Chapter Seventeen - Talk the Talk

Sil'ferr

I stood looking at myself in the mirror, I couldn't believe how I looked... I was... well no need to brag. I couldn't wait to see the look on Dixon's face when he saw me... speaking of Dixon... he'd been gone a long time, I hope he managed to get to the bottom of Vivian's depression I mean what's the point in forwarding your idea if you're not going to enjoy it yourself.

I was round at Jennifer's house, she invited me over so we could get straight off after we were ready, but I knew she just wanted to talk since she was excited about going with Foxx.

"You look great Sil'ferr." She said,

"Thanks Jen... do you think Dixon will like it?" I asked,

"Hell yeah... but I think he'll be more interested in who's in it..." She said,

"Awww... that's sweet... I said,

"... and out of it." She giggled.

I gasped a sarcastic gasp and threw a cushion at her.

"Dixon isn't like that really I bet." She said,

"Yeah... he's too bashful... believe me." I said.

We both started giggling, I felt bad laughing at him... but the expression on his face when I mentioned it once... priceless... I don't think he's got it in him.

Dixon

I was sat on the end of Vivian's bed looking at the floor, I couldn't believe what I had just done... of all the time we had together why did it have to be now... I have betrayed Sil'ferr and I couldn't feel any lower than I did right now

As I sat with my head in my hands staring at the floor Vivian came over and sat next to me, she put her arm around my shoulder.

"Are you okay?" She asked,

"Yeah I'm fine... apart from the fact that I'm a bad boy." I replied,

"What do you have to feel bad about?" She asked,

"What do you think?" I said,

"This... this was a momentary lapse in concentration... it's not like we just slept together or anything?" She said,

I looked up at her.

"Nothing happened... okay we got a little frisky... but that was it." She said,

"I shouldn't be even contemplating it... this might've been okay if I weren't with Sil'ferr... it's just so... GAWD!!!" I grumbled on,

"I don't see why you're making such a big deal out of this... people do it all the time..." Vivian said,

"But we're better than that... we know and care that this is wrong." I said,

"I guess your right... I have to stop being selfish." She sighed,

"Selfish?" I asked,

"Yeah selfish... I am really selfish." She said,

"I'm having a hard time understanding that statement..." I said totally confused,

"All I think about these days is you... how I just want you... if I could have anything in the whole world it would still be you... I keep dodging the fact that you love someone else... and not just a girl who you're going out with... its real love... and I guess I'm jealous." She said,

"Jealous? There's a word I never thought I would hear from someone else about me..." I joked,

"I ain't joking... I feel that I would do anything to get you to be with me." She said,

"Oookay... excuse me for wondering if this was even just a little set up?" I asked,

"Yes... I knew Sil'ferr would send you to find out what was up with me, so I played her... and it worked... but you really aren't like other guys Dix... other guys would've just gone with it and then hid it... but you..." She trailed off.

"I don't know what to say... I guess I'm a little guilty for not spotting your feelings for me a long time ago." I said,

"It's my fault as much as it is yours... if I weren't a total coward then we would probably be together now." She sniffed,

"Are you crying?" I asked,

"No... just something in my eye." She said wiping her eyes.

That tears it... I made her cry... what kind of fur am I to make a girl cry... I'll tell you what... a bad fur.

"Just think of it this way... even though I want and hope with all my heart that I will be with Sil'ferr forever... how many high school couples actually stay together forever?" I said trying to console her,

"So your saying if it was us... then we wouldn't be together that long?" She said still crying.

I'm really bad at this if you couldn't tell... I have a unique way of making things worse... and by my guess... anything I say will just make things worse.

"No... that's not what I meant... what I meant was... what did I mean again?" I struggled.

She gave a soft laugh and started smiling again.

"You know... that's the reason I like you... but I have to accept the fact that all you can be to me is a friend... the sooner the better." She said,

"You know there is no force on Earth that can stop us being friends." I said,

"I know." She smiled.

She gave me a little punch in the arm, we smiled and started getting ready again. Maybe things are going to be alright from now on.

