maybe you should change back and put some clothes on there is a lady in the room."
I realize my clothes ripped and was naked.
"Shit be right back" I ran to the next room and put on some clothes. I heard laughter and I walked back into the training room. Alice and Devin were sitting and talking.
"Why didn't you tell me about your brother?" Alice apparently already made friends with him (He made friends easily).
"You never asked." I sat down in a chair next to them.
"So how did you get away from father's training?" I saw his smile fade away. "I heard about Spencer and so did he and he sent me to personally invite you to the Palace." He looked serious. "He wants to talk about what happen like the fact that Spencer was thinking logically and that he had an Auroran blade."
"A what blade?" me and Alice said at the same time.
"Don't you remember the swords in the legends about the elder vampires their blades were made from an element called aurora." Devin was smart as well as strong but he specialize in werewolf and vampire history.
"I thought there was no proof of the element and how did y'all find out?" Any evidence of the element was destroyed because he was very affective against our kind.
"That's what we thought and father does have access to the systems." And the report on the situation was filed in the system. "Apparently the scan on the sword set of an alert."
"When do I have to leave?" I really didn't want to go.
"He wants you to to leave now." Alice looked at both of us. She looked lost. I'll fill her in later.
"What about you?" I hoped he could stay again. He always had a home with us and always will.
"I can't leave until he let's me." Alice apparently was told about what happen because she looked sad. The door opened again but this time it was Kaleb.
"Holy shit Devin is that you." Kaleb was friends with him too of course.
"Kaleb good to see you." He got up and hugged Kaleb.
"Well Kaleb sorry to do this but I have to go your in charge." I got up and Alice stood up as well. Kaleb was saying something but I wasn't paying attention.
"Alice I'll be back I promise and then we can talk about this." She looked down. Then she looked back up at me.
"Just be careful I have a bad feeling about this." She was worried about me even though I ignored her the past three weeks.
"Don't worry I'll take good care of my little bro." I put his arm around me.
"Older by only four months" Alice giggled when he say us argue.
"But still older." We all laughed. It was good to have him back. Hopefully I can convince father to let him come back with me. It was awkward saying good bye to Alice. I wanted to say away from her because I didn't want her again but I can't get her out of my head. I just want to be with her and that's half of the reason why the past few weeks have sucked. In the end I kissed her forehead told her I love and don't do anything stupid.
"Now what do you mean I'm in charge?" Kaleb asked.
"Your in charge of North America while I go to Venice." I could have sworn he was about to faint.
The Next Day Over Venice, Italy
"I hate fling." I was squeezing the stuffing out of the chair.
"You mentioned that a couple times." Devin was relaxed in his chair almost sleeping. Even in the large private plane made for comfort I couldn't relax the majority was not from fling(which I really hate) but from the fact that I will see my father (who I really really hate). The captain came on the intercom to say we are about to land.
"Oh and Chance wanted to tell you that he can't wait to see you again." Chance is our younger brother who last I recall lives in New York. I had meet him a couple of times. The is thirteen and very clingy to me and Devin. Last time he asked to train with us and he ended up with a broken arm (not my fault) when we had a gathering in New York. His mother was a successful fashion designer but unlike most kids in his situation he didn't become spoiled, he became a better person (he often went help the homeless or children in hospitals.).
"He's there?" I would expect him to be in school. He also was smart even for a werewolf (werewolves are at this time about a hundred years ahead of the rest of the world).
"Ya his mother had a show in Rome so he came visit." Devin probably loved doing something different. Devin hated being told what to do like (which was like an death sentence for him when he got sent here). When he lived with us we were inseparable which means I let him do whatever he wanted, and with all that free time he would stay and help me or mom. "Hey by the way I'm sorry about Spencer."
"I hate that I couldn't help him." I probably messed with Devin because when he wasn't with me or Kaleb he was with Spencer. "I can't believe that he attacked me and Kaleb."
"Why do you think he did it?" I thought about what I should say to that.
"He said something about he learned how we lied to him and how I abandoned him for Alice."
"It wasn't your fault." He got up and looked at me. "Him turning into that changed him."
"But I could have protected him!" I ate me inside that I killed my best friend and let him go down that path. He pulled me into a hug.
"You couldn't have know that would happen."Devin always knew how to help me. One time a group of kids beat me up because I was "weird" and when Devin saw he beat them up and then helped all of them back up and asked if we could all be friends. At the time I thought he was weird for trying to be friends bit later I figured why he did it. One more friend is one less enemy and one more person to stand with you and help you up when you get knocked down.
The plane landed a few minutes later. We left the airport and went down the canals of Venice. This was the home to the headquarters for werewolves. It was underwater to be exact. The entrance is on an island of the coast. Once we got to the island we were greeted by three weredobies and a wererottweiler (they were in bitten forms in plain daylight). The rottweiler winked at me and Devin just watched and chuckled.
