The night air was pierced through by fat yellow fire flies that danced through the night air and moved back and forth through the trees that created pockets of darker shadows. They echoed the stars above, but unlike the stars their constellations shift and move every few moments as they traffled along their love sick flight. The air was cooling from the day, but still held that humid edge that was thickly scented with the rain that had fallen earlier in the afternoon. The quiet sound of the crickets echoed and mingled with the buzzing noises of the insects as they called to each other. It was peaceful and idyllic. It lacked even a hint of fear in the creatures that moved through the night. It was a sort of Eden that welcomed those that walked the moonlit paths.

It was the forest that he had grown up in and the forest that he loved. It was the world that he had always known and never ventured from. The wolf that stalked the night was as much a part of the darkness as he was the forest. His broad paws danced over the ground as he passed through the brush and pricked his ears up to the sound of a few rabbits scurrying before him. Azure tilted his head up and briefly looked up at the moon as it filtered down through the evergreen trees. The long boughs partially blocked out the moonlight, but enough spilled through to make silver patterns along the ground like frost. In the darkness the wolf's coat looked like just another black lupine's. There wasn't even a hint of his true color as he slipped past the pine trees and deeper into his territory.

His color was the same as a moonlit night, a deep blue that was nearly black in the day light. It marked him apart from other wolves. The only similarity between himself and a traditional wolf's coat was in the pattern of white that trailed along the underside of his jaw and stomach. He moved through the forest on his own, without a pack to call home or one that might tolerate him for even a few hunts. He was too different, too strange, too odd for them. He made his home in the midst of a forest that the wolves told stories of being haunted and possessed of strange creatures. No pack challenged his ownership of it and that was enough for him. He had found it no stranger than any forest, but he was used to it. He was used to the strange peaceful surroundings and the sound of the wind slipping through the trees.

They don't understand this place. They don't try to understand it. They are afraid of it. He thought to himself as he trotted along a path that wound itself up along a cliff face. I wonder if I would be afraid if I had stayed with a pack.

It was a question that lingered on his mind at times when he observed some strange happening. They weren't frightening, but he noticed that the deer and rabbits did not fear him. They didn't flee his passage unless he was on the hunt. They knew when he was safe and when he wasn't. He found himself just as happy to leave them be as long as he could snap up a bite to eat from fruit bushes or something similar. He could remember the pack he had been born in howling and slavering for meat. He could remember the deer fleeing or charging them with barely contained rage. He could even remember how they would hunt down great herds of elk and the anger and need that infected all of them. But not Azure, and not here. Here he was able to think clearly and not allow his instincts to be carried away.

And it was here that he developed other interests that had nothing to do with filling his stomach or impressing a mate. The wolf passed along the path with eagerness and dread in his trotting paws. It was the full moon. It was the brightest full moon he had seen this summer and it was the night that he dreaded and adored all in one. The night that he would be able to see the heavens and be unable to touch them, but he couldn't turn away from that small glimpse. The wolf could feel his belly clenching up with barely suppressed eagerness as he dropped to his belly and started to creep upwards along the edge of the cliff face. He wanted to turn away, but he wouldn't. He had had the argument with himself over and over again, but he never turned away despite his desire to do so.

I am a foolish wolf. Why do I keep doing this to myself? Why do I keep coming here? He snarled to himself as he reached the overhang of the cliff and flattened himself as far down to the ground as he could I keep doing this and I'm making myself miserable.

_ _

He mentally berated himself as he looked down over the small circle of a clearing below. It was ringed by ancient oak trees and holly and nearly perfectly circular. It centered around a silver stream that bubbled and slipped through the middle and created a miniature water fall. It was a lovely piece of land that would have drawn him either which way. But it wasn't the land that brought him out under the full moon. It wasn't the reason he came here month after month waiting and watching. He came here because of the unicorn. He came here to watch from afar and study a creature so handsome, graceful and pure that he all but felt his heart breaking when dawn came and the equine turned to leave with the sun.

_This will be the last time. I can't do this any longer. It's worse then wanting a pack, worse then food-hunger or water-hunger. I can't keep watching. Oh but how I want to see him again _ Azure whined softly to himself as he settled on his belly to hide his white fur and angled his eyes to watch the stream. Just one more time...

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Orion flicked his ears up and drew in a breath of the sweet warm summer air. He could taste the night blooming flowers on the air and it teased over him with an intoxicating mixture that left him feeling more alive than he had felt in years. Summer was always full of life and to the unicorn it seemed to pulse with the lovely miracle of growth. The plants had grown lush and thick after the sparse winter and shaky spring. The path that he was used to taking was nearly overgrown with ivy that had spread through the underbush and twined itself through the nearby trees and rocks. It was truly a lovely evening to be alive and it made the unicorn pick up his cloven hooves in a high stepping trot as he let his keen nose take him towards the spring.