Sil'ferr

I was starting to get a little worried, it had bee a long time since Dixon went over to Vivian's house... and I was starting to think that it was a bad idea. I ended up bringing it up in the conversation with Jennifer.

"You know Jen... Dixon's been gone a long time..." I said,

"Yeah... but lemme put it this way Silph, the way Dixon heals wounds... he could be gone for days." She smiled.

I couldn't help but laugh, it wasn't funny but I couldn't help it... I guess I could just picture him trying his best, I guess he may be good at expressing some of his own feelings but when it comes to helping with someone else's he just flops.

"Don't be mean to him... I bet he does a world of good." I said.

Now there's a phrase you don't hear often... 'Doing the world of good' I still have no idea where it came from.

"Silph..." She said waving her hand in front of my face,

"Huh... sorry, just wondering about something." I said snapping back to reality,

"Wondering is a dangerous thing... the imagination is a powerful tool that can lead you to believe the worst... my advice is try not to think too much." She said,

"Okay... I'll try not to." I said,

"Cos I'd hate to see you getting all worked up over nothing." She said,

"Worked up?" I asked,

"I think you're getting slightly stressed over the fact that he's been gone a while... maybe you're thinking that something happened?" She said,

"I wasn't thinking that... but I am now... you don't think something happened do you?" I asked her,

"No... Dixon isn't like that at all... plus Vivian's his best friend... so no way." She said trying to make amends.

Now I was getting worried, I just sat and hoped that when he came through the door everything would be alright.

Chapter Eighteen - Time to Partay

Dixon

Okay so that little escapade about Vivian spilling her feelings for me again is over... I guess things might just get back to normal now, we made a deal that if we were both single by the time we're 30 we'd get together... it was a joke thing but she seems to be taking it to heart... I guess it'll be harmless. Anyway she was finally ready and I'd been home to change myself and we were meeting outside Jen's house, Sil'ferr said she'd be there already so me and Vivian didn't have to stop by her home. As we arrived at Jen's I saw Foxx and Rico waiting outside, they were all dressed up and I felt a little underdressed but they said nothing, and I was grateful. They were however impressed with Vivians outfit.

"Looking good Viv." Rico whistled,

"What he said." Foxx grinned,

"What do you think of it Dix?" Rico asked,

"Ummm... she looks great." I said,

"Thank you boys." She said glancing slightly in my direction, and I felt guilty again.

The front door opened and we heard Jen saying they were coming out, I practically held my breath for this moment if Vivian made this much of an effort to try and impress me I tried to imagine what Sil'ferr would look like but couldn't. We saw Jen come out first and I could see Foxx's face as she did I've never seen a smile that big on his face in my life... he did look really happy and I knew why, she walked over to him and he took her hand and she did a funny little bow and we all chuckled, Sil'ferr's voice came out from behind the doorway and I felt a tad nervous now I could see Jen grinning like a little girl but what at I didn't know, then Sil'ferr appeared and I could feel the gravity increase as I almost fell down... she was unbelievably gorgeous everything around me seemed none existent for a few moments as she walked over.

"So what do you think?" She asked me,

"Grrgble..." I blurted out,

"Ummm..." She looked confused.

I shook my head to clear out the mental block.

"I mean... you look absolutely stunning Sil'ferr." I finally managed to say,

"Thank you Dixon... you look good yourself." She smiled,

"Thanks I made an effort unlike everyday," I smiled nervously,

"You look good everyday Dix." She smiled.

I was half expecting a smart comment from someone but they were all too busy talking to each other to notice us which I was happy about for once. I looked at her again and saw her sapphire blue eyes glinting back at me, I had a feeling things were going to be great tonight.

Sil'ferr

Well Dixons reaction was everything I was hoping for I could see he was struggling to remain stood in place I can't help but giggle inside... if looks could kill I guess Dixon's probably dead by now... I'm not bragging I'm not that shallow but it's nice to feel like this now and again. Dixon looked around I guess he was checking to see if anyone was about to make a comment... there wasn't any coming since they were all too busy conversing between themselves.

