Those Bygone Dog-Star Days - Chapter 7 of 37
~ Chapter 7 ~
The atmosphere at Infinitá was same as usual except for one detail: Cade and I were party animals! As corny as that sounds, we danced and drank and sweated and touched until we could do no more but collapse upon each other in our usual booth. My mind was far from gone with the shots we downed and the unbelievable scent coming from Cade, driving me wild. Perhaps it was the half-dozen or so cherry bombs just hitting me, but as I got off of Cade who was left still panting in the booth, my legs barely held me upright as I staggered to the bar. I bullied my way through two suits who weren't even sitting down - and didn't even have a drink yet - and stared wild-eyed at Marc.
"Okay, Markie," I snickered, "After this round, Cade and I are cut off! Got that?" I tapped the counter with my index finger, emphasizing the point.
"Yeah, Aaron," Marc frowned at me. He could be annoying at times. No matter how close we are, I'm still a customer and he's still the bartender. 'The customer is always right,' right? Right.
I realized a sense of claustrophobia and looked at the suits that I separated. The tall one on my right, I side-glanced casually, was a human of solid built, early balding, and a face you can only get by sucking lemons for five years. Whatever bug crawled up his butt must've shed its cocoon and laid eggs with the way he scowled. Had there been a more anal-retentive-looking person in the room, I probably would've heard squeaking.
"Hey, Ainy," I returned the scowl, "Back off, I gotta boyfriend already." Laughing at my own witticism, I turned to my left and stared at a refrigerator. That human was taller than Ainy on my right and at least one and a half times as wide. Tanner skin and a boxier face gave me an impression of what early hominids could have looked like. He looked down on me and I secretly shuddered. "Hey. Sorry there, ya big ape," I slapped him on the back with much gusto and bravado, "I didn't mean to get between you and your boy toy," I thumbed over my shoulder. "Lemme just get my drinks and I'll be out of your hair and whatever's left of his."
Marc came back with two stubby glasses filled with a dark, fizzing drink, "Try these. I made them especially for you two." He glanced up at my monkey-sandwich, "You'd better get going, Aaron."
"You don't need to tell me twice," I muttered, making my way back to the booth. As I slid across from Cade, I took a look back and saw the two suits and Marc walk towards the back of the building. Poor Marc, he could've gotten something better than those two. I never have seen Marc with a partner, but jeez. At least it's a three-some, I guess.
"Cade, you awake, there buddy?" I slid the cold glass over to him. Some of the drink spilled out as the ice swayed to a stop.
"Yup!" He reeled up into a sitting position, wearing a dopey grin. His hair was matted, his eyes were glossy, and he was breathing hard, but I wanted him right then and there. I wasn't surer of anything else in my life. I could feel my heartbeat in my ears as they pounded with the rhythm of the dance music.
"But first things first," I raised my glass. Cade mirrored me and simultaneously we downed our last drink for the day. A searing cold pain shot through my head and pierced my eyes. I inhaled sharply and closed my eyes, hearing Cade cry out, also. "Ow! Ow ow ow, cold!" An arctic blast of a brain-freeze flash-froze my head, slowly numbed, and then thawed out. Blinking back tears I looked at Cade who wore the same stunned-heifer look that I was wearing at this point.
"Some kick, huh?" I contorted my face into a smile.
"Hell yeah. I wonder what Marc put into it?" Cade looked into his empty glass suspiciously then set it down. "I'm good to go. Let's get out of here."
As we walked out, my mind ran through the various places that we could go at eleven at night. I didn't want to do much walking or anything since the day's activities already wore me out. "Well how about Kessler Park down by the river?" The place always had nice open-aired buildings where in my youth I left more than my share of marks on the rafters.
"Naw," exhaled Cade with a devious grin, "I was thinking someplace more intimate.
My mind resorted the list it compiled earlier. There were secluded spots at the park where we could just watch the stars; otherwise one of the older theaters in town had a broken side door. I usually snuck in for a free movie every now and - "Oh!" I barked.
We cuddled under the bus stop even though it was still about seventy degrees out and the humidity made it feel as if we had just taken a shower and forgot to towel off. The bus ride to my place, we sat across from each other and made faces. A couple of the more urgent stops the bus grinded to, we tipped over, laughing at ourselves.
Stepping off the bus onto the sidewalk where the entrance to my building was turned out to be a little more difficult than I thought. With Cade and I leaning against each other, trying to keep the world from flying out from under our feet, we managed to make it up the stairs, through the entranceway, and onto the elevator where we both almost collapsed from vertigo - twice. After successfully navigating the air between my hand and the lock, I flung open my door with a triumphal laugh and a snicker from Cade.
"Shuddup," I told him off, "I'm inebriated. That means druNKuh. My motor reflexes aren't, umm, good."
"So am I, but it's not going to take me FIVE MINUTES to open the door," smart-ass-Cade retorted.
"Then do it!" I handed him the key, shoved him out the door, closed and locked the door, sputtering a laugh.
There were thumps against the door and some on the floor followed by a silent 'ouch'. Scraping soon followed as I traced the key's movements on the door to the lock, away from the lock, down the door, and hearing a 'thump' and another 'ouch!' replace the key scrape.
Silence.
"Aaron?" a quiet voice murmured through the slit at the bottom, "I gotta pee."
"Then open the door," I chuckled.
"I can't! This isn't funny, I really gotta go."
"Sure you can! Just get the key to the lock and turn - you'll be inside in no time," I tried to muffle my laughter.
"Come on, open the door! I'm gonna pee my pantss!"
