The Tales of Sorath (part nine)
"How is he Delilah?" asked Bill as he walked into the room. "He seems to be doing fine but he's still unconscious for some reason. My guess is that when his level of adrenaline dropped back down it caught up to him along with the blood loss. Most of the poison has left his bloodstream and his wound has healed up fine. All we can do is wait for him to regain consciousness and monitor his heart rate." "What should we do until he wakes up?" he asked with his head in his paws. "I guess we continue with our 'normal' days. All we need is someone to watch his heart rate and occasionally check his blood to make sure there aren't any long term effects of the poison." "I'll go tell the others." he said as he walked out the door to the rest of the group outside.
"She said that he was fine. All we need is someone to watch his vitals." "I'll do it." Veronica said as she stepped up to him. "Okay then, if you're sure. The rest of us will continue with our daily routine. Zachary, I have already picked out your next mission. Jack will be accompanying you on this one." "Why me?" "Because the rest of us have better things to do. Don't argue with me." Bill said sternly as he pushed a rolled up piece of paper into Zachary's hands.
"So, what is it?" Jack asked as he tried to look at the paper from the back. "It's a drug dealer. They want us to kill him and all his associates in the mansion and then burn it to the ground." "How big is the mansion?" "Do you really need to know?" "I need to know what incendiaries I need to bring so we completely annihilate it." "It says it's a two story mansion with a total area of one million square feet." "Looks like I'm gonna need more than a few molotovs for this one." he said with a puzzled look on his face. "It doesn't say what gun to use though." "That means you choose your own." Jack said as he went towards a door on the other side of the hangar.
"Sorry but I forgot to show you this room on your tour. This is the incendiary room. We have enough in here to burn a small country without a problem. It ranges from gasoline," he said as he picked up a gas can "to thermite," he said holding up a milk jug filled with a reddish powder " and everything in between." he said motioning around the room. "So what are we gonna be using anyway?" Zachary asked as he picked up a soda bottle full of clear liquid. "Put that down!" jack said as he grabbed the bottle from Zach. "What is that, some kind of substance that burns when it comes in contact with organic material?" "No, It's moonshine." "Moonshine?" "Yes, moonshine. Everclear, white lightning, and home brew are a few of its other names. We only use this shit in a big emergency, or when we want to get shitfaced. Either way something's gonna be burning." Jack said as he finally found what he was looking for.
As he grabbed the oil drum and lifted it up Zach looked at him with his mouth hanging open. "Is it empty or something?" "Nope it's full of what we're gonna be using today." "And what the hell is that?" "It is a mixture that I made from scratch. I took some napalm and mixed thermite into it and put some magnesium in there so the thermite will light up without a hitch." "That sounds dangerous." "We're about to charge into a mansion full of gun wielding drug dealers and you're worried about what's inside of an oil drum." "Hell yeah I'm worried about what's inside that damn oil drum because it could burn straight through us and anything it touches." "That's why we don't touch it with our hands. I'm not going to be putting this shit into the truck." "Then were are you taking these barrels?" "Grab one and follow me." Jack said as he hefted one up. As Zachary tried to grip the barrel he was wondering how the hell he was going to pick it up. "Might as well try." he said to himself as he grabbed the bottom of the barrel and closed his eyes. As he lifted the barrel he thought he didn't pick it up so he opened his eyes. He then noticed he was holding the barrel with ease. "Follow me." Jack said as he walked out the door.
"What are we putting this stuff in anyway?" "Clay pots." Jack said as he put his barrel down beside the other two he took. "Okay then." Zach said as he pried the lid off of the two that they just brought. He watched as Jack grabbed a metal ladle and a round clay pot with a hole in the top. He watched as Jack dipped the ladle into the oil drum and brought out a reddish goop that was trying to stay in the drum. Jack then carefully took a stick and got rid of the strings of mixture that still clung to the ladle and brought it over to the clay pot. Then Jack carefully poured the whole ladleful into the pot and put a wick into the mixture. As soon as he had the wick securely put into the mix he took some wax and melted it before closing the hole with the wick in the middle. What Zachary saw looked a lot like a pirate grenado laying on the ground in front of him. "Get busy." Jack said as he pushed a whole box of the clay pots over to Zachary. "I remember reading that our mission starts tomorrow night so we need to get these things ready and teach you how to throw these things accurately before then. If all goes well you can take a nap before the mission." Jack said as he started on the second one of the necessary fifty they had to make before they left.
