Let The Music Flow...

_ This is it..._

The crowd gathered around the stage in anticipation. Anxiously waiting for the newest DJ to come to the stage, they began to chant. Everyone was decked out in apparel, signs, and costumes, they wait for him to make his appearance.

The stage was set with huge screens, amps set wall high. All that was needed was the person to orchestrate this concert.

_ Here we go..._

A trap door was opened and a person was emerging. When his head cleared the table full of turntables, mixers, samplers, and multiple effects boxes, the crowd went into hysteria.

He was dressed in a dark blue hoodie, camo pants, and on his head, a helmet in the shape of a jackal, all black with no eyes, mouth, pointed ears and a muzzle. He raised his hands and the crowd cheered louder. He was toying with them.

_ Now to start playing..._

He turned on his computer, put on a song and cranked the volume up. The track came on and everyone was quiet, waiting to hear what it was.

It came out soft and pleasant, with a melody that everyone can relate to. When people were nodding to the music, the DJ smiled under his helmet, pressed a button and looked at the audience's reaction.

The music came to a sudden halt and was replaced by a blaring, fast-paced dubstep song that everyone knew. The crowd loved it, they began to jump to the beat and scream bloody murder. He smiled and continued to play, but in his mind he was sad at where this song's inspiration came from...

***

I got home from school, excited about the weekend. I went into the house and saw my mom working on the computer, working a stressful job that's states away. I went to my room to lie down on the bed, stared at the ceiling and thinking of what to do next. I began to watch TV when I heard yelling. Dad's home I thought, getting up and making myself known.

I walked to the kitchen to get me something to eat, when I felt a hand clench around my throat. I grabbed the hand and twisted it out of my way. I looked and saw my dad, drunk off his ass and swaying a little, with a shit-eating grin on his face.

"Boy," he said, "I say, boy, what're you doing out of your room? You're supposed to do homework until dinner!" With that said, he yanked his hand out of my grip, grabbed his already loosened belt from his pants, and made to swing at me. If not for the fact that he was going to miss, I would have decked him with my fist and broke his nose.

I was right. He missed, wide, and with no contact, the belt flew up and hit his face. I knew then that I had to get out of there. I slipped away as I heard my dad yelling and cussing like a bloody sailor. I waited in my room until dinner, when things were dying down.

I went to the kitchen, walking passed dad, who was sleeping in his chair with a couple of empty beer bottles littering around on the floor. I kept walking towards the kitchen, not seeing mom anywhere. It was fine, since she knew better than to be in the same room as my father. I ate in silence, cleaned my plate, and went to my bedroom, until I heard crying from my parent's bedroom. I looked through the crack in the doorway and saw my mother crying, tears streaming down her once beautiful face. When the door squeaked, announcing my presence to her, she looked up and saw me and cleaned the tears from her eyes. I saw the bruise marks on her face and neck and I began to hate my father with a passion I had not had in years.

I've known him for as long as I can remember, being around my life since my biological father left my mother and I stranded in the parking lot on a cold December day, holding bags of groceries in our hands. I was confused, but I looked at my mom and saw tears beginning to stream down her face. In my naiveté, I said, "Daddy will be coming back, don't worry." My words didn't comfort her, they only fueled her sadness and cried harder, knowing exactly what happened. He left us. He was never coming back.

Months past and my mom rented an apartment. We were living together, my mother going to work while I was in school, starting Kindergarten, making friends. I was still worried about my father, of course, but didn't voice it to mom, fear of seeing her cry again.

That's when she laid the truth on me. He wasn't coming back. He never will.

I didn't know what to say. A million questions flowed through my brain, but the biggest was why? Why did he leave? Was he unsatisfied with mother? If so, why did he leave when we were out shopping of all things?

I started to cry, now realizing that this was all true. I ran to my room and cried, cried like the baby I was. My mother came to comfort me, holding me and saying sweet nothings to help. It did, but it didn't dull the pain.

