Summer with Leomon: A New Friend
#1 of Summer with Leomon
Ben was a lonely kid, until right when school was about to end, he gets his own digimon. This Summer's sure to be an interesting one.
Okay, let's get this out of the way. I didn't make up Digimon or Leomon, but I did create the character Ben and a few others. I hope you all enjoy this first chapter.
Please review after finished reading.

"Ben! Get in here!" Ben sighed knowing this was coming. He walked in the room to find his mother talking on the phone with his science teacher Mr. Callaway. She knew she was being informed of what he did which was calling Mr. Callaway an asshole, then getting after school detention, then not showing his mom the note about it and skipping it. He knew he was doomed and that there was no escape with sweet talk.
"Thank you for telling me Mr. Callaway and I'm so sorry again". She hung up the phone and turned to her son. "What do you have to say for yourself huh?! You called your teacher an asshole and skipped after school detention!" her face was literally turning red.
"Mom I..." he started to plea.
"Go to your room!" she yelled.
Ben cursed under his breath and stomped to his room. He sat in their alone for 30 minutes thinking about how hard the next couple of weeks would be. Then his mom walked in. This time she looked somewhat calm and she sat down beside Ben on his bed.
She put her arm around him, "Honey, you do realize what must happen now after what you did?" Ben only nodded, he knew what was coming. "You must never ever do this again you hear me, it's disrespectful and you tried to escape the punishment, your grounded from TV for three weeks".
Ben felt like screaming and shouting but he stayed quiet. He knew this was going to happen and that there was no way out of it. Then his mother said something that burned into his heart.
"You acted just like your father, Ben" she said.
Ben's mother had said that to him countless times. She was the one who divorced his father because she didn't love him. She hated what type of person he was. Since his mother saw so much of his father in him apparently Ben wondered if she loved him at all. He felt for a long time that his mother wished she had made him live with his father. This really depressed him.
Ben also got depressed about school. He never really fitted in; he was always so strange to people who ever got to know him. He isn't really distant because he always tries to seek a friend out. People just don't seem to like him.
The only reason Ben could think why people didn't like him is because he was gay. He guessed that everyone who has met him could somehow tell and he guessed that most people would hate him more if he came out. A lot of kids at school make fun of the kids they consider in their own stupid minds to be gay. "Fuck them", Ben thought. Besides that, Ben wasn't like other kids because he liked more interesting things.
He liked interesting movies, books, and music. People thought he was weird because he liked what they called "boring adult stuff" and if they ever saw a classic thing such as an old movie, they would talk about how cheesy and old it was and not recognize the art of it. This really pissed Ben off.
Ben's mother told him that he was going to have after school detention all week. He had never had after school detention actually and was hoping it wouldn't be as bad as he thought it would. It was... at least for Ben. On the first day all the other kids there had a friend to whisper to. Ben did not so he sat in the corner and just read his novel. It was a book by Stephen King called "On Writing", it greatly fascinated him.
The next day was the same get up for school, then get ready, get a lecture from his mother about being good then go to school. This was his last year in junior high and he couldn't wait to go to high school.
Finally the day was over and Ben could just go to Room 21B and sit quietly to read. Though, during detention some chick thought it would be funny to call him an ugly shit head. The girl herself was real ugly, some blonde chick with bright pink highlights and a face that looked like a plastic Barbie. She wore way too much makeup.
After his detention he went home and just went to the bathroom trying to ignore his mother. He looked in his bathroom mirror to see himself. He wasn't really ugly. He had brunette hair with pretty long bangs, tanned skin, and nice dark eyes. "I'm not so unattractive" he thought. He had a decent body. Ben just forgot about it and went on with his day.
Having no TV was a bit hard. Ben loved to watch movies and today was Tuesday which was the day his favorite TV show played. Ben took pleasure in reading his book, riding his bike, or surfing the web. Sometimes Ben would write short stories about monsters or depressed teens.
The next day in detention was horrible for one reason, some jackass kid threw Ben's book out the window. The teacher wouldn't let him go get it and when detention was over the book was no longer where it landed. Ben asked his mother for another one, but she said this will add to my punishment. "WHAT!" he said. His mother scowled at him and he knew to back off and accept it.
