Raptin Detective

Characters involved: Mike Raptin and Para M/M a raptor in human clothes a human and a female parasaur.

In the city two detectives were chasing a criminal in one of the allies as he turns and fires at the two on his tail but he was not a good shot so he turns to climb a brick wall and makes it over to the other side in to the next street.

Raptin races along the street after the criminal. Putting his own gun away he starts to climb to wall to the top.

But as the young detective jumps over he leaves six scratches in the cement top of the wall still after the bad guy then the human gets a lucky shot hitting the morph unit on Raptin's chest causing it to short out and show his true form to the gun man in the dark ally. "Your not human what are you?!" Screamed the gun man, then the other detective shows up and yells for the guy to drop his gun which the human does.

Raptin curses under his breath and looks at the morph unit hoping the damage isn't too bad. He backs away from the criminal and his partner trying to hide in the shadows.

The other cop tells the detective to stay put while he waves for the gun man to come over to him, as the criminal does as told and walks over to the cop thinking he will be arrested then suddenly the cop snaps the gun man's neck killing him quickly. "You ok Raptin how bad is the damage to your morph unit?" Asked the stego in human clothes.

Raptin examines the unit carefully. "I'm not sure. It looks ruined."

"Well this should help you to keep your true form covered for a short while until you can get to the repair place on sunset road, Now we need to go talk with his wife to see if she knows any thing about what he knows and she also has a son there to." Said the cop as he help Raptin out of the ally towards the car so they can head there.

Raptin nods. Keeping to the shadows he moves along with his partner. "Good idea. Thankfully it's late and not too many people are on the street at this hour."

The other detective shows up to help his partener with the cop as they head for the house to have a talk with the wife now widow with son.

"What do we tell the widow about what happened?" he asks as they head to the widow's home. Raptin tries to not be nervous but keeps looking about nervously. "We can't get there fast enough."

They soon see the house in question as the three get out of the car to walk up to the front door as the cop knocks and waits.

"All right. I'll stay in the background and leave you two to do the talking. I'll watch and listen."

The woman talks with the cop in the kitchen while the son stays in the den playing with his plastic dinosaurs then Raptin has a problem with his morph unit as it goes out on him while his partener stays with his friend in the den with the human child.

"Raptin get it working again hurry?" Said Mike the triceratops in human clothes.

Raptin watchs the little boy playing with some plastic dinosaurs. Then he turns his attention to the morph unit trying to make the small unit work again.

The boy turns around to see the live raptor in his mom's home and gives Raptin a plastic version to keep as he goes back to his play.

Raptin nods his head. "Thanks," he says quietly.

He works on the unit but it stubbornly refuses to work again. "I can't get it fixed." he finally admits.

Mike helps his friend and finally gets it to work for now until Raptin and go in for repairs the next morning as they soon leave the house to file their reports from tonight then to head to their homes.

"Thanks. that should last until I can get it fixed properly."

"You want a lift home Raptin?" Asked the cop in the patrol car with the other detective.

"No thanks. I'll walk. I enjoy the exercise." he answers.

"You be careful ok." Said Mike as they leave while the detective walks home until some smoke gets Raptin's attention from a house a few blocks away from the widow's home.

"I'm always careful." he answers. "I've spent my whole life being careful."

The smoke gets stronger as the young man but not man walks down the side walk until Raptin sees fire on one of the houses while smoke pours from the burning building a few blocks down the road.

Raptin sees the smoke and curses under his breath. He races down the block and towards the burning building. As he gets closer he sees the flames shooting up into the night sky.

Then the detective hears screams inside the burning building as some one is calling for help to be rescused, as the cries are mixed with choking coughs from the smoke the fire is causing to the young human's lungs as he lays on the floor hardly having the strength to move now.

Without hesitating Raptin rushes into the building thru the smoke and flames. His sensative ears picks out the coughing and cries for help from the person caught in the fire. He rushes thru the flames heading towards the person.

John lays on the floor half dead as he holds the robotic raptor in his arms then hears some one coming and tries to call out to the detective but barely has the lung power to make a sound so the young man beats the floor with a weak fist then lays there waiting for death or Raptin to take him with either one.

