With every story, there is an alternate to it. There are tales that fall in-between the lines of a story, and tales that rest on the outskirts of it. There are some that extends and deepens the original story, and others that start with its own remake that is created into something else. Sometimes, it is a beautiful creation. Other times, it can be a horrid disaster, a threat to the very earth or universe itself.

This story....... has absolutely nothing to do with that. This is a tale about a group of friends meeting another group of friends and becoming.... a colony of friends. A tale about friendship, lessons, love, adventure, tragedy, danger, fun... and a bunch of other things that's just too much to list.

Without any more distractions... let us begin our tale...

On a floating island, high in the sky above the surface of the earth rests a civilization that humans have never seen before. A peaceful community of friendly, loving creatures that live amongst each other with not a care in the world. These creatures, soft, calm, and harmless, are known as the Mimiga. They are quite the species alone--a sort of hybrid, some may say--a mix between dogs and rabbits. It is only a rumor, however, whereas some say they are their own species rather than a morph of two. But none really know the truth behind the creation of the Mimiga, and most prefer not to go into it.

The people of the surface have heard of the Mimiga before, but none have seen any. None other than one family and their few friends.

The Sakamoto family have traveled to the floating island as an exhibition and to further find out about these Mimiga they've once heard of. When they arrived, what they first experienced wasn't exactly what they expected...

"We've finally made it onto the island." Momorin spoke with joy in her voice. "After hours of flight, we're here, safe and sound."

"I told you we wouldn't have anything to worry about, Miss Sakamoto." Itoh replied, stepping out of the helicopter with the rest of the family.

"Great, we're here. Can we go home now?" Sue sighed as she stepped onto the island, something she TRULY didn't want to do.

_ _

"Now now, Sue. You know we couldn't leave you home alone. You're too young to be left behind. You had no choice but to come." Professor Booster put in his own two cents as he too stepped out with Kazuma following right behind him.

Momorin, Kazuma, and Sue Sakamoto were a family of three. A mother and her daughter and son. As for Itoh and Professor Booster, they were... friends. Companions... partners?

"HALT! Who dares land on MY island?!" A voice boomed through all five ears. A witch made herself known in front of them, appearing out of thin air.

"Who... who are you?" Momorin asked as she took a step towards her.

_ _

"Me? My name is not important. You are trespassing on my island--how you got up here I won't bother--but you shall be punished!" She pointed her staff at them, the blue haired witch staring with dark, angry eyes.

_ _

"Whoa, whoa, calm down, girl!" Sue exclaimed, stepping in front of her mother. "Who do you think you are? We aren't here to cause and trouble, and I never wanted to come to this dump in the first place!"

"DUMP!?!? You foul mouth fool! You will learn your manners here!" With a wave of her wand, she casted a spell towards the young girl.

"Sue, watch out!" Itoh, surprisingly, jumped out and pushed Sue out of the way, the magic hitting the man directly. He grunted as he was sent back a small way, his body glowing a faint white and form beginning to phase and change in shape. In moments, his figure was completely altered and he had be changed into some white dog... bunny... rabbit... thingamajig.

"Itoh!" Professor Booster rushed over to him. "What... happened to you? You look like a dog! ...rabbit... uhmm..."

"Fools! All of you are mere fools! Idiots, the five of you!" The witch casted her magic once more towards Sue and this time, she took the hit before she could even realize what happened. The same effects happened to the young girl and she too became a doggy rabbit thing.

"......Ffffffff--"

"Language, young lady!" Momorin stopped her daughter before she could let out her obscure words. "Why are you doing this?"

"Because you're trespassing! No morals will bring corruption to my island! Begone before I do something even worse to you lot!" With those words, she disappeared into thin air once more.

"Misery... that girl... turning me into a Mimiga. Hmph! I have better things I could be doing in my life rather than hanging out in this dump." Sue slumped and sighed, resting in bed in Author's house.

"Come on, Sue. It can't be that bad. How exactly were things before you came to our village?" Toroko asked her as she walked in, not hearing the first part about her being transformed.

"It.... actually, it sucked. But this sucks too!"