The unicorn's deep red coat was nearly lost in darkness. He had heard other lands that boasted unicorns with coats of snowy glistening white, but not here. Never here. This forest and these lands were as old as time and from the first time he had taken his wobbly steps he knew the truth of his kind. He was hunted. He was hunted as surely as the hart, as surely as the rabbit, but with far more eagerness from those that trailed him. His kind had started to grow darker coats to make them harder to hunt and it was easier to hide. They took on colors that would assure that they would be able to able to hide in the worst of the winter hunts.

The unicorn gave his head a shake at his own maudlin thoughts and turned his ears up to listen to a few of the night insects chattering away. The full moon illuminated his path and he felt relief that he was returning to the familiar place. He couldn't quite remember when he started to come to the spring, but the first time he tasted those cold sweet waters he had always returned. He migrated from two forests that he tended as his own, but each time he came through this place he stopped to drink his fill and sleep in the sheltered hollow where he would be unmolested by predators or hunters that might wish to do him harm.

_It was made for me. _ He thought to himself as he ducked his head down beneath a group of pine trees and slipped onto a small dark path that led towards the rocky cliff faces that signaled he was nearing his resting spot.

"YOU TRESSPASS!" A voice snarled from the darkened path just before the moonlight illuminated a set of large white fangs gleaming from under the bushes.

Orion reared back with a squeak and flattened his ears down against his head. "Let me pass! This forest is-"

"Is OURS." The fanged muzzle snarled at him before the bushes stirred in front of him. And around him.

The unicorn pranced backwards as silver and black furred wolves padded out from where they had arranged themselves and wrinkled their lips back to show finger long fangs and red tongues that lapped their jaws. The harsh sharp scent of the predators hit his muzzle and he threw his head up with an angry squeal and arched his neck to bring his horn into a state of readiness. He centered his eyes on the massive silver wolf that lowered his head and let out a barking laugh deep in his throat. The pack leader's jaws showed droplets of saliva as he took a step forward.

"I will kill you if I must." The unicorn flared his nostrils as the harsh wild predator's scents assaulted him. "STAND DOWN!"

"Run, Unicorn." The pack leader licked his muzzle with a flash of his broad tongue. "Give us a full moon hunt worthy of the name. Run and let us taste that sweet magical blood."

"Run! Run, Unicorn! Run! Ru-AAAAAOO-OOOOOOOO-OO!" The pack taunted him to run until the words rose up in a wavering chilling howl that rose up on the warm summer air. Orion's blood turned cold at the sound and the wolves started to close in.

With a shrill squeal of defiance he turned on his hooves and tore off into the darkness of the night. His heart hammering against his chest as the hunting wolves called their blood-song behind him and drove him forward.

I will not end this way!!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Azure rested his muzzle on his paws as he listened to the night and watched the still silvery pool beneath the cliff restlessly. He kept starting at the least little noise and expected to see the lovely graceful being that always came here. His heart beat faster at the soft crackle of bushes and his nose twitched as he tried to taste the sweet scent of apples and pine trees that always came with the strange creature. He pledged to himself that tonight would be the last time, that he would no longer lose his evenings watching a creature that he could not hope to possess. He would no longer pass his life by yearning for magic that had no right to touch him. He would no longer-

"AAAAAAAOOOO-OOOOOOOOO-OOOOOO!!" The blue wolf flicked his ears up at the high pitching howl that pierced the night sky and sent night birds tearing off of their perches.

A pack? Hunting this close to THIS forest? He flicked his ears back and stood up with a wince to his cramped muscles. This is my territory!

He stifled his annoyance that any pack would come near his forest and instead tried to puzzle out the howl and what on earth had brought a pack this far into a forest reputed to be haunted. Azure felt a pang of longing as the howls were taken up by the group, howls of a family that ran together with one beating heart. It was something he could never, would never possess. He flattened his ears down against his head and stopped himself from whining. Instead he turned away from the cliff and nearly missed the shrill equine scream of rage and fear that tore through the night sky and sent a tremor rolling down his back.

The wolf had watched the unicorn for years. He had watched him drink and watched him rest, watched him run and watched him strike at errant leaves with his forehooves. He had never heard the creature utter a single noise save soft snorts or whickers, but he knew. He knew in his heart that the sound was torn free of a creature so lovely that it hurt his heart to look upon. So perfect that he would tear the stars from the skies to ensure that his kind walked the earth and offered up their beauty. Azure flattened his ears and without more than a twinge of fear launched himself along the cliff side path and towards the howling pack. His kind was on the hunt and they hunted that which he loved. His paws flew over the earth as he stretched himself out and heard the unicorn scream out again.

_No, no! Just one more time! I wanted to see you one more time! But not like this! I won't let them have you! _ Azure snarled to himself and tore into the heart of the forest.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The unicorn launched himself through the darkness of the forest at full speed. His cloven hooves tore up clods of dirt beneath him as he ducked through the darkness of the trees and through the bushes while his ears flattened flat back down against his head. He could feel the breath burning in his lungs as each stride stretched his body out before he flew over the ground. His ears flicked down against his head as he heard the howling hunting calls behind him. They rose and fell in haunting cries that forced him onwards until his sides were damp with sweat. His cloven hooves dug down into the earth and he took a tree in a flying leap.

