Part 1: One Hell of a Wake up Call; Part 2: Starting Anew
(This story is based off of the wonderful movie Rio!! It was so damn cute i needed to write a story about it, I mean i literally DAAWWWWWEEEDDD!!! at some parts. Anyway i really hope ya'll enjoy and this may be a series if i dont get TOO lazy, and if i do oh well its my life!! >:( ENJOY!!!! :3)
You know how after a tough day of manual labor you are... aching once you stop working. Well that was how I felt after my dad had run me ragged for the third time this week. Man when I got to my room everything was black except my bed which was shimmering ever so gracefully next to my window. Just the sight of my torn up, raggedy, piece of shit bed made me ever so anxious to lie down and let it take me. So I did just that and boy was I out quick, the last thing I heard before I fell asleep was my dad screaming "Bad Logo!" I guess the family Rottweiler just ate one of my dad's chips; He was always one to get mad at the little things.
I awoke to a loud buzzing noise that consistently kept getting louder and louder in my ear. It took me awhile to realize it was my alarm clock buzzing ever so annoyingly at me telling me, no screaming at me to wake up! After a few wild punches I finally hit the snooze button which gave me enough time to sit up and actually switch the infernal thing off. It was mid-summer and I was already yearning for my senior year to begin. Very few kids want school to begin as soon as i do, then again not many kids have a reason for it. I was interrupted mid thought by an abrupt slamming on my door, no doubt by my dad. "Get your ass up boy, you got 10 minutes to get your shit together then were gonna do some yard work!" With that he marched off and went outside. I don't know how my dad was before he met my mom but what I do know is after mom died in labor he went totally bat shit crazy on my ass. Sometimes he would get so angry he would tell me that it was my fault she died and that I was a "broken condom baby". This was hurtful but really I had gotten used to it. Surprisingly he rarely averted to beating me as punishment or to emphasize his crude statements towards me. Which leads me to believe he was a smart man, just now a thick cloud of anger envelops his mind. This is why I've decided to run away for a couple days. See how my dad reacts to the separation, harmless experimentation as I like to call it. It was now or never, I pulled out my old backpack from my previous school year which was barely full of canned food and snacks along with a few water bottles. I swung the backpack around my shoulder and snuck out of my window. I always knew there was a geographical advantage to having my room placed near the front yard, a quick getaway. I wasted no time bolting through the yard as I could smell the rush of gasoline coming from the mower as it roared to life. I didn't check to see if my dad was looking I just kept running, and I assumed he did see me judging by the mower instantly dying down and him yelling "CJ, what in the he-!" All noise shut off in my head as I ran faster than ever down the dirt road my adrenaline pumping worryingly fast throughout my body. As time passed on the adrenaline slowly dyed down. Another geographical advantage to living here was that there was a luscious green forest nearby and that was exactly where I was headed.
I hurriedly smashed through the branches blocking my way, undoubtedly getting cut all over my body based on the fact I was wearing shorts and a sleeveless muscle shirt. After a few minutes of running and dodging thick trees I finally got to the spot I planned on going to. In front of me was a very thick tree that was arched in such a way to form a seat for any wandering creatures. After taking in my success I went and sat down on the stump feeling the bump in the back left pocket of my shorts. I sat up and pulled out my wallet which contained 26 dollars, in case I ran out of food or water. I decided to climb the tree and set my bag up on a high branch so to avoid most scavengers that wandered upon my things. I hopped down with little impact, due to my light figure approximately 124 pounds, not bad for a 17 year old. This thought made me smile and prompted me to go exploring in the woods. I knew that the idea was dangerous but what else was I going to do for 2 days, with that I pulled out my combat knife and chose a random direction to hike through. I took into consideration that I could not walk far or else I would lose my place in this lonesome forest. I kept walking on stopping briefly to appreciate nature and its beauty. I decided to walk a bit further and then turn back, when i heard a loud swishing noise. Almost as if there was a concentrated ball of plasma right next to my ear, against my better judgment I went to check it out. As the noise grew increasingly louder I finally came across what I was walking towards and the sight amazed me. It was a neon green portal that looked as if it was being held by two trees with claw markings in them which also glowed green. Now I was sure that this was physically impossible due to the fact that this was not at all a closed system and that the energy seemed to be holding itself in place while swirling about in the middle. Quite soon it hit me that this was a scientific discovery and that this certainly was not here recently which prompted me to do something crazy. I ran directly at the portal and jumped in and as soon as my face hit the portal complete blackness followed by an extreme shifting in my body took hold of me and I knew I was unconscious.
