Through the Horizon: A New Threat

Bris this time, Bane's still working on getting internet.
Edit: Seamus here. Bane jumped the gun on this one.

Through the Horizon: A New Threat
Dasher awoke the next morning to the sound of moaning. He looked at the clock to see it was five in the morning. He grumbled,"What the hell are they doing at this time of the morning?" He opened the door of his bedroom to see Bane on top of Seamus, his cock knotted firmly into the fox's tail hole. Dasher placed his paw over his mouth to stifle a laugh, but was unable to.
Both Bane and Seamus looked at him and blushed deeply. Bane began to stammer out, "T-there is a,". He stopped and grunted as another wave of cum was released into Seamus, causing both of them to moan loudly with pleasure.
Dasher laughed and walked over to them. He picked up the now discarded blanket and gently placed it on top of the now locked together lovers. Dasher smiled and said,"I see you two got much closer in my mental absence."
Bane nodded and with a smile said,"I asked him to be my husband, and he accepted."
Seamus then spoke up to add,"And he fucked me!"
Dasher practically glowed with pride at the two. He knew each loved the other, but both were also a little shy. Another grunt brought him back to the moment and he told the pair of lovers,"I'll make us some coffee while you two finish up and relax."
Bane and Seamus nodded so Dasher turned and went into the kitchen portion of his quarters. Fifteen minutes later Dasher returned with three cups of coffee, to find the two had finished and were sitting on the sofa talking. He smiled as the smell of sex reached his nose, to which he said,"You two smell like you enjoyed yourselves." Both nodded agreement to the statement. Dasher smiled and handed them each a cup of coffee, then took a seat in a chair with his cup. "I want greatly to apologize to both of you for my conduct yesterday. Everything simply rushed back to me and it became too much. I also most humbly apologize to you Bane. I made love to and with your lover . . . It was wrong of me and I am most ashamed of myself.", Dasher lowered his ears as he got out this admission but Bane smiled brightly. The wolf told him, "Dasher, at the time he was not my lover. He was himself and free, so you had every right to him, just as he had the right to accept. Neither of you did anything wrong." Dasher's tail wagged a bit at this and Bane chuckled. It seemed he had kept a few canine traits, tail wagging one of them. Seamus thought it was adorable but wouldn't say as much, for fear of hurting the cheetah's feelings.
The three friends sat and talked. The conversation drifted from topic to topic until Seamus looked at a clock in the room. He stood up and stretched himself, then said,"Its getting near time for me to get to my station. I think I need a shower first though."
Bane smiled and picked the fox up with the words,"Then we shall have one my love." Dasher chuckled and offered the use of his shower. When they went into the bathroom, he replicated new uniforms for both of them. Ron had discovered that every high level apartment had a replicator in them. Dasher could only use it because Ron had ore-programmed some items into it. The fore thinking Engineer had foreseen the need for this and made sure that certain items could be called up on it.
Bane carried his foxy into the shower and the warm water automatically activated. It ran over their bodies, soaking their fur and causing the morning's musk and grime to run from their fur. Bane looked deeply into Seamus' eyes. Within them, he found the love he so desperately sought and needed. All of his pain, his loneliness, his sorrow . . . it all melted away. He leaned down and engaged Seamus in a passionate kiss. His tongue slipped inside the fox's maw, exploring the newly found playground.
Seamus ran his tongue against his wolfy's, causing a mutual moan to escape both of them. Bane gently parted the kiss and looked at his foxy, his love . . . his husband. He sat Seamus down and picked up some shampoo and a brush, that the shower was equipped with. He lathered up the fox and gently massaged the foam into his fur.
Bane ever so carefully groomed the fox in an intimate way. Seamus had never experienced anything like it. Bane took extra time to ensure the fox's body was as immaculate as he thought it should be, then did the same for himself.
