So this is the second "chapter" of my characters background story.  I had more or less wanted to continue the story after the main background story.  So far I have two chapters made up and haven't really been able to continue it since then. ^^;  That and lately when I try to get myself to write it just doesn't really sound right.  But hopefully I will be able to sooner or later.  I know most of the problem is I didn't really have an idea as to the direction I want to take it.

Awakening

I don't completely remember how I had gotten out of those ruins.  All I can remember is bits and pieces and a soft voice constantly speaking out to me.  For a while I had thought that Jera had somehow followed me and saved me.  But at the same time I know it was impossible.  But what I do remember are no more than flashes when I would gain consciousness for a shot while.  I remember my body felt like it weighed more than a mountain and my head felt as light as a cloud floating in the sky.  Whomever had saved me seemed to be slowly carrying my nearly lifeless body through the forest and up towards the mountains.  At one point I remember they paused for a short while at a cool stream.  I remember hearing the water trickling along the smoothed stones and hearing the birds calling out to each other up in the trees.  He then produced a wooden bowl, dipping it into the cool water and poured some of the water into my mouth.  I was able to gain just enough strength to choke out a small thank you before passing out again.

Sometime later when I had next awakened I remember the air seemed a little....thin and I could hear the roar of what sounded like a large monster nearby.  Which made my heart sink slightly despite how drained I was feeling.  Cause if that was the case I surely would not survive.  Though with my savior here I should be more or less fine or at least I had hoped.  After that my mind was a blank as to what had actually happened.  I figured whatever it was couldn't have been too bad, because I was still alive though my body was badly beaten and bruised.  Though it was hopefully nothing that couldn't be healed with time and a lot of rest.

Finally however, just as the new days bright rays came up over the horizon I slowly began to wake out of my deep sleep.  The first sound that pierced the silence though was the roaring sound, causing me to sit up sharply.  Which turned out to be the wrong thing to do as I yelped in pain, holding my chest.  "Well it seems I am alive..." I whispered softly through gritted teeth.  Feeling bandages wrapped around my chest and as I slowly opened my brown eyes, blinking several times to clear my extremely blurred vision I realized that someone had tended to my wounds and wrapped up several parts of my body.  As I shook my head slightly trying to clear it and remember what exactly had happened to me I realized that the loud noise that I had been hearing was actually a waterfall and I was apparently in a cave that had formed behind it.  I could see the wavy form of the sun slowly making its way up the sky behind it and feel some of the cool water making its way back to me and landing on my fur.  As I slowly began to try and sit myself up I winced in pain again and finally gave up.  Laying myself back onto the hard ground again I started looking around the cave.  Not far from where I was laying I noticed a traveling cloak and some random supplies.  Then up closer to the mouth of a cave I noticed the cooling embers of the night's fire.  Its smoke still wafting slowly towards the entranc.  "So it wasn't a dream then...apparently someone did help me out back there...only question is who...and where are they now..."

Not long after speaking these words a figure leapt through the wall of water and entered the cave.  Causing me to breathe in sharply and place my paw on my chest again, rubbing it softly.  I watched as they laid something down next to the spent fire and slowly started walking over to me, crouching down next to my body.  "Oh so you're finally awake?  I was wondering when you would or if you even would.  There was a few times there where you gave me a scare.  So how are you feeling?"

I just kept staring up at the figure.  Not really sure what to make of them and the more I did the more I had that feeling creeping inside of me.  Making me feel warm inside.  "I'm still incredibly sore, but it seems I'll live...thank you though...for saving me..." As I chuckled softly to myself and wiped a paw across my forehead. "Seems I had gotten a little over my head with that...apparently I need a little more training...but how did you find me?..." I just kept staring at him.  My eyes slowly traveling along his body.  He wasn't much younger than me and he had a fairly well built body.  He appeared to be a grey wolf with a light grey body and white around the center of his face that traveled down his neck.  Along with a scar that went down over his right eye and he had two toned eyes as well.  The left being a dull yellow and the right being a piercing green.

"It was mostly just luck really.  I've been roaming around since I've been exiled and I had simply stumbled across the place.  Though I had begun to feel...something the closer I had gotten to it.  The closer I got the more I could hear something big happening inside as well.  So my curiosity had taken hold of me and well that's when I had stumbled on you fighting that thing.  Luckily all of its attention was focused on you so I was able to finish it off." I chuckled softly to myself again and shook my head again, looking back up at him.

"Well lucky you came when you did...I am in your debt for saving me there..." He simply gave me a toothy smile and nodded, turning around and heading back to the fire.  Messing around again with whatever he had entered the cave with and looked back over his shoulder at me.