"I think this is going to be a good night don't you?" I asked him,

"Yep... we get to be alone too." He grinned,

"Huh..." I blushed,

"Gotchya back." He chuckled,

"Why you..." I punched him in the arm playfully,

"There'll be enough people there... I just hope it's not too cramped." he said,

"We'll get some alone time later if you want to." I said as I walked past him slowly,

"Sure... if you want to as well..." He blushed slightly,

"No messing... sure I wanna dance but I want to be alone with you too especially on a day like this." I blushed myself.

Dixon composed himself quickly and the others began coming over to set off.

"Whatever ma'lady wishes." He said in a English Butler kind of way,

"I say we get going before we miss the start of it." Vivian gestured us to move as she spoke.

The hall was packed as expected, a lot of people I didn't expect to see I did see and I was pretty excited, my first real 'date like experience' with Dixon. As we manoeuvred through the crowd towards where everyone else was waiting for us Irvine was the first to speak up.

"'bout time you guys joined us... hope we didn't pull you away from anything important." He chuckled,

"Nothing we can't wait 'till later to finish." I replied sticking my tongue out cheekily,

I saw Dixon turn away slightly while he flushed a lil but for some reason it didn't instil the same giddy feeling it always did... it felt kinda... weird... maybe even wrong.

As the night passed slowly I took Dixon outside in hoping to find out what was wrong... what I was wondering I hoped would not be true.

"Is something wrong Dixon?" I asked trying to be as gentle as I could,

"Not really..." He replied still looking kinda lost,

"'cos if there is you can always talk to me... i'm here for you." I said placing my hand on his shoulder,

"It's just everything that's happened in the last week or so... the kinda things that'd only happen to a character from a Video Game or a story or something... I mean... does this stuff even happen in real life?" He said,

"Well everyone dreams of exciting things happening to them... you know things out of the ordinary to make them feel like their doing something with their life." I said,

"Yeah... but when that something does happen... what if they want it to 'unhappen' I mean yeah it would be cool... but I don't think i'd REALLY want it to happen... I prefer just living a normal life and hanging out with you guys." He said looking up at the sky,

"You once told me you looked at the night sky... but didn't know why... maybe your future has something to do with it?" I smiled "Like maybe you'll be an Astronaut or an Explorer or something."

He actually chuckled something I was glad for, knowing i'd cheered him up a little definitely made it all worth while.

"You remember me telling you about that weird guy who gave me this." He said showing me the Jewel Necklace again,

"Yeah." I nodded and looked at him,

"It was weird... but I felt as if I knew him... not as in I saw him around before... but as in I really KNEW him... and now I feel quite weirded out by the whole thing... like we're gonna cross paths again." He said with a startled look in his eyes.

For a little while we just stood there without talking, I knew he was trying to work something out so the whole thing could seem more palatable... but I could see that it wouldn't work... whatever was going on didn't seem so easy to comprehend.

The hangar was eerily quiet in the dead of night, the machines stood quiet apart from the life-support machines which kept the Project sleeping peacefully. He stood there and admired it's simplistic beauty... the true reality of the project would soon be revealed and his life's work would be put in motion.

"Soon my child... soon will be your time to rise, and bring a new beginning to this world." he muttered to himself as his cell began to ring, "Dekker... yes, on schedule... everything is set... south eastern shutters will be open for your men to gain entry... I will be leaving in just an hours time, have your men assembled... it happens tonight." Dekker hung up his cell and glanced once again at the sleeping project "Time is short for the creatures that inhabit this city... they will soon know true fear."

He left without another word pressing a button on a keypad to open the doors and shutters that would allow entry.

Dixon

The whole night had left me with more questions than I ever thought possible, every answer I came up with just added more questions too so I decided to put the whole thing on the back burners for a while to at least enjoy the rest of the evening... after all it was supposed to be a party and I had been neglecting Sil'ferr, which I did feel really bad about... while I was worrying about all this crap she was suffering too... she looked forward to tonight and I was blowing it... how could I be such an ass.

"Dixon?" Sil'ferr said quietly.

I jumped inside a little... even though I was running all this inside my head i'd forgotten she was there.

"I'm fine Silph." I smiled "I think i've thought it over enough... hows about we go have some fun, the night is still young."