"RUN RUN!! RUN FOR US UNICORN!" The howls taunted him and he dared rear his head back to see the wolves tearing behind him at full speed.

They flashed silver and black in the moonlight, their white throats were like flags while their eyes glowed each time the moonlight caught them right. Orion's eyes rolled and flashed white as he drew in a great breath and forced himself faster. He tore through the bushes so that the dry branches scraped and pulled against him. They caught in his sides and snarled in his mane, but he didn't slow down for them or try to move quietly. He wasn't going to escape by stealth, not now, not with the pack following him and drawing in his scent and watching his hooves flashing in front of them. He twisted his head about and caught sight of a creek that twisted its way through the heart of the forest.

_The creek! If I can get across in a leap, they'll be forced to swim across. _ He thought wildly to himself and pinned his ears flat to his head. _And, gods willing, I can cover my tracks and head south and towards the shore. They won't follow me there. Just grant me speed. _

_ _

He heard the snarls behind him and to his horror he saw a flash of silver a moment before a pair of large fangs snapped at his foreleg. He squealed out and twisted away from the snapping fangs and launched himself forward. It staggered his run and the wolves started to match his strides to either side, but the unicorn kept his eyes locked on the creek and his only hope. He willed his burning muscles to have strength as he spotted a slight rise where he could use it for height. With a defiant squeal he turned his head to snap at the wolf trying to sidle up to his fore shoulder and made a dash for the rise. He could make it! He would make it!

He scrambled through old leaves, but his hooves caught a hold of stone and scrabbled before he launched himself forward. He reared up and kicked off with his hind legs, but to his horror the stone beneath him didn't hold for his thrust off it. It tumbled beneath his hooves so that he went down with it. He scrabbled and tried to recover from his leap, but the stone rolled down the muddy hill while he let out a short squeal as his body went crashing down the side of the creek and his legs tangled beneath him. Bits of old leaves kicked up as he desperately kicked out with his hind legs and heard a wolf yelp out as his hoof connected with a jaw. And above him. Above him the wolves howled out their victory as their broad soft paws carried them down to where the unicorn crashed.

Not like this.. Please.. Orion's eyes rolled as he came to a thudding halt and saw the wolves slavering fangs and tongues rushing towards him. Please...

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Azure ran through the forest as fast as his paws would carry him. His nose caught the sweet scent of the unicorn ahead of him and he could also pick up the musk of a strange pack. He didn't need those scents to lead him onwards, all he needed was the hunting howls as the pack harried and drove their prey before them. The blue wolf twisted from side to side as he dodged through the forest and took every short cut he could think of. The woods themselves seemed to aid him as he found openings in a blink of an eye and he didn't lose his footing no matter how treacherous. The wind whipped past his ears as his heart pounded against his chest. With each beat he felt terror that he would hear the death squeal of the sweetest creature he had ever seen.

He crashed through year old leaves and scrambled down a hill side just as he saw the stallion. The powerful muscles rippled as the unicorn reared up and launched himself from a rock that elevated a part of the creek's shore. For a moment, the wolf could only watch at the powerful sight of the forelegs raised up in the air and the snapping of the leonine tail as it prepared to escape. And then, all he knew was terror as the rock the unicorn leapt from crumbled beneath him and the creature went tumbling down the shore. The hooves and tails kicked as the terrified equine scream echoed through the forest and sent raw terror running through the blue wolf. The pack was closing in on their prey.

NO! No! It's not fair!! Azure screamed to himself in anguish. I won't let them!

_ _

Some part of the wolf knew better, some part of the wolf knew that he would be torn apart by a full pack of wolves. He couldn't stand against them and hope to live, but his heart nearly broke at the idea of the lovely unicorn torn to shreds. His dark coat matted down with blood and the brilliant eyes glazed in death. He didn't care. He threw himself down the hill and felt his lips curling up in a snarl as he whipped through bushes and saw the wolves leaping down the side of the creek and towards their downed prey. He didn't pause in his run or take time to think when he howled out in a wild enraged voice.

"HOW DARE YOU HUNT THIS LAND!" It bellowed out from his lungs as he tucked his legs under him and dodged the half caved area to land upon a fallen tree.

He loomed over the creek and scene beneath him sent sickening fear and blinding rage through him. The mud spattered unicorn was trying to force himself onto his hooves, but was favoring his hind leg. Despite his injury his proud head was lowered and the tapered sharp tip of his horn was brought down in readiness to the circling pack of wolves. His eyes flashed with fear and anger as he eyed his enemies and didn't even look up as the wolves had to stare at the wolf above him. Azure felt his heart turn over in his chest. His unicorn, his beautiful unicorn of moonlit nights and silver waters, muddied and injured by his own kind.

"We are the Lythorr Pack and we claim this as ours!" A dark wolf snarled up at him. "This is our prey and we shall feast well on his meat and magic!"

"HOW DARE YOU!" Azure bellowed the words again and wrinkled up his lips to show every one of his white teeth. "You shall feed us well for coming into our territory. Your flesh will nourish my forest and land, your bones will feed the mice and rabbits, your fur will line the nests of my birds' nests!"

