Synopsis:
A day in the life of the two mated males with a few surprises thrown in for extra spice.
Author's Note:
Bonjour once again. Yes, I've been silent forever...sort of a watcher of the fandom more than anything else. I have no excuse for not writing as I currently have no demands upon my time, but most of my family members seem to think I'm suffering from some sort of depression. I have no motivation to do anything productive with my life. I exist...that's it. Whether it's depression or not, this attitude that I can't seem to break is wreaking hell on my life. I'm unemployed, I'm not attending my University, and I'm sponging off of other people. I had dreams and aspirations once, I really did. I've thrown them under the bus. I never wanted to, I never meant to, but I did, one day at a time. Well, I'm whining and that's not what you guys are here for, sorry.
Another chapter in Bond Unbroken. There will be at least one more after this one...sort of a cliff-hanger ending and whatnot. I won't promise the next one will be up soon, because I don't know when the next one will be up. I'm sorry to devoted readers, I've become a bad writer on top of everything else. I hope you still enjoy this effort. I sincerely tried to live up to my own expectations...I'm still not certain that I did, but I guess I'll leave that decision up to you guys. I appreciate all comments, except those that are criticism of the non-constructive variety...I hate trolls. You may also email me at [email protected] though I barely check my email accounts anymore. There are so many depressing things in them that I'm almost afraid to look. If you do email me, I will eventually get back to you, it just may take awhile. Or I might decide to check it because of the story, idk. I try to respond to every comment...if you take the time, I do too. I apologize once again for whining and being a bad writer. I hope you all enjoy the story at the very least.

Bond Unbroken: Part IV
Ahrilon smiled as he finished wrapping the older wolf's ankle, he'd turned it while dismounting from one of the wagons. He stood and helped the wolf out of the raised chair and onto his hindpaws. "It's nothing too bad, just a sprain. Try to walk lightly for a few days and use this for a while." Ahrilon went and grabbed a walking-stick that was leaning against the wall, giving it to the older wolf to help support his weight. "Come back to us in three days so that we can make sure it's healing properly. If you notice a lot of swelling, come see us right away."
The older wolf smiled and nodded his head. "Thanks Ahrilon." He used the stick to support his weight as he hobbled out the door.
Sashi clapped her paws together, drawing the young wolf's attention. "Wonderful Ari, I couldn't have done it better myself." The female beamed. "You're the best apprentice a healer could ask for." She glanced at the sun, noting the time. "Will you be eating here?"
Ahrilon glanced back at Sashi, a little smile on his muzzle. "No...Delyc and I are going to eat together."
Sashi rolled her eyes in mock exasperation. "Three months you two have been mated and you're still going at it like it's your bond-night...every chance you get. Well, go on then."
Ahrilon blushed a bit under his fur but not nearly so much as he might've before. This tribe was so open about their personal relationships, and after that bond-night, the young wolf didn't think he'd ever be as reserved as he once was. "Thanks Sashi...I'll be back in a bit."
Ahrilon set off at an eager trot toward the hut that he and his mate now shared. It was like the others in the village, made of wood and stone instead of earth and hide. In all honesty, it was much nicer than his family's own hut had been back home. The entire village had helped in some way by either cutting timber or helping to put it together. Even so far as making or donating utensils, pots, pans, tools and any number of other sundry items to the young mates. Ahrilon and Delyc had everything they needed to survive and then some.
Ahrilon's decision to apprentice to Sashi had been an easy one really. Sashi and her mate Varra had been the ones to sponsor them in admission to the pack and Ahrilon felt he already knew Sashi well, they got along famously. And then there was the little fact that Sashi had saved Delyc's life, and probably his own as well. He would forever be indebted to her for allowing him a life with his mate. Delyc, already being an expert hunter and tracker, had joined the hunting parties to supply meat to the pack. He had also begun to apprentice with a farmer so that he would be able to tend crops and livestock like the rest of the hunters. Really, hunters were providers in this village, they did hunt, but that wasn't all. They supplied food for the pack in many ways.