Unlocking and opening the door, I helped Cade up off the floor and into the bathroom. I forgot to turn on any lights, but the hallway provided enough illumination to meander around a couple of piles of junk towards the bathroom. Streetlights from outside cast an eerie orange glow that stretched shadows of my furniture across the floor.
"No peeking, now," Cade winked as he shut the door behind him.
"Just don't lock it," I teased, "Somebody might have to come in and rescue you and I don't want my door busted."
I heard a muffled tell-off from the other side and only made out the word, 'priorities.' At least I hoped the word was 'priorities.'
I thought he'd never finish as what sounded like a fire hose exploding into my toilet soon trickled to a stop and was flushed away. The sink ran and Cade appeared with droplets on his face, trying to look at least semi-sober. It didn't work.
"Here's the grand tour," I took his hand and waved with my other one, "Living room, kitchen, BATHROOM - which you've already had the pleasure of meeting, and finally - I pushed the door open, "bedroom." The same orange glow that permeated my living room also light up my bedroom. It wasn't bright by any means, but nor were we stumbling in the darkness towards my bed. Okay we were stumbling, but for other reasons than the light.
Cade laid down on my bed, facing up at me. He stretched, yawning. His maroon sleeveless t-shirt lifted up to reveal his belly button. I kneeled on the bed between his legs and placed my hands on either side of his head, staring down to him.
"Don't fall asleep just yet," I smirked, "The best part's still to come! Here," I lifted up his shirt revealing a softly fuzzy tummy that was rising and falling at a quick pace. He was more excited than I was and the heat hadn't gone down much since this afternoon. It was making for one very hot evening. Taking it completely off, he did the same to me and I watched as his eyes danced around my body as I'm sure mine did on his.
I leaned in and kissed him gently on the lips. My tongue lightly brushed against him. Following his muzzle, I worked my way to his ear, breathing ever so slightly. I exhaled just enough air to get a whisper out and nibbled on the base of his ear, feeling it tremble beneath my lips. Cade inhaled sharply. Making my way down, my lips roamed his jaw line and neck, only stopping at his collarbone. He looked up at me expectantly and I held his head. I kissed him once on the upper lip, feeling him strain. I kissed him again on both lips, feeling the anticipation. I kissed him a third time on his lower lip, suckling it slightly.
"Aaron," he shuddered. His eyes stayed at half-mast as he pulled towards me.
We kissed again mouths open for one another. I flicked my tongue against the roof of his mouth and he pulled away slightly. "Stop that. It tickles," he smiled. We kissed deeply a second time with my hand tracing patterns across his chest. As we pulled apart, my lips joined my hand upon his chest, defining spirals and zigzags as I teased my way to his nipples nipping at them tenderly. My teeth combed along his stomach where his breathing was much more noticeable and I circled his belly button with my tongue. Below, I could feel him straining against his mottled green cargo shorts and above he was moaning quietly.
Slowly I freed him from his constraints, feeling his heat emanating from below me, against my muzzle. I kissed him on his tip then followed along his length to his sheath, massaging it soothingly, taking my time. I licked him barely. The tip of my tongue hovered against him and I made my way back up.
"Mmmmmuh," Cade groaned and squirmed.
I let my tongue flick across him, hearing excited gasps as I did so. My hand held onto the rest of him, running my fingers through the fine hair on the underside of his sack, massaging him gently.
"Mmm... Mmmmih," he exhaled, breathing rapidly. I felt, more than saw, his top half oscillating above me.
I licked him long and longingly. I held him in the confines of my tongue like a warm, moist blanket then slowly pulled back. My tongue swirled and twirled near the top, feeling his deep warmth.
His body went slack and I looked up at him, panting myself. I wiped sweat off of my brow. His breathing was shallow, and his head was to one side with his tongue halfway hanging out. His eyes were fluttering.
"Cade, you alright?" I asked.
"Mmmih," he responded.
It was as if an electric jolt ran through my body, sending every hair on me on end. He wasn't moaning, he was trying to say 'mint'. The room temperature was incredibly high and humid. He was too hot, he needed to cool down right away.
"Oh god, hold on," I told him. When I opened the bedroom door, the temperature difference was stark.
_When did I close the door?_I thought. Whatever buzz that still lingered from tonight's drinks was completely gone. All I cared about was getting Cade to a safe temperature.
I ran cool water in the tub at full force. I pulled so hard on the handle, I was surprised I didn't break it off in my hand. My own hands were trembling. I stoppered the drain and ran back to the bedroom.
"It's okay, Cade," I consoled him, "I'm gonna get you cooled down." I lifted him off of the bed and carried him to the bathroom. Though almost entirely limp, he seemed to weigh next to nothing. It surprised me, but there were more pressing matters to deal with.
With the gentleness of holding a baby, I lowered him into the running water, propping him against the back of the tub. His eyes were open, but his breathing was still quick. I traced a wet washcloth over the upper half of his body as the tub water dissipated heat from Cade's lower extremities.
Slowly his sharp breathing lessened and he became more aware. "Mint?" he asked, still slightly confused.
"Be right back."
I rifled through his shorts and found a small savings of blue mints and took a couple. In the kitchen I poured a tall cup of water from the fridge then made my way back to the bathroom.
"Here you go," I said, handing him the cup. He drank eagerly. He was coming around quickly, I thanked god for that at least. It could have been a lot worse what with the weather lately. Cade popped in a couple of the mints and chewed on them noisily.
"Aaron?" he quivered slightly, looking up at me.
"Yeah, Cade?"
"I'm cold," he smiled.