Seamus kissed his wolfy mate and then just held onto him. A hole had been filled in the fox, one that he had never even realized was there. All he had ever wanted in life was to be loved and accepted, to know he really mattered to somebody. Now he had that love and acceptance and had never really expected to find it.
Both were smiling and glowing as they stepped out of the shower. Seamus picked up a towel and began to dry Bane off. He took extra care with the wolf's more intimate parts, to demonstrate his care for Bane, as well as to have a bit of fun. Bane chuckled and smiled down at his foxy lover. Dasher peeked in on them and smiled. He set down the newly replicated uniforms for them both, then crept back to the living room quietly. All now, was as it should be. Each had made the other, whole again. Hearts and souls, they were once again complete.
After both were well groomed and clothed, they emerged from the bathroom to find an overly amused cheetah. Dasher was sitting on the sofa with a wide grin on his face, reading a report off a data-pad. Dasher looked up and teased,"Well, I thought you two had decided to homestead my shower!"
He chuckled at his little joke and Bane replied,"I don't know about that but we did consider fucking you."
Dasher eyed them with amusement at this admission. Seamus laughed loudly as Dasher got up and the three friends walked out of the apartment together.
Ron met them at the door and smiled as he saw Bane, holding Seamus' paw. "I think I missed something.", said the amused fox.
"Yep!", reported an obviously happy Seamus and he added,"he asked me to marry him. I said yes, of course."
Ron smiled and hugged them both as he told them, "Congratulations!" Ron turned and wrapped his arms around Dasher, kissed the kitty on the cheek and asked,"And hows you doing, hun?"
Dasher chuckled and replied,"No worse for the wear."
The four laughed and walked to a restaurant to grab breakfast before their shifts started. Ron had already been to Seamus' place and Bane's, finding neither was home, so he assumed both were at Dasher's. This seemed to be a new beginning for the four friends. Bane was happier than Ron had seen him since before Scott's death, and Dasher had been returned to them. Indeed there was cause for celebration.
Lucian sat in his office in the command room of Accendo City. Since the initial battle, things had been mostly quiet. Due to the organization of the government of the empire, information was flowing into the city much more quickly than it initially had. There were daily reports from each planet that was a member of the empire.
Recently, several planets had gone dark and obviously, this was a concern. As the commander of the Capital of the Empire, it was his job to assess any potential threats and, if possible, deal with them. The planets affected had simply stopped reporting in. A ship had been sent to investigate, only to find that nothing was left. The planets had been stripped to a lifeless, dead rock. Initially he had thought the wolf empire was behind it, however the firepower it would take to accomplish this task was more than they had ever possessed.
It was very frightening to everybody who knew about it and what was more unnerving, was that their planet seemed to be next on the list. Whatever or whoever was doing it, had gone in a pattern and their planet was next.
Several ships were monitoring the space surrounding the planet and thus far, nothing had been identified as a threat. It was damn odd to the dragon. Civilizations do not simply vanish. Furthermore, planets don't simply become barren rocks either. He had informed Bane of this potential issue, however the wolf had other matters to attend to. He had ordered Lucian to monitor the situation and let him know of any new developments.
As he was pondering on the issue, a red alert sounded though out the city. Lucian ran out of his office and into the command room, hollering,"Report!"
A young wolf approached him, saluted and said,"Sir! An armada of ships has been spotted approaching our planet. All attempts to contact them have failed. Furthermore, they fired on the ships that attempted to stop them. There were no survivors."
Lucian looked around and made a decision. He ordered,"Evacuate the space port into the city and then raise its shields. Once everybody is inside, send us to battle ready status." The control room scrambled with activity.
Bane ran into the room followed by Dasher and said,"Report!"
Lucian turned to face his commanding officer and responded,"Sir, we have a group of ships approaching the planet. They refuse to communicate and all ships attempting to contact or stop them have been destroyed."
Bane nodded and growled,"Then we can obviously assume they are hostile." Bane made his way to the command chair and took a seat.