"I hope he becomes conscious soon." Bill said as he poured himself a drink. "How can you stand that stuff? To me it tastes like crap and smells like rubbing alcohol." Delilah asked as she put the tea kettle on the stove. "You're thinking of the wrong type of alcohol." "Almost all alcohol is the same to me." Delilah said as she walked to the table and sat down. "It's been a really slow week hasn't it?" Bill asked as he downed the shot in one gulp. "Why don't you just grab the whole bottle while you're at it?" "Great idea." Bill said as he pulled the whiskey bottle out of the fridge and walked over to the table.
As Bill took a swig Veronica opened the door an walked in. "Hey Veronica, want a drink?" Bill asked holding up the bottle. "No, satan uses alcohol to control people." she said as she went to the fridge for a snack. "Whatever." said Bill as he took another swallow. "How's Sorath?" Delilah asked. "What do you mean whatever? Alcohol is evil and it should not be consumed." Veronica asked as she stared at Bill. "What proof do you have that alcohol is evil?" "Guys, lets not do this." Delilah interjected. "Alcohol turns good people into monsters that don't care for others." "Strange, because I remember that Jesus turned water into wine, a type of alcohol, for guests at a party in his honor." "If you continue to talk like that about the son of god then you will spend an eternity in hell." "Then I guess I should live my life to the fullest. Take your preaching to someone who cares." "Delilah, can you please help me explain to him that he's going to burn in hell for his sins." "No." "She's on my side, I knew it." Bill said pointing the bottle at Veronica. "No I am not." "She's on the side of faith." Veronica said with a triumphant grin on her muzzle.
"No I am not. I don't care about arguments of faith. As far as I'm concerned, faith is a tool created by humans who need a crutch for reality. They cannot handle their own life so they look to a 'god' they create so that they can have some sort of hope that their body and mind won't disappear when they die." she said as she poured some boiling water from the kettle into her cup and put one of her herbal tea pouches in. "How can you say that? Don't you know that if you don't have faith then you will surely burn in hell for all eternity." Veronica asked as she started walking towards Delilah. "I want to ask you a question Veronica, and I want a truthful answer." said Delilah as she walked back to the table with her tea in her hands. "What is it?" "How do you know that your faith is the correct one?" Delilah asked as she passed Veronica's side.
"Well I - I mean I just know." "You need to try and figure things out instead of relying on the thought of some kind of a higher power that will solve all your problems. If he wanted to deal with things that you and every other christian push onto him, then don't you think he'd come here himself. Besides, don't you think that if your god wanted creatures like us then he would have created us along with humans. Face it Veronica, you are an abomination in the eyes of god." Delilah said as she took a sip of her tea. Veronica just stood there with an expression of shock etched on her face. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." Veronica screamed as she ran out of the door. "Did you have to be so harsh on her?" Bill asked putting the bottle down. "She needs to know the truth. Living the life she previously had is impossible." Delilah said as she stared forlornly into her cup.
As Veronica flapped hr wings occasionally she thought about her destination. Her old Catholic church was only a few minutes away now. Her father was the most understanding person she could think of now. He was always in the confessional at this time of night, listening to whoever decided to come in. "I hope that he can help me." she said as she wrapped her trenchcoat tight around herself as she let her wings recede. She then walked through the back door into the sanctuary. She located the confessional and stepped into it.
"Father Vires?" she said shakily. "Yes my daughter, what is it?" "I have a few questions." "Then why are you in the confessional? Why not ask me face to face?" "I'm not sure if that is a good idea." "My daughter, I have no cares of the appearance of a persons flesh, all I care about is the quality of their faith." "I understand father. I shall be waiting on the first row of pews." Veronica said as she stepped out. As she sat down she heard the father walk up behind her and she pulled the hood of her coat over her ears and head. "Why do you put on a hood in the house of god?" he asked as he sat down beside her. "I do not wish for you to see my face. I am an abomination." she said in a depressed tone. "None of gods creations are abominations." he said as he gently pushed Veronica's face towards his. Once he thought he was looking at her face he pushed her hood off and looked into her eyes before even seeing her muzzle.