I awoke in a forest similar to the one I was in and as I opened my eyes a clear blue sky was awaiting above my head. Then I noticed two birds with what looked like tails flying above me and it took me awhile to realize that they were coming closer. I would have panicked due to their enormous size but I couldn't move, nothing hurt but I couldn't move my body. The coloration of the birds soon came clear to me as one of them was light blue and the other a darker shade of blue. Both of the birds landed next to me and were closely observing me as if they knew I could not move. Then the birds spoke and to my surprise in English "Must have come across the portal, little wanderer." The light blue macaw said in a light tone. The blue macaw spoke in a more serious tone "Or followed us." I could tell that the light blue bird was in fact female while the other was male. I decided to try and talk but all that came out was a weak whimper which was odd. The light blue bird smiled widely at this and excitedly said "Awww, can we keep him?" The blue bird seemed to also loose the serious look in his face and said "Sure, just hope we don't get into any trouble this way." With that said the light blue macaw gently lifted me up and walked me out of the forest accompanied by the other bird. Every now and then I would whimper in an effort to talk but the bird would raise her finger to me and shush me. It's as if they knew I was in no pain but from what I could tell I probably looked about ready to die. The bird carried me into a house as the door was opened by the male and quietly shut. I took this time to observe my surrounding and much to my surprise (once again) the house looked just as if a regular house did only this house was well organized and had a staircase which most likely lead to the second floor. "Welcome home little guy." I was about ready to object when I thought, my life is or was awful so why waste this opportunity to start anew and actually have a decent life. I tried to muster a smile and I think it worked judging by the smile I received from both the birds and the cuddling I got from the female bird. "You probably want to get some sleep, the numbness should were off soon. We'll explain it all once you wake up." The male said in a semi-serious tone. There was not much I could do except to follow the one order I never got in my life and that was to sleep, and I gladly obliged.
Part 2: Starting Anew
I awoke on a very similar looking couch and finally everything came back to me as I realized that this wasn't some sort of cartoon dreamland. I quickly chose not to panic so as not to alert the birds, regaining more of my memory I remembered why I wanted to accept this and that put me at ease. I could hear talking in the kitchen which lead me to believe they got a drink or something. I decided not to disturb them yet so I could use this time to look around. After looking carefully around the room I observed that it was white walls with a shaggy carpet, there was a fireplace nearby and a TV about 40 something inches. This was all very weird since this was all items you would find in a human home but the owners were clearly not human at all. I closed my eyes in an attempt to stop overthinking which worked for the most part. I got up and saw my clothes on the fireplace with my knife resting on top of them. I almost stubbed my toe on the coffee table so I looked down to avoid it when I noticed I was covered in grey fur and red markings. My feet weren't feet anymore they were paws, same for my hands as I used them to feel my face then felt and saw the muzzle that was attached to my face and how my nerves and brain waves were linked with all of the muscles in my body. Still this did not make me panic but what did do it for me was that I noticed I was smaller than the coffee table. I was about 1 foot 4 inches and I wondered if everything grew or if I shrunk. I held in a yelp and checked to see if the birds were still talking and they were. They seemed to have moved out onto their back porch onto a swing while holding tall glasses of what looked to be lemonade. I calmed myself down and figured out what to do, just play it cool. I walked into the kitchen and then outside as the two birds saw me and said nothing. I climbed up onto the swing and sat in the middle letting out a sigh.