"Alright, sounds like a plan." She said instantly brightening up.

As she walked back inside I looked back at the sky and told myself no amount of cross-examination would lead me to any answers and the more I pondered it the further away I was from Sil'ferr and that summed it up, i'd rather have Sil'ferr than an answer to a question that probably didn't have one. On that note I turned and went inside.

"Where the hell have you guys been... we thought you'd gone home." Vivian growled at me,

"We were just outside... enjoying the cool breeze." I said,

"I bet you were enjoying something... and i'm not saying the breeze eh... wink wink." Irvine grinned.

As everyone laughed the weight of these questions disappeared as I knew whatever happened at least we'd always be friends and times like this would never change.

"No, you want something like that to happen so you can rub it in for weeks." I shot back playfully punching his arm,

"And Dixon scores another point over the 'Immovable Irvine' I think that's 2-0." Vivian mock commentated,

"How is it that you've turned into... well... me? What gives?" Irvine grinned back again,

"Hanging around you it just rubs off..." I said,

"Oooh." Foxx mock winced,

"3-0" Vivian laughed,

"Okay okay enough of this bravado." Irvine laughed and gave me a big noogie,

"Aaaaaaaaah... okay okay I give... just quit it." I laughed quite painfully.

This kinda thing continued for a few more hours and the party started to wind down and we all left full of cheer... things seemed back to normal and I was happy for it... it felt as if things had finally fallen back into place. We all started heading back to our homes waving good bye to Irvine, Foxx and Jen. And again it was just the three of us walking alone... and i've never felt as uncomfortable as I did right then... I mean they both liked me and I could feel tension in the atmosphere... I silently cursed whatever power overshadowed us for putting me in this predicament. Well until something took me by surprise.

"It's been a great night guys but I gotta be getting back now... See ya's tomorrow." Vivian smiled and waved to us.

I watched as she walked away from us... and thought it was kinda odd, she didn't seem too broken up as earlier... well until she was about to turn the corner and made a 'phone' shape with her hand and walked out of sight. Sil'ferr laughed quietly... and I was still dumbfounded.

"Forget that... you gonna walk me home." She asked,

"Of course I will, if my lady will give me the pleasure." I smiled,

"Oh sir... how could I decline such an offer." She giggled.

As we walked along she nestled in closer to me and I thought that our first date couldn't have gone better. As we arrived at her house I was about to say goodnight when she took my hand.

"You wanna come in for a while... mom and dad are at work tonight and I don't wanna be all alone." She said looking a little flushed.

I knew what she was getting at... but I didn't want to jump into something so darn fast... but I decided to agree if only to keep her company until later.

"Okay Silph." I smiled.

He sat in the helicopter circling over OmegaTech's Headquarters building and grinned a wide grin as he reached for a cigar.

"Are all the men in place?" He asked,

"All squads are ready to breach on your command Sir." The Lieutenant responded,

"Excellent... in little under an hour my plan will be set in motion." He grinned more as he lit his cigar and took a long drag, letting it out in one puff "This is my day."

Sil'ferr

I didn't know what was going through my head when I asked Dixon to stay with me but what surprised me more is that he said he would... I wasn't expecting him to agree and he caught me by surprise, not that my heart didn't want him to be here... cos it does, more than I could ever imagine, but now that he is I dunno what I want from him, it's so confusing.

"So Silph what's your mom and dad doing tonight anyways?" Dixon asked,

"They had to work... mom was on call at the hospital and dad is in charge of security at OTi." I said,

"That's a pretty important job... well it's what my dad says anyway, they seem to be friends too... your dad and mine I mean." He said,

"You've met my dad?" I asked kinda confused as to when,

"Yeah, he stopped by my house a while back, had to talk to my dad about something or other I dunno." He replied shrugging his shoulders, "He said you've mentioned me a lot to them."

