All quiet on the field of love and war chap. 1
"Miss Wenelll, afternoon teeeeea," called a voice from outside the open door.
"Come in," answered a soft voice.
A handsome gray wolf entered the room. His fur was a dark, shiny gray and cut short. The fur on top of his head was a bit longer, and arched gracefully as it fell over his left eye. He had a line of white hair running down between his eyes down to his nose. His nose was solid black, which sparkled in the sun rays coming in from the window. His eyes were a bright amber, which stood out against his gray fur coat. His tail hung behind, almost touching the ground, and the tip of his tail was black.
He wore a well-taken care of butlers' suite: His pants were a fine, black silk, his cotton shirt starch white and the buttons gleaming like pearls. His wool overcoat was dark-blue, with ten dress buttons off-centered from the front. His shoes were black leather, held in place by a buckle and polished until they shone. In his right hand he carried a silver tray, which held two silver cups and a silver teapot adorned with an intricate design; next to it was a small bowl of sugar accompanied with a gold spoon.
He walked toward a beautiful wolf seated in a Chaise lounge, looking out the window onto the grounds. She wore a lavish gown of the color pink. White lace came out of each fold of the hoop skirt; the sleeves covered her arms entirely. The upper dress line was just above her cleavage, hiding it. Around her collar, light blue lace folded on itself around the neck. Her breasts were held up by her corset. Their size was so large that she had to get a custom dress, and when she went into town, she stayed in carriage most of the time so the men wouldn't gawk at her. To finish her outfit, a beautiful gold necklace with a sapphire sat neatly upon her breasts.
The only visible fur was on her face, which was a bright copper color. Her nose was the color of a rose. Her sky-blue eyes twinkled in light coming in from the window. Her muzzle was a bit longer then the average wolf, and her whiskers were well groomed. Each tip of her ears were snow white; the fur was slightly longer at the tip of her ears and the fur drooped down slightly into the curves of them. Her tail was almost as fluffy as a fox's but it still had the length and qualities of a wolf.
He walked over to her and placed the teapot, cups and sugar on the table next to her, leaning the platter on a table leg. He picked one of the cups, slowly poured the hot tea into it, then dropped in a small spoonful of sugar. He handed it to her.
"There you are Miss Wenel," the butler said. She smiled and took the cup from him, taking a small sip and continuing to look out the window. "Is anything wrong, miss?" he asked, concern playing across his face.
"Joseph, I asked you to call me by my real name," she said, a little laugh in voice.
"Sorry, Helen. So, is anything wrong?"
"It is really nothing. I've just noticed more troops coming to our property."
"Well, your father is the head of military," Joseph said, sitting on the chaise lounge to see the troops for himself.
"Something always is going bad when my father calls in troops to protect me and himself."
"You know I always stay up on the news all I can. And nothing is in papers. Not even the heralds in town are not saying thing bad is going on, except for the occasional robbery here or there."
"But I just have this feeling something terrible is going to happen."
"Don't you worry, Helen. I'll make sure nothing bad happens to you," Joseph said with a smile as he put his hand on her thigh. He quickly drew back, jerking his head to look out the window. Helen slipped off the glove of her right hand and reached over; with her claws, she started to massage his skin under the fur on his hand. Joseph have a low growl of pleasure as he felt her claws move along his skin, pushing his fur back and forth. She then moved his hand over to her dress.
"What are you afraid of Joseph?"
"I don't want anyone to see, that's all."
"We both love each other. That should overshadow everything."
"But if your father should catch us? He would send me away and I could never see you again."
"Why don't you be more manly? You where in the military for four years!"
"In the military, if you made a small mistake, you would have to run around till you couldn't breath. In battle, a small mistake could cost you a limb. But with you, one small slip-up and I will never see you again. You're the only woman I ever truly loved. I don't want to risk it."
"You're the only servant here. The rest are all downstairs getting ready for the big dinner for my father and his generals."
"But they could still..."
"Joseph."
Helen moved his hand up to her right breast. Joseph took in quick breath of surprise and tried pulled back, but she just held his hand against her right barest, making his fingers cup around it. "I...love you, Joseph. I want to FEEL your love. I don't want it cooped inside of us. I don't want it to destroy us."
"B-but Helen..." Joseph eyes started to flit between her eyes and his hand on her breast.
"Shhh." She pressed a finger to his muzzle. "I don't want to talk anymore." Helen took Joseph's hand off her breast and started to put it down her top. Joseph quickly pulled his hand out of her clutches.
"Helen, you know what our mother and father Gods said. You share flesh only the day your spirits become one," Joseph said hurriedly said, taking a handkerchief from an inside pocket of his blue dress coat and dabbed his face and muzzle.
"Are...are you saying you don't love me physically?" Helen's voice sounded hurt.
"What?! Are you crazy?! What do you think was going through my head when my hand was on your breast? I would make love to you in public to be with you. Any man can physically show his love to a women, but only a true gentleman will suppress his feelings of physical love till the day he has chosen to give his life to the women he truly loves. It takes commitment to do that, especially to the man who has wanted to be in bed with you for years."