"There's only one." He heard a smaller wolf whisper towards the pack leader. Azure didn't' know what he was doing, he only knew that if he didn't do something all that he had ever cared about would be dead at his paws.

"Fools! We are the forest! We chose to be like yourselves so that you could understand our speech." The blue wolf bristled his hackles before dropping down to leap to a patch of relatively dry land. "And we say you are our prey now. You hunt what is precious to us, what we love and we shall kill you!"

Please please let this work. Oh stupid stupid wolf, you're both about to be killed. He thought in agony, but kept his lips bared as he walked forward stiff legged.

"Kill him. He's mad." The pack leader snarled to several of his pack and Azure felt his stomach turn over in terror.

The hand of the gods took pity upon him and the trees shifted so that the moonlight cast itself down brightly over him. Far more brightly then he had ever seen it, but it flashed over his back until his royal blue fur seemed to glow around him. In front of the wolves that advanced he grew larger and the blue brighter as if a bit of the azure summer sky had been carved into a wolf. His eyes blazed down at them over glistening white fangs and a long red tongue that licked out when he snapped out an enraged snarl. Their paws hesitated and then froze as they gaped at him.

"Blue.. That's not a wolf!" One of the younger wolves yelped out and tucked his tail between his legs. "They said a blue wolf was here!"

With those words the pack dissolved into a state of panic that at any other time Azure would have burst out laughing, but he held still. If they thought he was truly flesh and blood or had no powers they would tear him to shreds. The wolves tore off snarling and twisting their heads to gaze back at him fearfully before their tails tucked between their legs even further in an attempt to make themselves small. The moonlight around him slowly started to grow dimmer as the trees overhead blocked the moonlight from falling down over him.

"I don't suppose it's too much to hope that you aren't going to eat me?" A weary voice asked and the unicorn lifted his proud mud spattered head to eye him warily.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Orion wanted to curl his legs beneath him, put his head down and shake all over from exhaustion. If he could suck down all the water in the creek first he might just believe that he'd died and was in the havens. Instead he eyed the strange wolf warily as the snarling figure watched the wolves tear off into the forest. It mattered little to him that they had left except he had a chance now to defeat one wolf instead of half a dozen of them. The blue furred wolf only held his pose so long as it took the unicorn to ask the question with a dry weary humor. The ears on the creature fell back and the unicorn lowered his horn warily as he limped back a step in the water. Oh his hind leg hurt!

"I'm not going to eat you! What a vile thought!" The wolf shook himself out and the fur that had been bristling started to smooth out. "I came to save you."

Orion stared at the wolf and didn't know whether to laugh or charge the wolf on sight. "I'm not going to let you take me that easily, wolf! If you came to save me then you can turn around and leave me in peace before your stomach overtakes your reason. If you think to eat me I will show you it will be no easy fight."

"I..." The ears flattened even more and the lupine lowered his head. It was a particularly strange expression on such a fearsome head. "I didn't come to eat you. I pledge you, I came only to save you. I heard them hunting and y-your scream. Please, I will not attack you."

The unicorn tossed his head up and regarded the wolf haughtily and shifted his weight so that it was entirely taken off of his aching left hind leg. What was the wolf playing at? The creature stood several feet away with the ears splayed and his body language screamed of being embarrassed or guilty or some similar emotion. The ears were angled back and the head lowered. Even the tail was lowered. He almost expected to see him looking to one side, but the bright eyes stared at him with a raw hungry look in the dark gaze. It wasn't food hunger, but as if the wolf was mesmerizing him. It made him uneasy and he shifted again and partially lowered his hind leg before letting out a hiss of pain.

"I'm hurt. I am not in a good mood." The unicorn finally offered a bit gruffly. "Thank you for helping me and chasing the wolves away. I am Orion."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Azure watched the unicorn's every move eagerly. He'd never been so close to the unicorn and he'd never seen him so clearly. From above he'd only been able to see bits and pieces, from below he was able to see the regal head, the proud chest and powerful muscles. The creature was as graceful and, almost, dainty as he could have imagined. It made his heart hurt to look upon him and nearly slipped away as the creature wished him to do. What right did he have to be around this beast? What right did he have to expect a blue wolf to capture such a regal creature's gaze? He should leave now and put such unnatural thoughts away, but when he tried to force his body into action he found himself lost in just watching him. He nearly embarrassed himself by jerking when the unicorn, Orion, spoke a gruff thank you.

"I'm Azure." He replied and wagged his tail tip slowly back and forth. "That pack shouldn't have been here. This forest is special and they aren't welcome here. Are you hurt badly? Are you bleeding?"

"I don't know." Orion turned on his long neck, but the wolf noticed a wary eye remained on him as the unicorn tried to nose his haunch. "I think I fell badly. It is likely only a sprain. It will heal."

"Oh." Azure licked his lips and groped for something else to say. He'd never felt so awkward in all his life. He felt as if he was blundering with every word he tried to say. "Are you sure? I can look."