Lucian followed him and asked,"Sir, as the emperor, shouldn't you evacuate until the situation is dealt with?"
Bane shook his head and said,"Lucian, I don't run from any situation, regardless of the looks of it and neither does this empire. No longer will I allow us to be pushed around. We have to draw a line somewhere and here seems a damn good place to put it."
As Bane turned to ask for a status, Ron ran into the room and approached Bane as he said,"I hear we have some bad guys knocking on the front door?"
Bane nodded and said grimly,"It would seem that way Ron."
The fox smiled and made his way to the defense station. He took a seat and told his commanding officer and friend,"Then I think this might help." His paws danced across the control board as the screen lit up. Suddenly, a blank panel came to life as planetary defense drones were released from a hatch outside the city. Ron turned to look at Bane as he reported,"I had a idea that a system like this was in the city but it took me a while to find it. Luckily, I have been able to locate it."
Ron stepped to the new control station and punched in some commands as he told Bane,"I'm accessing the recent data added to the city, by both us and it's own external scanners. I have instructed the artificial intelligence in the city's mainframe, to prioritize targets and fire at will once you have given the command to fire. Oh by the way, the drones have antimatter cannons, so it should be quite a blast."
Bane nodded and gave a slight smile as he told Ron,"I'm impressed."
Ron laughed and said happily,"You haven't seen anything yet." He pushed another button and brought an external view of the situation up on the central monitor in the room.
All could see the ships now and they were not anything anybody had ever encountered. They looked as if they were made up of scrapped together hulks of older ship components. Yet they were much more powerful than they seemed. To look upon them, one would assume they could barely hold atmosphere. The captains of the dead ships had made that mistake and paid dearly for it. However what could not be seen, were the internal workings of the ships.
Though the outside was very crude, the internal sections of the ships had the most advanced technology of every race that the newly arrived group had encountered. In fact, they had collected the ships and assembled them together. After they had taken all that was available and of use to them from the planet, they would destroy it so that no others could have the technology.
Ron's paws danced across the control station once more as he said,"When the red alert went off, I did a search based on the images of the ships I was receiving. From what the city records say, there is no official name recognized for this race. They are scavengers, taking whatever they can from a planet and then destroy it."
Bane looked stunned at Ron's analysis and asked,"You learned all of that from a visual search of the city records?"
Ron chuckled and told Bane,"No, I learned that from Hugo, the city's AI. He is still active you know?"
Bane indeed didn't know but it would explain why the fox suddenly knew so much of the city's defense systems.
The scavenger's ships arrived, entering into a low orbit around the planet and began scanning. Ron announced,"They will scan for any advanced civilizations. They will find the city, as their scanners are more sensitive than any we have ever encountered." Indeed, Ron's' predictions held truth.
"Sir,", reported the city communications officer,"we are receiving a transmission from the command ship."
Bane sighed and muttered,"This won't end well. Put it on the main viewer."
Instead of seeing any images or forms, only a voice came though. The seemingly artificial voice announced,"We are the race known as Scavengers. You will surrender to us at once." With that, the transmission ended.
"Short and to the point aren't they?", commented Lucian.
Bane nodded then asked,"Ron, how powerful are those drones?"
Ron walked over to the city's scanner hub and looked at the readouts from the ships. He told Bane, "According to what I see here, they have shields far more powerful than our own. I think the cannons on the drones should be sufficient to drive them off. Granted, that's assuming they aren't the type to want to die fighting rather than run."
Bane nodded and said,"Its our best bet though. Prepare them for attack. Alert all teams that we may have battle damage soon."
Ron nodded and with that, gave the command for the drones to begin their attack. They powered up and concentrated their fire on the command ship. The cannons fired and impacted the ship's shields. Although Ron monitored a minor drop in the shields output level, there was no obvious effect of the attack in damage to the alien ships.
