The Marine, and Quarantine
This is a very spine tingling story for me. I'm fidgetting in my bed as I write. It may not seem scary but I'm writing it with a sense of excitement. Actual inspiration has struck after such a long time. Thank Inferno The Fire Ant! This story is strictly a horror story. If you can't stand the feeling that you think something is watching you, then DO NOT READ THIS!!!!! It gave me shivers. And I wrote it.
Jason grabbed his pistol and M4. Today's mission was into a castle that had been found in the undergrounds of the northern states. It seems there was evidience of life once being there but it was all wiped out shortly after it was populated by some unknown force. He was to go in, find out what and get out with as much info as possible. Jason walked into the hunvee with his five other team mates and the vehicle rumbled off down the road into the restricted area. The site had been found after a v ery large explosion went off. It was a new bomb that was the size of a brick. The explosion being that of a mile's radius. Big for such a small device. The explosion revealed a large air pocket directly under it. Lots of glowing crystals and trees were there to provide oxygen.
"Ey, comrade.", said one of his team.
Jason looked up, "Huh? What?"
He went over to his team mate's side and she showed him an image of what had been discovered not but fifty seconds ago. It looked like a statue of a really creepy creature. Though most of it was degraded and broken so it wasn't scary.
"Well sally. I gotta say. That might be their fabled god.", Jason said.
"Well, love. We'll see won't we?"
She gave him a kiss and he smiled, sitting back down in his spot. The humvee stopped shortly after. The doors opened and they all got out, guns at their sides. A bunch of bodies covered in bloody blankets were scattered across the field.
"What is this?", jason asked.
A scientist turned to him.
"O thank god! we need your help. There is something in there. In the castle. While we were in the castle they attacked all-", the scientist started convulsing, his back arched and blood poured out of his mouth. Once he finally fell to the ground an appendage that looked very much like a tail ripped out of his back and stabbed wildly at the first person it hit, killing one of Jason's team. Everyone let off a round of ammunition into the body. whatever it was inside of the scientist, it was dead now.
Five left...
"What the hell was that?", Jason demanded.
"I have no clue sir. This is newest of any of the dead subjects from earlier. whatever did that to all the others must have done this to him. I need too get out of here!", the scientist said.
The scientist ran into the humvee and they drove off, leaving the five marines the only things left alive.
"Well team. That was very much one of our best mates on this team. I say, we go in their, find out what it is then nuke the damn place!", Jason announced.
Sally put her hand around his.
"We shall kill those damn fuckers. And we will make them pay. John was a great dragon and comrade. We shall avenge him or die trying.", Sally said.
Jason took his hand to his belt where he took out a radio.
"Sir, we have a very grave situation here. I just watched one of my own team mates get killed by a damn creature that I have never heard of or seen. I would really like to proceed with a command to blow this place to hell in my abilities, sir!", jason radioed in.
After a long pause the commander's voice came on.
"Jason, if I hadn't seen it done myself I would say no. But after seeing it happen first hand, curse that damn scientist, I give you permission to turn that site into a pit of molten rock!", he said.
"Much obliged sir. I would like to have a ten megaton nuke ready within the hour. I want nothing to survive. Even if we all die, I want you to send the nuke if I don't reply within twenty four hours, sir.", Jason said.
"A ten megaton nuke, You are looking at a castle the size of Rhode island. I will have a thirty eight megaton nuke ready with ten hours, firing if no reply in 24 hours. Good luck marine."
The radio went silent and he put it back on his belt. Jason heard a little scritch not ten feet away and saw a black figure that was very much like a parasite slowly crawl from a rock behind sally.
"Sally! Don't move!", he said.
He aimed his pistol at the black creature, firing at a very high speed. The creature dropped dead and a loud scream came from the distance.
"What the hell was that? Wait. Every body move! Get to cover! Hide!!", Jason commanded.