Raptin sees the human sprawled on the floor and scoops him up. The young man clings to the robot as Raptin carries them both out of the room and down towards the door. The flames are roaring around him. Smoke fills the air making him choke and cough as they reach the doorway out.

"Thank god you saved my life when you did." Said the seriously hurt young man as John lays on the ground out side still holding the roboraptor in his arms, then the young man's eyes close but John is not out of the woods yet he needs a doctor fast or the young man will not live to see morning.

Raptin pulls out his cell phone and quickly dials 911. "We have a fire here and a person who needs help. Send and ambulance FAST!" he shouts.

"Hang in there. Help is coming."

He sees a fire alert box on the light post a few feet away from the young man's body as John fights to stay alive for Raptin still holding the robot in his arms and refuses to let go.

Raptin runs over to the alarm box and pulls down the handle activating the alarm. He is rewarded with a loud ringing and he knows that the closest fire company will arrive soon. he goes over the the human and examines him wondering if he should do CPR to restore the man's breathing.

The young man coughs again as the fire truck is soon heard coming up the road as they appear and start to connect hoses to the truck and the pump a few feet from the corner, as the fire men start to fight the fire in what used to be John's home until they have the fire under control then one runs over with and air tank to help the young man to breathe again.

Raptin steps back a little to give the fireman room to work on the man. The fireman places an oxygen mask over John's mouth. John eagerly gulps down the oxygen in between coughing and choking.

Soon John is breathing normally as he keeps his eyes on the detective who had saved his life tonight but with the young man's home destroyed John has nowhere left to go as he lays on the ground resting to recover from the smoke in his lungs from the fire.

Raptin nods his head. "Looks like you'll be ok." he says to John. "But you're home is toast. Literally!"

"You have anywhere else to go for tonight?" he ask the man.

The young man shakes his head no that he is now homeless so Raptin might have a boarder to stay with him for a few days until John finds a new place to live but until then the young man is with out a home to live in.

"You can stay with me for the time being. My place is small but plenty of room for you there!" he tells John. "What's your name? My name is Raptin."

"Raptin now with my place destroyed i don't have much left but this." Said John as he holds the robot raptor in his arms while the police and fire department check for the cause of the fire until one finds the cause that one of the kitchen devices had shorted out and caused the fire that destroyed the young man's home.

"You are welcome to live with me as long as you need. I'm sure we can find some clothes for you."

"At least you've still got your little friend."

The young man nods and tells the fire men that John feels better now that they can let him up to go with Raptin to his home so the human can live there for a while until John gets back on his feet soon.

Raptin points in the direction of his home. "I live nearby so it's only a few blocks. You up to walking that far?" he asks the young man.

"Yes and i was asleep when the fire happened so i maybe tired because i did not get much sleep tonight." Said John as he leans on Raptin's shoulder for support on the way to the detective's home to stay for a while.

"Fair enough. We've both had a long day and an even longer night," he says as they walk down the street and away from the burnt out building.

After a while Raptin makes it to his door were his partener and him stays and works on cases at as Mike is already home and asleep in his bed not knowing his raptor friend had brought home a human but he does not know John's home was burnt down.

"You can sleep on the couch for the time being till we can get things straightened out. We have food in the kitchen and you're welcome to whatever you want. Just be quiet as my partner is asleep."

The young man nods and lays down on the couch in the living room as John closes his eyes to fall back asleep in the room while Raptin heads to his bed room to get some much needed sleep as well.

"Mike wakes up early the next day. After the events of last night he had been worn out and slept soundly. He left his room and wandered into the living room then stopped short. there on the couch was a young man - sound asleep.

But that is not the only thing Mike sees the larger detective sees a small white and silver head that has wide blue slited eyes laying on John's neck on the couch in the living room, so if Mike wants some answers on why the human is laying on the couch in their home he should go see Raptin in his bed room.

Silently he stalks off to Raptin's room. Without knocking he barges in and sees his friend sprawled on the bed sound asleep. "WHO is the man on the couch in there?" he asks rudely waking up Raptin.

"Keep your voice down Mike he has had a bad night last night he lost every thing to a fire last night and now that little robot is all he has left in the world." Said Raptin as he walks over to his friend as they walk back to the living room to see John still asleep holding the robot raptor close to his chest on the couch.