"Umm... sure I have." I said feeling quite flushed,

"And just what kinda things have you been telling your dad?" He said with a coy smile,

"Just that your an great friend, a wonderful guy... and a great lover..." I laughed at the last bit,

"Hey now cheeky, don't go jumping the gun yet." He laughed too,

"I'd never say anything like that to my dad... or my mum, it's something i'd keep to myself." I said shyly,

"You'd keep it to yourself? Why I thought all girls shared intimate things with their girl friends... Vivian will be expecting a full report my guess is... that is what she meant with the hand signal right?" He asked,

"Well yeah, that doesn't mean I will blab everything to her outright... I have her feelings to take into consideration, since I know how she feels about you and it would be kinda heartless to go telling all kinds of secrets like making out with you to her." I said,

"You make a good point..." He replied,

"'sides we haven't gotten that far yet... or have we?" I said as I stood up.

He was looking flushed as I took his hand and lead him to my room, I had no doubt tonight would be special.

Chapter Twenty - Intimate Moments

The hangar was filled with the sounds of men scrambling up the metal staircases and across the metal catwalks getting into position around their target. Two soldiers approached the CO with one of the security guards half conscious, the CO took a long drag from his cigar and turned to face them.

"Anymore of you around at this time of night Captain?" He said exhaling with the words,

_The guard remained silent knowing full well what was going to happen... _

"The General asked you a question maggot!" The soldier said as he struck the guard in the stomach with a swift kick,

The General bent down in front of the guards face took another drag from his cigar and blew it in his face.

"We can do this the easy way... or we can do it my way Captain, your choice."

The guard captain thought on these words for a while and thought of the best logical reply.

"Fuck you... sir." He said with a noticeable hint of bitterness.

The General smirked at the remark and stood up again took a last drag from his cigar, exhaled with a sigh as he dropped it to the floor. As he extinguished the cigar with his boot heel he unholstered his sidearm pointed it at the guard and pulled trigger all in a swift second motion. As the guard slumped down to the floor dead before he hit the ground one of the soldiers walked over to the General and handed over an ID card.

"Looks like 'former' security captain Aurora will help us after all... not that he needed to before anyway" He chuckled at his own remark, some of the nearby soldiers added their own quiet laughter to the comment also, "You can use this and the good Doctors password to activate this thing can't you?" he asked his tech expert,

"It'll take a few minutes but it's doable sir." The tech replied,

"Good, cos we got 5 minutes and I want us clearing out of here, in the birds in 10 no more understood." He ordered.

The soldiers all nodded in acknowledgement and the General started to walk away still smiling with himself as he stepped over the body of the deceased guard captain.

Sil'ferr

It was weird having Dixon in my room... I wanted to do something special but didn't know how far to push things, could I stretch all the way or was it too soon for this kind of thinking? All I know is I wanted him and I knew he wanted me too... maybe i'll find out soon enough. We were sitting on my bed talking about random things and well I guess trying to skirt around the subject that was on both our minds... I just wish I wasn't this nervous.

"It's been a great night so far hasn't it?" He asked the nervousness apparent in his voice,

"Sure has... the snow actually looked real too... wonder how they did it?" I said not really wanting an answer,

"I guess it's one of those secrets the art department will never reveal." He joked,

"I wonder if it always feels like this the first time?" I finally said,

"I guess it's always gonna feel weird the first time... no matter how long you put it off." he replied,

"You're right... it's daft." I said with a sigh.

Without another moments hesitation I tackled him down to the bed, the surprise in his face made me smile inside and all of a sudden I didn't feel nervous anymore, maybe a lil 'butterfly stomach' but otherwise okay... Dixon also seemed to loosen slightly.

"My squishy." I said with a grin,

"Just be careful not to squish to hard... I tend not to spring back into place." He joked.

As I leaned closer to his face our noses met in the middle and I tried to stifle a laugh but couldn't help myself, I also noticed he did the same. I guess all the tension that we built up was finally gone and we could let ourselves go at much to our relief. He smiled at me.

"Hi there."

"Hey handsome." I smiled back,

"Did I ever tell you your eyes are beautiful Sil'ferr?" He asked,

"I believe you always think it... even if you don't say it." I said still gazing at him,

"You have beautiful eyes gorgeous." He said starting to turn red,

"So do you, I just wanna eat them." I grinned,

"Maybe later." He returned, "Lets concentrate on one thing at a time... shall we babe."