"Veronica?" he asked with his hands shaking. "It's me father." He said nothing as he started running towards the front doors. She sprouted her wings, flew in front of him, and landed. "What are you, an angel?" "Why do you think I am an angel William?" "You have wings and you're dead." "No, I'm not dead. What gave you that idea." "Your parents were mailed a letter stating that you died overseas my dear." he said as he walked towards the pulpit. As he got behind the pulpit Veronica saw him reach for something. "Come here my dear." he called to her. Once she was a mere three feet away he told her to stop.
Suddenly he threw holy water in her face. "Hey, why did you do that father?" she asked before drying off her muzzle with a rag she retrieved from in her coat. "Leave here demon!" he exclaimed as he held a cross towards her. "I am not a demon father, believe me." she said as she grabbed the cross and held it still. "If you aren't a demon or an angel then what are you?" he asked as he pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her heart. "Why do you have a gun pointed at me father." she asked backing away. "I just realized that you must be a werewolf so I shall kill you with a silver bullet." "But father-" she never finished her sentence as the first shot rang out, hitting her in the arm. "I hit you. Why are you not dead or reverting back to your human state?" he asked as he walked over to her as she was holding her injured arm. "I shall end your life now." he said as he held the gun to her head.
After he said those words the front door flew open and Zachary ran at William. William quickly swiped at the location of Zachary's head with the side of his pistol and knocked him out. "Your reinforcements have been defeated." William said as he went over to Zachary's body. As Veronica watched Zachary stood up and attacked William with his claws. "I thought you were knocked unconscious Zachary?" she said questioningly as she watched Zachary drag the unconscious father into the confessional. "Zachary is knocked out, I just used his body so that I wouldn't die. You really need to be more careful were you go and who you show your true face to." said Gordon as he helped Veronica to her feet. "Zachary's coming to so I can't stay out. I suggest you drive back home." he said before falling unceremoniously to the ground.
"What the hell happened?" Zachary asked Veronica as he stood up. "Your brother saved both of us." "Oh, okay. Come on, let's go home." "Not with you driving." she said as she grabbed the keys off of his belt. "Fair enough." he said as he crawled into the passengers side seat and sat down.
"Hey, Lieutenant Downs!" yelled the messenger as he finally fund the Lieutenant. "I am sorry to inform you but Sergeant Johnson is dead. He died in a duel against one of the rogue test subjects. Orders are to give you this package, this envelope, and the sergeants old job." he said as he handed over the objects when he spoke their name. "I thought he would go too far with these people." Downs said as he shook his head. "Thank you for delivering this message to me." He said shaking the messengers hand. As he ran off Downs stepped into his office.
"I wonder what this package is." he said to himself as he slowly opened it up. Inside was a simple black leather book. He opened it up and saw that inside it had a list of all of the test subjects names with information on them. "He wants me to continue where he left off. I think I will use a different method." he said as he dropped the book into his desk and closed the drawer. He then decided to open the envelope. Once he poured out the contents he saw there was a business card in there. He looked at it and flipped it over. On the back it said 'This is the number to call for the subjects.' in the sergeants own writing. 'At least I know how to contact them now.' he thought as he rummaged through the rest of the useless papers Johnson left him. "Time to call them up and see if I can get a meeting." he said to himself as he picked up the phone.
"Hello." Veronica said as she carefully answered the phone. "Hello, may I know the name of who I am speaking to please?" "It's Veronica Hunt. Who wants to know?" "I am Lieutenant Downs of the-" "YOU BASTARD. WHAT THE HELL MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN CALL HERE AND TRY TO KILL ANOTHER ONE OF US? BECAUSE OF YOU ASSHOLES MICHAEL IS UNCONSCIOUS RIGHT NOW." she screamed into the phone. "Not anymore." she heard coming from the door. As she looked and saw Sorath standing in the doorway she dropped the phone, ran at him, and gave him a bear hug. "Let me go so I can speak to this man on the phone." "But he's-" "I know he's in the military but I will still talk to him." Sorath said as he picked up the phone.
"What do you want?" "I want to meet you personally. I shall be alone, but armed with a knife. You may bring whomever you wish. Just tell me a time and place and I shall be there." "The bottom of the dry reservoir outside of your base at two in the morning today." "Understood, I shall be there." Downs said as he hung up the phone. "I have a meeting tomorrow. Tell Bill to set up a sniping position with the M107." "You're actually going to meet up with him?" "Yes." he said as he walked out the door.