Years later, my mom met my current dad at some street corner on her way to work. After a few exchanged words, and some nice gestures by him, he asked her out. Soon, they figured out that they had much in common and began dating, much to my displeasure.

During his visits over to our apartment, whenever we were alone with each other, he treated me like crap. Whenever I started to talk, he would raise his hand and beat me until I shut up. He would taunt me, saying nasty things about my mom. Mom never found out, for he would change his character whenever she was near.

I told mom what happened, but, of course, she would assume that I was jealous of him and would do whatever it took to break it off. I had tried numerous times to expose him, but he was always one step ahead. Finally, I gave up. They got married later, and that's when he showed his true colors.

He would constantly harass my mother and drink whenever he felt like it. My mother tried to fight back, only to be subjected to his hand and belt. He hit her so much, the fight was gone and she was but a hallow shell of her former self.

I, however, didn't back down. I studied everything I could to defend myself against his strength, watching videos and hearing things from my friends at school. When I turned eighteen, I began to search around for an apartment so I could get away from this hellhole.

After I sat down and comforted her, I told her about my recent search and found a perfect apartment for us for cheap. She smiled and when I told her that she could come, she lost her smile and said that she wasn't going anywhere. I was taken aback at this statement.

"Why?" I questioned. "He's been beating and abusing you for God knows how long, and you want to stay with him? Why?"

She looked at me, and her eyes shown with intensity that was so bright, I couldn't believe that she was my mother. "I have a plan to get even with that bastard, but I have to wait for you to get out of the house. Don't question me about it, I don't want to get you involved. Just whatever happens to me, promise that you'll live a happy life and be good at whatever you do."

"Mom..." I began, worried about her and what she planned to do, but she cut me off.

"Promise me!" she said, her eyes on the brink of tears.

I reached up and hugged her fiercely, not wanting to let go. "I promise."

A few months went by and I got the apartment. It was perfect, with a big flat screen in the living room, a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen, I was living the life. I got a job, a car, and had friends that I could be happy with.

One day, as I was watching TV, flipping through channels to find something interesting, I heard something that sounded like my mother's name. I flipped back the channels and found a news station reporting some story. I didn't care at first, until I heard my mother's name again.

"... two bodies were found at the home of resident worker, Blake Johnson and payroll manager, Lisa Mill. We believe that the bodies are, in fact, Blake Johnson and Lisa Mill. Apparently, according to neighbor's testimonies, the two were arguing and heard a scream. Later, when a concerned neighbor came over to check on the couple, he found two bodies, stabbed in the heart and blood everywhere. He found the husband in the kitchen and the wife in the bedroom.

"What was strange about this was, for one, the way the bodies were placed. Blake Johnson's body was left in the kitchen, knife still in his chest, body sprawled out haphazardly, while Lisa Mill's body was in the bedroom, with a look of calm on her face, hands crossed on her chest holding a knife stained in blood. The police are questioning...."

I didn't listen to the report anymore. I didn't need to. I began to cry, tears streaming down my face. I couldn't believe it. I cried not only tears of happiness, now that the poor bastard is dead, but also tears of utter disbelief, not believing the fate that my mom has accepted.

I remember her last words that she spoke to me before I left, and made up my mind on what to do. Promise that you'll live a happy life and be good at whatever you do.

"I will. I'll do it for you, mother..."

The DJ began to plan ahead, picking his next song carefully, keeping in mind of the audience and what they want to hear.

He chose his next track and waited, letting this song play out. He looked towards his audience, everyone looking at him with rapt attention. He chuckled, getting louder and louder until it was borderline hysterical. He pressed play and the laughter continued, slowly becoming demonic and evil. Everyone was looking worried, until the beat came.

He knew he had them, this track making everyone scream at the unexpected turn of events. He looked and saw people beginning to dance, grinding their bodies against whoever was near them, not caring at all who it was. He turned and, on the stage, saw ladies dressed in either next to nothing or nothing at all. He wasn't worried at how they looked, they were his friends. All of them.

