But despite that, instead of waking up, sleep crept over her and whisked her to dreamland.

Luck awoke the next morning and looked around. She was still nude, in the bedroom she had been shown to by Sly. The wolfox and Maneki weren't there anymore. She stood and shook the sleepy sensations away as she wandered over to the dresser where the small pile of clothes he'd brought for her still lay. "Could it all really be real? Or am I dreaming?" she thought to herself as she looked around the room unbelieving.

Maneki walked around the kitchen, fixing breakfast. She hummed to herself happily as she worked. A noise behind her prompted her attention as she turned to see Luck pulling out a chair to have a seat. The feline was dressed in a black t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans, simple but comfortable clothing. "Good morning Lucky." said Maneki happily. "Good morning Neki." replied Luck almost doing a double take as she looked at her friend. Maneki was wearing a yellow tank top and a pair of black jeans in addition to her collar. "You're actually wearing clothes." said Luck surprised. "What's that supposed to mean? I'm not naked all the time." replied Maneki. "I'm sorry Neki. This just all seems too good to be true. I keep expecting to wake up from a dream back at that place." said Luck seriously. "I know what you mean. Even after being here for a full month I still sometimes expect to find that it's all been a wonderful dream." replied Maneki. "I forgot to ask yesterday, how does he know so much about the policies and practices of the adoption agency anyway? He's got more knowledge about it than a regular person should have, not that he's a regular person." asked Luck curiously. "Master didn't tell you? He was adopted from the same agency." replied Maneki to Luck's shock. "Fortunately for him he was adopted from there at age fifteen, about the same time as we were brought there. He says he remembers seeing us once or twice. While he was there he witnessed the depression of the older adoptees there and decided to do research on why they were so sad when he got older. He used his powers and gained information about the place that normally doesn't get out." explained Maneki seriously. "I never would have guessed." said Luck. "He actually went back to the place and got behind the scenes. He said that he remembered us and could see how miserable we had become, and knew he had to get us out of there. He's like our guardian angel. Even though he's only part angel." said Maneki chuckling at her own joke. "He is a nice guy. I think I'm going to like living here." said Luck truthfully. "Well you should take a look around. It's not too big, but it's a nice place. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes." said Maneki. "Okay." replied Luck turning to leave.

Luck walked around the house, looking in the bathroom and garage. But when she came into the living room, something caught her eye. On the table lay her collar from yesterday. The feline stared at the collar, not really knowing how to feel about it. It was a symbol of everything she'd gone through at that place, but it was also a symbol of her newly gained liberation thanks to Sly. She smiled to herself as she slipped it around her neck once more. "I see the clothes fit. How do you like them?" came a male voice from behind her. Luck turned quickly to see Sly standing in the doorway, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans, scratching the back of his neck sleepily. "I-I like them. How'd you know my measurements?" she asked curiously. "They were in your profile. What's this? You're wearing your collar?" he asked confused. "Yeah well I guess I just wanted to say thank you again for adopting me and Neki." she replied, embarrassed as she quickly turned away from him. "It looks good on you. I especially like the cloverleaf tag. It suit's you." he replied. "Yeah well don't get used to seeing me in it. I'm grateful to you, but I'm not like Neki." she replied quickly. "I know. I wouldn't have expected you to. So can I assume that I won't be seeing the business end of your claws then?" he asked curiously. "Well...I guess that'll all depend on how well you treat me and Neki, won't it...Master?" she asked, smiling deviously as she unsheathes all ten claws. "You don't have to call me Master. You're a slave on paper only. I hope you enjoy living here. Welcome Home Luck." he said turning to go into the kitchen. Luck watched the wolfox as he walked away. "If this is a dream...I pray that it never ends." she said to herself quietly as she turned to follow him.