"Well, with a new start brings new possibilities. Instead of complaining like a three-year-old, you could be thinking over what you can try and do in your new surroundings. Like... get out of the house and go meet somebody." The younger female explained. Sue sighed. Toroko was right. All she's done ever since she arrived was bitch slap King, take the key, hide in Author's house, give the key to Toroko, then bitch about everything.

"You know what? You're right, Toroko. I should get out of the house and try to make new friends!" Sue hopped up and pat the other Mimiga on the head. "Thanks, girl. I owe you another one." Toroko watched as Sue ran out of the house with new intentions and hopes on her mind.

"....that girl needs to get laid." Toroko sighed and began to clean up a little around the house.

Sue stepped out into the village and began to look around, checking left and right, up and down, scanning her surroundings. "Hmm... where to first..?"

"HEY!!" A voice roared out from behind her. Sue gulped, already knowing who it was. She turned around to find King staring her down hard. "What the fuck was that for back there!? Why'd you bitch slap me?!"

"Umm... funny story..."

"I'm listening."

"....." Sue stopped for a moment, thinking over an excuse. ".........I was on my period."

"Pfft. You don't even look like you're a teen yet." King retorted.

"Are too! I'm 13, so back off!" Sue growled at him.

"Whatever. That still doesn't give you a proper excuse or reason to have just slapped me and ran off like that. I could kick your ass if I wanted to." King pouted.

"Okay, okay. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. I was just pissed off because of what happened earlier. I'm better now, though so... forgive me?"

"Oh alright. But if you slap me again, I'm kicking your ass. Understood?" Sue nodded. "Good. Now, what are you looking for?"

"Friends. I need to make some friends. If I'm going to be here, I may as well check around and hang out. Mind helping me out?"

"Hmm... if it's friends you want, you should start out by going and checking out the Assembly Hall. There are usually a number of Mimiga that meet up there. I'm sure you can find at least one friend there." King explained to her.

"Alright, thanks King. I owe you as well." Sue smiled warmly before she made her way towards the Assembly Hall. In about five minutes, she was just outside of the building, looking in through the window. King was right, there were plenty of Mimiga inside, just enjoying conversations or games with one another.

"This place is perfect! I can definitely find some friends in here." She said with hope. She twisted the knob and opened it, walking inside. As soon as she stepped inside, she was greeted by a colored Mimiga.

"Greetings, ma'am. I've never seen you around here before. Is this your first time inside of the Assembly Hall?" He asked her with a feminine tone in his voice.

"Uhh... yeah. I'm new here." Sue replied a bit nervously. "My name's Sue. I'm here because I need friends..."

"Sue, hm? I think I heard of you before, actually. King told me about a Sue. You must be her. It's a pleasure to meet you. My name's Lapis. I serve here as the guide. I know lots of Mimiga in this village. I practically know this place front and back. If you need any help, just let me know."

"Y-Yeah... thanks. I'll be sure to keep that in mind." She chuckled nervously and walked inside. There were other Mimiga all around, left and right of her. She didn't know where to start. She was excited and nervous at the same time. She could even feel a cold sweat trickling down her forehead.

"Hello there." A voice called to her from behind. Sue stopped and turned around to see a white furred Mimiga with blue tinted feet and tips on her ears.

"Oh, uhh... hello there." She greeted back to the other female.

"Never seen you before. Nice to see a new face for once." The older female smiled warmly at Sue. "My name's Erakir. I came here about a week ago and I already feel like a grand citizen here. What's your name?"

"Me? Oh, my name's Sue. I.. sorta got here just a couple days ago.. I've been hiding myself ever since but... just sorta figured I'd come out and try to make some friends since I'll probably be here a long time. It's nice to meet you, miss... Erakir."

"I see. Well, pleasure to meet you as well! And the 'miss' isn't necessary. Just 'Erakir' is fine." She chuckled softly. "Anyway, you're looking for friends, huh?" Sue nodded nervously. "Well! ....you've just met the right girl! Come on, I'll introduce you to my other friends!"

"Uhhh okay, that sounds gre--eep!" Erakir dragged off the young female before she could finish. She rushed through the crowd, literally dragging Sue along the floor until she found a small group of three other Mimiga.

"Guys, I've got a new gal for you all to meet! Her name's Sue. She's new here and seems really shy so don't scare her." The three males all nodded together. "Good! Come on, Sue, meet my boys! They won't bite.... yet."

