#1 of With In Our Darkest Hours

Um...Hello again to anyone out there who follows me. It feels like it's been FOREVER since I managed to post anything on this site, but...the time has come. I have been away on vacation for the last ten days and have gotten a considerable amout of work written leaving me holding not one, or two, but 13 Chapters on a story I like to call: "Within Our Darkest Hours." This was the story that I said for the longest time I have been writing and it's still not even close to being finished, however, I decided that I have enough written material and plot to start posting. This and the first chapater I will post today and if time permits, I will try to make times between posts not too long. Thanks for all your patience and I hope someone out there enjoy this.

Have a good read

"How's his vital's"

"Stable, the sedatives are wearing thin but he's relaxed."

"And the blood samples?"

"Great, he's completely healthy. An excellent choice."

The rabbit on the table rolled his eyes around in his sockets before opening them to piercing white lights. He flinched, feeling the heat streaming off of the high powered lamp aimed specifically at an uncomfortable angle. He squinted, trying to get a good look around the room with no effect. The lamp was aimed specifically so that he could not see anything accept the ceiling. He tried to move, lifting his paw only to have it caught on something.

What the hell?

The rabbit tried to lift his head to see what his arm was snagged on only to feel the same jerking motion with his neck. He tried his other appendages, which felt like lead bricks but were still caught. His muscles burned, his head hurt and he was stuck. Stuck to what and where however he was unsure of. He could here paw steps and the quickening beeps from the EKG meter that must be somewhere in the room. Squinting in the light to try and make out shapes, he only saw the faint silhouettes of two figures wearing surgical clothes. His eyes moved around the room as his heart rate quickened with his ever so returning feeling to his limbs. All he could see was light, nothing more. Even a description of the room eluded his eyes and tongue. The strong sickening smell of sterilizing disinfectant made his eys water and throat burn. His ears pressed flat as he tried to fight a losing battle with the sedatives. He tried to speak, scream, moan, but something was restraining his tongue to the roof of his mouth. A low grunt was the only thing that resonated from his maw.

One of the shadows, the slightly taller of the two approached the struggling rabbit and placed a large cold paw on his chest. The paw was smooth, covered in white latex, the shadows arms covered by long white coat sleeves. His breathing became heavy.

"Whad ther fucccc!?" The rabbit tried to bellow out making the shadow shake its covered face slowly.

" I'm so sorry it had to be this way, I really am, but I have to do what must be done...for his sake."

The voice sounded older and choked behind the white surgical mask it wore. The second shadow walked around towards the rabbits restrained head and jabbed something into it under his neck. If felt like a sharp pin prick hit him in the throat followed by a sensation he was not used to. Everything in the room started to fade out, grow dark as the EKG beeps slowed down greatly. He heard an electrical switch flip, a loud screeching machine start up and then nothing as his vision faded into black.

The last words he ever heard were whispered into his ears, by a soft spoken voice.

"I'm sorry I lied to you..."