But the strange thing was, these girls weren't normal. He knew what they were and accepted them without question. He knew that they were hybrids.

He looked to his left and saw one of his friends, a human-looking wolf dance with an equally human-looking panther; both were dancing seductively to the music that was blasting from the speakers. They had their hands on each other, stroking the fur all over each other's bodies, giving the audience exactly what they want. On his right, a doe was elegantly dancing around a breakdancing horse, both moving in such a fashion that the people around them were cheering at them to continue.

He smiled at them, reflecting on the odd circumstances of how he met them....

***

I knew what I wanted to do ever since I was little. I saw videos of them performing at clubs, making people dance and having a great time. I wanted to be a DJ. People say that that isn't a real job, and they were right. But, that's what I wanted to do. When I got over my mom's death, not giving a shit about what happened to "dad", I began my search for equipment and opportunities to perform. I made mix tapes and gave them to all of the heads of local nightclubs, but I had my eye set on one in particular.

When I approached the nightclub, I was already rushed in. Being a regular and getting to know the staff sort of helps. When I went inside, even though I come in here every night, I'm still blown away at what I see.

Everyone here, except for a couple of humans, was covered in fur. I saw foxes, wolfs, dogs, and cats all dancing to the beat blaring from the speakers. Even some avians were doing some synchronized flying up toward the high ceiling. I made my way though and saw the bartender, serving drinks with a flare that only seasoned bartenders could do. I stopped by and grabbed a glass of water and watched with fascination at this display of pure energy.

Everyone was dancing, some grinding against someone and others just jumping and fist-pumping the air like there was no tomorrow, not caring how they look. Some were doing what came naturally to them while others tried a few dance moves, desperately trying to impress others around them. Mostly, everyone was having a great time.

I smiled and took a sip of my water when I noticed some commotion over by one of the sitting areas. A dragoness with dark blue scales and a lighter blue belly was pushing against a jock-like wolf, who trying to get closer to her face.

I knew this situation all too well and walked over. I reached them and heard some of their conversation.

"What the hell are you trying to do? I said no!" the dragoness said, looking so not interested in him that I couldn't help but chuckle to myself when I noticed him looking confused.

Not getting the message, he advanced some more. "Baby, I'm just trying to give you a kiss. Come on..." he leaned forward and puckered his lips, but was stopped short by a slap to the face.

"Get the hell away from me!" she screamed at him.

He recovered quickly, a snarl forming on his muzzle. "Oooh, you so did not just do that..."

He reached back and formed his hand into a fist, only to stop short of moving forward by someone holding him back.

"Mind if I cut in?" I asked, holding his wrist back with my hand.

He turned around and saw me, only to bust out laughing. "What the hell? A human? Really?! Gawd, I thought I was in some deep shit!" He kept laughing until I punched his muzzle and sent him flying against the wall. He passed out cold.

I turned back to the dragoness and offered my hand. She took it and stood up before me, just above my height. She smiled and hugged me. "Thanks," she said, "if you didn't show up just now, I don't know what would happen."

"Think nothing of it, my dear. I just can't stand some arrogant asshole hurting such a beautiful creature."

"My, aren't you sweet," she said, giving me a peck on the cheek. "I gotta run. My girlfriends must be worried sick about me."

"Don't worry about me. Just enjoy yourself," I said, motioning to go and join her friends.

She left with a smile on her face and a skip in her step. I walked back to the bar to recover my drink, only to find the bartender in a hushed conversation with someone I didn't know.

"Hey, Sid. What's going on?" I asked.

Sid turned and saw me, immediately smiling at my presence. We met a while back and became fast friends. He motioned back to the person he was talking to and said, "The boss is worried. She just found out that the crowd favorite, DJ Shade, has canceled because of a broken arm and can't play for a couple of weeks. She needs to find a replacement and fast."

I smiled and laughed. "Hell, I can play for y'all! I've improved since the last time you listened to me play."