"Looks like guys think you're cute too." he was laughing while I blushed. We meet two more guards, a weretiger and a werecroc. Behind them was the elevator we step up to them and they bowed and moved to the side. It was an glass elevator and so was the tube. All the fish swam passed and something swam away to fast to see what it was. We reached a large terminal like room with a tunnel to the Palace. The tram came soon after. The palace was actually an underwater city for weres of all types. Most were in their bitten or animal forms. I had never been here nut yet I felt at home, but even that didn't help with my gut feeling. We walked down the streets to the palace (the palace for my father not the Palace aka the city). At the entrance I heard someone yelling my name. I looked around then up and saw Chance jumping from a balcony to a neighboring building. Then down to the street and then ran up to us.
"Chance it's good to see you!" He can hug me. He was only thirteen and he's already almost as tall as me, and he's getting more muscular. "Dude you getting big."
"I know and I even got a girlfriend." His voice was now settling from puberty.
"Really so do I" I wonder what Alice is doing. I guess I'll call her later.
"Trust me everyone knows." What is he talking about. I turned towards Devin.
"Don't look at me." He knew something he was smiling. "Everyone in the palace heard when father found out you are dating a human."
"Well who told him that?" Wait databases... no nothing on that.
"Facebook" Devin said then started laughing then Chance started laughing.
"Dad actually got one and you should see the profile picture." No that's impossible.
"No way when?" This was to good to pass up.
"After I told him he was getting old." Wait Devin actually told father that. How is he alive?
"Well how did he find out if I didn't accept a friend request?" I haven't been on facebook in forever.
"Friend of a friend." Dam facebook can't ever keep a secret. We talked a bit then headed inside. I went to my quarters to find my stuff already there with a note on top. I opened and read in to myself.
"Dear Josh,
You have come early than I expected. Tonight is an annual ball that you are now required to attend. I have put an outfit in the closet for you. We shall discuss our business as soon as possible.
Your father,
William"
Wow a letter more than he usually says. Well guess I have no choice. Then my brothers came in.
"How marvelous a ball" Devin was laughing
"You brought me early on purpose didn't you?" This was so his idea.
"Maybe maybe not." he stuck his tongue at me.
"I hate you." I said with no emotion.
"So like I care." he said still laughing.
"I care if you hate each other!" Chance popped out of his silence.
"Don't worry he can't hate me he loves me too much" I flipped him off.
"Get out so I can change." Might as well get this over with.
Two Hours Later In The Grand Ballroom
I walked into the room to see a crowed room of human forms and bitten forms in suits and dresses. My father was on a throne in the back looking very unhappy. I walked over to him and bowed while saying "Your Majesty".
He nodded with a scowl. I turned to look for my brothers. Unfortunately I did but not the right ones. In front of me stood Allen and Nathan Lycaon.
"Well well well look what the mutts dragged in another mutt." Allen was in charge of Asia and the deuce lord himself.
"Why not go back to your mothers tit you managing mongrel." And Nathan the pack master of Africa and Allen's but buddy.
"Really this immature game again I'm only seventeen and your both almost a hundred and I"m still the smartest and most mature of us three." Which was true Allen was 98 years old and Nathan was 88 yet both were pups compared to father at 1138 (about 58 in human years but looked 42).
"You tell them bro." A woman and a close friend and sibling said behind me.
"Georgia how good to see you." Georgia was the only remaining sisters alive of the twelve of us and the oldest at 543 (but was like 34 in human years looked about 26). She was the pack master of South America.
"Good to see you too now lets leave these idiots to fight amongst them selves." She walked me off towards Devin and Chance.
"So any other brothers here." I only got along with one other out of twelve. The rest hated me for being alive. Our group was the only five who liked humans and supported changing the ways to better blend in with the new world.
"Nope the rest couldn't make it." Georgia said staring at a tiger with eyes full of lust. "Excuse me I'll me taking to that little kitty over there.
"There she goes" Devin said laughing as she flipped him off.
"She heard you dumbass." I laughed. Then someone walked up to me. The rottweiler from earlier.
"Your Majesty." Here we go. He bowed. "I'm Alistair at your service."
"Please to meet you and apparently you know me. So tell me how did you go from guard duty to a guest at the ball?" I asked with interest.
"Well I know some people and I had to see you again." I wondered what his human form looked like. He leaned over next to my ear and whispered.
"Meet me in your room in twenty minutes." My mind ran though possibilities. "The council has something to present to you and don't tell anyone keep the act up. Also you really are cute."
I pretended to giggle.
"Well hope you didn't plan on getting far because apparently everyone knows I'm dating a human female." The council a group of werewolves who make sure the king doesn't have too much power and is guiding our kind in rhe right direction. I can't say I wasn't interested in his other offer (I have been with one male before I meet Alice)
"That never stopped me before." He winked.