"Your awake I see" said the female bird as she wrapped her wing around me and pulled me in closer to snuggle with her. Which I could not help but do, there was something about her that just let out a feel good attitude. The male also came closer and started to pet my head causing me to stick my tongue out a little. "I'm assuming you've already... got to know your new body?" the female asked looking down at me still holding me tight. "Yes ma'am." The female giggled at this and turned to (what I assume was) her mate and said cheerfully "Look Blu we got a well-mannered little guy." This made me happy at the compliment but a little annoyed by them calling me a "little guy" but I was much too comfortable to lash out. "My name is Jewel, and th-. " Jewel got cut off by the male "My name is Blu as you already heard." The male smiled down at me and gave my head fur a ruffle before retreating his hand to the back of the chair as he crossed his legs. "Um... nice to meet ya'll, my name is CJ." "Ok then CJ, you probably want to know what happened and I can give you the long story or I can give you a brief summary." Jewel announced. I thought for a moment thinking how I don't feel like sitting and listening for more than five minutes. "Against my curiosity I'll let my laziness prevail on this one, tell me the short end of it and ill figure out the rest." Jewel smiled at me and said "How'd you get to be so smart?" This came as a little of a shock to me but I quickly answered "I always was interested in literature and art, soon I came to also be interested in math, physics, and the study of life, I think it's really bizarre but hey I'll take it." Blu was leaning in the swing just sitting idly by waiting for the explanation to begin.
After a few moments of consideration and recollecting her thoughts Jewel finally spoke "Alright so you ran into a portal, that we opened, for reasons unknown and entered our world here, though it is not that easy there is something unique to every world that restricts what lives on its crust. This world seemed to have restricted humans, so you somehow got genetically altered into a random animal at a random age. Basically you're about one or two years old as it stands, and you've got some unique physical attributes which stand out." A few moments went by and five words came to mind "Can I have a mirror?" This made both the birds laugh as the female carried me in the house and to the bathroom holding me in front of the mirror. I noticed something right away that I can't believe I missed, huge wings sprouting from my back that had the look of an angels wings but the darkness of a demon. Closer examination confirmed my suspicion about the red markings being all around me, they looked like veins but clearly they were not pointing in the direction that veins should be. Lastly after looking over my entire body I concluded that I was some kind of demon wolf that had wings. A lot of things were running through my mind but all I could say out loud was "Woah!" which made the female laugh and walk out of the bathroom. "So you like your new body?" Jewel asked in a curious tone. "I don't know if like' is the word right now" I slightly chuckled glad I could find some amusement in all of this. Jewel carried me upstairs holding one wing under my butt and wrapping her other wing around my back resting my head atop her shoulder. "Since we found you and we are not going to let you take care of yourself we are going to be your caretakers. While you were out I sent Blu to get some supplies for the nursery and he's buil-"Wait wait what? A nursery?" I interrupted somewhat outraged. "Calm down CJ" She gently put her wing around my head and pushed me back on to her shoulder. "We thought that because of your age it might be fitting for you and besides you'd look to cute in it." Jewel smiled as I slowly raised my head. "You aren't telling me the full truth, I'm very good at that." Jewel sighed deeply and rested my head once again on my shoulder as we sat on her bed. "Well CJ... Blu and I have been wanting a baby for a while now and for some reason no matter how many times we try we always end up failing. So we decided to forget about that for a bit and see the human world, and on the way back you fell through the portal. We thought about tossing you back but we could see that your eyes were clearly open so we decided to face this head on." Jewel took a deep sigh once again most likely preparing for the horrible judgment I might toss at her. I put my hand on her chest gently and spoke "I understand, and luckily you were in fact helping me. I had a miserable life and my dad treated me like shit so by doing this you actually saved me." This made Jewel smile widely and wrap her arms around me pulling me into a hug. "By the way CJ, please refrain from cussing." She pushed me away and looked me in the eye serious now. "I mean it, I know you're not actually a baby but I do not like cussing in my house, are we clear?" This rule upset me a little but it wasn't too bad. "Ok M-" I closed my lips knowing what I was about to say. Jewel smiled at me and touched her fingers to my lips "Its ok CJ, you can call me that if you feel comfortable." I smiled and hugged her "Ok mama."