"What was that last part!?"

"Girl, what you talkin' 'bout? I didn't say a thing! Meet these guys!" Erakir chuckled and threw her into the center of the three males.

"Uhhh....." She looked around at them nervously, looking as if she was going to piss herself any second. "M-My... my n-name's..." She stopped in her tracks and gave herself a slap to the face. Toughen up! You're acting like a baby!, she exclaimed to herself in her mind. Sue stood up straight and patted her chest. "Name's Sue Sakamoto. I'm new here. Sorta hopped out of the closet not long ago after hiding for so long."

"Sakamoto, hm?" The tan colored Mimiga spoke up. "Well, Sue, it's nice to meet you. My name's Kuro and I'm the leading male in this little group of ours. It's always nice to have another member join us."

"Yeah. Why not stick around some? Oh, and my name's Farran. I'm... a... hmm... I guess you could call me a Time Mage." He held out his paw, which Sue hesitantly took and shook. The remaining male, another grey Mimiga--though his fur color also resembled a silver coloring--waved to her with a small blush.

"Hey there. My name's Silver... it's a pleasure to meet you, Sue."

"Nice meeting you all. So.. what are you guys up to anyway? And mind if I tag along for awhile?"

"We were just about to head out for a little bit. Started getting bored here. You can join us. Erakir's been bothering us about going to meet Chaco. I'm a little ecstatic about meeting her myself. She makes her sound like a little angel." Kuro spoke out to the group. "And that... is something I need to change~"

"Chaco? Well... alright. I'm up for that. Where does she live?"

"In Grasstown." Erakir told her. "It's a bit of a way, with some monsters in the way. We also should watch out for the big jelly too. She's a mean one if you mess with her babies."

"Monsters..?"

"Yep! There are monsters and enemies on this island that can be fought and beaten to gain experience points to level up your abilities and weapons." Farran explained.

"Okay... this sounds familiar." Sue looked down for a moment. "Like some sort of... game."

"Hey, what can we say? If there's going to be adventure, there needs to be danger. Make it fun and put up a fight, kay?" Kuro told her. Sue sighed in defeat and nodded.

"Alright, alright. I don't have anything but my fights, but I'll see what I can do. I mean, not even my brother could handle these hands!"

"Paws."

"These paws!" Sue stared at Kuro for a moment. He shrugged and gave a hearty chuckle. "You win this round..."

"Heading out, you guys?" Lapis asked as Erakir and her group stopped at the door.

"Yeah, we're off to Grasstown to go see Chaco." She told him.

"Well, alright, but do be careful. There are monsters along the way and you could get seriously injured if things go wrong.

"No worries, guy. We're a careful lot, and powerful at that." Farran spoke with pride in his voice.

"Hey, why don't you come with us?" Erakir suggested. A bead of sweat raced down Lapis' forehead before disappearing.

"Eheheh... I'd... just slow you all down. I'm no fighter..."

"Aww, come on. I know you're tired of always working and walking all around, guiding people up and down and all around this village. You work 20 hours a day every day. Take a break, man! Come with us!" Erakir took his paw and started to drag him out.

"No, no, I'm okay... please... please stop.. let goooooo... lemme goooo... please..?"

"Nope! You're gonna come with!" Erakir lifted him up over her shoulder with ease. "...See? You work too much, you're so light-weighted! You need a break and some meat in your life, skinny!"

"Shut up..." Lapis whined as he was taken away by Erakir and friends. The group stepped into Author's house, where they were greeted by young Toroko in a maid's outfit.

"Hello again, Sue. I see you made friends. That was quicker than I expected."

"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well, I half expected you to go 'nya nya nya blah blah blah bitch bitch bitch be mah friend or I'll kill you nya nya' or something."

"Young girl, watch your language!" Erakir dropped Lapis on the ground with a light thud and stepped up to the young Mimiga female and patted her mouth gently. "That is naughty language for a little girl like you."

"Hey... don't do that!" Toroko whined as Erakir patted her muzzle again. "Nyeeehhh!"

"You mind your manners, little lady, understood?"

"Yes MOM." Toroko stuck her tongue out then ran downstairs. Erakir and the boys stared for a moment.