"What was that? You can mix?" someone said. I turned to the voice and saw that it belonged to a tough looking white tigress, dressed in cargo pants and a wife beater, showing off her well-toned muscles.

"Hell yeah, he can play!" Sid vouched for me, "I've only listened to him play once, when I let him backstage one time and let him play the warm-up table. He can make beats that'll knock out the entire audience!"

"Well," I said, clearly embarrassed at the praise I was getting, "it was rough. I only had what I was limited to, so it wasn't my best."

"Doesn't matter," the tigress said, "We need someone now, and Sid has vouched for you. I trust his judgment. Can you do it?"

Both of them were looking at me. I couldn't believe this. If I said yes, then I'll be playing at the most prestigious club in the state. Only drawback was what was on my mind at the moment: What if everyone didn't like it?

After a few seconds hesitation, I reached a decision. "I'll do it."

"Good," the tigress said, "follow me. I take it you need some music?"

"Don't bother," I said, pulling out my keychain. Attached to the keychain was my flashdrive, filled with all of my best mixes.

"Good. You'll be playing after him." She pointed to the loft, where the current DJ was playing.

"Nice. Can't wait."

She led me backstage to a set of stairs, leading to the loft where the current DJ was finishing his set. When the song finished, he stepped back, raised his hands in the air and left.

"Wait," I said, looking around for something. I figured that many people didn't want to see a human, as this was a "fur" club, so I searched backstage for something to hide my identity. I found it, a helmet with pointed ears that'll cover my head. I put it on and walked out to the waiting crowd.

Everyone was puzzled, whispering back and forth between each other. Who was he? Where was DJ Shade?

I put in my flashdrive and pulled up one of the latest songs I was working on. The only "vocal" track I had right now. I was nervous, but I couldn't back out now. Everything was set and I looked back at the audience.

They were looking at me, expecting something to happen. Of course, I picked the helmet with a mike and began to laugh. I laughed and laughed, causing everyone to start getting really confused. I pressed play and soon, everyone started to hear screams. They were startled, looking around for the source. When they realized that it was coming from the speakers, I knew it was time to unleash the beat.

I waited for the right moment to kick it into high gear. Everyone was starting to get pissed. They were moving towards the exit. Noticing this, I had no choice but to unleash it early.

I deployed the beat, dropping the beat over and over until it was black and blue. Soon, I began to press buttons here and there, adding wobbles and effects. Everyone stopped, dumbfounded at what they were hearing. They soon were beginning to rush back to the loft and began to dance to the beat. I couldn't believe it, it was working.

I decided to take it further. Leading them to the next track, I quickly began to turn dials, adding distortion. Everything was garbled and hard to hear until I stopped and began the next track, a sick dubstep song that was inspired by some of my favorite artists. Everyone was floored at the sick beat that was coming from the speakers. They cheered and jumped up and down, crazy with lust over this new track. I looked back at the tigress and saw that she was dancing herself, not being in control of her movements, her body doing the natural thing by moving to the beat.

I looked out to the audience and saw the dragoness from earlier dancing with a couple of girls. She looked back at the stage and I waved my hand in her direction. She noticed this and waved back nervously. Since she didn't recognize me, I took a big risk and took off my helmet and let my face shine in the spotlight.

I saw her mouth go down, total shock etched on her face. She recovered quickly and turned to her friends, beginning to talk about me. I began to chuckle, letting the helmet sit on the table, not caring in the slightest. I was letting everyone know that a human was producing the wonderful beats that they were dancing to.

Soon, to my regret and everyone else's, my set was done. I stepped back and raised my hands above my head. Everyone was cheering and screaming for me not to go. So, the only logical thing I could do was shape my hands into a heart above my head and leave, my helmet under my arm.

I was immediately pulled away by the tigress, a smile forming on her face. "Kid, why didn't you say that you were that good. Everyone is screaming for an encore, demanding more from you. You gotta play here more often. We'll be the talk of the town."

