_ second chapter of my story, i hope its enjoyed and many comments are gratefully accepted. _
Averin gaped in awe at the sight of the Drak-kin female. She sat upon a throne within the massive pillared room. It was devoid of other people. Her body, like Bodemair, was shaped like a human but unlike anything he'd ever seen. Her entire body was covered in shimmering green scaled tinted with blue that started from her throat in a narrow point which proceeded broader down her chest and belly.
It was all revealed by the same cloak that now hung open upon her shoulders, a black suit Averin saw when he encountered her in the forest. Her demeanour was fierce, he looked at her face. Two canines protruded from her top lips and curved somewhat elegantly.
Bodemair softly lay Averin down on a chair that was situated before Felic. He moved out of the way for her to see him. He saw her frown for a second before realizing it's him. She stood; a sudden whoosh of air battered them as she had lifted her wings from their positions. Averin did not notice them for the looked like drapes. They were a mixture of sky blue and moss green. He now was completely entranced by her unusual beauty. Odd, he was a human but he could not help but find her enthralling.
She spoke, her voice like an elf's, to his surprise as she almost cried "Oh! Averin, you're awake at last!" she moved forward and knelt before him. Laying a hand on his lap, her fingers tipped with black, rounded claws.
"Bodemair, did I hurt him badly?"
He shook his head, as did Averin who couldn't remove his eyes from her. He mumbled softly "You're Felic?"
She smiled a toothy grin "I am. How are you feeling?"
"Much better now that you're her-"
Bodemair nudged him in the small of his back. He caught himself and looked away. He was trying to charm her!
She laughed softly "I think he'll be all right" she stood and returned to her throne. Bodemair leaned down to whisper into Averins ear "You just flirted with the princess of Tela'Vel. Daughter of Goreth"
Averin looked up at him with surprise, "She's a princess?"
"So, Averin" Felic began in a cool voice, "you say you've never seen one of us?"
He shook his head "I was recruited from the Lowlands to serve as a common footman for my king only two years ago. In those parts, all that exist beside humans are elves."
Bodemair cut in for him "That's true, your Highness, he did not know what I was when he woke up"
Felic waved a hand gracefully "Bodemair! We are not in the public eye and nor is Averin of the public, speak like you should"
Bodemair nodded.
Averin asked "May I ask, what's going on? All this doesn't make sense. Bodemair mentioned something of importance"
"Yes..." she interrupted him, "you are of the importance to me"
Averin felt confused, "Why?"
"I know why you escaped from your barricades last night. You where a prisoner, a prisoner of treason in defying the words of your king Salimoor"
Averin gulped slowly, what he did might be treason to all races.
"You saved a Krug from execution nigh two weeks ago. You were thus discovered and escaped, no?"
Averin hesitated before realizing that there was no alternative in this matter. She knew him too well, he had been discovered. He looked up at her, her eyes went soft the moment he shook his head in regretted agreement, "He did not deserve to die, he was trying to save his kin" was all he whispered.
"And" Felic announced "that is exactly why your act of kindness brings me to why I find you of such great importance. You saved a creature so eroded to your kind, thus I see you fit to become the first human guardian of Tela'Vel"
Averin was shocked. His body clenched making him wince from his pained ribs and head, "Me?"
Bodemair agreed "What you did, human, was something I've never seen any race do. To save their sworn enemies from death in the eyes of their kin; I too believe you would be worthy of this title"
He felt dazed, the words from such creatures who welcome his presence only to present him with a title, "What about the fact that I'm a human?"
Felic sighed as if saddened by his query "Tela'Vel means; the home of all races. It is what we want; for all to co-exist in harmony, to mingle and to rid the world of war. You would be an idol of this to both nations both for your act and your race"
Averins world began to feel surreal. A sudden jerk of his conscious brought him wheeling to the floor beside him, near unconscious though he felt Bodemair lift him. His deep voice reverberated in his side as the Balerin held him close as they made their way back to the door from whence they came.
His vision cleared. He was lying on the bed he woke upon. His shirt was removed and bandages fresh. Beside him sat Felic. Her soft scales emanated a trancelike blue and green that calmed him. He felt her arm move and stroke the side of his cheek. Rounded scales that made his skin tingle. He sat up against the wall to look up at her and smiled.
"Have I mentioned I'm sorry for what I did to you?" she said in her musical voice
He nodded and smiled "I hope it makes you happy to know that you are the first ever to defeat me in a sword duel"
She laughed "I know"
A moments silence crossed them before Averin began "Does your father and others of your kind know of me?"
"Only a select few who were willing to begin the training of the new guardian once he or she was found. They have no idea you're a human though, they accepted to train any race that would fit the best ideologies" her shoulders drooped somewhat.
Averin suddenly felt distressed, not wanting her to feel down. As if he was responsible for comforting her he edged closer "What's wrong... your majesty"
"You needn't cal me that, guardians have no call in rank" she paused "it's only, I dreamed of the day someone would rise and be willing to end this silent war."
"I am willing!"
She smiled softly at him "I believe you. Just know that what you are in for is a great burden. You can never go back until the war has ended"
Averin felt the urge to move closer to her, she obliged by carefully leaning into him, avoiding his hurts "truth be told" he whispered to her, "I have nothing to go back to. The Krug plundered my life many years ago. You are the first person to leave me with a purpose and I gratefully accept it"
She sat upright and looked into his eyes. Sapphire orbs that were so beautiful and full of passion it threatened to bring him to tears.
She smiled, leaning in; she brushed her face against his. Her scales like silk, she gave him what was a kiss from a princess Drak-kin before she rose "tomorrow will be your first meeting with my people. Sleep well and Bodemair will raise you when the time comes"
Averin was dumbfounded as he watched the beautiful dragoness leave the room.
Bodemair entered soon after to see the human's giddy face. He grinned a toothy grin "I think she fancies you too"
Averin blushed.