I couldn't help but blush at that... it was the first time anyone had used that on me and I never expected him to be the first to use it. Our noses finally parted ways so our lips could meet up at last, the anticipation of this moment had heightened the i'll say 'mood' and it made it feel a whole lot better than before. As we shared a long and passionate kiss he started to stroke my hair, softly caressing it as if it was the only thing in the world that mattered. I held onto his face with both my hands and softly brushed at his cheek fur, his hands moved from my hair down my back and to my waist, I could feel my heart pounding at my rib cage as if wanting to break free from it's prison inside my chest. I could feel more need building up inside me, I wanted more passion and more love from him as I could get to make me feel what I wanted to feel at this moment, but I knew I had to consider that Dixon wasn't ready for this... so I broke the kiss.

"You think this is too much... We can stop if you wanna." I said not really wanting to stop.

Dixon pushed me off him and swapped places so he was on top now... this surprised me too, it was making me feel giddy.

"If you really wanna just say so now... I don't mind." He smiled at me,

"Hell no keep going squishy." I grinned like a 5 year old.

Once again he kissed me with the same heated passion I loved from him and could do nothing to stifle the warm fuzzy feelings deep within me, I wanted more from him but was restrained by my own self-control to let him decide on his own. I let out an inner squeek when I felt his tongue on my own... I was really loving this, so much in fact that I hadn't realised I let my hands wander as the brushed through the fur on his lower back, I could feel the same giddy excitement returning. My hands worked their way up his back taking his shirt with them, I could feel his face burning red and felt myself smile inside. I wrapped his shirt around his neck to hold him close to me so he couldn't escape... he had a cute little stripe of white fur on his chest from the neck down... I wondered how far down and blushed furiously which of course he noticed.

"Something wrong sweety?" He asked,

"No... it's nothing... just a thought in my head." I said still blushing hard,

"You worry me you might be turning into Irvine." He laughed,

"Hanging around him... it rubs off." I grinned making a reference to his past statement on the matter,

"I knew it... it really does, care to share your thought?" He asked.

I covered my face with his shirt to attempt to hide my redder than red face an shook it around in a fast 'no' fashion, I could hear him chuckle at this.

"You naughty girl... having such thoughts." He grinned,

"I can't help it, you make me feel like this... and it feels soooooo good." I said truthfully,

"I never thought i'd hear that..." He said looking genuinely shocked,

"Now that i'm all red in the face, it seems only right that you should too." I said flushing at my own comment,

"What do you mean Sil'ferr?" He asked looking a little confused and nervous at the same time.

I reached round to my back and pulled the zipper of my dress down and I could see already my plan was working as his face flushed as fast as mine had. I stood with my back to him and he came and held me, wrapping his arms around my waist, I craned my head to the side so he could have easy access to my neck which he kissed softly and slowly sending a tingle all over my body leaving me feeling warm inside. Unable to contain myself anymore I let my dress drop to the floor and to my surprise again Dixon wasn't all hands on... he definitely knew how to control himself even with my half-naked body in front of him which I found most comforting. I endured his sensuous neck kissing for a little while longer before turning back to face him.

"I love you Sil'ferr." He said before I got chance to speak,

"I love you too." I said feeling the warm feeling return again.

'If this is love then I don't want any other feeling for the rest of my life' I thought as I went back to kiss him.

We slowly fell back onto the bed again lovingly caressing one another with a touch only lovers can, I could tell he was feeling a little braver when I felt his hands slide down my back further and further. I felt the thrill of what could be coming when a loud noise ripped through the night.

"What the hell was that?" Dixon said,

"I dunno... it didn't sound very good though." I replied.

Dixon looked out of the window towards the distance and his eyes went wide, I looked at him a moment and then followed his gaze to see the dark cloud that can only be caused by an explosion.

"Oh my God!" I cried,

"That's the direction of OmegaTech Headquarters..." Dixon said quickly pulling his shirt back on.

With the mood of passion now quickly evaporating I couldn't help but notice my lack of attire... trying to cover my self from Dixon's view I grabbed some clothes out of my closet and put them on, fortunately he wasn't paying attention to me at the time seeming to be more concerned about the explosion at OmegaTech... OMG... DAD!!!