"Wait," I said, confused, "are you offering me a job here? To play music to the masses?"

"If I say yes, will you take it?"

I couldn't believe my luck. I was getting offered a job here, the place where I saw magic happening on the dancefloor. I looked at her and, trying to sound professional and not a complete spaz, but with a lopsided smile, I said, "Yeah, I'll think about it."

She let me walk away, but I felt her paw on my shoulder and turned to see her. She said, "Tomorrow, same time."

I smiled and she let me walk. I was soon out of the backstage area and on the main floor when I heard cheers and applause. I turned and saw that everyone was clapping and cheering for me. I blushed at the attention and tried to get out, spent for the night, when I felt hands surrounding my belly and forcing me to go in a totally new direction.

I found myself on a couch, surrounded by gorgeous women of all shapes and sizes. I didn't know why they were this way, until I saw a familiar face.

"Hey," the dragoness said, "you didn't tell me you DJ here!"

"I didn't, until now," I replied, still embarrassed at the current situation I was in.

"Oh, I forgot to introduce you to my friends," she said.

I looked around as she pointed them out, seeing four different faces around me. To my left was Jasmine, a black panther, with little streaks of white all over her amazing physique. Sitting beside her was Rebecca, a grey wolf, her muzzle in a cocky smile. To my right, I saw Cynthia, a doe who was wrapped around my arm, nuzzling it so hard that I may develop a rash soon. Right behind her, I saw Johanna, a horse, her brown furred muscles bulging out of her tight shirt.

"Wow, what a wide assortment of friends you have," I said, smiling and chuckling nervously at the uncomfortable situation I was in.

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself! Silly me.... My name is Io," she said, looking away, possibly embarrassed.

"Wait... Io... as in one of Jupiter's moons?" I asked.

"Yes..." Her eyes looked back at me when she said this, but soon looked away, a blush beginning to develop.

"Hmm, interesting...." I mused.

"What? What's interesting?" she asked, her head turning in my direction and leaning in closer with a confused look on her face.

When she got close, without thinking of the consequences of my actions, I reached up to cup her cheek, and stole a kiss.

"How you look nothing like it," I said, smiling at her reaction, which was embarrassment at the stolen kiss.

Soon after introductions were made, we sat and talked, getting to know each other. I learned that Jasmine and Rebecca were a couple (but were giving me odd looks, suggesting that they were just about open to anything), Cynthia was studying to be a dancer at dance school, hoping to be famous, and Johanna was here for support, not really wanting to be here.

I was getting up to leave because I had to get to my job in the morning, when arms grabbed my body and tried to pull me down. I chuckled and explained that I had to sleep and get up for my morning job, working at some run down electronic music store on the edge of town that possibly doesn't even exist to the majority of the townspeople except for those who wander around and the hardcore fans of what we're selling, which range from the top of the charts to underground to everything in between.

As the girls reluctantly released me from their grasp, promising to stop by and chat, I grabbed the helmet that I managed to keep with me throughout all of this and made my way to the exit. All of a sudden, a force pushed me out the door and I stumbled out, managing to trip over my feet and fall, putting my hands out to break my fall and absorb most of the damage. The helmet fell from my grasp and clattered around on the pavement before coming to a stop. I turned and saw that the wolf who was trying to get in Io's pants was standing above me, dried blood on his face looking like the wound healed on his head.

"What the fuck was that, you cockblocker?! I was trying to get a beautiful lady until you showed up, blaring that noise you called "music". Now I have to beat the shit out of you for messing up my chances at her!" He took a step forward and raised his foot back, only to bring it forward and, unfortunately, my stomach was in the way. The force of his kick against my stomach almost made me throw up, but he did manage to knock the wind out of me.

I groaned in pain, recovering for a few moments before I said, "Well, asshole, riddle me this: Why, oh why, did she not want to go with you?! She obviously wasn't fooled by your advances. Maybe it's because she could smell the overused cologne that's trying to hide the obvious smell of your arrogance, dumbass."