"Are you ready Zachary?" Jack asked as he pulled out his two MK 23's. "As ready as I'll ever be." Zachary said as he pumped his two sawed off semi auto shotguns. "I don't believe that you're going to break into this place with only those." Jack said as he got out of the car. "I've got a ton of shells and a couple pistols with spare clips along with my knife." Zachary said as he stepped out of the car and gave himself a slight scratch on his shoulder. "Let's get started. At least this time you don't need to worry about evidence clean up." Jack said as he cocked his pistols.
"Don't make me have to save your ass again." "This isn't the best time." "I know, but I also know I'm gonna have to tell you where your enemies are." "How the hell can you do that?" "Since all my senses have been pretty much useless I basically developed a sixth sense that lets me locate people by using the vibrations their heart produces every time it pumps." "Wow, you're really creepy, you know that?" "Of course I know." "Hurry up and get ready."Jack said as he patiently waited for their conversation to end. "I was waiting on you." Zachary said as he took the lead.
As he looked around the corner he saw a lone guard so he drew out his knife and slung the shotguns over his back. He silently snuck up beside the guard and then plunged his knife through his neck, almost cutting his head off. As he motioned for Jack to come he saw another guard coming around the corner. He threw his knife and hit him in the throat. Zachary pulled his knife out of the guard and proceeded to pick the lock. After a minute or two he silently opened the gate. As he was walking towards the door he got the four tiny C4 charges out of his pocket and put them onto the double-doors hinges. He then backed off, put his knife back into the sheath, and made sure Jack was safe. Once he did he set off the charges and ran towards the opened doorway. As he ran in he took out the two enemies on both sides of him with one round each. He then headed left while Jack headed right. He turned the corner and took out the three enemies that had mini Uzis pointed at him before heading towards the stairs. Once he got there he carefully looked around the corner before moving his head back to avoid the multiple shots from the group at the top.
He took one of the two grenades he was given, pulled the pin, and made a very good toss at the back edge of the group. As it exploded he watched one person fly down the stairs beside him. As the man took aim at Zachary he had his head blown off with a quick shot. Zachary then put the guns over his back and pulled out his pistols. "Good idea, you really need mobility from here on out." Zachary said nothing and strode up the stairs, watching out for any enemies that might decide to try and attack him. Once he put his head on the edge of the top of the stairs he took out the guards at the door by shooting them in the knees and then, when they fell to the ground, making a single shot to the head. He then went fully up the stairs while putting away his handguns and pulling the shotguns off his back. He then kicked the door in and made five quick shots to everyone except the target. "What the hell?" he asked looking at Zachary. "With that skill I would love to hire you to be one of my personal body guards. Whatya say?" The dealer said while sticking out his hand. "No." Zachary said as he delivered two shots in unison, one to the chest and one to the head.
He then took the time to fill his shotguns back up before heading back the way he came, taking out everybody who got in his way. After he made it back to the entrance he went to check on Jack. As he turned the first corner he saw a very large group of men at the next corner. He held onto his shotguns and took a deep breath after counting that there were about twenty in a very loose circle advancing down the hallway. He charged at the group and then jumped into the middle of them, startling everyone.
He began delivering shot after shot to their chests and heads. Once he heard his guns click he counted only eight more people remained. One person charged at him with a knife above his head. Zachary hit him in the head with his shotgun and then caught the body and hid behind it before the others began shooting. He slung his shotguns back over his back and then pulled out his knife. He threw the body at the group and charged slicing four of their throats before the others recovered. He dodged a bullet and threw his knife, going through the mans heart, before he realized he never reloaded his pistols from shooting people who interrupted his shotgun reloading process. When he heard the next gun go off he rushed at the man who fired it, grabbed his wrist, and pulled. He had intended on pulling the man off balance and then grabbing his gun, but what he had done was rip the mans arm right off. He took advantage of the other mans shock and charged at him. The man got off one shot, grazing Zachary's shoulder, before he felt Zachary's fist go straight through his chest cavity and out the back. As Zachary pulled his arm out he was glad that his fur was turning black so it didn't show how much blood he was covered in.
