The sounds of footsteps grew louder as I grabbed Luke's Wrist and ran up the stairs there wasn't much else I could do then buy time by hiding on the roof. We climbed 10 floors and reached the roof forcing the door open against the wind as if it were a shield blocking an attack from arrows. I door Slammed shut, the roof had brown grit on the top and little walling so you could easily fall off if you slipped.
"WHAT NOW!?" Luke yelled over the wind
"WE JUMP" I yelled back
"Did you say jump!?"
The wind howled as we approached the edge
"After you!" he said
I ran to the other side of the roof and got on all fours and like mad dashed for the spot where I was once standing and jumped landing on the building Next to where I lived
"COME ON" I yelled back
And he did the same but as he jumped from the building there was a gunshot and Luke started to fall. I grabbed his arm and held on.
"Lazzx, I'm slipping" he said
"After all this, I'm not letting you go" I yelled
"Let me die you can go and survive" he said
"I'm not leaving you it might have been only an hour but I love you" I yelled
"I love you to" He said as I began to pull him up and then I tossed him on to my back
"Hold on" I yelled
I picked up some speed and ran down the stairs of the building to the ground floor, it was useless running across the roofs in his state, and he had a bullet in his foreleg. I reached the ground floor to find everyone surrounding the building where I lived. I ran out the door and down the road there was a perfect distraction and I didn't want to lose it.
"We need some wheels" I panicky searched
Someone had left their car open to see what the panic was about.
"Perfect!" I yelled as I placed Luke in the back seat and hooped in the front to find the keys weren't their
"Crap" I said as I popped the hood searching for a part my uncle had shown me that was like a turn on override, I couldn't find it in this model but suddenly the Holden V8 roared to life and I shut the hood
I returned to the driver seat to find Luke had re routed the fuse box from within the car.
"How did ya do that?" I asked
"When you live like how I did, you need to know these things" he smugly replied
I closed the door and Put the pedal to the metal to find all the street lights were blacked out which ment the security cam would have died too.
I found a mask in glove box two of them one white and one black and placed the black on me and the white one on Luke to keep bounties from getting on our heads.
I speed corner after corner it was like a mad house there was nearly no visibility, Suddenly 2 black shadows appeared either side of the Holden V8 they bumped into us.
"Fuck not now", I turned a corner and went through an Ally way the turn casing Luke to fall off the chair. That's when I saw it a small rebellion of fur's, I stopped the car suddenly in the narrow passage as Luke and I got out and ran the mask seemed to belong to the hunters and so I used it to communicate with the rebellion on a closed channel. I could see from the numbers that they would be out matched and I decided to interfere and keep their lives from Vanishing
"Hello" I spoke with a false confidence
"Who is this, how did you get this channel" yelled a male voice
"Everything will be explained soon but for now do as I say and you can live" I replied
There was a silence for a moment and I found that the mask had a digitalized map
"What do you want us to do?" said another voice this once female
I looked at the map both of their positions were shown, I began to think this helmet was made to scope out the enemies without them knowing. Then I walked up to the roof of a nearby building
"I want you to send 4 men to the other side of the ally and 6 into the buildings on either side
There movement was detected by the mask it was like a game of chess and whoever the enemy was they seemed to know chess manoeuvres.
"Ok, man I was talking to you'll be known as Y2, move in and fire at the car ahead of you" I spoke
"Gotcha" he replied the cool brisk wind sending a chill down my spine
"The female I was talking to, you'll be known as C4" I said pompously
"I have a name you" her voice sounding a bit ticked off
"I know but I don't have time to get acquainted so get ready you enemies are approaching from the east" I snapped back the growl more promenade through the mask.
The vehicles approached
"C4, Fire!" I yelled
"Right, you hear him Fire!" C4 spoke back with authority
Various yes's and confirmations came over the communicators
The cars swiveled and swayed closer to the parked car as the gun shots were fired
"Y2 Blast the car in front of you" I yelled again
"Consider it done" he said smugly over the communicator
There was an explosion and the enemy's fleet had dropped off the map
"Y2, C4, report" I yelled
"C4, here mission accomplished" she said happily
"Y2 come in" I yelled, there was a long silence
"C4 can you contact Y2?"I spoke out
"What's wrong" her voice rising in shock.
"Y2... Here... mission accomplished" his voice sounded tried and weak
"Send in someone to retrieve Y2 he's been injured and someone to my location" I yelled, Luke's injury was causing him to lose too much blood he was basically bleeding to death.
"Understood, send us your coordinates" C4 spoke over the communicator
"Sending now" I said as I found the option
"I'll be right up" C4 puffed
The door on the roof behind me swung open and there stood a female fox in a purple jump suit
"Are you the man who helped us?" she asked
"I am, I could see you had no strategy" I replied
"Well thank you, we just took out nearly all the hunters in one go then, I'm Nanaly" she said as he picked up Luke
"I'm Phoenix and don't remove his mask" I said as she touched the top of it.
She nodded her head in agreement and we walked down the flight of stairs to be greeted by this small rebellion
"Thanks man" said a familiar voice, it was that of Y2.
"You're welcome, now please we have an urgent matter to attend to" I spoke my mask shifted to show I was looking at Luke's bullet wound.
"Sure come this way" said Y2
"Nanaly make sure I know where he is at all times" I said
"What am I your nanny!?" Her voice very pissed off
We were escorted to an abandoned building an hour just outside of Jacksonville by this time it had reached 1am the following morning and the area was dark as I sat on the black silk like couch.