"If you don't take him I will." Did I forget to mention Devin is gay.
"As much as I would like that I have my eyes on this one." He looked back at me.
"Tell me why stay in that form?" Most likely his answer would be he liked it better.
"I think you know that answer from the look on your face." He smiled.
"Wow you're good." He was a good actor if he is really even acting.
"Sorry but I must go see you later your Majesty." He walked off shortly after
"Looks like someone is getting lucky." I looked at him with a mean look. I had to keep up the act Devin was smart and so was Chance.
"I don't think so." I rolled my eyes.
"Why not Alice?" He knew the answer so he continued. "Why not have some fun while you can?"
"Because I wont betray her trust." He looked at me with a smile.
"I wont tell." I didn't like that look.
"Neither will I" Chance said. "Go get you some booty"
"Shut up your to young for that." I slapped the back of his head. Should I do it. The council isn't something you avoid for long if they want you they'll get you. "I'm not going to sleep with him."
Ten minutes went by and I didn't know what to do. I had five minutes before I had to meet him. I made my decision. I was going to meet him. I walked back to my room. What did the council want with me? I reach my room and I opened the door and the rottweiler was standing next to a hologram of three men. I recognized all three. They were the council they backup government for the werewolves. Even though they weren't actually in the room it had a feeling that made you cringe from their power. I did my best to stay strong.
"Pup what do you think of your father?" Is this what they wanted to know my family relationship status.
"He is to focused on the old ways and if we don't change the humans will catch up to us and become a threat." The middle one raised an eyebrow.
"And what do you think about the humans?" He knew about Alice I could tell in his voice.
"I think we should find a way too peacefully coexist with them." I honestly believed that with all my being.
"Well you agree with us and half of your family." The left one said.
"But are you willing to step up against you father?" The right man said.
"What do you mean by that?" Were the actually planning to overthrow father?
"Why me?" They could have asked Georgia or Devin or even Alex(the other brother that doesn't hate my existence)
"You are a perfect match to what we need to change the views of our kind and make the goal you mentioned reality." The middle one said as he stared at me with those glowing amber eyes.
"We know you will say yes but we shall ask you again in a week." I really didn't want to be king. "Good day your Majesty"
The hologram vanished and the rottweiler grabbed a device of the table. He turned and looked at me.
"You realize if you become the werewolf king you will rule the weredogs as well." He looked a bit worried for good reason. Dogs are usually constantly put down by wolves and sometimes even have no right in werewolf cases.
"Why do you think I will doom you species?" Personally I thought it was unjust that they were mistreated.
"Well I'm am one of the last of the "royal" rottweilers left." It was VERY rare to have a weredog who could change to bitten and dog forms.
"Wow no wonder the council uses you as a messenger boy your special." He looked at me and I could see how much hurt he had inside.
"I'm not special I'm just a tool to them." I felt sorry for him and I wanted to help so I hugged him.
"Don't down yourself dude. Low self esteem annoys me." He laughed a bit. "Besides how can you be sad with a friend like me."
"We're friends now." He looked at me with a bit of hope in his eyes.
"Only if you want to." Why was he acting so happy.
"I never had a real friend before." That was unbelievable.
"What about those dobies?" He had to have at least one friend.
"They are just some work buddies that I talk to when I need some work." Why was this so difficult for him to believe. He looked at me then he kissed me. I pulled back away from him.
"Sorry that's right you have a girlfriend and you are probably straight." he looked worse that before.
"I do have a girlfriend but I didn't say I was straight maybe bi." He looked up again.
"Why not get to know Devin he really likes you." Looks like I hit the right button because he lit up brighter than a Christmas tree.
"You serious I thought he was kidding he looks like he could have any girl he wants." He thought Devin was straight that is weird. Sure he wasn't like fairy gay but he couldn't even look at boobs without running to the nearest guy and hide behind them.
"Look we can be friends and I'll let him know your interested and by tomorrow he will be humping you leg." We both laughed.
"Thank you again and I'm sorry for kissing you." He was blushing and it made me uncomfortable.
"No problem just remember if you two get together you owe me." He smiled and looked at me like I was crazy.
"Owe you what?" I smiled at him. A few thoughts popped up.
"I'll come up with something." he laughed. We told each other good night and I pulled put my phone I had a message from Alice and Devin. Alice texted me that she loves me and be careful and Devin asked how good Alistair was in bed. I told Alice I love her and I will be back as soon as possible and I told Devin nothing happened that he wanted his number and I gave Alistair his number. Three seconds later he texted "OMG THANK YOU I LOVE YOU". I turned my phone off and I laid down in the bed and drifted off to sleep.