As after he turned the corner he saw Jack holding onto his arm above the elbow. Once he looked closer he realized there was a butterfly knife sticking through it. "Oh great, now I'm being showed up by the new guy." Jack said as he saw Zachary come around the corner. "Who would've expected the newbie to do better than the veteran." Zachary said with a slight laugh as he knelt behind Jack. "This might feel just a little pain here." He said as he grabbed the knife and pulled it straight out. "SON OF A BITCH!" Jack yelled as he pounded his good fist on the ground. "I told you it would hurt a little." Zach said as he stood up. "You said a little pain. That was a lot of pain." "What should we do now?" "Grab all the guns and burn this place to the ground of course. I'll pull the truck up to the doors while you grab the guns. Best part is that, in this company, whenever we take out a place like this we get to keep one gun of our choice for our personal arsenal."
"What do you mean? I've looked through my entire room and there are no spaces for guns." "Apparently you didn't look under the bed, behind the wall, the floor of the closet, or the back of the closet. They're covered with secret panels. The one under your bed is the smallest while the one in your closet is large enough to be walked into easily. Why do you think our rooms stick out so far from the outside wall while looking small?" "Okay then. Only one gun right?" "Yep, only one for our personal collections." "Gotcha." Zachary said as he went to pick up the guns that are on the route he took. After he picked up all of them he went back into the room of the boss. He thought something was hidden but he didn't know what it was or where it was hidden so he started looking around. Once he got to the chair the bosses body was in he noticed there was a button on the bottom. He pushed it and saw a panel open up on the wall behind the chair. It only contained one gun but he grabbed it immediately. "This is definitely my gun." he said to himself as he pocketed the Smith and Wesson 500 and headed back to clear the rest of the house of guns.
"You ready Bill?" asked Sorath over the communication speaker in his ear. "Yeah I'm ready. If that bastard tries any tricks them he's gonna have to run a few miles away so I don't kill his ass." "I see his vehicle coming. Bill get the engine in the crosshairs and keep it there until he gets out." "Gotcha." As the car came to a stop the door opened up and out stepped the Lieutenant in casual civilian clothes. "Spread your arms." Sorath said as he held up a small metal detector. Downs complied and held his arms up. Sorath only got a signal around his left hip. "I take it that's your knife?" "Yes it is."
"Let me tell you one thing. I have a sniper that has your head in the crosshairs of his Barrett. One wrong move and you will become a permanent part of this desert, understood?" "Yes I understand. I only want to talk." "None of us will ever go back to that damn facility if that is what you came here to say." "I am here on a matter of personal interest. First of all, would you mind taking off that damn hood. I prefer talking to someones face instead of a shadow." Sorath grabbed his hood and pushed it back to reveal his muzzle. "So you really are the one I saw in that apartment. I was so worried that I had gone crazy." Downs said as he tried to discreetly pull his knife out of its sheath. "Should I take the shot?" Bill asked. "Not yet, lets see why he is trying to get his knife out." Sorath said loud enough for Downs to hear. As Downs fully pulled it out of the sheath he flipped it around and pointed the handle towards Sorath.
"Take it. I want your opinion on it." He said motioning for Sorath to grab it. As Sorath grabbed the blade he looked at it and attempted to not laugh, which he failed at as he burst out in a fit of laughter. "What's so funny?" Downs asked as he stepped back. "This knife is a piece of shit, that's what. It's filled with minor cracks and fissures, it's edge has a ton of chips in it, this handles grip is deplorable, there is no way to stop a victims blood from soaking your hands, The blade is barely attached to the handle, the pommel's beginning to wiggle around, and there's a huge internal crack running down the middle. If you were to take this into battle it would either break or you would drop it constantly. You might even break the blade off the fuckin handle. I can't believe that this is the knife that troops are using all over the world." Sorath said as he threw the blade into the ground at Downs' feet. "I never thought that you would be that good. I really didn't expect you to find that internal crack. Why the hell are you walking over to my car?" Downs said as he chased after Sorath.
He then saw a hole appear at his feet and heard a loud boom a second later. "Don't follow me. My associate was kind enough to fire a warning shot. Next time he will hit you directly." Sorath said as he checked the whole car from top to bottom. "Sorry but I had to make sure you didn't have a tracking device." "I see that the forty years that you spent after escaping the facility haven't done any damage. How old would you be now anyway, seventy, eighty?" "I would be seventy three next Monday." "Would be, what do you mean by that?" "I do not consider the years before my transformation in my age. As far as I'm concerned they never existed."