"Hmm... she's a weird one. Welp!" She picked Lapis up again as he tried to crawl away. "Let's go to Grasstown! I wanna meet Chaco!" Sue took the lead as she walked up to the teleporter. It was unknown to any of them how she knew how to function and work the teleporters, but they preferred not to ask.

"Alright, the teleporter is set for Grasstown Structure D. Everybody in one at a time. I'll go first to test it. If I don't teleport back, don't get it." They nodded as Sue stepped into the teleport. The top began to glow and beep near silently before a strong spark bashed down over her body and dematerialized her body, teleporting her away. They gave her about a few minutes, yet were highly surprised she came back in under a minute.

"Wow... these teleporters are really high tech. That's so rapid teleportation these things have." Farran spoke in awe as Sue stepped inside once more. Erakir threw Lapis in and he was teleported before he could react or protest, followed by Kuro, Farran, and Silver.

In just some seconds, they all reappeared at the teleporter at the most western edge of Grasstown. "Well, here we are." Sue spoke, looking around. "We appear to have landed in a small pit. There's a hole up above we can get through. Let's go, everyone."

"WAIT... just a darn second." Lapis spoke up for once. He kicked Erakir's nose and broke free of her grasp, landing on his feet. "If you're going to take me through Grasstown, then I may as well lead the way since I'm clearly the only one that knows anything about this place."

"Wait, you know about Gra--"

"I have to give tour guides of more than Mimiga Village. Now, I lead so you all don't get killed."

"Uhh... alright then. You know what's best apparently, Lapis." Sue told him as he walked ahead, climbing up the small hill to get to the hole above.

"Stay close. Things could get disastrous if you don't." The blue Mimiga alerted them as he hopped up out of the pit and into Grasstown. The other five simply did as told, following close behind the male. Lapis turned west and looked forward at the home just above the teleporter. "Before we go see Chaco, let's stop in there and you guys can meet Santa fir--"

"SANTA'S HERE?!!" Sue rushed over and knocked Lapis down under her feet.

"No, Sue. Not Santa Claus. There's a Mimiga who lives here who's name is Santa." Erakir explained to the anxious female.

"Oh.... That sucks." Sue sighed and slumped down atop Lapis.

"Could you... get off..?" Lapis grumbled. Sue looked down and meeped before hopping off of the male. "Thanks... anyway, you guys should go meet him. He's a very kind fellow. I'm sure you'd all like him."

"Err... sure. We can go see him. Let's go, everyone." Erakir smiled and walked on towards Santa's home with the others following. Once there, Lapis stopped at the door.

"You all go on ahead. I'll wait for you out here." Lapis told them.

"Are you sure, Lapis? Don't you want to meet Santa too?" Sue asked.

"I wouldn't mind, but I'm not authorized to enter buildings during work hours aside from lunch break or my own home, or the Assembly Hall, of course."

"Well... if you say so. We won't be long. Come on you all." Kuro and others knocked on the door, which was quickly answered by Santa.

"Hello? Who are you all?"

"MIMIGA WITH PANTS!!!" Erakir tackled Santa to the ground. "Hi Santa! My name's Erakir, it's a pleasure to meet you!"

"Whoareyouandhowdoyouknowmyname?? Get her offa me!" Kuro and Sue grabbed hold of Erakir, pulling her off of Santa. He stood up and took a step back. "Wh-Who are you p-people..?"

"Sorry about that. Erakir, here's just very excited to meet all of you. My name's Kuro, by the way. These three are Sue, Farran, and Silver. It really is quite nice to meet you." Kuro explained and introduced with a paw shake.

"U-Umm.. alright. And apparently, you all know my name. I'm Santa. I live here, as you all can see."

"Mind if we come in for a bit, Santa? We promise not to mess up anything." Erakir asked.

"You aren't going to tackle me down again, are you?" Santa asked with a bit of worry. Erakir shook her head. "Okay then, you all can come in for a bit."

3 hours later...

"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU ALL DO IN THERE?!?!" Lapis snapped at them all.

".....have sex?" Kuro replied.

"You said you wouldn't be long. I sat here waiting for your asses for three whole hours!"

"Relax, Lapis. At least we didn't--"

"Let's see YOU stand here for three hours doing nothing!" Lapis cut in. Sue stood there and thought it over.