"No!" The unicorn's head came up and the nostrils flared wide. The panicked response was sharp enough that Azure tucked his tail between his legs and the unicorn's expression softened. "I'm sorry. I'm not used to talking to wolves. Normally I only see their teeth."

"I'm different from other wolves." Azure tilted his head to one side and flicked his ears back along his head. "I was born different so I live here. This forest likes me and it keeps me safe."

"So I saw. Blue fur." The unicorn gave his head a shake and the mane fell in dark frothing locks along the arch of the neck. "You have no pack?"

"None." He felt a twinge of bitterness. "I have no pack. Why would they want a cursed wolf? Here I can eat when I need to and enjoy the peace. It might be lonely, but I'm not mocked or beaten because I'm different and strange."

The unicorn lifted his head up and Azure fought the urge to squirm under the gaze that regarded him, he fought not to tuck his tail and creep into the darkness. Orion finally gave a snort and looked back at his haunches again. "Perhaps you could look at my leg. If I'm truly hurt..."

"I promise I won't hurt you." Azure lowered his forebody in a bow to the unicorn. "I would never hurt you. If I wanted to I would have the first time I saw you, but it never crossed my mind. I promise."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Orion forced himself to hold still as the strange wolf padded up along his side and tried not to flinch. Up close the muzzle looked even larger then before and the wolf came up to just beneath his shoulders. He had no idea why he offered to let Azure take a look at his haunch, but the strangely hurt voice as he spoke stirred him. The loneliness in the tone tugged at his own heart strings so the offer came to his lips with very little thought. Now, he was just trying to not shiver as the wolf padded up to his haunch and he felt the cool nose brush against the outside of his haunch and start to sniff. The wolf, for his part, wagged his tail slowly as if to reassure the unicorn. It was only when he felt the muzzle brush against his lower ankle to examine the lifted hind hoof.

"The first time?" Orion flicked his ears up. "I've never seen you before in my life."

"Ah.." The wolf glanced at him guiltily. "I know where you stop to drink from the spring. There's a cliff and.. I used to watch you there. I'd never seen your like before and I found you fascinating. So I liked to sneak up there and watch you when I knew you would come through."

"You watched me? I never heard you or smelled you when I went there." The unicorn felt the cool brush of the nose trail higher along his leg. The whiskers tickled slightly as the wolf paused along the upper leg and gave it a gentle nosing.

"Does that hurt?" The wolf asked evasively.

"MMph, doesn't feel pleasant." Orion flicked his ears back briefly. "Why didn't I ever see any sign of you?"

"Here, I'll try and help it a little if you'll believe me when I say I'm not taste testing you." The wolf glanced back at him and wagged his tail a bit faster at his humor. When Orion didn't reply he sighed. "I'm good at hiding, it's what I do. It keeps me from getting in trouble, you know."

"I can see that. Until trouble came to you." The unicorn tossed his head up a little bit and whickered laughter before forcing himself to relax.

The first brush of the hot tongue swirled up along the curve of his hind leg. It scraped against the fur in a not unpleasant manner and worked around in a circle as Azure kept to the area that ached dully. The warm breath ran against his hide and almost felt comforting as the tongue stroked up in smooth steady motions that cut off any chance for real conversation. Orion was just as happy to leave it go, but he wondered what had brought the wolf returning time and again to the same place just to see him. A small hint of egotism made him arch his neck at the idea that someone had enjoyed him so much that he had returned to see him each time he came through.

_When was the last time anyone saw me and didn't hunt me that wasn't a silly empty headed deer? _ He sighed a little bit and let himself relax more into the warming strokes of the wolf tongue.

It was comforting in some ways to feel the warmth of another being caring for him and helping him. In other ways, it was more than comforting. The strong strokes rubbed against his fur and circled the area until the pain started to fade and he became aware of the very warm body nearly pressed against his legs. The scent of wolf wasn't something he found appealing, but Azure didn't have the sharp harsh scent the pack of wolves did. He almost smelled pleasant in his own way. It tickled his nose and made him wriggle his lips back and forth a little before dropping his head down to curiously hover his nose just over the base of the tail. He smelled sweet and like herbs, all of the best herbs all rolled into one. And he smelled of male. The latter scent tickled a part of him he normally kept hidden, quite hidden.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Azure flicked his tongue up and continued to work over the small scrape on the hide until it was as clean as he could possibly make it. Orion was just as lovely up close as he was far away. He beautiful and the scent of him was like autumn leaves and apples on his tongue. He made himself think of nothing but trying to make the wound feel better, but his eyes were on a level with a certain part that caught his eye. The sheath was very equine like and the glans was just visible from the heavy pouch that rested a head of a set of large swollen orbs. The warm masculine scent tickled against his nose and made him breathe in a deeper scent before he forced his attention to go back to licking and cleaning the area firmly to make sure it wouldn't become infected.