"Do you honesty think your wife would approve of this life you have chosen?" Once Sorath heard his wife being mentioned like that he dropped his head. "Then again she never was right in the head." "Don't talk about her like that." The Lieutenant ignored him and continued. "It doesn't matter anyway what she was like in her life. That bitch is dead now because of that Bratva member who decided to have a little fun before he killed her." "SHUT UP." Sorath growled. "Then again she was an easy target since she was standing on the side of the street whoring herself out." " I SAID SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Sorath yelled as he ran at the Lieutenant, ready to tear his face off with his claws. As Sorath swiped at his opponents face Downs dodged his attack and countered with a powerful punch to the gut and followed up with a knee to the face. As Sorath backed away slightly he grabbed his knife and threw it at Downs who caught it between two fingers with a smirk.
"Okay Zachary, I see that you have done extremely well with your mission and your throwing. Why don't we head back to the house?" "Sure, I can't wait to see what everyone has to say about all these." he said as he pointed to the back that was filled with guns such as Uzi's, M16's, and pistols.
Bill was horrified at what he was seeing. 'How can this human have enough speed to match Sorath. Not only that but it seems he also has a level of power high enough to do some damage to him.' he was thinking. He then thought of something and pulled out his little touch pad and opened up a file. After a few seconds of decrypting code he reached the military's personal files and looked up Downs. The results came back that he was injected with a purified form of what they had been given. He read that results were almost perfect, showing that he had all of the speed and strength that they had while still maintaining his human form. "Damn it." he said as he took aim at the Lieutenant and began opening fire.
"BURN IN HELL!" Sorath yelled as he continued to try and kill Downs while being blinded by his rage and bloodlust. "You don't seem to understand." Downs said as he delivered another punch to Sorath's face. "I am a perfected form of you." he said as he stood gloating over Sorath, who was now thinking clearly. "Delilah, bring in our latest project." he said over the communication system. "Do you mean Hellfire?" "Yes, it is exactly what we need right now. Bill lay down some covering fire for me. Don't even try to say you're running out of bullets every few seconds. I know you have half the armory up there." Sorath said with a grin.
"I only have fifteen." "Okay so you don't have half the armory. I still don't expect complaining about a lack of ammo." "Fine." Sorath then stood up and took out a lighter and a cherry bomb. He lit it, threw it at Downs, and pulled out his custom. Once the cherry bomb exploded he began to run back towards their base. "Delilah, is Hellfire ready?" "I'm right over your head." As he looked up he saw their helicopter flying towards where he just was.
Delilah observed her screen seeing only one person. She locked two of her missiles on him, aimed her two mini guns at him, and then started firing. He dodged most of the bullets that she first sent downrange. He also avoided the missile with ease. She was surprised at this little boys efforts to survive but she knew that he had to die so she blew up his car with a missile and then switched to her homemade warheads. 'There's no way this bastard can avoid these completely.' she thought to herself as she fired two of them.
Once they left the helicopter they split into dozens of smaller missiles, each one still powerful enough to go through anything and decimate it along with the next three city blocks around it. They all hit exactly where he stood only a second before. As she looked closely she realized he avoided them and caught one which he threw back at the helicopter. "Damn it all." she said as she pushed the button below her seat, which promptly shot twenty feet diagonally away from the helicopter before opening a parachute. Once the helicopter exploded she was thrown further away and felt a horrible pain on her left arm and leg along with her tail. As she looked over she saw the there were parts of the helicopters blade lodged into her. 'Seems like I'm going to see my brother sooner than I thought.' she thought to herself before she passed out.
"Delilah!" Sorath screamed as he saw the planes burning wreckage fall to the ground. He grabbed his custom and loaded it with depleted ball ammo. He also grabbed more depleted ball, explosive tips, and hollow point ammo before running towards the Lieutenant. Before the Lieutenant saw him coming Sorath raised his handgun and shot him in the hip, ripping off his leg. Before he even fell Sorath blew off the other leg as well. He then slowly worked his way up from shooting off his fingers to his knuckles. He had two knuckles left when he ran out of depleted ball ammo. He then loaded up the hollow points and resumed shooting him first blowing off the rest of his knuckles then slowly making his way up to the elbow before running out of bullets. "This is the one you truly deserve."Sorath said as he loaded up the explosive tipped rounds. He then shot the rest of Downs' arms off before he realized he only had one bullet left. He shot it into the Lieutenants gut and ran off to find Delilah.