"....wow... we're dicks."

"Heh... dicks~" Kuro chuckled. "Santa certainly enjoyed them."

"Ah shaddap! Can we go see Chaco so I can go home please?" Lapis pouted. They all nodded. "Good. Now come on, I need you all to stay focused. There are monsters along the way and I'm not going to be responsible for any deaths."

"What about you? What if you died? Didn't you say you can't fight?" Sue asked.

"......" Lapis stood there. "...touché." He sighed and began his annoying trek to Chaco's house with the group following close behind him. "Keep your eyes out for anything that moves that isn't me, you, or your shadows. If it moves, kill it."

"Sir, yes, sir." Erakir spoke, holding up her gold and silver staff. Farran took hold of his Chrono staff, Silver unsheathed his Soul Eater sword, and Kuro pulled out... a frying pan.

"....Seriously?"

"What? At least I have a weapon, miss fisty." Kuro taunted Sue.

"At least I'm not in another castle!"

"That doesn't even make sense."

"WELL AT LEAST MY FISTS...... don't give me that look!" Kuro chuckled as he gave her a suggestive look. "I wasn't going to say 'that' okay?"

"Sue, Kuro, y'all crazy." Erakir said as she walked next to Lapis.

"ACK! When did you get there?" Lapis jumped.

"I dunno. C'mon, we're wasting time." Erakir walked ahead a bit. Lapis sighed and walked up to her. I can't take much more of this... he thought to himself.

"Hey, what's that thing up ahead?" Erakir asked, setting her sights on a small, green blob-like creature with a propeller on its head.

"That's one of the few monsters you'll have to look out for. These guys aren't a problem. They'll hop up then fly a small distance before plummeting back down. Now, the bigger ones, the blue globs, you'll want to be a little more careful. If they land on you, it won't be a pretty sight. If you want to beat them, I recommend distance or attacking when they hit the ground."

"Right. We'll keep that in mind. Sue, you stay back if you see any. Fists aren't exactly the best thing to use." Farran advised the young girl. Sue pouted but nodded in defeat, knowing it was only for the best. As they approached the small beast, it opened one of its eyes and stared at them as they neared. Erakir walked up towards it and it hopped up a small distance into the air before flying over towards her. She winded up her staff and got ready to attack as it dropped down, swinging at the beast and hitting it hard on the face.

"Ha! Take THAT you thing!" She yelled at it as it flew back into the air before blowing up in a poof of smoke. A few crystalline, golden triangular prisms dropped from where the beast exploded and bounced on the ground. "Huh? What are those things?"

"These are experience points." Lapis walked up to them and absorbed all but one. He picked up the remaining EXP. point. "If you collect these, you can power up and level up your weapon. Small experience points are worth one point. Big ones are five and large ones are worth ten. Leveling up your weapon can help you immensely in the future in any battles you encounter. However, you must be very careful. With every bit of damage you take, your weapon will lose some of its experience, and your weapon is capable of leveling down if too much damage is acquired. To refill the experience, simply defeat enemies or burst open experience capsules to recollect lost experience points." The group simply nodded at the mouthful of a tutorial they were given.

"Yeeeaaah... can we move on now?" Sue asked with impatience. Lapis nodded and continued up the hill that lead to the big jelly's territory.

"Alright, you all, we're almost at the big jelly's. She rests on the ceiling, so be quiet and be careful. There are also monsters on the ground to watch out for. If you're too loud, you might wake her up."

"We get it. Don't get yourself killed, Lapis." Kuro told him. The blue Mimiga pouted and looked away.

"I can defend myself..."

"Good... because we'll be too busy defending our own selves to help you." Erakir set him to the side as she, Kuro, Farran, and Silver walked ahead.

"...meh." Lapis sat back. "They better not come crying to me if they get their asses be--"

"Lapis, we're done!"

"....no way." He stood up and walked over, seeing the place clean of monsters, aside from the big jelly. "...are you serious..?"

"It wasn't exactly hard, nor an issue. They were easy pickings." Erakir smiled. "Come on, the pathway's clear, and I think I can see Chaco's house! We aren't too far away now."

"Umm... good. You guys are stronger than you look." Lapis complimented as he took the lead again. "The rest of the way's pretty much just hills so we've got nothing to worry about."