The next day at school was pretty interesting. Everyone seemed to forget Ben was even at school. No one paid attention to him and so Ben could be in peace. It was great and detention was good too. The teacher had actually brought her own copy of "On Writing" and let him borrow it. No one messed with him at all.
Then something very strange happened. Ben was the last kid to leave the class after detention, so he was all alone in the hall. As he passed the computer classroom, he noticed one of the screens was going on and off.
He went over to see what was going on. On the screen were numbers and letters and he guessed the computer might be crashing. He shut it off and began to walk away when all the sudden it came back on. He turned confused and pressed the power button continuously. It wouldn't shut off and then all the sudden a strange little watch type thing literally came out of the screen. The computer suddenly shut off leaving the thing behind.
"What the crap?" Ben only stared at it for awhile then finally reached out and touched it.
It didn't have an electric shock or anything so he picked it up. It had the colors red, white, and a few light grays. There was a screen in the middle and some buttons. Ben pressed one of them and a few more numbers appeared on the screen. Then a little lion looking thing appeared on the screen.
It looked like something from an old arcade game. It seemed to be just dancing around. Before Ben could inspect it more he heard the teacher coming and shoved it in his pocket and ran on home.
When he got in his bedroom he took it out of his pocket and fiddled with it for awhile. It didn't seem to do anything besides show the little dancing lion or flashing numbers. He finally decided it was pointless and put it in his desk drawer. The rest of the day was spent on the net until he went to sleep at 10:00.
The next day was basically back to normal. Then weeks passed and the eighth grade seemed to pass on by. It was coming up to finals and Ben was really worried. He really didn't need to be though. He passed every test with either a high or low grade. When he told his mom this she was proud and took him out to eat somewhere fancy.
Two days until school lets out. Ben felt like rejoicing but he still needed to slug it through two more days. The day before the last day of school was okay. Everyone was busy thinking about summer vacation to even notice him. This allowed him to think of his own summer. His mother couldn't afford to take him on vacation somewhere far. She said that they'll probably go to the beach sometime.
Ben was in his room staring out the window thinking how the next day of school would be his last in eighth grade. Then all the sudden a blinking light came from his closet. He was a little scared to go see what it was at first, but soon after he went and grabbed the handle and opened the door.
He fell back in shock to see a big lion man standing in front of him. He wanted to scream but couldn't get out the breath. He scooted back and the beast slowly walked up closer and closer to him. The thing was much taller than he was and it had claws that could thrash him. Ben backed up into a corner and was stuck as the monster continued to approach him. Ben covered his face with his arms and waited for his fate.
Then he felt something smooth, like fur, caress his arm. He lowered his arms and the lion man was actually trying to comfort him.
"It's all right little one, I'm not going to hurt you" it said. Ben slowly stood up and remembered the dancing lion on that thing that came out of the computer.
"Uh, what are you?" he asked.
The lion man smiled and said, "I'm a digimon from the digital world" Ben felt like he was going to faint. "My name's Leomon, what's yours?" it asked.
"My names Ben" he replied. Then all the sudden he was embraced with a hug. After that Ben got a better look at the beast. It was the same color as any lion and had a face like one with sparkling blue eyes, but it was built like a man with strong muscles and was at least between 7 and 8 feet tall. Not only that but he was wearing blue jeans and he carried a sword!
"You are my tamer Ben" Leomon said.
"What's that?" he asked.
"You are the one I shall serve and protect" Leomon said.
Ben was astonished. "Wow, my own digimon", he thought. Then the small device popped back into his head. He went to his desk and grabbed it out from under his stuff in the drawer. "Hey, do know what this is?"
Leomon quickly answered, "Oh, it's a digivice" Ben was still confused.
"What does it do?" he asked.
Leomon shrugged. "I don't know exactly, I do know it's given to every tamer".
Ben looked at the digivice and slid it in his pocket. "So are you going to live with me?" he asked.
Leomon now looked confused. "Well, I supposed so, is there something wrong with that?"
"You can't, if my mom found you then something bad would happen!" Leomon looked very confused now and even a little let down.
"Where shall I stay then?"