As Ahrilon neared their little hut near the edge of the sprawling village, he smiled to himself. Who'd have thought their adventure would turn out so well? He thought back to his parents and to Elder Hamman as he often did, wondering how they were doing and wishing them well. He knew his mother and father would bear some of the weight of his disappearance, and the rest of the pack would never forgive them. A part of him was sad, he missed his family deeply. But then his mind returned to his mate and he was filled with such a warmth and pleasantness that spread all over his body that the sadness was overwhelmed. Delyc was worth everything and then some, and Ahrilon had not once regretted his decision to follow his mate into exile for their love.
One thing about working with Sashi, Ahrilon got to walk along the outskirts of the village on a rise that overlooked their sprawling habitat. He took in a deep breath of the fresh air before descending down the rise toward their happy little home. Since Ahrilon was going to become a healer as well, their hut had been built to the same specifications as Sashi's, which meant they had a little more room than most huts in order to house the ill and wounded once Sashi retired from her role as Ren'Aih.
The village had already cleared a small area around their new hut for farming but it still lay dormant as autumn was in full swing. Soon the snows would come, so it was no time to plant crops according to the other providers. Another structure was going up on their plot of land to house feral horses. Delyc had demonstrated a talent for dealing with them; he would be one of only two wolves that provided horses for the pack after the next foaling season.
Before Ahrilon could reach the door, Delyc opened it, grinning at his mate. Ahrilon sprinted the rest of the way down and Delyc caught him in a big bear-hug, lifting his hindpaws off the ground and whirling him in a circle before setting him back down. They met muzzles in a deep kiss, hugging tight. That feeling that Ahrilon felt when he thought about Delyc came back again a hundred-fold as they shared each other on a remarkably deep level.
They broke the kiss and Delyc nuzzled his muzzle alongside Ahrilon's. "You still love me Ari?"
"Always Del, what about you?" Ahrilon grinned, licking at his mate's ear.
"Forever, Ari." Del licked Ari's ear in turn.
They kissed again briefly before holding paws and going inside, shutting the door behind themselves. "How is Sashi today?" Delyc moved toward their small dining table.
"She's good. I got to tend Eriv today...he turned his ankle when he jumped off a wagon and managed to catch a rock with his paw. She said she couldn't have done it any better than I did." He beamed, yanking on Delyc's paw to turn the larger wolf to face him, grasping his other paw as well. "You know, she thinks every time I leave to join you for High that we're rutting." Ahrilon smirked.
Delyc chuckled and his chest rumbled a bit. "Hmm...does she think that's all we ever do?"
"I guess she thinks we don't need to eat." Ahrilon cocked his head sideways, still grinning. He scented the meat stew Delyc had been boiling in preparation for High. Since becoming a provider, the others had shown him a bit of how to cook as well and Ahrilon hadn't met a meal Delyc made that he hadn't enjoyed.
Delyc's chest rumbled again, only a bit deeper and longer this time. "She's not far off the mark...we wouldn't want to disappoint her expectations I suppose."
Ahrilon grinned wide, showing his sharp, carnivorous teeth. "I guess that wouldn't be very nice of us. But what about that stew? I'm hungry..."
"You can take some with you..." Delyc smirked back and spun them both around so that Ahrilon's rump pressed up against the dining table. Ahrilon let out a surprised, quick breath, but quickly grabbed Delyc's wrists, biting his own lower lip and breathing hot and heavy. Oh Delyc was rutty...Ahrilon's sheath plumped at the thought. He knew his tail-hole would soon be spread wide around his mate's lovely lupine cock and his own body responded quickly, pre beginning to ooze into his undergarment.
"That will only confirm Sashi's suspicions you know." Ahrilon smirked at his mate, gripping Delyc's wrists even tighter.
"It's the least we can do." Delyc leaned forward and locked muzzles with Ahrilon, lifting the smaller wolf's rump to rest on the dining table. He moved both paws up Ahrilon's back, running them back down to his waist to undo the smaller lupine's belt. He snaked both paws into Ahrilon's tunic as the belt fell carelessly on the table.
Ahrilon moaned and growled lightly, running his paws up and down the not insubstantial forearms of his larger mate, returning the kiss in kind, his upper tunic falling open carelessly to reveal his toned, fur-covered chest.