"Alright. We should stay armed just in case though. You never know what could happen." Kuro suggested.

"Yeah. This place is still a dangerous area. Staying armed is possibly the best choice. There could always be sneak attacks at any corner of any hour at any second. The last thing you want to do is be unarmed. Predators hunt the unarmed prey before they hunt the armed. You'll be dead in seconds from one measly slip up."

"Wow.. this place sounds a lot more dangerous than you first made it sound to be." Farran spoke as he looked around for the slightest movement.

"Grasstown isn't the worst. This place is a haven compared to other places on this island. Anywhere you go, you want to just make sure you're armed in any way, shape, or form, just to ensure you're okay." Lapis explained to them. They all held out their weapons, scanning every inch and meter of the place for anything of any kind that dares to sneak up on them. Luckily, as they approached Chaco's house, nothing attacked them. The group crossed the shallow, knee high water with ease.

"OKAY... I'll stay out here again... this time... PLEASE don't fuck the home owner..."

"Look.. why don't you come in with us this time? So you don't have to worry about waiting three, four, five hours or anything." Kuro suggested.

"But... I'm not authorized to go into homes... I can't..."

"Come on, it's not like any of us will say anything. Would you rather wait out here where it's even more dangerous for however long, or come inside with us?" Kuro asked the tentative blue Mimiga. He gave a sigh and knocked on the door.

"Alright... you win." Lapis said as Chaco opened her door.

"Why, hello there, friends! What are you doing here at this hour?" She asked. "Come in, come in!"

"Uhh.... o-okay." Lapis walked inside with Kuro and company following behind him.

"Oh, silly me. Where are my manners." Chaco giggled as she guided them to her second floor. "My name's Chaco! I live here by myself. It's a nice place too. What are your names, and what are you all doing here so late?"

"Well, my name's Kuro and these are my friends Farran, Erakir, Silver, and Sue. That's our guide Lapis. He helped us get here safely."

"Aww, that's sweet of you. Going out of your way to help out these guys." Chaco smiled sweetly at the group.

"Eh... it's just my job, really..." Lapis blushed faintly. "And these guys wanted to meet you, actually. I was forcefully dragged along and decided, if I'm going, I should guide them. Soooooo... here we are. Hope you don't mind."

"No, not at all, really. It's just odd getting visitors this late at night." Chaco told them as she stood in front of her fireplace.

"What time is it exactly? It's so hard telling when all you see around you are walls." Sue said.

"Oh, I don't know the exact time, but I can tell that it's nearing eleven at night. You guys should stay here for the night. I have a guest room where you all can sleep upstairs. Follow me!"

"You guys go ahead, I want to check out this fireplace." Kuro told them. Chaco nodded and lead the rest of the group upstairs. While the purple Mimiga had her paws full, Kuro was staring at the cackling flames, the faint shine of light given from the fire illuminating the area around him and bringing a brilliant, yellow-orange glow to his eyes.

"Hm... something about this fireplace just doesn't seem right..." He stared deeper into the flames, scanning over the dancing embers. It was then that he saw the smallest speck of a hole through the back of Chaco's fireplace. "It's a pathway... something's behind the fire but... I'd shrivel if I tried going through that fire... I'll see what I can do about that tomorr--"

"Want to get through my fireplace, eh?" Kuro stiffened and looked behind him to see Chaco standing right behind him.

"Uhh... when did you...?"

"Not long ago. If you want to get through my fireplace to the other side of Grasstown you'll need some Jellyfish Juice. It's the only way to get across. You'll have to go back and get some. The big jelly has it." She explained.

"Wait... can't I just use water..?"

"I tried that before. This is no ordinary flame. Water doesn't put out the fire."

"Ah. Well. I'll get into that some other time. But right now, I guess I'll just get some rest. It's been a long day."

"Hmm... well, everyone's already fast asleep upstairs. It would be rude to interrupt them. Why don't you sleep with me tonight?" Chaco suggested. Kuro stopped and thought it over. He was just offered to get in bed with a rather cute Mimiga that wore nothing more than a two piece bikini that looked like it wasn't doing its best to cover her well sized breasts. Being the kind and courteous--PERVERT--Mimiga he is, he agreed to her request.