"DAD!!!" I cried out,

"What?" Dixon looked at me with a puzzled expression which quickly turned to one of worry, "Your dad was working tonight..."

"He was... I gotta know if he's alright." I said feeling all the breath in my body escape.

Suddenly there were more explosions coming from roughly the same direction, Dixon carried on watching the distance as I picked up the phone and dialled my dads office number... with no answer.

"Dixon... I have to find out if my dad is okay... I gotta go there." I said feeling the icy stab of pain in my gut at what I feared might be true.

"Normally I wouldn't be running towards the path of an explosion... but I guess I can always make an exception today... not exactly normal this is it." He said trying to sound brave but I could tell he was in the same position as me as his father worked there too.

We set off towards OmegaTechs Headquarters not knowing what we would find when we got there, I just hoped I would find my dad safe and this was just a bad dream.

Chapter Twenty One - Escape from Gigotropolis

Dixon

It had taken us a little while to make our way to the city area from the suburbs and we could already see the extent of the damage caused not only to OmegaTech as we first thought but to the entire city... buildings lied in ruins, debris covering the street, people fleeing... or what was left of people fleeing, there were also many bodies lying on the ground... I felt sick inside.

"Oh my God! What is happening?" Sil'ferr asked not really as a question,

"I couldn't tell you... this damage looks like it was done by a bombing raid or something... but we're not at war..." I began to say as a loud shriek pierced the air as if stabbing our ears with sharp needles.

As I looked down the street I suddenly felt the fear most people only get when they're small and afraid of closet monsters, I looked and saw a HUGE... thing. Looking kinda like a cross between animal and machine a cyborg kinda thing and it was tearing up the city, stepping on fleeing citizens and causing more mayhem than anything I could of possibly imagined. What was worse if it continued to destroy things in it's immediate vicinity we would have a bigger problem than the creature.

"Sil'ferr..." I said grabbing her shoulder,

She looked at me and through the fear in her eyes nodded, "I know."

"We have to go... if that thing is doing what I think it is then it's gonna knock down the Nuclear Power Plant... and we don't wanna be inside the city limits when it does." I said trying to drive the point home,

"But... my..." She started,

"I know... mine is too... but we have to assume they're doing the same as everyone else and hightailed it out of here, I know it sounds heartless of me but we can't stop to search for them now, we HAVE to go... now." I said holding her face in my hands.

I could see the tears forming in her eyes but she nodded in agreement... I knew that this might be an action that ended our relationship but to me our lives were more important than our relationship at this moment in time, getting Sil'ferr to safety was my number one concern.

As we headed for the city limits we saw some military presence around, and I was glad to see that something was being done. I decided to go and speak with the soldiers to find out what we were supposed to do but as we drew nearer more people appeared way ahead of us waving their arms to signal rescue, however they were gunned down by the Jeeps gunner. It hit me like a cannonball to the gut, the army weren't here to help us that was for sure... they must've been the cause of this, Sean was right... someone had hijacked the project and unleashed it on the city. I led Sil'ferr through the winding maze of debris littering the streets until we came across our school, and to my knowledge was built with a shelter under it which meant there was going to be others there... hopefully others would've had that idea and would be waiting with a plan. As we arrived I saw a mass of people assembled in the courtyard with soldiers standing in front and around also, Sil'ferr hit the wall with her back and slid down to the floor obviously physically and emotionally drained as I took a peek. The 'prisoners' in the courtyard were all human and the soldiers were escorting them to large transports... guess they were here to help after all.

"Sil'ferr... seems the soldiers are here to help after all." I said still gasping for air,

"I dunno... I have a feeling we're not..." She started to say as we heard screaming from inside the building itself,

"Wait here a sec... i'll go and look." I said getting shakily to my feet,

"Don't leave me." She clung to me with a surprisingly strong grip,

"I won't leave you here... I promise, i'll just be a second." I said as I headed over to the buildings entrance.