"Alright," Mike says speaking in a quieter tone. "How long will he be here? We can't keep the secret for long with a human in such close quarters."

"I know but it is only until he finds a new place to live Mike so keep your human skin on ok trike." Said Mike's friend.

"Like i have a choice?" Mike sarcastically answers. "funny how he has that roboraptor Raptin. Like something out of a bad movie!"

"That is and enteractive raptor but the control to it was burned up in the fire." Said Raptin.

"Shame. But I'm sure he can get another one soon enough." the trike comments.

"wasn't he able to save anything else?" Mike asks. "Tough luck loosing everything like that."

"That was the only piece he saved because he could not save it all and loose his life trying Mike." Said Raptin.

"Why don't you get some breakfast. I need a good long shower to wake up!" Raptin says and heads towards the bathroom.

John wakes up from his sleep to see the larger man walk to the kitchen getting a meal of greens to eat at the table. "Were is Raptin at?" Asked John to Mike in the kitchen.

"He's taking a shower." Mike answers. "How are you doing today? He told me what happened last night."

"I lost every thing in that fire sir." Said the young man as he walks to a chair to sit down and cries as John covers his dirty face caused by the fire last night.

"Mike pats the distraught young man on the back. "At least you still have your life. And your little raptor friend." Mike says trying to cheer him up.

"I want to sue the company that made the thing in my kitchen that caused the fires at my home." Said John as he looks up at Mike as the large man sees the anger in John's eyes that the young human looks mad enough to kill a rex bare handed.

Mike nods. "They deserve it. Afterall you weren't the only one left homeless last night." he explains.

"I'm sure we can really rip them apart in court!"

John nods and said if Mike has work to do he should go now before he gets fired from his job.

"I do have to go. Unfortunately if I don't work i don't get paid." he says and makes his way to the door. "Feel free to use the shower yourself when Raptin is done."

The young man nods that John will but his clothes are all burned up to and the young man can not walk around naked all day and night, but Raptin is close to John's size maybe Mike's friend will let the human use some until John can get new clothes.

"I'm sure Raptin will lend you some clothes until we can get you some of your own." Mike says.

"Have some breakfast! You'll feel a lot better."

Raptin had to turn off his device so he could clean his scales in the shower as the raptor purrrs and chirps softly as dead scales fall off of his skin in the shower.

"Get going you before you are late." Said John playfully to the large man at the door.

"Alright! I get the hint." he says ans Mike turns and leaves.

Raptin leaves the bathroom and heads into his own room to get dressed before heading to breakfast.

"Feel free to take a shower John! You'll feel better!"

"Have a good shower Raptin?" Asked John as he looks at the half naked detective as he heads to his bed room to get dressed. "I don't have any other clothes Raptin so what can i change into?"

"YES! the water felt great! It really woke me up. Today is liable to be a really busy day so i need to get all the help getting going I can."

Raptin heads into his room and returns with a pair of pants and shirt. "These should fit you!"

John nods and hugs the young man he thinks is human to then lets go of Raptin to head into the bath room for John's shower next, as the young man looks down as John steps in to see what looks like scales in the tub bottom so the young man picks up one and finds they are real.

In his room Raptin quickly dries off and changes into a clean set of clothes.

He doesn't hear the water running and wonders what john is doing. "You all right in there?" he asks the young man.

"Yes i am fine Raptin." Said John as he puts the scale some place safe for the time begin for later study as the young man thinks on how Raptin got a hold of the scale in the first place.

"Alright," Raptin says and finishes getting dressed. then he heads to the kitchen to make himself a meal.

Soon the young man finishes his shower and gets dressed then pockets the scale so John can study it with out the others knowing he found it in the shower.

Raptin is eating breakfast in the kitchen when John finally leaves the bathroom. "You hungry?" he asks. "Plenty of food here!"

John soon walks into the kitchen and sits down beside his friend at the table then fixes a meal to eat as well.

"Join the meal!" Raptin says. "After breakfast we need to get you some clothes and another control for your little raptor friend."

"To do that we would need to get both pieces again because they are sold together." Said John as he eats his breakfist with the detective in the kitchen.

"They don't sell just the control?" Raptin asks as he eats.

"Be a lot cheaper that way."