The weapons of the armada powered up and targeted the space port. With a single concentrated blast, the entire area was leveled. All who watched from the command room were in awe at the destructive power of these new-found enemies. Lucian looked at Bane and suggested,"Sir, I highly advice you to evacuate."
Bane growled with anger and answered,"I am not going anywhere! Ron, have the drones keep the armada busy. Comm officer, send out a distress signal to our entire fleet. Recall everybody here as soon as they can make it. If this city falls, then the empire is dead." The room once again came alive with activity.
Dasher tapped Bane on the shoulder and said,"Bane you know Lucian is right, you need to leave."
Bane chuckled as he answered,"I know Dash but I can't stomach the thought of running from a fight." Dasher nodded, he had expected that reaction from the wolf. Bane was a noble individual and refused to put those under his command in any situation he was not ready and willing to be in himself.
"Lucian,", said Bane, "get Devin up here as soon as you can. Maybe he holds a few answers that can help us." The dragon acknowledged the instructions he had been give and summoned the former wolf Captain.
One by one, the drones were destroyed by the armada. They had managed to keep the ships semi busy but they were outnumbered and out-powered. There were simply more ships to take out than the city had the fire power for. The destruction of the space port had been the first target and with only a few drones left, the command ship turned its attention to the city and fired upon its location.
The water helped lessen the effect of the blast but it still rocked the city, causing only minor damage. The impact of the blast upon the shields, sent shock-waves though the city, cracking walkways and breaking apart water tight windows.
Bane monitored the status of the city from his chair and turned to address Lucian, "Lucian, lock down the city and seal all airlocks. Lets make sure we don't turn into a aquarium. Place all repair drones and crews on standby and prioritize damage control."
Lucian nodded and set to work carrying out the instructions he had been given. Ron ran from station to station in an attempt to keep the city's defenses running. As the last of the drones were destroyed, he approached the defense panel once more and typed in new commands. He then turned to address Bane,"Bane, the city is also equipped with high powered cannons located in key positions along the ocean floor. I didn't mention it before because they haven't been repaired fully yet by the drones or my teams. I don't know what effect firing them will have on the city. We may start shorting out as the power is drawn from the cities electrical grid. But its all I have left to suggest we try."
Bane nodded and told Ron,"I understand Ron. Give them all we've got."
Ron nodded his understanding and added,"I am going to bring them online and try to defend us to the best of our ability but Bane, you should know that they will be no more effective than the drones were. At best, we can keep them at bay for a few hours. At the worst, they will take out the cannons as soon as we fire them. In either case, they will be really pissed the hell off and we will die a few moments later. We cannot win this."
Bane nodded his understanding of the situation and said,"Ron we cannot win but we can buy some time. We have sent out a distress signal and everybody who gets it will come. Even if they are from the wolf empire, they will defend us simply to capture the city for themselves. Do the best you can Ron."
Ron nodded that he would give the cannons all the power he could spare and let them have it. Ron activated the communication system and contacted the engineering section of the city. He called out over the communication link,"Engineering this is Ron, come in."
A voice responded,"Ron this is Sebastian, what can I do for you?"
Ron said back,"I am about to power up the defense cannons. You need to be prepared because I don't know what this is going to do."
There was a pause and Sebastian responded,"Yes sir, I'll have all teams prepared and the force-fields on standby."
With that Ron shut off the system and turned to face Bane. The attackers fired yet another volley at the city, and the shields once again held. Ron told his commander, "Bane, I'm as ready as I'm going to be. Sebastian is prepared and he is as good as I ever thought about being."
Bane nodded in acknowledgment. He had questions about this individual but there were still many people he didn't know. Now was not the time to question Ron's judgment tho and so Bane said,"Ron, power up the system and give them hell."
Ron nodded and powered up the system, then fired the initial round of shots. He once again targeted the command ship and this time the shield power dropped by half. The fox smiled and fired another volley of rounds. This time the shields dropped, leaving the ship vulnerable. Ron opened fire once again, the rounds impacting the hull and large sections of the ship were opened to space. The ship remained mostly intact. Power was lost to several key systems but overall, the ship remained functional.