As I crept inside I heard more of the screaming and crying, but it didn't prepare me for the sight I was about to see. Furs everywhere all centred in the great hall and I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that this wasn't roll call. A moment later a soldier probably an officer of some sort snapped his fingers and pointed in front of him and a couple of other soldiers hauled someone up in front of him... it was Vivian.

"Oh Shit..." I said silently.

_ The soldier pointed at her and then the rest of the gathering which to my horror also contained Foxx, Irvine and Jen. They had probably refused to abandon their friend and were cast out by those evacuating the other humans, he then stroked Vivians hair with the muzzle of his pistol which she batted away with the look of defiance she was famous for, he then struck her across the face which she immediately responded by spitting in his. Not taking this insult too lightly he pointed the gun at Vivian... and pulled the trigger sending her flying backward a little ways._

"NO!!!" I cried out.

Not a smart move as 5 of the soldiers turned in my direction and started shooting at me. "Oh Fuck!" I thought as bullets narrowly missed shredding me into pieces. As I got outside I could hear the other soldiers firing onto what I could only guess as the crowd they had gathered, my heart sank down to my feet as I picked Sil'ferr off the floor and started to run again. Everything in my life that I loved was being taken away one by one... my mum, my dad, my friends... Vivian... Sil'ferr was all I had left and I wasn't about to lose her too, we were getting out anyway we could. As I knew it the river was the fastest way out of the city limits and all we had to do was cross the bridge and be home free, not time to rest, no time to mourn we had to get out.

We saw more of the destruction as we headed further and further noticing that the number of fur bodies on the ground was significantly higher than human corpses... this wasn't just an attack... it was genocide, Furs were being targeted... humans were acceptable losses. As we approached the bridge the creature cyborg thing had put in a second appearance but we would be out of the city soon and could put as much distance between us and thing as possible.

"Keep going for the bridge Silph... don't look back." I shouted.

Sil'ferr was a far better runner than me, which was fine with me the further she was ahead of me the less likely she would come to harm. She finally made it across the bridge as I had gotten halfway, the creature let out another high pitched shriek which caused me to tumble and grip my ears... I swear they were bleeding by now. After rising to my feet I stumbled backwards and hit the railing with my back, as I shook my head to clear it I heard a whining noise coming closer and closer with each second, I cleared my head just in time to see a missile flying towards the bridge "Oh Shit!" I thought as I grabbed the rail and vaulted over a second before the missile hit, the explosion catapulted me into the river where I struggled to keep myself afloat as I was carried away... the last thing I remember was Sil'ferr calling my name.

"DIXON!!!"

Chapter Twenty Two - Aftermath

Non-Specific

"... sources are telling us the disaster hit Gigotropolis in the late hours of last night centred around central, eastern and southern areas of the city."

"...Military and local service crews have been sifting through the debris for any signs of life here in Gigotropolis, the rescue crews are trying to remain optimistic about survivor counts but the amount of dead already taken away leaves little hope there will be any."

"... military rescue workers are saying that the survivors if any are all under the delusion that they were attacked by a giant creature although no reports of such a creature has been filed, military scientists are working on the problem."

"... finding a survivor in the ruins of Gigotropolis is slim to none but some people have been pulled from the debris and from around the outskirts as well, we are told they tried to flee the city when they believed the Nuclear Power Station here was going critical... luckily it did not.

"Hey... over here... bring a stretcher... I found one."

The medic dragged a body out of the water and laid it on the ground in front of him while he checked for signs of life.

"This ones alive... really banged up but he'll live, get the meds we'll bring him round and get him to ICU immediately." He said to another.

After giving the survivor some medication he started to come round.

"How many fingers am I holding up buddy?" He asked.

The survivor said nothing but closed his fist so only 1 finger was showing.

"Good lad... we're gonna get you patched up in no time, just hang in there kid." He said as he escorted the survivor to the awaiting transport.

Lying in the back of the ambulance I started to think about everything that had happened... all my friends and family were gone... Gigotropolis would never be the same again. The more I thought about these truths the more it hurt inside... Sil'ferr was still out there somewhere and hopefully she was safe. The only thing I knew for sure was that this was all planned by someone... and that someone... was going to pay.