Raprin nods. "At least your friends isn't damaged."

The young man shakes his head on that and said the roboraptor is to tough to die by fire.

Raptin laughs. "And so are you. You're a tough person to have survived that fire."

"I was close at death's door if you had not come along when you did Raptin and i am greatful you did come last night." Said John as he reaches over to hug the raptor in human clothes but Raptin has some thing he needs to do in town and he can not bring the young man with him or John will discover the secret Raptin and Mike share.

Raptin returns the hug. "I'm just happy that you survived."

"I have a lot of things to do in town. Will you be alright here till Mike and me get back?" he asks the man.

"Sure go do what you need and i will be fine here with my little pet." Said the young man as John nuzzles Raptin's neck then picks up and odd scent from the back of the human's neck.

Raptin smiles. "Great! Feel free to make yourself at home. Anything wrong?" he asks John.

"No i am fine for now, so get going ok i will be alright until you get back." Said John as he lets go of the detective so Raptin can leave to head for the shop to get his morph unit fixed there.

Raptin finishes his meal and heads for the door. "Things should be quiet while i'm gone!"

Raptin gives John one last pat on the shoulder and leaves. Stepping quickly he heads off towards the repair shop.

John nods as he watches Raptin leave to head into town going to the repair shop so the detective can stop having power losses to his cloak cover.

Raptin hurries down the street. He wants to get to the repair shop as quickly as possible. He's been trusting the temporary repairs for too long. The streets aren't too crowded at this hour and he makes good time.

Soon Raptin comes to the repair shop as he walks inside then another asks what is the problem of the detective, and waits for him to reply.

"My module was damaged and needs to be repaired," Raptin tells the person behind the counter.

"And I need it fixed fast!"

She nods and has him to walk into the back of the shop so one of the techs can take a look at it.

Raptin walks into the back of the shop and takes off the module. As he does so he reverts to his reptile form. He hands the module over to her.

The tech gets to work on the unit then sees the damage. "Let me guess a bullet right raptor." Said the female human like dino as she works and repairs the damage.

"Yup. I'm not sure If it was good luck or bad luck. If the bullet hadn't of struck the unit it would have hit me instead!"

"I was lucky the unit wasn't completely destroyed."

"I guess you got off lucky Raptin." Said the female parasaur in human form as she works to fix it then has the unit repaired and places it back on the the raptor's chest then turns it back on as she nods.

Raptin looks at his now disguised body. "As good as new!" he comments. "How much do i owe you?"

"Just be sure you don't get shot at again and we'll call it even Raptin because you saved my scales once before." Said Para as she smiles at him remembering the mugger who attacked her while on her way home last week.

Raptin nods. "I keep trying to avoid guns but people keep trying to put holes in me."

"It's part of being a cop."

"I know now get out of here you probably have a job to do." "Said the tech worker as she gets back to her work at her desk in the back of the story.

"All too true!" Raptin comments and then leaves the shop.

Raptin walks quickly down the street passing the people with barely a glance at them. He had to move quickly to not be late.

The station itself is crowded but it is always full of people no matter what the hour.

Mike was at his desk doing a report on last night and told Raptin that he needed to fill out his report on what happened as well.

"Good morning! What do we put down?" he asks his partner.

"The fool got himself killed in a shootout, should work!"

"Fill out your report on what happened to you last night and about the fire and rescue you did at John's home, to save the young man's life." Said Mike as he works at his desk.

Raptin nods. "Are you mad at me for bringing John home?" he asks as he fills out the dreaded but necessary paperwork. "I just couldn't leave him out in the cold could I?"

"Not really because i would not have left him out there either Raptin so lets hurry up ok." Said the detective in front of his partner inside the station.

Raptin smiles and goes back to work. He hates paperwork but he does the best he can. Soon he finishes the report and puts all the papers together. "Done!"

Soon the two hand in their reports from last night and leave to beat the streets looking for trouble or break ins that might happen with the people already out.

"Lets walk the streets for a while and see what happens." Raptin suggests. "Things always seem to happen when we just patrol the streets. The two leave the station and its hustle and head onto the streets.

Mike nods and goes with his young raptor friend in human form as they walk down the street looking for trouble makers as the larger of the two keeps his eyes pilled for problems.

