Chapter 2

The buzz of an alarm clock forced light into the world once again as Seth opened his eyes and covered his mouth, letting out a large yawn. Yesterday... Seth tried to remember what might've happened the day before but nothing came to mind. "What do you mean, Babe? What happened yesterday?"

Chase looked a little worried and put a paw to Seth's cheek. "That car almost hit you yesterday, Love... It's a miracle that you're still here. I'm just glad someone was there to push you out of the way in time, otherwise you wouldn't be with us anymore."

A sudden flash of memory came back to Seth. He could see himself in the middle of the road and Chase off to the side, but no one else was to be seen anywhere near the hapless skunk. The flash ended and Seth was back to reality, staring into Chase's eyes, looking very confused. "Love... are you sure that's how it happened?"

Chase nodded and finished the sentence for him. "Have a job... and you haven't for six months. Not since you won the lottery and bought this house as well as anything else we could ever want." Chase sat up and took Seth's paw. "Love, I think we should take you to see a doctor."