Ben began to think and got the perfect idea. Nearby there was an old abandoned subway tunnel that would be perfect. Ben knew his mother was out shopping and he took Leomon out a secret back way from his house. Ben knew his mother was out shopping and he took Leomon out a secret back way from his house. They went down alleys and raced across a small stream until they finally came to the entrance of the tunnel. They went down the dark pathways until they came to a more open area where Leomon would stay.
"Alright, I have to go home now, I promise to see you tomorrow" Ben said.
As he turned away Leomon grabbed his shoulder. "Why can't you stay with me?" he asked.
Ben looked away. "Well I have to go somewhere tomorrow and then I'll see you, and if you see someone then hide the best you can" after Ben said that, he loosened himself from Leomon's grip.
He walked away and turned back to wave. Leomon waved back. Ben ran home with a lot of excitement about his new friend. When he got home his mother was waiting for him. After a lecture about not coming home so late (she didn't even bother to ask where he was) she sent him to bed. The next day was the last day of school and then Ben could spend his summer with Leomon.
The next day of school was exciting. Ben couldn't wait to see Leomon and eagerly waited for school to be over. It ended early since it was the last day of school. As he left he noticed some kids talking about a certain subject that peeked Ben's interest.
"Hey didn't you hear like some type of roaring last night?" one kid said.
"Yeah I did" another replied.
Ben's heart started pumping really fast and he began to run to see Leomon.
He tripped and got a small scar on his leg that was bleeding pretty badly, but he just had to get to Leomon. When he got there he saw Leomon lying on his side sleeping. "Leomon!" Ben shouted. Leomon quickly got up and smiled at his tamer. "You have to keep it down at night buddy"
Leomon now looked at him sadly. "I'm sorry Ben" he said.
Ben sighed and went to sit by him. "I know, you're a lion so I guess you're used to being able to roar".
Then Leomon smelled the scent of blood. "Are you alright Ben?" he asked.
Ben sighed and said, "Yeah, I just got a cut on my leg" Ben showed him the bleeding cut and Leomon gasped. He got down on his knees and licked Ben's wound. "Hey, what are you doing?!" Ben asked. Leomon didn't listen and continued nursing Ben's cut. His smooth and warm tongue felt really nice on Ben's wound. The bleeding stopped and Leomon stopped licking. "Thanks, I feel much better" Ben said as he scratched Leomon's head. Leomon let out a lion type of purr.
"Hey, can you show me your sword?" Ben asked. Leomon nodded and went to a corner where he laid his sword. Pulling it out of its sheath Ben examined it. It was a beautiful weapon. It's nice smooth color and it looked somehow very strong. It was big and bold.
Leomon slid it back into the sheath and put it back away.
The next few days were mostly spent talking about interest that both of them had. Leomon loved to hunt and fight battles. This greatly intrigued Ben. Then Ben told him all about the classics he likes and the art of them. Leomon seemed to somehow perfectly understand how he felt. Ben loved his new digimon.
Then one day Ben asked, "Will you tell me about where you came from? You know, the digitalworld"
Leomon smiled and looked down at his tamer. "Well, I lived in a beautiful area of the land. It was a lush green valley where I could hunt both small and big game. It was great just to lie down on the grass and stare at the clouds." Ben sighed and wished he could live there instead of in the city.
Then Ben asked, "Did you have any friends?"
Leomon sighed. "Not really, I am a predator and I'm so big, so most digimon are intimidated by me"
Ben now felt even closer to Leomon. "I don't really have any friends either, I'm just too different" Leomon smiled at him and pulled him close to his side.
"I'm your friend Ben, and I always will be" Leomon said.
"Thanks".
Ben went home and surprisingly his mother was there and not at work. He went and sat with her at the dinner table. "So where have you been?" she asked.
Ben was silent for a little then said: "At the park, I fell asleep while looking at the clouds" he lied. He didn't think she would believe him... but she actually did.
"Sounds nice, my boss let me off from work early today" she said. "Do you want to go to the movies with me tonight, it could be a little date" she giggled. Ben at first thought against it but in this time he decided he should go with her.
They saw a dramatic comedy that was pretty good. They discussed there thoughts about it as they went back home and Ben actually had fun with his mom that night. Then he thought, "I should show Leomon some of my favorite movies someday". The thought slipped when he realized it would be really difficult to do that.
As Ben lied in his bed that night he thought of all the great days him and Leomon would spend together. He fell asleep real peacefully.
