Chapter Three:
Training day!
Spyro and Cynder led Crimson through the temple to a old empty room. Crimson rushed into the room and stared at the wooden splinters near the walls. His eye continued to scan the room until he saw a small bed. He ran up and flopped down onto the bed. "I sorry, most of the rooms are still being repaired," Spyro said, "much of inner temple was still in rubble from the attempted 'great cleansing'."
Crimson lower his head. "It's great," he sighed as he driffed to sleep. Cynder nudged Spyro and signaled for them to leave. They walked off with their tails intertwined. Unbeknownst to the dragons, the shadows began reach out at the sleeping dragon. He winced as they shrouded him in darkness then fell into a deeper slumber.
Crimson found himself in darkness. He was very frightened but something about this place seemed so familar. A huge hairy creature with sharp but broken nails, wearing a faded dark blue cape and rusted brass boots stepped into sight. Crimson remembered the creature from his memories. "My little Crimson, my perfect specimen... Why did you leave me?... Where did you go?... Come back to me," the creature rasped gently. Crimson couldn't understand why he was so terrified of the sweet creature. Its eyes stared sadly and coldly at the dragon. "Come back to me..." It repeated as Crimson stepped back. He shook his head, trying to clear his mind. "Come back to me..." It slowly rased its bony hand. "Come back to me..." Crimson couldn't take it anymore. His head was pounding and he coundn't think straight. "NO...n-no," he screamed. The creature began to fade into the shadows, leaving the young dragon alone. "Come back to me..."
"No," Crimson yelled, gasping for breath. He waited for his breathing to slow down before he looked around the room. He was buried in wood splinters. He sighed, stood up, and shook himself off before walking around the splinters and out of the room. The hallway was lit in a golden hue from the morning sun. He wondered how Cynder was doing. As he walked past a room, he saw Spyro and Cynder sleeping together peacefully. Spyro's wing was drapped over Cynder and their tails were intertwined. Crimson smiled before continuing to the dojo.
Crimson practiced using his fireball until he saw Volteer sleepily walk into the room. "Go morning, master Volteer," he said walking up to the guardian.
Volteer chuckled and said, "No need for formality. Just refer to me as Volteer." The two dragons waited in silence for the other guardians. The sun broke from the horizon when the other guardians arived accompanied by Spyro and Cynder. Terrador released a huge yawn before walking over to Volteer.
"Are you ready to begin, young one?" he said as Cyril walked to join them. Crimson nodded eagerly. The guardians smiled. "Then lets start. Close you eyes. Focus on your breathing. Let your mind drift and your instincts take over." Crimson slowly closed his eyes as his breathing slowed to a crawl. All seemed to be going well until he flinched and his body began to convulse.
"Relax little one. Let whatever happens happen," Cyril said. Crimson stopped convlsing as his head dropped. His body began to glow bright red then shift to a bright green then to a bright blue. The chains appeared as the color changed to a dull yellow. The color became a black glow before a blinding white light flashed and disappeared as Crimson's eyes shot open. He gasped as his head rose. His mask cracked then fell apart into white sand. A purple spot surrounded his right eye. It extended up to the bace of right horn, turning a small part of his horn gold, and curved down around his cheek. This spot was the same color as Spyro's scales. Everyone was in shock of what just happened but before anyone could speak, an alarm went off.
Terrador turned back toward the enterance and yelled, "The temple is under attack!"