Once Bill finally got to where the fight took place he was horrified at what he saw. "Sorath this is too much, even for you." he said as he closed Downs' eyes. He then saw a vehicle speeding towards him. He watched as Jack jumped out as soon as it was possible and ran over to him. "What the hell happened?" Zachary yelled as he jumped out of the truck. After telling them everything that happened and showing them the direction he saw Delilah's chair go Jack rushed off to find her while Zachary put the truck and weapons into the hangar and then left to find her.
"They've been gone for two hours. I hope they're okay." Bill said to himself as he took another swig of vodka. "Bill get your ass out here and help us." he heard Jack yell. He dropped the bottle and ran to help carry Delilah in. "Put her in the lab. Zachary, get your ass in there and do what you can, Sorath go and help get her vitals steady, Veronica go get us some towels and rags for the blood. After you finish throwing up." he added as he looked away from her and walked towards the kitchen. "Where are you going Bill?" Zachary asked before he stepped through the double doors. "I'm going to fix some supper. When Delilah wakes up she's going to be hungry and I don't feel like making her wait." he said with a slight smile one his face. As he walked through the door he lost his smile, grabbed the bottle of vodka, and started making his form of chicken with wine. While he poured the rest of the vodka into the pot he also added a little of the chicken blood he saved into the pot so that it would appear as if he used actual wine. He then sliced up a few veggies and put them into the pot before putting it into the oven. "I really hope that she's going to be okay." he said to himself as he brought a soda bottle out of his coat pocket and unscrewed the cap. "Hopefully this will help me forget what I want to. Nothing else has worked so far." he said as he took a swig of the moonshine from inside of the bottle.
"What the hell happened to me." Delilah asked herself. "Oh, that's right. I was hit by parts of the helicopter. I guess I'm dead." she said with a shrug. "Sorry, but that isn't true." she heard from behind her. As she turned around she saw her brother. "Brother?" she asked as tears formed in her eyes. "Yes it's me Delilah." He said as he held his arms open. She ran into his arms and began to cry. "I've missed you so much. Please don't let me go." "But I have to, it isn't your time." "Okay, I'm fine now." she said as she backed out from his arms after three minutes.
She then charged at him and punched him in the face. "Why didn't you tell me what you were going to do? I could have helped you out, I could have saved you but you didn't tell me anything so there was nothing I could do to keep you from dying. What the hell?" "You would have stopped me." he said calmly as he floated back up. "I was willing to sacrifice my life so that you and the others could live and be happy." he said as he started petting Delilahs head. "Quit it." she said playfully as he started ruffling her fur up around her ears. "But you're so soft." he said pulling her into a hug and petting her back. She started purring and soon felt like she was falling asleep in his arms.
"Ugggggghhhhhhh."Delilah moaned as she tried to open her eyes but slammed them shut instantly as soon as the fluorescent lights burned light into her retinas. "She's awake guys!" she heard Zachary scream. Through her eyelids she saw the lights dim down. "You can open your eyes now Delilah. Oh and before you ask, you were out for two days." she heard Sorath say. As she opened her eyes she tried to push herself up with her arms. She winced as she felt the pain in her left arm. "It took a little while but we got almost all of the metal out of your arm and leg. There are still a few fragments in your bones but they won't be a problem for you, although you're going to be waiting for the fur to grow back to its full length." "That's okay." she said as she carefully tried to stand up, but ended up falling onto all fours. "Why can't I balance correctly?" she asked as she tried for the fourth time to stand up. "Well it seems that about six inches of your tail was chopped off at the same time that you got hit with the shrapnel." "What?" she asked incredulously as she sat back onto the cot she woke up on and curled her tail up to where she could see it.
"I'm sorry but there's-" "DELILAH." Jack screamed as he pounced onto her. "I am so glad that you're alive." "Jack, it hurts, I can't breath." "I'm sorry. I'm just so happy. I don't know what I'd do if you died and left me alone here with all of these people who don't seem to like me." "Jack, calm down. You're only babbling." "Sorry." "Why am I so hungry anyway?" "You had a lot of injury's to heal so your body healed them. Unfortunately, since you hadn't eaten for a while, your body continued to heal your wounds without nourishment. If you eat pretty often then you just might grow your fur back out in a couple of days." Bill said as he walked through the door. "Foods ready." he said as everyone but Delilah rushed past him. "Your tail should grow back to its normal length as well in a few days, if you eat properly." he said as he helped her out of the room.