That promptly responded with another kick to my stomach and a punch to my face. Man, did that hurt. But, just as I was about to receive another beating, I heard someone come outside to see what the commotion was about.

"Oh god, Chris!"

I recognized that voice. It was Io. I heard footsteps running up to my side, and saw her face, lopsided at my current position with a look of concern etched on my face.

"Hey..." I wheezed out, then coughing out blood, the droplets staining the ground and Io's beautiful face.

"Oh my god, what happened?! Who did this?!!" she said, wiping the blood off her face. She was on the verge of tears at the sight of my crumpled body.

"Heh, I did it," the wolf behind her said, gloating at his triumph over beating the shit out of me. I couldn't help but laugh at his expression, the cocky smile that said "I am the greatest and you know it". Both looked at me, one in confusion and the other in anger. He stepped forward and wrenched Io away from my grasp, sending her away and hitting the pavement. I saw her hitting the ground, fury now coursing through my veins. Never in my life has someone been so disrespectful towards women, except for father. That sent me over.

I slowly got up, ignoring both my body's and Io's complaints about this. I was standing, raised my head to meet his eyes, and spit at his face.

"You're just an arrogant jackass and no one would care if you curled up and died in a gutter," I said, charging at him with a fist cocked back. In a matter of seconds, I was close to him while he was trying to figure out his next move. Time slowed down as I connected my fist to his cheek, seeing the shockwaves roll off of him and spread the energy through his body. Time returned to normal as I saw the wolf roll a few feet away, slowing down to a stop and groaning where he was.

I felt myself moving forward, feeling faint. As I was about to hit the pavement, I felt hands grasp around my chest, holding me back from hitting the ground. Weakly, I turned and saw Io holding me, trying to hold back the water leaking from her eyes.

"Never has anyone done something like that for me twice in one night. You are something else..." she said, leaning in close to my face. I closed my eyes, wanting to rest. That was until soft lips touched mine and caught my attention to the current situation I was in.

I snapped my eyes open to see Io, her face in pure pleasure, kissing my lips with such passion that I couldn't begin to believe that this was true. I mean, I only met her a couple of hours ago and now she's kissing me.

She opened her eyes and, seeing the expression on my face, snapped back up and looked away, embarrassed at the situation we were currently in.

She turned to me and said, "I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me."

I smiled, "That's okay... I was.... pleasantly surprised at this.... and hope for more. Also, can you... take me home... I don't think that.... I can walk there... like this..."

She chuckled, I smiled, then the world faded to black.

I woke up the next morning, looking around my bedroom. I sighed, knowing that at least I was back in my apartment. I looked over to my dresser and saw the helmet from the night before, still not believing the luck I had. I lay back down, smiling and hoping to get some more sleep, seeing the clock and noticed that it was early, when I noticed some weight next to me. I turned my head and saw Io, lying next to me, content at being by my side.

I smiled and wrapped my arms around her. I heard a content purr and felt her arms wrap around my body, holding me in place. I looked at her, noticing the smile on her face, and leaned in close to her and closed my eyes. Sleep soon took hold of me and I began to have pleasant dreams for once in my life, all of them with her in it.

After a few hours, he prepped the last song, selecting his favorite and most precious song. His most known song, the song that everyone instantly knew and would crank their iPods and radios up to hear it.

The song started simple enough, a four count, syncopated beat with hi-hats thrown in. Soon, a single note was playing louder and louder and louder, until it was the only thing heard. It lasted for about eight counts, then silence. Four beats of silence that seemed to last all but eternity. Then, the real beat came in.

That's when everyone flipped the fuck out. If the noise before was regular concert loud, then this was jet engine at close range loud. The beat went on and on for about 32 beats, then a voice was heard.

When all is said and done

When all that is sad has gone

When life is at its highest low

Then all you can do

Is let the music flow...

She flew in, soaring over the crowd and giving high fives as she passed by. When she was done giving the crowd attention, she landed in front of the table, mic in hand, singing her heart out to the crazed fans.