The streets are crowded with people moving about. headed to work, home or just moving about on private business. They look about for anything unusual or for anyone who looks suspicious.

They soon have the streets checked and it is a slow day for the two detectives on their beat in the city, as day soon turns to night so it is time for the two to head home to see how the young man is doing on his second night with them.

Raptin and Mike head for home. Walking slowly the two walk the streets. Everything seems normal and soon they are walking up to their own front door.

They find the young man asleep on the couch again hold the robot to his chest in the living room but there are no messy dishes either on the table in front or use glass as well.

"Our guest not only behaved himself he cleaned up for us!" Raptin says. "That was good of him!"

Raptin checks the house and sees nothing out of place.

Soon after John wakes up to look at Raptin to smile at his life saver who had brought the young man to his home to live after the fire at John's place.

"Good afternoon John!" Raptin says cheerfully. "Good to see you smiling. How are you feeling?" he asks the young man.

"A little better Raptin and thank you again for saving my life the night my home was taken from me by fire." Said John as he gets up to walk over to the shorter detective to hug his neck then the young man feels and odd lump on Raptin's chest in the living room together with Mike watching.

Raptin returns the hug but pushes him away after a moment. I'm glad to have helped you. I'm a cop. Saving lives is part of the job," he answers seriously.

"I know." Said the young man as John thinks to himself that the lump did not feel like a vest or a piece of jewelery but some thing hard and big so John will find out later tonight after Raptin and Mike go the sleep in their bed rooms.

"What have you been up to all day while we were busy serving and protecting?" Raptin answers as he removes his coat and settle down for a rest.

"Well i made a meal to eat then watched a little tv but i got bord so i took a nap and must have fallen asleep on the couch again." Said John as he relaxes now with Raptin and Mike home for the night.

"A nice, slow day for us as well." Raptin answers. "Nothing much happened with us. You feel like a nice dinner?"

"Sure since my money got burned up in the fire at my home Raptin and i hate to do that to you and Mike." Said the young man as John looks at them in the living room with the young man while he is still thinking of the two clues John now has.

"Dont you have a job?" Raptin asks. "Some way of making money?"

"I do i own a store in town called Dragons outlet unlimited that sales toys for children and adults to use." Said John as he looks at the young man beside him then at Mike.

"Great! At least you still have a job and a way to make money. Did you say it was called Dragons outlet?" Raptin sees John nod and he smiles at the humor and irony. Then he heads into the kitchen and starts to make dinner.

Mike smiles as he remembers that place and had a lot of memories about seeing the latest toys there that no one else had while he grew up then the larger of the three goes to the kitchen to help Raptin make the dinner. "Do you think he knows some thing Raptin?" Asked Mike quietly to his friend.

"I don't think so. Besides what could he have seen? We've both been careful." he whispers carefully.

"I am not sure but i have seen the way he looks at you and that hug to i am just not sure." Said Raptin's friend as they soon have dinner ready and on the table as John walks over and sits down to eat with his friends.

Raptin shrugs. "All we can do is be careful." he whispers.

The three sit down and enjoy the food.

Mike nods as the two sit down to eat with the young man as John eats his meal in quiet thinking of the clues he had found so far first the scale in the shower and now the odd bump on the young detective's chest when John had hugged Raptin in front of Mike.

The meal goes quickly and soon they are cleaning the dishes and putting things away.

"That was good Raptin." Said John as he cleans his plate in the sink with the other two in the kitchen then after a while they have all the left overs in the fridge for the night.

Raptin stretchs and yawns. "Been a long day for me. I am headed off to bed."

John and Mike nod as the two watch a little tv in the living room until the large man gets tired as well and heads off to his bed room to get some sleep to.

Raptin heads off to his own room closing the door behind him as he enters. He quickly removes his clothes and climbs into bed.

The young man in the living room soon hears loud snores coming Mike's bed room so John stands up to quietly walk over to Raptin's bed room door and slowly opens it to see the detective asleep on his side, so the young man quietly moves around to the side and sees the odd device afixed to Raptin's chest right over the young man's heart then John see a dial on the bottom and slowly reaches out to turn it the other way as the raptorish form appears in Raptin's place. "Oh my god i don't believe it i knew there was some thing strange about them two and this is my proof but i will not tell any one about them." Said John quietly as he resets the dial back to were it was and leaves the bed room just as quietly so as not to alert the raptor in human form who is asleep now.