The ground started rumbling and it parted way for a large creature unseen for it was under ground. Everyone made a break for the nearest thing to stand on. All found a rock except for one person. Maria kept running to a large rock but didn't make it in time, a tendril lined with barbs shot from undergound and into her chest. She stopped and fell. The tendril retracted, bringing her body into a sort of opening where it was ripped apart and devoured by some huge beast, the rest of the body still underground. The hole which the mouth made closed up and all movement ceased to exist.
Four left...
"Lets try not to lose another. Sally, you ok?", Jason asked.
"Yeah, something bit me though.", Sally replied.
Jason spread his wings and flew to where she was. He looked at the large gash on her arm there were indeed long teeth that bit through her scales and skin. Jason wrapped it up with a gauze. She winced slightly, unlike her for even such a big wound.
"Sally. Whats wrong?"
"I...Don't know. We need to keep going though.", Sally said.
Jason nodded and started along a pathe made by fallen rocks. They all made it to a large opening where there were three hallways. All of them identical and all leading into the deep darkness. Sally leaned against a column and readied her gun.
"Jason. I feel weak. You need to go on.", she said.
"No. I can't leave you. remember. We are mates to stay as mates together.", Jason refused.
"You know I'v e been through worse. Just go. I'll be fine.", Sally said.
Jason looked into her eyes. He gave her a long kiss.
"You better be alive when I come back. Team, through the right one first.", Jason commanded.
They all went along with his orders. Sally slumped down with her back against them and had her gun ready, pointed towards the entrance of the cave. The other three went through the first door, going in a straight line to another area. But something was wrong. They were back where they started. And Sally disappeared.
"Amy. How long were we in that hall?", Jason asked.
"Not even fiften seconds.", she answered.
Jason pointed down the hall he came from.
"We go the other way then."
They went back and the same thing, no Sally.
"SALLY~!!! Whare are you! Sally!!!", Jason screamed out.
"What the hell is going on?!", Robbie said.
Amy pointed down the hall in the middle and it was illuminated, Sally on the other side, staring at them.
"There she is sir!"
Jason turned and ran toward Sally, but before he got to her she went to the left. e was only ten feet away, and he got there two seconds later. She was gone, but the next room was different. He looked around.
"What the hell is this?", Jason asked.
_ 'This is my home.',_ a voice said.
The voice was feminine, and mixed with Sally's. Jason looked to where it came from and saw Sally standing on top of a fallen column. She turned around and walked forward, disappearing into the shadows. The two other marines followed behind him.
"Are you ok sir? You've been ahead of us for about ten minutes now.", Amy asked.
"This place is...It is off. Not normal even the slightest. There is some unholy force here. And being a christian priest back a few years, I can feel it in my blood.", Jason said.
He took his cross necklace out and it turned to dust, floating away by a sudden strong wind. Jason fired down the corridor and only heard the echo of his shots bounce of a metal wall. He lowered his gun and looked back to where he last saw Sally.
"Who else heard that voice?", He asked.
"What voice sir? Are you feeling alright?", Robbie asked.
Jason looked at the wolf.
"I'm fine. But this is no ordinary place. Neither holy nor hell demonics are at work here. This is...Fear's work. No...It has no name. This is what resides in the back of everyone's mind. No one has felt it before except for the people here. And for it, they have died. We must hurry. But first. Who are you?", Jason said.
"I am Robbie Sientai the four-"
"Shh!!", shushed Jason.
'I am the darkness, that which resides in the hearts of every living creature. The kind that does not get any recognition or action in one's life', the voice whispered.
"Did you hear that Amy?", Jason asked.
She shook her head, no. Jason looked at Robbie. He shook his head, no, as well. Jason held his rifle tightly in his hands.
"Follow me."