_ Io..._

She still looked beautiful since that day. Her scales still shining after years of touring, keeping them in pristine condition. Her tail lashing to the beat, her body moving to the music. He smiled under the helmet, enjoying that his beautiful wife was enjoying herself with the crowd. At this point, she stopped, cueing him to lay down the solo/breakdown, his fingers flying all over the effects box, so many crazy sounds and beats blasting from the speakers into the audience's virgin ears, making them forever remembering this crazy night.

Soon, she looked back at him and he looked up at her. Even though the helmet was in the way, they both knew that they were staring at each other lovingly, both enjoying themselves and each other's presence. Then, one last chorus was played out and that was the end of the show. Everyone jumped and screamed at them not to leave, saying "we love you" and "don't go" and the occasional "marry me" that was thrown out by some crazed fan.

The DJ stepped back, raising his hands above his head, shaping it into a heart, showing his love for his fans the only way he can.

All of his friends and the stage hands came to his side, held hands and bowed to the audience, as though it was a stage performance, instead of the last stop in a world tour.

When the hysteria died down, the crowd left, discussing the events that took place and deciding what was their favorite moment and song of the night. The stage hands came out and took the stage apart, until it was all a barren spot in a forest outside of town. Everyone gathered their gear, got into their cars, and left for home to sleep the rest of the night.

Except for two.

The DJ and the dragoness were left standing in the spot where the stage was, remembering the concert and the times before, when they were on the road. Neither spoke for about an hour, until the dragoness broke the silence with a whisper.

"Chris, how are you feeling?"

The DJ, Chris, or his stage name, Shock/Rice, stood and pondered this for a few minutes before saying, "I feel... okay. I know that this is the last stop of the tour and I'm happy that this is over and we can go home, but at the same time, I don't want it to be over. I want to still listen to the crowd chant my name, hearing them go crazy over the old and new stuff that blast from those speakers. To hear them say that they love me.... It feels comforting, knowing that they love me and the music that they love to listen to."

It was her turn to be silent, thinking over the words her beloved said. She stills remember the way she was asked to be his.

***

It was at the club that he was a regular performer at. She would come by and listen to him play the music that helped her to fall in love with him. They had been going out for over the past two years and she loved every moment when she was with him. He was sweet, kind, honest, strong; everything she could hope to ask for and more. But what really sealed the deal was his music. It was new but it felt like it you heard it before.

One night, after him playing a few songs, she heard a slow song begin to play. This was different than the other songs that he heard him play. Confused, she looked to the loft and saw him looking straight at her. The screens behind him began to play a slideshow of some sort, in tune to the music. She looked and realized that it was pictures of both her and Chris, one showing their day at the park, Chris holding her lovingly while she was leaning against him and another showed them at the beach, his body covered in sand and sleeping while she was holding a shovel and laughing at his situation.

The show played at her heartstrings, making tears begin to leak out and drop to the floor at this display of total love and affection for her. But that was nothing compared at what was on the screen now.

It was a video of him without his helmet, with his handsome face and those blue eyes that seem to stare into your soul. The music cut off so they can hear what he has to say.

"Hey, Io. We have been going out for the past two years, sharing our lives with each other. I don't regret all the memories we made and I hope that you don't either, but there's something that I've been meaning to ask you. If you would look to your left..."

The screen cut off, causing everyone to look and see that Chris was gone. She turned and looked to her left, seeing him right beside her with his helmet off, like in the video.

"Now, you know that I love you and you know me. We have lived together and shared everything from happy moments together to secrets that no one should know about us. I trust you with every being in my heart, so I know you'll make the right decision when I ask this..."

He lowered himself to one knee, making her gasp in surprise. He looked back up, holding a small black box. He opened it, showing the most beautiful diamond ring that she has ever seen.

"Io, will you marry me?" he asked.

