A Taste for Something Different
Chapter One
I sat down at a table towards the back of the dining hall away from the crowds of furs, sat down my plate and pulled my large tail into my lap before sitting. I hadn't paid much attention to what I got on my tray or how much I had paid for the meal. I was finding it hard to pay attention to everything today. Usually I was on top of everything because I was attending the college on a scholarship, but at the moment school was the farthest thing from my mind.
I was going on a scholarship because I had been an unexpected birth and my father hadn't planned on or wanted, so there was no college fund for me. My parents had met at a party my father had went to about a week after his divorce from his wife, the mother of my two older brothers. One thing led to another and I was conceived, though my father didn't know until it was around the time for me to start middle school when my mother was finally able to find him. She pretty much dumped me on him and took off, so I don't really have any good memories of her.
Because of all that I've always been a bit of a burden to my dad and we've never really had a decent father son relationship. Well, that and another reason. My dad is really big on being a pure breed and it was only reason he married his wife in the first place, he wanted pure breed kids. I say this because while my dad is a pure German shepherd the fur he knocked up was a Red Fox.
So yeah, I'm a mix between the two, a hybrid, I have the build of a shepherd but I'm shorter, my muzzle is smaller, and my tail is large and fluffy. As if that wasn't bad enough, my fur is a dark auburn color and my tummy is stark white but I still have Shepherd markings. So I'm pretty much left of center when it comes to what he expected in a pup, kit, whatever. I've got too many identity issues to count but my brothers have always been good about it, I just wish I could get my dad to accept me.
A plate clattering down across from me drew my attention. On the other side of the table stood my best friend Crystal, she was a calico cat and had the softest fur I'd ever felt. I like soft things, so sue me. We'd been friends for a long time and I knew I could rely on her for anything. At the moment though, Crystal didn't look too happy with me. Her arms were crossed in front on her and she looked annoyed.
Sitting down she said nothing and just looked at me. After a few awkward moments of sitting in silence she sighed and leaned forward to give me one of her signature "truth stares", something she only did when she felt like someone was keeping something from her,
"Well?" She asked impatiently.
I squirmed in my seat and made a last ditch effort to evade the inevitable.
"Well what? Nothing's wrong to so don't give me that look. No one's picking on me, I'm not failing anything, and everything's been pretty mellow lately. So there's nothing for you to nag about." I rushed out while picking at my food. I always get my least favorite foods when I'm zoned out.
"Don't even." Crystal said pointing one pink manicured claw in my direction. "Just because we don't share any classes this semester doesn't mean that I don't have eyes everywhere keeping tabs on you. Jesse told me that during chorus class, which I know is your favorite by the way, the professor had to keep correcting you and telling you to sing louder. That's not like you so I know there has to be something bothering you. Plus you have pineapples on your tray when you're allergic to them."
"Done in by a fruit." I mumbled as I pushed my plate away.
"Well? What is it? Did your dad say something to you?"
"You can stop freaking out, it's nothing bad." Sighing I checked to see if the coast was clear and then revealed the problem. "Last night I was on my computer looking for stuff to...you know...get relief, and I found this site on hybrids and..." I started fiddling with my tail, something I do when I'm really nervous. "The site also had cross species stuff. Normally I don't look at that kind of thing because if my dad caught me...you know."
"Get to the point!" Did I mention she was impatient? "You got off on foxes didn't you?" She stated too loudly for my liking.
"Who gets off on foxes?" Keith asked sitting down next to me and tossing his bag on the table. Keith was a ram who had appointed himself as my protector back in high school when idiots would pick on me for being a hybrid.
"Keith how nice of you to join us, and I see you're not eating anything again." Crystal chastised. "Just because you have to stay in shape for sports doesn't mean you can't eat food." Keith opened his mouth to respond but was cut off by Crystal. "Crappy protein bars and shakes don't qualify as real food. Rainer and I were having a private discussion about private matters."
Keith looked back and forth between us then, ignoring Crystal said "You okay? Is someone bothering you again? No matter what anyone says you are who you are. Don't let Crystal or anyone else decide who you are for you okay?" He said completely seriously. I have awesome friends.
"Hey! I'm not deciding anything for him. I was here first." Crystal grumbled before flashing me a toothy grin.
"Look, I don't want this to turn into a public forum or something." I whined wringing my tail between my paws. "It's nothing really...i don't want to talk about it so can we talk about something else. Keith, I saw on facebook that you pulled your Philosophy grade up. Way to go!"
It was a pathetic attempt to change the subject I know but my friends never pushed me when I didn't want to talk about something. They changed the conversation over to classes and grades without any fuss. It was the Spring semester of my sophomore year of college. It was hard at times but for the most part I would rather be in school then stuck at home with my dad.
We wasted nearly an hour just talking about our classes and complaining about our professors. Each of us put away our fair share of food and just enjoyed each other's company.
"Well I'm out." Crystal pronounced, getting up from the table and waving at us as she headed out of the dining hall. That left just me and Keith. He smoothed his head fur back and gave me and intent look.
"Now that she's gone I want to know what you two were talking about when I showed up. If it's something bad, I swear you can trust me not to tell anyone." Keith said.
Sighing I figured it would be to my own benefit to just come out with it. Besides, it was just naturally easier to talk to a guy about this sort of thing. "I was telling Crystal how I was looking at interspecies porn last night."
