Daisy's Love Part 1
Daisy, a white Bengal tiger with emerald green eyes, had lived all of her life in the middle of her state, too far from the coast to go and get some good sun yet close enough to the mountains to go hiking all the time. As such, her calves were muscled yet her body was far from where she wanted it. She was too curvy for her own liking. All of the males at her community college would stare at her as she passed by them. No matter what species they were; she hated it. Her breasts were too big and half the time they hurt her back. Her hips were too lush and shouted that she was made for breeding.
But Daisy had a huge secret. The day after her last birthday she had found a fancy IM chat room and connected with a male dragon by the name of Varion who was a rare onyx dragon who lived over a thousand miles away. She'd fallen hard, head over heels in love with him and knew that he was her mate, despite their species differences and distance. She knew she would have to try and make it work one way or another. She would never forgive herself if she didn't.
They desperately wanted to meet each other and it would have been no problem for him to fly up and meet her sometime when he had a couple days free. But Varion had been estranged from his family for a long time and as such, the magic that was required for him to fly long distances wasn't enough to get him through the trip. So Daisy waited for her opportunity. It had been long in coming but she was so excited when her parents finally agreed to let her go down and visit her grandpa, who just happened to live in the same state as Varion.
The wait for her spring break, when her trip was planned, was unbearable and she was so impatient to get down there and see him. She had everything packed many days beforehand and was up bright and early the day her parents would take her to the bus stop. She was practically bouncing up and down on her heels by the time that her bus rolled to a stop in front of the station. She boarded the bus quickly and settled down quietly to wait. She waved good-bye to her parents and promised she would call every other day throughout the week.
Endless hours later they were fifteen minutes out from her stop and she had everything packed and she had switched seats with the dog who had sat beside her the whole way that way she could have and aisle seat. She had even changed at the last stop into a black jean skirt and black one shouldered top that had a white hibiscus flower broach at the shoulder.
As the bus approached the station she started craning her neck to see if she could get a glimpse of her big black dragon. Her eyes searched and searched and finally she spotted him amongst the crowd of animals. He was gorgeous. His scales looked like he had polished them just that day and he was craning his long neck to try and get a glimpse of her. She smiled happily and waited quite impatiently for the bus to stop so that she could disembark. She was one of the first off the bus and there he was waiting for her, a huge smile spread across his face.
She threw herself into his arms and he held her close, nuzzling at her neck to get a good dose of her scent. She nuzzled right back, having wondered for months what her mate smelled like, what he felt like, how he kissed...
"Ah, god I never thought you would get here, I was so worried that something would happen on the way and that all of this was just a cruel illusion," he lamented against her neck.
"I couldn't wait either. The ride down was so boring. I couldn't keep my mind focused enough to do anything. I ended up daydreaming most of the way down here," she said, cuddling close against his bigger body.
"You're so much more beautiful than pictures or that stupid web camera could ever show; and your scent... It's like I'm coming home..." he nuzzled her neck some more, wanting her scent to fill his nostrils and never leave.
She purred happily, the vibration tickling his snout and he had to pull back so he wouldn't sneeze. He stared at her for a few minutes, drinking her in and she took the opportunity to do the same. He was shorter than she thought he would be, but then, he was a shape-shifter and he could change his body into almost anything he wished it to be.
She looked around, finally spotting her grandfather, making his way through the crowd towards them. She left Varion's arms to give her grandpa a hug. She hadn't seen him since 4 years previous when he had attended her graduation and had flown up to see her. It had been the last time he'd really traveled anywhere.
"Granddaughter, you are looking as beautiful as your mother was at your age," he said, hugging her warmly. She couldn't help but compare Varion's hugs to her grandfather's. Varion's just made her feel safe and loved. Her grandfather's felt strained and awkward. Her grandpa had always been a greedy man and he had cheated on her grandmother with her best friend. In Daisy's book, that was lower than low. Her grandfather was in very poor health as of late and she almost wished the Great Being would finally take her grandfather to wherever the Being decided was appropriate.
Daisy stepped away and looked at her grandsire, wondering how long he had left for this earth. He smiled at her and she smiled, though strained, back at him. Varion, sensing her turmoil, snaked a hand around her waist and held her close.
"Grandpa, this is my friend Varion. Varion, this is my grandfather," Daisy said for an introduction. Varion nodded slightly and hugged her a little closer. Her grandfather smiled and held out his hand for him to shake. Varion did so reluctantly and then quickly let go, not wanting to prolong the contact, less some of her grandfather's selfish, greedy ways rub off on him.
"Grandpa, Varion has an extra room I can stay in. I know it's not the arrangement you and mom had but is it possible for me to stay with him. I know you're busy with work and all," Daisy said, pleading with her eyes for him to agree and let her be.
He looked at her skeptically, "If I do, are you going to tell on me to your mother that I didn't watch out for you well enough?"
Daisy shook her head emphatically, "No sir. I won't tell if you won't."
Her grandpa seemed to think this over, but she knew he was just contemplating the pros and cons of this little deal she had proposed. On one hand, he wouldn't have to deal with her or see to her well being. His bills that he had calculated out for her staying there would be null and void. And there were no cons so long as neither of them told her mother.
"Alright, but don't you tell your mother. If you do I'll say you snuck out and I had nothing to do with it," he said, agreeing all too readily. Daisy could care less though, she would get a whole week with Varion and her mother wouldn't know.