Jason lead the way, after Sally, coming to a large room. There were no doors. A large black beast dropped from the endless high ceiling, landing with a loud thud. It got up on all fours. It was a large black blob that had humongous white fangs and rows of razor sharp teeth. The legs were well muscled but blurry. The shape undefined as any animal any of the marines had ever seen. It had no eyes though. Only a set of solid ears. The only thing not blurry besides the teeth. Unable to tell if it had skin or fur. The light that illuminated the room came from nowhere, as if not existing from a light source. Jason slowly aimed his M4 at it's head, ready to fire then Amy shot off a few rounds. They all missed and the beast was apon her. It ripped her insides out of her body, throwing blood all over Jason and Robbie. Amy was still alive the entire time though. The beast made quick work of tearing her organs out and before it ripped open her heart and lungs it bit down on her head, melding itself and Amy's remains into the floor. Jason and Robbie both let out breaths they were holding and started breathing short ragged breaths. There was rarely anything that scared marines. And this scared these two marines enough to make them think twice about going forward. They both wished to go back. But true to his mission Jason looked around. The room now had three new entrances. Sally standing in the center of them. she had an innocent smile.
Three left...
"Why are you doing this? Who are you? What have you done with Sally?!", Jason asked.
Sally giggled.
"You see. You are in my home. My nest. so you have chosen to play with me. I've been having fun so far.", her voice tied with a creepy metallic, sweet voice.
Sally walked into the darkness of the hall on the right.
Jason turned to Robbie and witnissed him pull out his gun and put it to his head, breathing very quick and shaky breaths.
"I can't take it anymore. I'm sorry Jason but you are on your own.", Robbie said.
Jason reached out to grab the gun but Robbie pulled the trigger. His body fell limp on the ground. A loud screatch was heard in the direction they had come from. Jason began running down the hall Sally went down. the next ten rooms he went through, Sally ran ahead of him. As if in a fun motion. the beast behind him could be heard screaching as it neared closer and closer to him. Sally stopped all of a sudden in a small three way. She looked at Jason then frowned.
"Where is the other one? He was going to join us next.", She said, her voice with that creepy tie.
The screatches stopped and so did a slithering sound not far from Jason. Jason thought carefully.
"Please. Can I speak to my mate one last time...Please?", he begged.
A painful lump in his throat had formed. He was scared, tired, and missed his mate's voice alone.
"But you have this whole time.", she said.
"No! That is not MY Sally. That is you controlling her.", Jason yelled.
Sally's mouth opened wide, abnormally wide, and a voice played as if from in a deep hole with smooth sides.
"Jason! Help me please! I'm scared! Jason!"
sally's mouth slammed shut, a smile on her face.
"There you go.", her voice tied with that same metalic sweet voice.
She ran to the left hallway and disappeared. Jason ran after her, coming to a room where there was a small pedestal in the center of the huge room. It was at least big enough that it's own radius was that of a fottball field's length. In the center the large pedestal was a collection of living spines. They curled and uncurled. Sally stood in the middle of it all. Another Sally stood ten feet from Jason.
"Go ahead. I have been through her memories. She loves you. I wish to see how far this love will get you to. I want to see how long you will last. You can take her out of her. Just follow the small staircase downwards and you should be back outside the castle.", she said.
Jason didn't say a word. He worked up all his courage and walked to the pedestal, jumping at each tuch the spines made on his body and picked up Sally's sleeping form. The other sally disappeared with a loud maniacal laughter filling the room. A set of stairs followed up from the ground and went up into the darkness after five steps. e hurried up, appearing outside once again. Sally moved her arm up to her lover's head. Jason stopped and looked at her, freezing all movement. Her eyse were pure red. Her mouth unfolded into a set of four tendrils that latched onto his head and a set of black fangs. She pulled him down, sinking her bike deep into his head.
None left...
The four other marines joined up outside, all without a scratch on them or their unifroms. Jason got up and took out his radio.
"Sir...I would like to cancel the strike. I killed what was controlling them. None of them walk the planet.", he slowly said.
"Good. What about the others?"
"They are all fine. We will be back within two hours."
He dropped the radio and all six of them sprinted off, their eyes all pure red, all of them wearing a smile on their face.