There was more than one reason for why he was an outcast and his coat was only one. What the other wolves would have thought if they had known that he had no desire for bitches he had no idea, but he could imagine. He would have been killed or attacked or any number of things. It was a desire he kept firmly tucked away from everyone save the one or two lovers he had found so briefly. But none of them had been as lovely as this unicorn. None of them had been so bold and proud. He felt a stab of shame that he was supposed to be helping, not fantasizing about what he wanted to really do with his tongue. He swallowed the urge to 'accidentally' lick higher and squeezed his eyes closed in an attempt to take away the temptation.

His eyes came open a few moments later as a hot breath puffed against his haunches and he nearly embarrassed himself by jerking away. Instead he froze as the warm breath ruffled against his fur as if examining him and he dared to glance back to see the unicorn's eyes half closed as he snuffled. Orion almost looked as if he were day dreaming as the muzzle hovered above his haunches. Azure didn't pull away, but he did become aware that the unicorn was reacting in a very strange way. He looked beneath the belly to see the glans starting to drop down from the heavy pouch. The dark shaft lowered itself inch by inch and started to grow a bit thicker as the unicorn continued to snuffle against the wolf's haunches in that dreamy way.

Oh gods. This isn't fair! _ Azure nearly wailed in his own mind. _Maybe I smell like a mare? This is not fair!

_ _

His ears flattened back against his head as he felt a moment of being torn between stepping away with a light hearted announcement of being done or to try and press things. He nearly pulled back, he wanted to pull back. He couldn't. If this was it, if this was all he had? He squeezed his eyes shut and braced himself before he ducked his head so his next lick caught right against the tip of the glans and swirled around it. He pulled lightly and tasted the warm masculine flavor of male and worked upwards inch by inch in a smooth swift line that left the flesh glistening in his passage. The unicorn beside him stiffened and Azure pulled his head back and felt his ears darken in an ashamed blush.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Orion didn't know what to think when a warm wet brush of a tongue trailed along his dark shaft and he froze in the midst of drawing in another deep breath of the wolf's scent. He didn't know what to do. For a moment he thought that maybe the wolf had missed his leg, but the wolf had gone still as well. Neither of them moved and the unicorn could barely get himself to say something that might excuse the fact he'd been dropping while sniffing at the wolf's haunches. He tilted his head up just enough to see the wolf's head beneath his belly and swallowed. Those fangs were so close to his most sensitive of parts, but all he could think of was that he wanted to feel that tongue again. Oh he wanted to feel it, he wanted to feel the heat of it stroking up along his girth. The stab of desire shocked him as his girth flexed up and slapped against his chest.

"Ah-I..." He started to make an excuse for himself. Wracked his mind to say something other then he was sniffing at the wolf and thinking about doing things that a stallion just shouldn't do to another male.

The excuse was lost as the tongue flicked out again and this time he felt the slippery heat dragging right along the underside of his shaft and pulling higher. The full stroke had him trembling and he whickered out and rolled his hips forward to bump right against the wolf's muzzle when the tongue flicked up against his glans. The tongue was so long and soft, it stroked and teased him until the stallion shifted his haunches and dropped his hurt hind leg with no matter for the ache on his hip. The wolf glanced back at him and the moonlight caught the needy eyes that watched him with a hunger that had nothing to do with food. The tongue flicked up again and caught right against Orion's glans and gave a slow pulling lick until a thick drop of his precum started to form along it.

"Don't stop." The unicorn's voice sounded rough as he lifted a fore leg and slipped it over the wolf and took a step backwards.

It was an awkward position, but it left the wolf's head brushing against the underside of his belly as he dropped his muzzle to bump and push right against the base of the blue tail. Azure didn't question his request, instead he felt a hot gripping maw suddenly wrap around his cock tip and pull him inwards. The blunt glans was pushed down around the edges as the powerful muzzle swallowed around his cock tip and the stallion crouched his hips before thrusting forward slowly. He let the inches sink in just enough that he could feel his tip grazing against the back of the throat before he stopped and let the tongue curl around his tip and suck harder about him. The hot breath puffed against him while the wolf's tail tickled and hit right against his chin.

The tight heat made his tail snap and lash behind him as he nipped and pinched lightly at the base of the wolf's tail. The tail itself kept tickling against him as it wagged faster and harder rather than tucking between his legs as if he were upset at what was happening or afraid. The hot slippery muzzle pushed upwards and the wolf stepped forward as another few inches started to plunge into the throat before he pulled back again. It made his shaft pulse slightly and he groaned out in pleasure as he arched his hip and began to thrust forward gingerly. He didn't want to hurt his new found friend, but the muzzle pushed forward until the lips were straining around him and felt the whiskers tickling right against his medial ring. The stallion shuddered in pleasure and nuzzled in against the blue furred hips beneath him, his fear forgotten under the pleasured surprise of finding a wolf so like himself.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Azure couldn't believe he was doing this, but he wasn't going to question it. He wasn't going to ever question it. He felt the stallion's back pressing against him as he opened his muzzle and let the blunt glans pushing into his muzzle and over his tongue. He suckled carefully around it and made sure that he angled his head so that he didn't even chance his teeth coming anywhere near the tender flesh. He tasted thick viscous drops of precum that drooled out of the tip and his throat bobbed slightly as he swallowed it down and pushed his head forward. He didn't stop until he felt the tip pushing right into his throat he had to rearrange his head so he could slip it down along the hot suckling passage. His ears splayed to either side and he felt almost light headed with disbelief.