She didn't care that people were watching, she didn't care about all of the flash photography that was going on, she was focused on him and him alone. She scooped up her future husband, gave him a big, romantic kiss and said her answer with the truth pouring out.

"Yes, my love. I will marry you."

***

She was brought out of her train of thought when she felt a hand crawl up into hers and grasped it tight, hoping to never let go.

"Io, I love you and I will never leave your side."

"Nor will I..."

She leaned in and gave him the most passionate kiss to date. He returned the love back tenfold, causing her to melt. Her legs grew wobbly, causing her to fall back. She felt his arms wrap around her and felt his chest against hers. She looked up at those blue eyes shining in the moonlight of the night, causing her to smile, knowing that no matter what happened, she knew that she was okay, as long as he was by his side.

He looked at her face, seeing the smile she was giving him. He knew that smile and loved it. He would do everything he could to see that smile again for the rest of his days. He would make her happy, just to see her smile, knowing it would be worth it. He would never leave her and never abuse her or the love they shared for each other, like his father.

He would be a better man than him, he would make certain of that.

He was still thinking those thoughts, when he was interrupted by a soft voice in his arms.

"Chris..."

"Yes, my love?"

He could see the worry and excitement on her face, wondering what she was about to tell him.

"I... I..."

"Yes?" He pressed her, wanting to know what she wanted to tell him.

"I'm pregnant..."

They were both silent, neither voicing what they were thinking, until she felt him tremble in his arms.

"Chris... is everything alright?" She was worried that she might have caused him to think differently about her. That he might leave her, just like his other father. She was beginning to panic at not hearing anything from her love until she heard a soft sobbing from above.

Chris was crying, tears flowing freely from his face and hitting the ground. She reached up and stroked his cheek.

"Chris, is everything alright?"

He was still crying and she reached up to him and gave a hug of comfort. He wrapped his arms around her and finally spoke.

"Io, how long have you known?"

"I found out just before the show."

He was silent, until he spoke again.

"Io..."

"Yes?"

"I love you. I know you think that I might abandon you, like my father, but don't worry. I'm not going anywhere. I want to be around to see the birth and growth of our child. I'm... happy. I'm so happy for you and for us. We'll have a family..."

She too was now crying, crying at hearing her love talk about how they will have a house where the child will grow. He had all the money they would need with his current tour done. He was going to make it all right.

They pulled away to look at each other, seeing the tears in each other's eyes. They smiled and laughed at themselves for how they looked.

He reached up and held her close and she returned the favor. They both sat like that until sleep called them, pulling them down onto the soft earth with the stars and the moon shining brightly above them. She nuzzled close to him and was soon asleep. He stayed up a little longer, staring at Io and how she slept, rubbing the belly that contained his child, wondering what the future will now hold for him.

After minutes of worrying, he stopped when he felt Io moving closer and wrapped her arms around him. He looked at this and sighed. He couldn't care less about the future. All that mattered was what was in front of him. He remembered his own lyrics that Io sang not too long ago that applied to how he lived his life. He remembered those words as he fell to sleep, wrapping his arms around Io and held her close. He remembered them and would teach his child that lesson as it got older. His last thought, before sleep overtook him and played pleasant dreams again, this time containing both his wife and child in a beautiful home, was the title of their song.

"Let the music flow..." he said out loud before he drifted off into his slumber, waiting for what tomorrow would have in store for the both of them.

PS: So far, I have a crapload of writing ahead of me. Here's what I have so far:

  1. Work on Chapter 5 of Division 42
  2. Work on the teaser and first chapter of a new story arc with Jake Shadow Wolf (both YAY and UGH)
  3. Work with NvrRueger on the first chapter of a new story arc based on my idea that I proposed in ch. 3
  4. Finally, work on another one-shot, a romantic one (in my opinion) based on my current feelings of loneliness and longing for another.

So, yeah....

Anyways, hope to hear from y'all and if ya still feel like you want to be included in any story, add ideas for future stories, or just to chat, please feel free to drop a PM.

Until then, let that music flow, people...