It was not the perfect result but it did cause the remaining ships to back off, away from the planet. Ron reported,"Bane, I cannot find a central reactor!" This was a problem as the shots could not destroy the ship completely and power was still running to the weapons. The weakened command ship fired a volley of shots in an attempt to destroy the cannons but due to the damage it had received, all shots missed their desired targets.
Ron once again consulted the scans of the ship but the power grid seemed to be only a tangle of power conduits. There was no detectable organization to it. The comm channel lit up, it was Sebastian who reported,"Ron, I've got circuits overloading all over the place down here. My team and the drones are doing all they can but we cannot keep this up. I can give you one, maybe two more rounds from the cannons, then we have to shut down or risk the overloads hitting the main reactors!"
In the background, all on the command deck could hear the pops and explosions of the circuits expressing their dislike of the amount of power being pulled though them. Ron ran to the diagnostic panel to check the situation for himself and he shook his head. "Bane, I can fire one or two more times but I cannot destroy them all. The cannons are unstable and are sending feedback into the power grid. It was not designed for this!", Ron told the wolf.
The remaining ships once again moved back into position and opened fire upon the city. Alarms sounded as once again, the city was rocked by the blasts. Shield power dropped by almost half this time. "Bane,", reported Lucian,"several area's of the city have began taking on water."
"Evacuate the damaged area's and seal them off.", Bane ordered and Lucian nodded as Devin walked into the control room.
"Reporting as ordered sir!", the young wolf said and stood at attention in respect for his commanding officer.
"Devin, have you ever seen anything like this?", Bane asked as he pointed at the main display, which showed the images of the attacking ships.
Devin shook his head and replied,"No sir, I have not."
Bane cursed under his breath. Devin approached the scanner control station and studied the readouts of the ships. It was nothing he had ever seen before and as he was doing this the communication officer spoke up,"Bane, we have an incoming transmission from an unknown source."
Bane nodded and ordered,"Put it up." As soon as he did so, the screen light up with the image of a black wolf with a scar on his left eye.
"Bane Accendo, my name is Joshua Shadowwalker. I have received your distress call. How may I be of assistance?", came from the wolf om the screen.
Bane was very relieved to have help and answered,"As you can see, our planet is under attack from an unknown enemy that has only identified themselves as the Scavengers. They have destroyed our space port and our city is now being fired upon. We have managed to hold them at bay, however we have taken much damage and have very limited use of our cannons. Any assistance you are able to give will be appreciated."
Joshua nodded and said,"I'll see what I can do." As the transmission ended, Josh powered up his main cannon and let lose with it. The beam blew clean though the command ship, severing several key power generators. The resulting explosions tore the ship apart. The remaining ships broke off their attack on the city and turned their attention to the new ship. As they did, five more ships uncloaked behind Joshua and opened fire. The resulting battle ended with the loss of five of the Scavenger attack ships. The scavengers broke orbit and entered high warp, fleeing the planet.
Bane sat in his command chair in awe at what had just taken place. Once again, Joshua contacted the city and said,"Bane, I have taken out several of the ships. The debris is floating in orbit. I will have my crew examine it and see if I can find out who they are and why they were here."
Bane nodded and said gratefully,"Thank you, Captain. I don't know how we will repay you." It was not often the wolf found his life in debt to a complete stranger and he wasn't sure how to react about it.
Joshua smiled and said,"We were on our way to contact you anyway. We picked up your signal and increased our speed."
Bane nodded and said,"We are glad you did. The attackers identified themselves as the Scavengers. We think they are responsible for the destruction of several empire controlled planets".
Joshua nodded and grimly said,"We had heard rumors of the destruction of those planets. We will examine the remains of the ship and get back with you. Shadowwalker out."