Raptin sleeps on without realizing what has just happened. He turns a little as John stands over him but he does not wake up.

The next morning John wakes up and has breakfist ready for his two dino friends who are still asleep in their bed rooms as the young man gets ready to drop the bomb shell on them that he now knows what they are while John takes the old scale from his pocket and lays it on the table waiting for Raptin and Mike to get up.

Raptin wakes up and slowly gets dressed. The vague memory of an odd dreams brushes thru his mind but he quickly dismisses it.

He slowly heads out to get some breakfast in the kitchen.

The young man smiles when he sees Raptin walk into the kitchen then waits for Mike to get up as well so the two are there together for John to say what is on his mind this morning.

"Good morning John." Raptin says as they sit down. "Whats wrong. You look odd?"

"Ok you two the jig is up i know what you two are under the human forms you have on for cover that i have just found out Raptin or should i say Raptor and Mike is probably one of the plant eaters, but relax i will not expose you two to the other humans so your secret is safe with me." Said the young man sitting at the table with his hand covering the raptor scale from the young detective's raptorish body.

Raptin sits dumbfounded. Unsure what to say. "I - am amazed. "What makes you think that? A single scale could have come from anywhere."

"This makes me sure Raptin." Said John as he holds up the large thick scale in front of the detective's eyes to see it is one of Raptin's scales.

Raptin takes the scale. "Hard to top that type of evidence." Raptin comments.

"How do we know we can really trust you?"

He looks at Mike. "WELL. Say something!" he orders...

"I could have left last night after i found out and had a team here to study you two from the museum that was close to here Raptin." Said the young man as John takes the scale back from Raptin.

"Why didn't you leave John?" Raptin asks calmly. "You could have."

"I didn't want to Raptin i just could not leave, you and him have done so much for me besides were can i go with out a home to live and no money to rent and apartment." Said John as he reaches to take hold of the detective's hand to squeeze gently as the young man smiles at Raptin.

"This is a secret that can never get out."

"I know Raptin and i will keep what i know about you and Mike secret and i would like to get to know you better ok." Said the young man as John looks at Raptin with a wink as their new friend continues to hold the detective's hand while the young man rubs it with his thumb at the table.

Raptin nods. "Good." He looks at Mike who has been quiet all the time. "Speechless? thats a first for you."

"I am just shocked that he was able to figure us out were we have kepted the secret for years and no human has ever found out about us." Said Mike as he looks at John at the table holding his friend's hand.

"John is a remarkable man." Raptin comments and squeezes the man's hand softly.

"Only a really gifted person could see thru our disguises."

"It is not just that Raptin what tipped me off was finding your scale in the shower a few days ago." Said John as he rubs the scale on the table beside his plate.

"Don't play it down so much. We've had a lot of people who got those clues and never once guessed what was really going on." Raptin explains. "You are the first in centuries."

"Then the next clue was that device on your chest since i did not see a chain around your neck holding it up when we hugged each other last night." Said the young man as John smiles at the raptor in human form.

Raptin chuckles. "A neat little bit of help. It lets us pass a human with no real effort!" Just a little sensative to being hit by bullets an."

"I see and i bet the one who shot you got a real scare for it to." Said John not knowing the other human was killed that night.

Raptin shifts uneasily. "He didn't survive." he explains leaving out some details. "But anyone who tries to shoot a cop winds up dead."

"I see and i won't bother asking about it if it upsets you that much." Said the young man as John looks over at Mike to ask what is he.

Raptin shrugs. "It happens when you are a policeman. Life and death are just two parts of the job."

"I still want to get to know you better Raptin maybe in private ok?" Asked John as he looks at the detective with Mike in the kitchen.

Raptin looks surprised. "Bold aren't you. I like that in a person."

"I'd like to get to know you better."

John smiles at Raptin in the kitchen as the young man rubs the detective's hand gently then lets go so the detectives can leave to see what cases need their attention at the station.

"Will you be safe here alone?" Raptin asks. "We have to go to the station now." He asks John.

The young man nods that he will be safe until they get back from work tonight.
