"The Goofball Duo"
As the day went on Julie's mood went from nervous to a little bit more uplifting. It wasn't the teachers or her father but the two goofballs that's seemed to be in ever class she was in. They were in school and yet they always looked like they were having a good time. During her first hour class she had found out what Salena's brothers name was, Daren. Daren and Jerel, weird boys but they lifted the mood for not only her but others. Later that day at lunch she had seen them both acting as they usually did but everyone at the table was laughing.
It was seventh hour, the last class of the day, Gym. Of course the boys and girls got separate changing rooms so that neither could peek at the other. As she slipped into her short she heard someone blow a whistle into the room.
"Listen up, once your finished getting dressed report to the track immediately, we are going to be weeding out the weakling today." the coach said as he slipped the clipboard under his arm.
Everyone jogged out to the track as the coached waited for them.
"Right then, I'm Coach Peasant, this class will not be easy, you will sweat, you will bleed, and you will do as I say when I say it, understand me?"
He made it sound like the army in the way he was describing it.
"Today we will be performing the pole vault and the mile run. Whoever can perform these tasks the smoothest and quickest can watch the others do the wall climb tomorrow."
A pole vault? That shouldn't be to hard.
"First up we have Julie and Lala."
Both approached the poles that were handed to them before turning to the height they had to get over. Each got a running start before taking off toward the obstacle. At the same time they both slammed their poles into the ground and launched themselves into the air, over the pole above.
"Not bad for beginners, but lets see what our two star pupils have, Daren and Jerel."
"No worries coach, we have this down pat." Jerel stated as both picked up their poles.
The two on the other side watched as they took off towards the obstacle and without hesitation plunged their poles into the ground, taking off above the obstacle, however unlike the first two they spiced it up. Both curled up into a ball and spun as they descended to the earth. She hadn't seen anyone do that kind of trick before. With a thunderous crash both landed on their legs.
"Excellent you two, not as impressive as some of your other tricks but still pretty damn impressive."
"Thanks coach, oh good job you two." Daren said as he turned to the two females, giving them both thumbs up.
In pairs of two everyone performed the pole vault. Not every did so good but it was the first day of school and everyone was still a bit tired.
"Alright, time for the mile run, remember whoever can perform this the quickest doesn't have to exercise tomorrow."
Everyone lined up as he got into position on the side lines. Once that whistle was blown everyone took off down the track. It didn't help that the sun was high in the sky, but she couldn't give up just because of a little heat. As she turned to make her third lap Daren ran up behind her, running backwards.
"Nice day for a run isn't it?"
How could he see who was behind him?
"Uh, yeah good day."
Of course when running backwards he couldn't see who was coming from the side until it was to late. Someone's foot came out, tripping him. She watched as he fell to the ground. Just as she was about to go and help he got back up with ease.
"Hah, you got me that time, you better watch your back!" he exclaimed as he started running after Jerel.
Well the first day didn't go as bad as she thought it would have. She hadn't made many friends except for Salena, but she wasn't in any of her classes, she only saw her at lunch. What was better was that the heat seemed to have decreased outside. As she walked home she could have sworn she heard someone following behind her. Her walking pace picked up as she heard footsteps behind her, they were getting closer. It took her by a surprise when a pair of arms reached out and grabbed her wrists as they pulled her into a dark, dank alleyway.
"Well, look what I caught, a cute young female."
She struggled against the grip as she was pulled closer revealing a boy in a stock hat, black T-shirt and blue jeans had grabbed her.
"Don't struggle, we are going to have some fun with you." he said as his tongue reached out for her face.
What he didn't expect was for her to actually fight back. Without any warning she shoved her knee into his crotch forcing him to back off . Just as she thought she was free another pair of arms grabbed her wrists and pulled her arms tight behind her back.
"Damn you bitch, we just wanted to have a bit of fun." he grunted as he pulled out a switchblade from his pocket.
"Lets see what you have under that cute top of yours."
Her mind screamed for help as his knife got closer to her top.
"Give it a chance babe, you will love it."
Just as the knife touched the top of her shirt someone tapped him on the shoulder.
"What?!"
When he turned around he saw both Daren and Jerel standing their, wagging their asses at him.
"Alright, put down the knife Josh." Jerel demanded as they turned around.
"It was you two that caused me to get suspended, I guess now is time for some payback." he said as he tossed his knife back and forth.
"Or we could all go out for some burgers and talk it over." said Daren.
All he got was a grin from his enemy.
"No?"
The blade flew towards him as he stood still. Julie watched as all he did was stand there, not even attempting to dodge, instead what she saw was crazier. Daren threw an open punch, grabbing the blade between his fingers before gripping Josh's hand. Some blood ran down his hand where the blade had cut him but it didn't seem to faze him as he threw another punch nailing him in the stomach three times. His goon let Julie go as he ran to his partners side, helping him up.
"Are you ok?" he asked helping him up.
"Alright, Daren, time to die."
His plan had worked, both Daren and Jerel took off down the street with the two goons behind them.
[Fun Fact: Coach Peasant is actually based on my gym teacher from middle school and yes his real name is Peasant]