Bane got up and stretched his body, then said quietly,"One of these days we are going to get our asses kicked and nobody will be there to help us."
Dasher looked at him and said back,"Maybe my friend but not today."
Ron was walking around the control room assessing the damage to the city. Bane walked over to him and asked,"Ron, how bad is it?"
Ron looked up and bit his lower lip, then answered,"I am not sure yet. Give me an hour to get my bearings and I'll give you an update. Until then, each building has to remain locked down. The city's sensors are not functioning correctly. Unlocking any airlock may result in half the city being flooded."
Bane nodded and told Lucian,"Keep the lock-down in place, nobody leaves their stations." Getting an acknowledgment from the dragon, Bane looked back at Ron.
Ron looked at a panel then addressed Bane again,"There's more. The teleporters are also down. The city's power grid is shot to hell. We have entire sections that are down."
Bane nodded and patted his friend's shoulder as he said,"Do what you can Ron." With that, Bane walked to his office, followed by Dasher. The office was fully powered. Hugo had seen to it that it was powered by an independent power supply. Bane sat at his desk and rested his head upon it. So much had happened so quickly.
Dasher walked up behind Bane's chair and began massaging his shoulders for a few minutes. Seeing that it had only a minimal effect in easing Bane's tension, Dasher embraced his friend. Bane was a strong individual but he didn't deal with stress too well. The leadership of the empire had taken it out of him but this battle, almost losing the city, had nearly drained him. Pulling up a chair beside Bane's, Dasher sat and put his arms around his friend. The two sat and held each other, both exhausted and both needing the other. It wasn't much but it was what they both needed at that moment.
Ron walked from station to station in the command room. Ideally, he would have liked to be in the engineering section. Right now, it was inaccessible. Even if it had been accessible, it was unclear how much of the section was in once piece. The situation was bad and it was made worse by the fact that the internal sensors were down. The drones had no guidance and as a result were working on any damage in the sections they were in.
This resulted in the restoration of power to damaged conduits and as a result, even more damage occurred. Instead of restoring the city, they were destroying it. He took a deep sigh and walked to Bane's office. As he entered, he saw Bane and Dasher asleep and holding each other on a sofa. He smiled and Bane woke and looked up at him.
Bane got up carefully, so as to not wake the sleeping cheetah. Bane walked to his desk and sat down, Ron sat in a chair facing him. Bane asked quietly,"Well, how bad is it Ron?"
Ron shook his head and said,"We are leaking all over the place and power is barely getting anywhere. The drones are working blind and as a result, causing more damage than they are fixing. We have many wounded but cannot get them to Seamus. He is okay by the way. The hospital was banged up a bit but is in good shape otherwise."
Bane nodded, and Ron continued,"Sabastian is working hard to get things back in order. We should have teleporters operational within the hour. That will make things better. We think many of the systems that are down, are only down because of damaged control systems. We are trying to get to the route to the main computer core secured but the base of the tower took some damage from falling walkways. The core is flooded, which is probably the reason the control systems are down."
Bane nodded and said,"Do the best you can Ron. By the way, who is this Sebastian?"
Ron smiled and said with glee,"His last name is Accendo!"
Bane sat in shock over the words Ron had just said. Bane finally got out,"H....he is an Accendo?"
Ron nodded and said,"Yep! He is one of the last of his family. His family was on a planet that was destroyed by the wolf empire.
Bane was in shock. He blinked and said,"He's a fox! . . . I am a wolf. He cannot be an Accendo."
Ron laughed loudly and said,"Yes he can. You are a Folf, not a wolf."
Bane shook his head, took a deep breath and said,"If this keeps on, I'm going to start drinking."
Ron laughed again, got up and walked out of the room. Bane sat and thought on what he had been told. Sebastian was his ancestor and he was a folf? Granted, it would explain his sex drive. He sat and chuckled to himself. This would make life very interesting from this point forward.