Delyc murred as his claws sifted through Ahrilon's light-gray fur, paws writhing underneath the fabric of Ahrilon's tunic, caressing his back gently as Delyc's tongue danced around his mate's, twining and untwining in a desire that was quickly becoming desperate.
Ahrilon responded with his own deft and nimble paws, quickly unlacing the ties on Delyc's undershirt. Ahrilon himself wore no undershirt, most of the villagers didn't, but hunters and providers wore them to keep their fur from getting caught and pulled in the over-clothing they wore while working. Around the house, Delyc wore little else but underclothing.
The ties came open quickly as musk began to overwhelm the strong, spicy scent of the stew. Ahrilon used his arms to shed his tunic, exposing his body fully to his mate. Delyc broke the kiss and looked up and down the languid form of his mate leaning on the table, growling with almost feral lust. He stepped back just a bit and allowed his lower undergarment to fall and pool around his hindpaws, his crimson lupine cock standing at full attention and dribbling.
Ahrilon actually salivated at the sight of his mate's thick, wet slab of wolf meat. This wasn't going to be a session of love-making...there was no time for that. No, this was going to be a down and dirty lust-filled rut. Something about that made Ahrilon's dick slide completely from its sheath. He wanted nothing more than to feel his mate spreading him open. He didn't have to wait long.
With another lust-filled growl, Delyc slid Ahrilon's tail over the edge of the table. He bit down on Ahrilon's shoulder and thrust up and forward, splitting his mate with the entire length of his dripping lupine member in one swift, unyielding push.
Ahrilon yelped and then gasped and groaned loudly in unmerciful pleasure as his entire body suddenly felt on fire, all the sensations concentrating on his groin. He wrapped both arms around Delyc's shoulders and arched his back almost convulsively, his dick jumping and squirting a stream of pre across his belly. "Yesssss....ohh Del....mmnn..." He bit his lower lip and gazed into Del's eyes...those intense, deep brown eyes. He felt another wave of pleasure rip through his body, causing him to gasp again, merely from the sensation of being so filled by his mate...of feeling his mate's heartbeat throb deep within him.
Delyc shivered in nerve-dazzling euphoria as his shaft found its home inside his mate. Electricity shot through every part of him as he groaned. He released Ahrilon's shoulder and began to fuck his mate hot and heavy. No warm up...no foreplay, just all-out tail-reaming, nut-busting rut. His powerful ass flexed again and again, shoving his thick spike of lupine flesh deep inside his mate, only to pull it out and shove it back again, their bodies thudding together audibly.
Ahrilon's deep groan turned to a higher-pitched moan before he began punctuating each powerful thrust with a whimpering whine, his muzzle screwed tight in painful bliss. He knotted his paws in the fur of Delyc's ass, urging him harder, deeper...wanting his mate's sperm wriggling around inside of him.
Delyc moved a paw to grasp Ahrilon's throbbing, rock-hard wolf cock. His rough paw-pads caused Ahrilon to shiver and shake and whine, his body dancing to the tune played upon it by Delyc's appendages.
"Oh rut me Delyc...oh...oh fuck...breed me...oh yessss." Ahrilon was mumbling and whining almost incomprehensibly as his body writhed and spasmed against his mate, the claws of both paws digging into the muscle of Delyc's taut ass, still urging him harder...faster.
Delyc increased his pace, panting, gazing deeply into his mate's eyes. "Ari...Ari I'm gonna...oh..fuck...FUmmf" Delyc's words were cut off by Ahrilon's savage kiss as Delyc thrust up and forward with all of his strength, bracing against the table as his knot shoved its way into his mate's ass. His body exploded with fiery pleasure, waves running through him as he started squirting hot, slimy ropes of puppy-batter deep inside Ahrilon's ass, breeding him deep, his lupine sperm trying vainly to find something to inseminate
The sudden pressure on Ahrilon's prostate from his mate's knot coupled with the feeling of Delyc's lupine cock pulsing with each shot of wolf essence drove Ahrilon over the edge and strong jets of his own aromatic seed started pegging the rutting males' chins from below as they kissed savagely.