_I can't believe I'm doing this. I can't believe he's not driving me off. _

His tail wagged faster and he felt teeth lightly pinching and the large muzzle nuzzling in against the base of his tail playfully. The stallion's hips gave a few thrusts as the wolf started to move his head back and forth. The strands of his saliva clung to the thickened flesh as the thick goopy drops of precum oozed out and he had to swallow quickly to keep it from drooling out along the corners of his lips. He pushed upwards further until he started to feel the medial ring brush against his lips before pulling back. The stallion was large! So large! His jaws ached as he tried to hold the entire length along the softness of his tongue as he pulled backwards again.

The thickened tip popped free of his muzzle with a wet noise and he licked his lips as he felt strands of precum clinging against his muzzle and then he started to lick hotly right along the underside of the shaft and around the head. The pulsing silvery droplets of pre splattered against the bridge of his muzzle before he pushed his head up and wrapped his lips around the tip again. His breathing came a bit faster as he pushed upwards just a few inches and let the shaft glide over his tongue. He licked as much as he could with the tightness of his muzzle and the way it was strained open, but it didn't last long this time. The stallion's hips jerked back and the tip slipped free even as he was trying to push it down along his throat again. The muzzle on his hips gave him a light nip.

"Turn around.. please.." The unicorn's voice was slightly roughened.

"Y-you want to." The wolf licked his messy muzzle and flicked his ears back before he stopped questioning. He wasn't going to question!

It took him a moment, but he managed to twist his body about so his shoulders pressed up against the powerful chest and the dark muzzle dropped down to nose against him. The unicorns tongue flicked up to curl beneath his muzzle and he tasted the sweet scents on the air that was unique to him. A shiver ran through Azure's body as he felt Orion's shaft bumping up against his tail and grazing just along the underside. He flicked his tail upwards and to one side before spreading his legs apart. He could barely feel embarrassed as he realized his dark red shaft was entirely pushed out from his sheath. Nothing mattered, nothing but this and what was happening. It was like some strange fever dream.

The unicorn's tip pushed right up against his pucker and smeared thick heavy strands of precum along his pink pucker and he trembled slightly. The stallion's muzzle lifted up to nuzzle right against the back of his neck until Orion's blunt teeth nipped his neck playfully. He arched his neck and gave a push back of his hips encouragingly as the tip probed and pressed against him a bit more firmly. It was as if that was what the stallion had been waiting for. The powerful haunches pushed down and Azure let out a cry as the tip spread his taut anal ring open steadily. The walls spread open wider and wider to wrap around the powerful girth and the next spill of precum rushed into him as the stallion made his claim.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Orion couldn't think. He didn't want to think. The wolf beneath him was nearly trembling, but it wasn't with fear. The scent of arousal was on the air as the large stallion crouched his hips and felt his tip pressing right up against the warm silky opening of the pucker. The saliva and precum mingled together as he rubbed his tip back and forth and reached back to scruff his savior lightly. The warm scent of herbs and musk rose to his muzzle as he gave a slow short push of his hips forward and felt the tight pucker spread open around his glans. The walls stretched open wider and wider and Azure cried out under him. He nearly pulled back at the cry, but the wolf was pushing his hips backwards to help impale himself on the dark stallionhood.

The unicorn snorted out and his glans forced the walls open wider and wider as he took his time thrusting forward. The clutching muscles squeezed and suckled around him as if they were trying to pull them in deeper. He muffled his whicker against the scruff of the wolf's neck as he drove himself in until his medial ring nudged the pucker and then pulled backwards again. He could feel his precum spreading inside of the passage and being driven inwards with each thrust of his hips. The wolf was so tight and hot around him! He couldn't remember the last time he had been with anyone, let alone someone that writhed and arched with such obvious pleasure beneath him. The thick furred tail hit lightly against his side as the stallion gave a firmer thrust of his hips that pushed the ridge of his medial ring into the passage and he had to crouch his hips down lower.

Azure's hips gave a short push backwards and he felt the heavy swollen orbs slapped upwards right against the inner thighs of his partner. He widened his eyes a bit as he felt the wolf's haunches wedged right back down between his hind legs. The blue wolf let out a guttural cry of pleasure and the walls clamped down tightly around him before the unicorn drew his hips backwards only to thrust them in past those heated clutching walls again. He flicked his ears back and muffled a low groan of pleasure as he started to thrust in short hard movements deep within his partner. The squeezing inner muscles seemed to pull him back in each time he drove himself into the passage and through it all the wolf let out muted cries and bucked his hips backwards for more.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Azure flattened his ears down against his head and muffled a low throaty groan of pleasure. His eyes were shut as he felt his walls being strained open wide. The walls were forced open so wide it was almost too much, but the smooth throbbing shaft sent tremors running along the line of his spine. The tip plunged in deeper and deeper with each thrust as he felt the heat of the precum drooling inside of him. It seemed that each time the stallion thrust forward he stroked over places that sent tremors of pleasure through the wolf. He muffled his whimpers of pleasure and pushed backwards while his cock pulsed against his belly and sent splatters of watery precum against his chest fur. He moved his paws forward and rested them just behind the powerful forelegs to help brace him for the thrusts.

