Captains log: Star date 230419-6

It has been one hell of a maiden mission so far, Star Com One has been involved in its first battle and rescue mission, even though it is still very much a ship under construction. I'm happy to report that both ship and crew performed exceptionally well. On a personal note two things have happened to me that have made me feel stronger about myself, first is my show of balls in front of Admiral Jackson, I expected to have my command taken from me after that, but I'm still here. "Helm, I think that we have had enough fun for now so please change our heading back to Star Command Base and set our speed to one half impulse power, I'm sure that Admiral Jackson would like to get back to his desk"

The helmsman acknowledges my order.

"Aye sir, heading changed to Star Com Base, speed set at one half impulse power"

I sit in my captains' chair and stare blankly at the forward view screen, I know that I should be watching out for any sign of the Maja's, but I have so very much on my mind, chief among which is Aiden, I think that it is safe to say that my chances of ever seeing my folks again are now pretty much nil, if they didn't like the fact that I was gay then there is no way in hell that they are going to accept my lover. I'm brought out of my thoughts by my coms officer.

"Sir, Star Com Base has cleared us for docking at station 32"

I gently nod my head.

"Okay, Commander Travis once we arrive at Star Command Base will you please pilot us into the docking area?"

The Horses head spins as he looks at me.

"But Captain, I'm not a pilot, I mean sure I have piloted the odd run about, but a star ship is something completely different"

"Well Commander, if you want to be a Captain one day you will need to be able to pilot a star ship, and so, while you have the helmsman at your disposal I want you to put us into dock, only using the helmsman if you really need to, while you do that I'm going to be in my quarters, let Commander Coalson and I know once we have docked please"

As I head towards the turbo lift I hear Commander Travis let out a shaky sigh, I let out a giggle as the turbo lift takes me to deck 12 where my quarters and my Doberman are situated. I put my hand paw against the entry scanner and the door slides open, I enter my quarters and I see my Dobie sitting at the computer terminal.

"So Aiden, you have decided to take your training further I see?"

The Doberman turns to face me and yawns a little.

"Well while I am on board I may as well make myself useful, in truth I had never even given academy life any thought, I was just happy to roll along with my simple life as a farmer and then we had our encounter with the Maja's and my simple farming life was taken away from me. True enough my father had been to the academy where he gained his captains status, I guess now you could say that I'm taking the commanders course to pay the Maja's back for killing my lover and my father"

"Aiden, revenge is no reason to go through the commanders exam, I will support your application but I want you to be doing it because you want to better yourself, and not through some dark minded thoughts of pay back, if you do it because you want to then you will make one hell of a commander and maybe one day who knows maybe even a captain or even an admiral, but if you do it for revenge then once you have completed your training and become a commander, you will use it to exact your revenge and then you will not advance your training any further, in short you will have wasted your training"

Aiden sighs a little and then relaxes into my rubbing paw.

"I know Toby and I will admit that when I first considered going for the commander training that the thought of pay back was heavy on my mind, but now I want to do it to make my father proud of me, that way I will have the best kind of revenge possible, because I will have proved my worth to everyone including you and my father"

I cannot deny the fact that Aiden's reasons for going through the training filled me with joy and so as soon as we arrive back at Star Command Base I will be putting his name forward to go into on the job training.

"Okay Aiden, I believe you, but know this, if I begin to see any dark thoughts filling your mind I will pull the plug on your training, is that clear?"

The Doberman gently nods his head in agreement, I then take Aiden's hand paw and lead him towards the doorway.

"Toby, what are you doing, I need to study"

I giggle a little as I reply.

"You have been working on that computer terminal for hours, it's time that you took a break and I know just where to take you where we won't be disturbed"

We exit my quarters and head towards the nearest holo suite, as we arrive I walk up to the control panel and place my paw on it, the panel scans my paw and the computer voice confirms my identity, I then make my selection of holo program.

"Computer, I would like a thickly wooded forest with warm sunshine that filters through the tree canopy, a temperature of 20 degrees centigrade, and a rippling stream and a twentieth century log cabin. I would also like it to be private so only accept emergency calls"

The computer acknowledges my selection and opens the doors to the holo suite, again I take hold of Aiden's paw and lead him inside, once we are inside the doors close and vanish. Aiden looks around at his surroundings his muzzle slightly agape in awe.

"Okay Tobias Padfoot, what are you planning?"

I giggle a little at hearing Aiden use my full name, oh sure normally it is a source of embarrassment but I know that Aiden is using it in a playful way.

"Well Aiden, I think it is high time that we started making a few memories and maybe even a few messes, once we get to the log cabin I thought that we could...get to know each other a little better, if you know what I mean"

It seems that Aiden did know what I meant as I look down towards his crotch and see a massive Doberman tent showing through his pants. Still with our paws linked we walk through the densely populated forest, it resembles an earth forest from the twentieth century, a time before greedy logging companies stripped every last tree from sight. "Yes, this is what forests looked like when I was just a pup, but then the demand for wooden furniture and paper became too much and the forests started rapidly disappearing from view, and because the logging companies weren't replacing the trees that they were cutting down, forests now have all but vanished from the face of the earth, now all the remains of a forest such as this is in the banks of computer memory of this ship"

Aiden squeezes my paw a little tighter as he realises that the sight of the forest is getting me a little upset.

"Well on Doberman Prime, we have no forests, just miles and miles of steel and concrete, I would give my life to experience a real forest just once"

As we continue to walk and talk the log cabin begins to come into view, and I must say, I know that none of this is real, but the computer sure has done a fantastic job of re-creating a perfect forest get away.

We stand in front of the cabin and Aiden stares at it with awe, his wagging tail tells me that he likes what he is seeing. We make our way towards the door and I slowly open it to reveal a sparse interior, there is just a large wooden table with two chairs, and open fireplace in the middle of the room with a chimney above it, to the right we can see what would be the kitchen area with wooden worktops and a sink, to the left is what would be classed as the sleeping area, a simple double bed with a wooden night stand next to it. Windows all around the cabin let in the exquisite daylight; it truly is a romantic setting with no communications ports or computers to spoil the moment. A sudden gasp from Aiden brings me back to my senses.

"It...It is beautiful Toby; I wish we could have a place like this"
