"What's the matter with you today, bone girl?" Zoruma asked me in her growling voice, jumping from shadow to shadow just ahead of me to keep out of sight. "Didn't get enough sleep?"

I followed the sight of her hair jewel--secretly thankful that all Zoroark have them--and stuck to the shadows as well. "Hardly. You've always been faster than me." It was true. In my typical humanoid Cubone form, I couldn't even dream of keeping up with a non-morph Zoroark, much less Zoruma.

She stopped in a doorway and looked around before diving into large 'shadow hole' that led to her home base. I joined her as soon as I could, only to be greeted with her forepaws grabbing onto my shoulders and pinning me to a wall. "Terra, you're a damned ShadowRunner. Best damn saboteur in your class. You're normally better than that."

I was pretty sure she could see the sweat running down my face through the eye sockets of my bone mask, so it was useless to argue. "Fine... I'm out of practice. My sister Vega keeps needing help for her sex clubs, so I keep volunteering. Haven't had time to train."

Zoruma gave me a look of utter shock, though regained her composure a moment later. "Sex clubs? Oh, right, the whole pleasurevore thing you told me about." She let go of me, then wandered to a pile of blankets that she obviously called her bed. "Well, since you don't get to train, why don't you just become something faster with that Omnivice thing you have?"

"Because I don't have any thing faster, much less faster than you." I admitted, removing my mask to reveal my draconian brown-furred face to her. "Hell, I can't become a Zoroark for some reason, even as much as we partner up."

This seemed to give her an idea, as I could see her ears perk up instantly as she game me a rather hyena-like laugh. "Wait, are you saying you want to become a Zoroark, but that Omnivice thing isn't letting you? That's rich." She paused, giving me a rather odd, almost mischievous look. "Well, I can help with that... for a price."

I couldn't help but stare at her for a moment, feeling rather worried as I chose my words carefully. "What kind of price?"

Zoruma smiled, her red lips making it look more evil than she probably intended. "One of those Omnivice things, and you have stay with me for a few weeks of hardcore training. I'll make you one hell of a ShadowRunner."

"Oh, good. I though you were about to say 'your soul' or something." I replied, giving a sigh of relief. "If that's all, sure."

"Alright. Go home and gather what you need. Meet me out at the south ruins before midnight." She told me before leaping to her feet and dashing out the entryway of her den. I gave a soft shudder, as she seemed a little too happy to provide whatever the service was.

After going back home to Breakwater Hideaway and getting some supplies--and an Omnivice bracelet--I made my way to the South Ruins near Lapis Cave. The 'dungeon' area was an underground ruin originally made for arcane magic rituals a few thousand years ago. In modern times, it was just a brown rock slab with a few crumbling pillars scattered around. All except for the center, which still had most of it's ornate carvings intact. There was also a massive fire pit underneath it, which I had never noticed before.

As I approached the center, I could see Zoruma holding a small stone box in one paw as the other ran through the thick hair-like fur on her head. "You're early." She said, giving a small smirk. "Eager to become one with the shadows or something?"

"More like I needed to get the hell out of Breakwater before Altair asked me why I suddenly needed an Omnivice bracelet." I replied, giving a soft sigh before dropping to my knees to rest. "I'm exhausted. Had to use the gate near Mount Thunder, and you know how that hike is."

"Yeah, yeah. You can take a break when it's over, Terra. You'll be sleeping with my clan tonight." I wasn't looking at Zo, but I could sense her approach me with those soundless footsteps she was known for. Before I could rise up and ask what she meant, she forcefully shoved an odd-smelling berry into my open mouth. "Eat, then brace yourself."

I chewed the bitter berry and quickly swallowed it. It had the taste of very strong coffee, and the kind I'd rather not drink. Instantly, my body felt like it was on fire. I tried not to make a sound as my short brown Cubone fur become thicker and longer, turning a black that seemed to nullify light itself. My breasts and chest became covered by collar of thick and shaggy gray fur with a much different consistency, looking almost like a skimpy top. Before I could even start to enjoy the warmth that had begun to soothe the pain in my upper body, I hit the ground as the wind was knocked out of me. My stomach and abdomen shrank to an incredible size that most human women would kill for, but it left me gasping for air.

The fire intensified in my hands as my center digit split into two, giving me four thick fingers that were now tipped in wicked crimson claws. It spread soon after, the black fur on my arms becoming thick on my forearms while the upper arms became thin. Bone thin. My legs were next, which made me finally scream out in pain as my feet cracked and grew into digitigrade paws, thick and wide with three crimson claws sticking out of the mass of fur around my toes. My lower leg was as bone-thin as my upper arms, but my thick thighs cramped up as the muscles rearranged themselves to better suit their new state, becoming even thicker and stronger than before. Those cramps continued into my groin as my former cloaca slit was replaced with a furry sheath. I was looking at it as I tried to raise myself off of the floor, but I couldn't get a good look before it sank into the void of a new spike-rimmed fur pattern that most Zoroark had.

The fire soon stopped, only to be replaced by an ice cold creeping over my face. The bone mask that I had been wearing pushed off of my snout as the broad dragon-like muzzle shrank and shifted, becoming almost angular with a rounded nose, the slits of my former snout staying the same. My ears moved from the top of my head, turning sideways as they stretched and became pointed. If I had to guess, I probably looked like a cross between an earth Fennec and a Sergal. This didn't last long, though, as my typically stringy mane became extremely warm as it grew along my back and down to the bottoms of my feet. Towards the end of it, I could feel the weight of a Zoroark crystal jewel clasp around part of my new mane, causing the tip to spread out like a lava plume.

As the changes were winding down, I dropped to the ground again. The ordeal left me feeling like hell itself had just passed through my body, and I'd been to what most would call 'hell'. "G... gods damn Zo. W-what was th-th-that?" I asked, though my voice was weak and raspy.

"A Shadow Seed." She replied, stepping to me and picking my limp body off of the ground. I knew she wasn't all that strong, so I must have lost a lot of weight all at once. "You're now cursed to be a Zoroark, though if you're really a deity like you say you are, the curse part isn't gonna affect you. You could probably transform back if you wanted."

I blinked a few times, trying to pull up my Omnivice's neural heads-up display. It was there, but extremely distorted. I waited to catch my breath as she carried me out of the ruins and into the surrounding forest. "My Omnivice isn't working, Zo. I'll be trapped like this for a while. Not that I'm complaining. I..." I paused as we passed some water, giving me my first look at the new face I had obtained. My lip markings were a beautiful dark blue, and my mane was midnight black with ocean blue tips. "I asked for this."

"You asked to become a Zoroark, not to be cursed." She said with a growl, probably angry with herself. "Still, I'll make you one hell of a Zoroark."

As I looked up at the horizon towards her clan's village, giving a soft smile. "Curses be damned. This is gonna be fun."

Once I recovered later that night, Zo and her clan took me on a run through the wilds all the way to Howling Forest. I felt so alive, just running through the wilderness both on two legs and all fours. We dove through the shadows like a pack of demons, and when we reached our destination, it was like we'd just found paradise for the night. We all curled up as a group, both Zoroark and young Zorua, and slept in the nearby caves. Before falling asleep, I looked around at my new kin and thought, "Yeah, this is gonna be one hell of a fun time."