Helen smiled when he finished and placed her hand on his cheek. "And that's why I love you," she said. "Not for your violin skills, your military training, or your ability to bake the most delicious pastries I have ever eaten. For your faith and devotion. Most men I meet just wanted to be in bed with me after they look at my body." Her hands went over her thin waist and up to her large breasts.
Joseph put his hand under her muzzle and stared into her sky-eyes. "That's because they don't look at you. They just look at what they want on you."
Helen put her hand back on his cheek. She brought their heads together until their noses touched; they wiggled their noses together until Joseph broke them apart.
"Well I better get to your father before he gets mad," Joseph said, picking up the platter and putting the pot, sugar and one of the cups back onto it.
"See you later, Joseph," Helen said with a smile, her tone almost seductive.
"Goodbye," Joseph said, blowing her a kiss as he left the room. He quickly walked up the other flight of stairs to the third floor library floor and stood at the door, knocking three times.
"Come in," said a deep, gruff voice. Joseph walked in and stood at attention.
"It's afternoon tea, sir," Joseph said in a monotone voice.
General Wenel look up from the table, a map spread out over it. He was a large wolf, around six foot five. His dark black fur was cut so short you could almost see his skin. He had blotches of light brown fur on his cheeks. His ears were short and croppe; he used to have a tail like his daughter, but had it amputated when bullets had mangled it. He had sky-blue eyes, like his daughter, and wore an officer's dress uniform: A dark blue wool turtle neck with one row of buttons to keep it closed and another to the left, just for show. A gold star was on each shoulder. Light-blue pants with a red and gold stripe going down each side covered his legs. He wore fancy boots, though they were a tad dusty from being outside.
"Good," he grunted. "Put it on the table next to leather chair by the window."
Joseph did was he was told, placing the teapot, cup and sugar on the table. He then walked over to the dumb-waiter, placing the platter inside and lowering it down. From there, he walked back over to the table, poured the tea, and dropped in two spoonfuls of sugar into it. With the tea ready, he stood at attention once more. The General wandered over to the chair after a moment, sitting down and taking a loud sip from the hot tea.
"I have good news and bad news, Sergeant Kevle."
"What is it, sir?" Joseph asked.
"I think I may have found a suitor my daughter will like."
"Really?" Joseph's heart sank and he struggled to keep his voice steady. "Who?"
"I'll give you a few hints: He used to be in the military. He is now a wonderful servant and makes the most delicious pastries I have ever eaten."
Joesph's heartbeat suddenly picked up and pounded in his chest. "H-how did you..."
"Sergeant Kevle, I always have someone looking out for my daughter," the General said with an amused smile. "You are truly a gentleman. You have excellent manners, you have strict military training which you still hold true to, you don't gawk at my daughter's figure, and you keep your member in your trousers. In my opinion you will make a fine suitor for my daughter, and I know that my daughter wants to be with you. I know she will say yes; and I can finally have some grandchildren."
"Thank you very much, sir" Joseph gave a small smile. "But what is the bad news?"
"Ah, yes...about that." He took another sip of tea, set it down, walked over to the map and motioned for him to come over. "The Geltians have invaded us again."
"Again?! Didn't they learn not to attack us six years ago?"
"Well, I guess they want to go to the underworld faster."
"So that's why you have called troops to your mansion. In case they head straight after you."
"Exactly. And, Joseph..." General Wenel turned to him "I want you to reenlist."
"Why, sir?"
"You are our best shot that I have ever seen. And I want to make you captain of our new sharp-shooter company. After you come back from war, you will have my full blessing to marry my daughter and have a wedding fit for a king. So, do I have the right to call you Captain?"
"Yes you do, sir."
General Wenel extended his hand and Joseph shook it. "Glad to see you fighting with us, Captain Kevle. I will have your uniform, equipment and roster of your new enlisted men to your room. You are dismissed."
"Yes, sir." Joseph saluted him, turned towards the door and walked out. Once he'd left the room and closed the door, he ran down the stairs to Helen's room. He stopped at the door and knocked. "Helen, are you decent?"
"No, but you may come in."
"Well, I..."
"I'm just joking around with you. I'm decent."
Joseph opened the door and saw she was right where he'd left her. "I've got bad news and good new," he said."
"What is it?"
"The Geltians have invaded us."
"Oh heavens..."
"And I have accepted a captains position from your father."
"NO!" Helen yelled. She ran from her chaise lounge into Joseph's arms, burying her face against his chest. "I don't want you to go! I don't want to lose you!"
"Ah, but the good news! When I come back, your father has given me his blessing to marry you."
She looked up at him, her jaws parted in amazement. "Really? Not a joke, is this?"
Joseph took his hand and brushed his fingers over her right ear. "Would I lie to you?"
Helen gave a small squeal of delight. Joseph picked her up and whirled her around, then placed her back down and gazed into her eyes for a long moment. After that moment, their muzzles met in a soft tender kiss. They held it for a few seconds before Joseph broke away. "Well, I have to do some chores, this is my last day as your servant."
"Oh, you'll be my servant in other ways soon," she said with a seductive smile.
Joseph blushed and gave an embarrassed smile, letting go. He placed a gentle kiss between her ears and left her room. As he walked down the hall to the kitchen, he struggled to hold back the feeling to jump in the air and howl.