It was a quiet supper as the six of then ate. Zachary decided that he wanted to drink all the juices left in the pot. He did and got drunk after he finished it off. "I can't believe that he gets drunk so easily." Bill said as he tried to avoid looking at Zachary. "Looks like he is completely white except for his tail." Delilah simply said. "Zachary, put your pants back on." Veronica said as she also avoided looking at him.
"No way, I'm havin fun." he said I a drunken slur. "Then at least put on some underwear." Sorath said as he slowly sipped his soda. "Yay party." said Jack as he jumped up on the table along with Zachary without a shirt. "Get down Jack." Everybody except for Zachary said in unison. "We all know you aint drunk." said Delilah as she took a nice sized swallow of whiskey. "I'll be right back." Sorath and Veronica said in unison. "I bet they wanna have some fun. Whatya say we join em Delilah?" "No thanks Jack. I don't think it would work out very well." "Aaaww. Please?" he asked with hopeful eyes. "I told you, it won't work out." she said as she emptied the rest of her glass.
"I am so glad I finally found another christian around here." Veronica said as she followed Sorath to his room. "Wait here." he said as he shut the door. He then went under his bed and opened up the secret compartment to grab the guns in there, a pair of heavily decorated twin pistols. "I wish I could have given them to you honey." he said with a tinge of sadness in his voice. He closed the compartment back and walked out the door. "What are you going to do with those?" Veronica asked as she followed him out of the door. He then grabbed a couple of special clips out of his pockets and loaded his guns with them.
"I'm going to do something I do every night at this time. It is in memory of my wife." "At least you will be going to heaven with her." "What gives you the idea that I am a christian?" "I saw you not drinking any alcohol in there even though everyone else was." "I will tell you right now. I have no faith that I follow. I do not drink alcohol because that was the last thing that my wife wanted me to do. As far as I'm concerned, if I drink any alcohol then I will be going against her final wish." "But that chicken was cooked in alcohol." "My wife only wished that I would quit drinking. My wife always loved cooking things such as that so I eat it in her memory." He said as he pointed the gun into the air and fired. She watched as the bullet went up and exploded in a bright colored ball. He then fired the other twenty three rounds he had in the guns and watched them all light up the night sky in different colors. Sorath then went back into his room, locked the door behind them, and waited for the same dream he had every year on this day.
"Veronica, I take it you had a good time with Sorath." "He only fired a couple of pistols. He used some kind of-" "Colorful bullets, I know because I watch Delilah make them." he said as he put down the third bottle of whiskey that night. "Where is Delilah anyway?" "Her and Jack left to their, separate, rooms. They stuck me watching Mr. Drinky over here." he said pointing towards Zachary who was standing in the corner with a lampshade on his head. "How is he holding that little chain there?" she asked. "It's in his mouth. Go ahead and pull it." She went over and pulled it, earning a slight yelp from him. "Stupid kid decided he should tie it to his tongue so he doesn't accidentally swallow it." "I thought it was impossible to swallow your tongue?"
"It is. Don't forget, he's drunk. I really do feel sorry for him tomorrow though. I think he's going to learn about moderation then." Bill said as he finished off the bottle. "As if you could talk about moderation." Veronica said while giving him a cold stare. "My tolerance level is so high that I would need to get alcohol poisoning just to get a little buzz. Trust me, I know how to tell someones limits. All he needed was one glass of vodka but he got half a bottle. All you would need is about three shots." "What do you mean vodka? He drank wine." "Actually, he drank vodka with chicken blood in it." "What the hell!?" she yelled at him. "I'm a turkey, gobble gobble." Zachary blurted out. "Watch this." Bill said as he grabbed a box of stuffing.
"Hi turkey, happy Thanksgiving." he said as he held up the stuffing box. "AAAHHHHHH." Zachary screamed as he ran into the wall beside the door and fell to the ground. "That was mean." Veronica said to Bill who was clutching his side laughing. "Loosen up a little. Seriously, you're way to high strung. You need to learn how to have some fun." "I know how to have fun." "I thought lying was against the rules for christians." "Shut up." Veronica said as she walked out. "You'd think she could take a joke." "I like to drink pudding." Zachary said as he walked over to the fridge and fell onto the tile.
