7 Months Of Rain Ch 6
Chapter 6 Austin looked at his watch and realized it was almost noon-time . He muttered at the numbers on his wrist, 1:00 p.m. meant football practice and today he did not feel like going what so ever. Austin loved football but did not appreciate the fact that his teammates were a bunch of dim-lit, low brained, overconfident perverdial nimrods. They often pushed Austin around for having a soft side and for actually showing respect for the lower classmen rather than degrading them like he was expected to. There were pros to the position he had on the team, he got respect, he gained friends without even needing to say a word. Girls would ask for photos with him, and guys would give him quick fistbumps after a good game. The biggest pro of all was the attention and recognition, the biggest con was the attention. His fame was heard by people he regrets meeting to this day. Other than Jade, Austin met stalkers that would endlessly snoop into his business, they would look at his facebook daily, they would leave love notes on his locker, in fact, one time, he saw a woman looking at him from behind the bleachers using a pair of binoculaurs. The woman was arrested for harrassment, funny thing is that she was an older woman who had a daughter who went to Dimetown High. Austin rolled out of bed and looked into the mirror, his hair still in a mess, his beard growing in all scruffy and unpampered, and his clothes all ruffled and barely clinging onto his body. Austin rubbed his chin and told himself he would shave after the practice. As he walked out of his house with his backpack, his sister Ophelia threw him the keys and told him not to be out too late. Even though he loved his sister, on a Sunday, all he heard was yimmer-yammer come out of her mouth because it was the same thing every day. "Don't be out too late." or "No Drinking" or even "You better not be doing drugs." She felt more like another parent to Austin instead of an older sibling, the constant suffocation almost made him feel like he was in prison with an inconsiderate and ignorant overlord. "The sooner I'm out of there, the better." He said to himself as he started the car. ----------------------------------------------------- As Jake rolled over his sheets in the washer and dryer, he opened up his phone to finally reply to Danielle's messages. To: Danielle Good Morning Danielle, sorry for the delay, I overslept. From: DaniellE It's alright ^^ so have you been dreaming of any hunky guys lately? Jake flinched at that text and looked angrily at his phone as he typed his response. To: Danielle No, why do you need to know? From: Danielle I can tell you're a little starstruck by a certain man we have both seen. ^^ Jake's eyebrows bent and only showed more of the annoyance and anger he directed at the messages. To: Danielle By what do you mean? From: Danielle Austin McElroy, I had a feeling you were having a little fantasy about him in Science class. :p Jake turned red remembering the little episode he had that day and all that followed. To: Danielle I don't like him Danielle, I don't even know him. From: Danielle Whatever you say :p Hey I have to head and help my Aunt, when I drive by I'm gonna go get a quick look at the football team while they practice. Bye Bye ^^ Jake closed his phone and rolled his eyes, the more Austin was in his head, the more it tortured his heart that a relationship between them can be possible but at the same time completely impossible because he doesn't even know if Austin would be attracted to a man like him. A man so short, so unpopular, so invisible. Jake stood at an average 5 foot 7 while Austin was probably above six feet tall. He pulled his hair and started to slam his fists on the kitchen table. He then looked at his watch and saw that the time read 1:20 a.m., he looked out his window and saw his car then an idea popped inside his head.
He jumped into his car and drove towards Dimetown High.
As he drove to the field in the back of the school, Jake saw the entire football team doing drills, some wearing just jerseys and others wearing yellow coats to resemble them as another team. Jake didn't see Austin yet but saw plenty of large men piling into each other like they wanted to literally kill each other. At one point, Jake saw one of the players sit on the bleachers and take off his helmet. Long brown messy hair fell onto the player's back as soon as the helmet came off. Curious, Jake walked out of his car and climbed over the fence quietly. As he walked underneath the bleachers undetected, he saw the man drinking water and sweating with his face buried in his hands. "Let me see your face, let me see your face." He begged in his mind. The man held his face up and his sweat landed on Jake's face as it fell down through the spaces. The man turned his head away and started to shake his head back and forth, sighing and muttering "Why do I bother? Is this really all worth it? Like he would like me, yeah right." Jake's mind wondered and he sat on the grass, beneath the bleacher where the man sat. "That kid Jake," The man muttered to himself "He is..." His trail stopped when he dropped when his water bottle fell and bonked onto Jake's head. "Ow!" Jake accidently yelped, covering his mouth and running towards the fence. "Hello?" The man said, and Jake recognized the voice right away, it was Austin's voice. He pulled his hood over his face so Austin wouldn't see him and he jumped over the fence. Austin's eyes followed the dark clothed figure and saw him jump into his car. He jumped down and tried to follow the man, by the time he jumped over the fence, the man became too far away to catch. Austin scratched his head and wondered who that could be before being called over by the coach. Jake finally stopped to catch his breath, now realizing that he left his car at the back of the school. He walked slowly back to the field and tried to see if there was any sign of Austin, but the field seemed empty. He took off his hood and tried to unlock his car. "Hello there Jake." A voice said. Jake jumped and landed on the pavement with his butt. He looked around but found no one in sight. "Up here." The voice said. Jake looked upward and saw that Austin was in a tree, sitting on a branch. "Oh.....Hi Austin, whatcha doing up there?" Jake said shyly. "Well, I like to come up here sometimes when I'm done with practice to unwind before going back home." Austin said with a grin. "What are you doing here?" Jake stumbled and tried to come up with a lie, which was not something he usually ever did to people other than his foster family. "I came to see a friend, but looks like she's not here." Austin gave a small laugh "Well that's unfortunate. You going anywhere now?" "Home I suppose, I need to help my mom with the chores." Austin smiled and noticed the colorful wristbands on Jake's arms. "Hey Jake, before you leave," He said as he leaped out of the tree, almost ramming into Jake "Mind I ask about those bands you're wearing around your wrists?" Jake glared at his wrists and realized he was wearing his GSA bracelets and they were perfectly visible. He debated in his head if he should tell Austin or not, but decided he had nothing else to lose, thinking his chances with Austin were completely diminished. "Well..." He began "It's just to show support and all that, well, you know, gay pride and what not." Austin smiled a little but tried to hide it. "You're gay?" Jake hid his hands in his sleeves and firmly said "Yes, is that a problem?" Austin placed a hand on Jake's shoulder and happily said "No, no, not at all, I'm more than accepting, it's just nice to meet someone in this town that is more than straight and isn't homophobic at all." Jake couldn't help but smile and giggle a little, "Yeah I know what you mean, well I have to get going." "Alright you have a good one, I'll see you around." Jake walked into his car and started the ignition; he couldn't help but to smile. While Austin was walking away in the opposite direction, he was smiling so much it hurt his face.