"Oh so you like foxes. That's cool. I mean you shouldn't like only dogs just because they're what your dad expects you to like. Foxes are in the same family as dogs anyway right? It doesn't seem like such a big deal to me but I guess some furs see it as a status symbol." Keith said leaning his crossed arms on the table n looking over at a table filled with girls of different species. "Love and lust know no bounds. I think hybrids are kind of cool."
"It's only cool if you don't happen to be one. Besides, it's not foxes I like." I shifted in my seat and pulled my tail closer to me. "I think I like reptiles...there was this one video of a dragon and..."
"Scalies? Like lizards and dragons and stuff?" He scratched his wooly arm and cocked his head to the side studying me. "I never would have thought that would be what you went for but I guess anything's possible."
"Yeah, well...maybe it destined," I mumbled while picking at my tail "it figures that the outcast goes for another outcast."
"Hey! You're not an outcast! The hype over carnivores is stupid, it's not like they go out and just start picking off furs one by one. I knew this skink back in middle school and he never ate me or acted like he wanted to. He was really good at a lot of stuff but furs were assholes to him just because he ate meat. If u like scalies then I'm fine with it." I smiled back at Keith and relaxed a little. "I'd love to stay and get all the dirty details about the videos you watched last night but I got to get to class. See you later!"
I waved back and flopped my tail back on the floor. It was awesome that my friends would support me if I liked another species but that didn't mean everyone would. My dad definitely wouldn't for sure, but my brothers might accept me. Besides them and my two friends I didn't have much of a support group. Keith and Crystal were my only real friends. I got along with my dorm roommate but I wouldn't call us friends.
Signing I reached for my backpack and pulled out the book I had checked out from the campus library. It was on reptiles. I couldn't help myself. I just wanted to know more about what I was getting myself into. The glossy cover showed a picture of a large black scaled dragon belting smoke with flicks of red embers into the air. His wings were spread out and went off the edge of the cover. This dragon just screamed power and strength; I could almost hear it roar. My fingers traced the shape of the dragon's broad shoulders as my breath quickened.
I could feel the tip of my shaft start to leave my sheath and I quickly opened the book to the first page, which did nothing to help since it was covered with pictures of reptiles. I admired the smooth scales on the skinks and the long tails of the geckos. All of them were beautiful to me. My paw slowly slipped from the table and began to knee at my groin; providing pressure for me to slowly hump into.
The first chapter was on the anatomy of different reptiles and after flipping past the section on the circulatory system I got to the reproduction part. On this page there was a picture of a very buff iguana in the nude. His head was held high and his strong arms were on his hips as he displayed his erection. His vent was wide open and what had to be at least nine inches of pure masculinity stood at attention, lagging slightly under its own heft.
I pressed harder against my own swollen shaft and gripped it through my jeans. Slowly I started a jerky half masturbation of my cock as I felt my precum start to leak, I had never before been so grateful that I had decided to wear a baggy shirt because it covered my actions perfectly. I forced my cook up against the rough material of my pants, pretending it was the scaled hand of the iguana. My knot stated to swell and I gripped it tightly through the denim, grateful that it hadn't swelled inside the sheath for once. Steadying myself I squeezed hard and immediately felt waves of electricity shoot through my body as my prick jerked in my hand. Cum slowly seeped into my pants making a wet patch in the crotch of my jeans.
Sated I melted into the chair and closed the book just as a group of furs walked up to my table. I started thinking the worst. What if they saw what I was doing? I relaxed a little when the fox leading the group smiled as he sat his plate down.
"Do you mind if my friends and I sit with you? All the other tables are filled." He said standing beside the chair and waiting for my answer. Behind him a doe and a wolf stood waiting for the verdict.
"Sorry, I didn't realize how long I'd been here." I apologized as I stood and reached for my backpack.
"Don't go, we can share the table." he volunteered cheerfully as he and his friends sat down. The wolf and fox sat down in the two seats across from me and the doe as to my right. "My name's Ryan, this is Craig," he gestured to the wolf. "and the doe is Emily. What's yours?"
"Rainer." I offered quietly.
"That's an odd name." Emily said leaning her head to the side.
"It's German." I mumbled with a shrug. I wasn't about to tell complete strangers that it had been Matt up until I went to live with my dad and he'd had it legally changed so I would have a German name like him and my brothers. I've always hated being called Rainer but if I changed it back to Matt then my dad would probably disown me right on the spot.
"Oh because you're a shepherd...I've never seen a shepherd with that color fur before. Are you a hybrid?" she asked innocently.
"Emily, shut up!" Ryan said as he elbowed the doe in her side.
"Oww!" Emily punched Ryan in the arm and I couldn't help but smile. They got along like Crystal and Keith did. Craig was trying hard to hide his own laughter too. "I didn't mean it in a mean way; I just wanted to know that's all. You don't have to answer if you don't want to." She said rubbing her side.
"I'm part red fox and part shepherd." I managed to get out behind the paw I was using to hide the grin on my face.
"That's cool. We got one more person coming, is that ok?" Craig asked looking over his shoulder.
I looked in the same direction and nearly came again. Walking over to us was a very large and very sexy dragon. He had to be at least eight feet with glimmering blue-green scales and two thick ivory horns protruding from his forehead and curling back ending parallel to his long pointed ears. When he reached the table Ryan explained how they were sharing the table with me.
"Thanks, this place is so crowded today. I'm Rowan." He grinned and reached out his clawed hand to me. I took his hand in mine and never wanted to let it go.
"I'm Rainer."