Orion dragged his hips back and Azure nearly embarrassed himself by feeling himself being set off entirely. He felt his knot swelling outwards, but he was able to keep himself under control as the stallion drove forward again. This time he pushed his hips backwards until he felt the hind legs wrapping around his haunches and felt the heavy orbs bumping against his own before the stallion drew back again. The tip rubbed and stroked through him, but the medial ring seemed to be the part that found the most pleasurable parts of his body. He lolled his tongue out and let out a whimpering moan as the hips started to thrust in short hard movements. The strands of precum were flung from the tip deep inside of him and then forced outwards around his strained open pucker.

His cock pulsed a bit harder and rubbed against his belly as he worked his body in time with the unicorn above him. It was almost painfully pleasurable as each thrust forward ended in the powerful equine orbs plunging up against him. Orion's moans were muffled by the grip on the scruff of his neck, but the blue wolf luxuriated in that grip. The physical touch that let him know that the stallion was obviously enjoying himself nearly as much. He whimpered and squirmed when the stallion gave sharper harder thrusts that drove the tip in over and over. The hot wet noises as the cock plunged almost painfully deep and then drew out with the medial ring tugging free and then pushing its way in again. The wolf whimpered and flipped his ears back with a short cry as the medial ring pushed in again and stroked right over the most sensitive spot inside of him.

His base started to swell out and his girth jutted out beneath him as he let out a short ragged howl of pleasure as his balls drew out. The first splatter of seed hit against his front legs and the unicorn as the stallion gave several short hard bucks and Azure felt the tip starting to flare open inside of him. It strained him open deep within his passage before the unicorn dropped his hips and came to a shuddering halt. The hot breath puffed against the back of his neck as a thick rope of pearly cum erupted inside of him. It splattered out deep within his passage and flooded him as he remained standing and trembling beneath the powerful stallion. Every part of his body trembling with pleasure that made his heart pound and his breath catch in his throat. It was like nothing he had ever experienced. Like nothing he had ever dreamed of or dared hope.

Sunrise

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The sun rose in glorious fiery colors of brilliant vermillion, crimson, amethyst and fiery orange. It spread out over the sky and reached to each of the clouds to make it seem as if a blanket of fire spread over the azure sky. The birds began their morning songs as streamers of sunlight made their way past the close packed trees and the air began to warm. The world awoke slowly, but another day had dawned and the deer began to lead their fawns to the creek and the falcon preened his feathers for his days hunting. Beneath the sun two creatures lay hidden in a quiet hollow made of fallen pine needles and huddled in the shade. The blue wolf stirred and blinked blearily out at the golden bands of sunlight that danced over the stream some distance away.

Azure blinked his eyes slowly and yawned so that his long tongue lolled out. His body ached, but wonderfully, beautifully, fantastically so. It was an evening of strangeness. The creature he had watched for so long played the dominant stallion and the curious shy unicorn when their roles reversed. They had exchanged intimate caresses and they had spent themselves until they had just enough strength to wash in the creek and drag themselves beneath the pine trees to sleep. Even now he could feel the sleep that was nipping at his mind and he tilted his head just enough to look at the slumbering unicorn behind him. He could feel the long legs wrapped around him in a protective circle. He stared at the graceful head that was pillowed against the pine needles and warmth rushed through him.

He'll leave today. _ The warmth was chased away with a stab of cold fear and despair. _It was only to thank me. He's going to go on his way now...

_ _

The thoughts blossomed with sickening despair that he had finally gotten all that he wanted and it was about to leave him. He drank in the unicorns form hungrily and tried to stir his sluggish mind to wakefulness so he could lie against Orion until the unicorn awoke. He could at least try to savor what he had for now until the creature stirred and announced it was time for him to be on his way. He could at least try and savor it. He had nearly worked himself into a frenzy when one of the unicorn's eyes opened and the equine head lifted with a yawn. Orion had barely lifted his head before the large form curled around him and he felt the length of the leonine tail drape over his legs tenderly and the long neck curled around to rest against his own.

"Go to sleep, Azure. You can't possibly be rested." Orion murmured and Azure tensed up slightly before the sleep laden voice continued. "Going to need rest to keep up with me, wolf. I'm not living in a cave, so we'll have to find something better for our home."

The wolf felt his eyes sting with a bit of tears as the unicorn's sides rose and fell with a sigh before Orion slipped off the sleep. Azure dropped his head down to rest on the back of the thickly maned neck and closed his own eyes. Let Orion worry about where they would live together. As long as they were together Azure had found his home.

"Our home." He murmured and sighed out as he let the dreams claim him again. Dreams of cloven hooves and spiraled horns, moonlight manes and apple scented fur. Dreams that had become a reality.