"Hey you must be fairly hungry?  How about a little breakfast for a change?" I nodded slightly and tried sitting up once again, grunting softly and gritting my teeth as my ribs fought against me.  I was able to bear the pain long enough however to prop myself up against the cool cave wall, which may have been a bad idea because each breath was taken in sharp bursts.  At that point the blanket slipped below my waist and I blushed slightly, noticing that I was naked and quickly pulled it up a bit again.  But I was able to look over just in time to see him light the fire near the entrance and seeming to produce flame from his paws.  Which he proceeded to place fish around and walked back over to me, squatting down next to me and placing a paw on my shoulder.  "You probably shouldn't do that.  You're still fairly banged up still and need to take it easy."  I smirked softly at him and shook my head, sighing softly as I felt the pain slowly easing in my chest.

"Heh yeah I know.  Though I've never been the type to take things easy or to do what I've been told.  So how long was I actually out for?"  I figured it could have been as short as a few days to as long as a few weeks.

"Let me see..." He sighed softly and stood back up, running one of his paws through his headfur, speaking softly to himself.  I had also noticed then that he had a small white patch on his left paw as well.  "It was a little over a week if I'm counting my day's right.  Sometimes it's hard to keep track of time out here.  Especially when it usually doesn't matter too much." I nodded slightly and started rubbing my chest softly trying to ease the pain there even more as the smell of cooking fish slowly wafted its way to my nose, making my mouth water slightly.  He must have noticed the hunger in my eyes though, because at that moment he had turned around and walked back to the fish, picking a few of them up and walking back, handed one of them to me.  I graciously took one and was about to take a bit out of it when I stopped and looked back at him.

"My names Naki by the way." Smiling softly up at him as I blew on my fish softly, taking a small bite out of it as he returned the smile and nodded back, leaning himself up against the wall.

"My names Kepadel or just Kep for short." I quickly finished my food, realizing just how hungry I truly was and spent most of the rest of the day resting more and trying to get my body to move more.

Throughout most of the day I was left by myself in the cave.  Only seeing Kep every once in a while when he had returned to check up on me.  I wasn't sure where he was going to so often, but I didn't want to be rude and ask.  Along with he seemed like he was being used to being alone and my presence probably threw him off a bit.  Especially since I was awake now.  Though lucky for me my strength seemed to quickly be returning to me, however my wounds begged to differ.  I was able to find some leather lying around and was able to fashion some simple clothing.  By the time the sun was setting in the sky and the shadows were creeping their way towards me enough of my strength had returned that I was able to walk around a bit.  However I still needed to help of a nice walking stick I had found to help support myself.

Then at one point he came bursting through the water once again, making me jump slightly and fall down on my butt, causing me to yelp slightly and grit my teeth, cussing softly under my breath as he sat some more food down and came over, offering me a paw and giving me a cocky grin.  "Did you enjoy your fall?" I simply shook my head, sticking my tongue out slightly as I took his paw, allowing him to help me up as I slowly made my way closer to the fire and slide myself down the wall, sitting on the ground once again.  I watched as he set some more food up around the fire and sat next to me, enjoying it's warmth.  We sat there for a while in silence until he proceeded to collect the food and I broke it, speaking softly.

"You know...I don't want to intrude on anything, but..." I sighed softly, rubbing the back of my head and looking over to the side, watching the water make it's way down the smooth rocks.  "But how did you end up out here?"  There was silence again and it seemed to last a lifetime and just as I was about to apologize he finally spoke up.

"It's...kind of a long story and I know you probably need your rest."  He looked a little bothered by it, but nothing that could be fixed by me being a little persistent.  I saw a lot of pain reflected in his eyes though when I finally looked back at him.  I gave him a small smile and decided to speak up.

"Well how about I tell you a little bit about myself and my past?  Maybe that'll help make things a little easier for you."  He seemed to think for a short while and looked at my face, seeing only friendliness and good intentions so he returned the smile and nodded.  I smiled even more back as he began to take a bite out of his food, making himself more comfortable on the ground.   I slowly began telling him my story.  Catching his reaction at certain parts in it, like how I had special powers and about the spirit possessing me.

By the time my story was done I took a deep breath.  Almost feeling as if a huge weight was lifted off my chest.  Looking down at the fire and noticing it's fires starting to burn low I reached over and threw a few more logs onto it.  Sending red sparks into the air.  At that moment I looked over at him again, partially thinking that he had fallen asleep, but actually seeing him in deep thought.  I was still wondering if he'd start telling me his story and what exactly he thought of mine.

"It all really started many years ago..."  And just like that he was off.  Pausing at several points seeming to wonder where exactly to go next.  And so as the stars and the moon traveled across the clear night sky he told me his story and I slowly began to understand.