Ahrilon moaned into the kiss as he felt Delyc empty his large, contracting balls into him, knowing he was now packing a charged load of his mate's cum, his insides whitewashed and marked thoroughly with wolf spunk. The pungent aroma of his own load throbbing and pulsing between the rutting males filled the room quickly.
Delyc moaned once more, the spurts of burning-hot liquid wolf becoming little more than dribbles, before his cock finally lay quiescent inside his mate. He broke the kiss slowly and gazed into his mate's glazed eyes, chuckling at the silly little vacant smile on Ahrilon's muzzle. "You okay, love?" He continued to pant, still staring into his mate's eyes.
"Oh pup...I'm more than okay." His own orgasm had reached its dribbling end as well, and he lay back on the table, arching his back as his mate's knotted cock still throbbed softly within him, the slimy aftermath of his own puppy-batter matting his stomach fur as well as that of his mate. He grinned a bit and moved both paws to the table's surface, digging them into the wood before bearing down and squeezing Delyc's swollen knot hard with his ass.
"Ari...I don't...oh Ari...oh...don't...I..." Delyc stammered as he put both of his own paws on the table, digging claws in as the rhythmic pressure Ahrilon put on his knot made him start to tug and thrust again.
Ahrilon grinned wider and gripped extra hard with his inner muscles, gasping at the pressure on his prostate.
"Ari...no...ah..ah...AH...FUCK!" Delyc yelled out as a second orgasm ripped through his body, claws dragging scratch marks through the table's wood veneer, his aching balls unloading a second wad of puppy-batter into his mate's well-bred ass. Wave after wave of painful euphoria ripped through Delyc's body as his tired pubic muscles clenched over and over in the throes of their second orgasm within minutes, each throb delivering another dribble of lupine spunk into Ahrilon's wolf-sperm-filled ass.
The pressure on Ahrilon's prostate combined with the feeling of his mate's bulging cock pulsing with another orgasm drove the smaller wolf into a second orgasm of his own, a few more weak spurts of lupine seed forcing their way free of his pulsing puppy-maker to dribble and drip onto his stomach to mix in with what was already there. His body writhed against the wood table, back arching with his orgasm until he finally collapsed back again, exhausted.
Delyc shuddered at the end of his second orgasm and looked like he might collapse as well, but that luxury was denied to him. His tongue lolled out the side of his mouth, his eyes glazed this time. "I asked you...asked you not to do that." He managed between pants.
"I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't known you'd love it." Ahrilon mustered the energy to smirk, though it came out as more of a derpy, lazy smile.
Delyc leaned down and lapped at his mate's muzzle, sharing his breath. "I'm just too lucky."
"That makes two of us." Ahrilon grinned a tad more successfully this time and turned the gentle lapping by his mate into a soft, loving kiss.
Ahrilon had only discovered that he could use his tail-hole to grip, squeeze, and milk a second orgasm out of his mate about a week earlier...but what a discovery it had been. Both had been blown away by each of them experiencing a second orgasm within minutes of the first, and Ahrilon had endeavored to achieve the same result as many times as he dared again. The back of Delyc's knot had always been ultra-sensitive...Ahrilon's was too, but apparently not to the extreme degree that Delyc's was. Ahrilon had learned that he could turn his big, bad mate into a quivering, moaning lump of fur just by squeezing the back of his knot. He'd not thought of trying it after they'd already cum...not until earlier that week anyway.
Delyc sighed softly as his knot began to shrink. A side-effect, perhaps, of the multiple orgasms was that Delyc's ties didn't last as long. But that was worth it for the second blast of pleasure. Delyc smiled down at his somewhat-smaller mate. Not tiny, but still smaller than him by a decent margin, yet he could reduce Delyc to a babbling delirium of pleasure just by squeezing the back of his knot...a fatal weakness in the bedroom.
Ahrilon grunted slightly as Delyc's shrinking knot popped out of his tail-hole. He tried to squeeze it shut immediately, but Delyc moved his muzzle in between Ahrilon's fuzzy cheeks and thrust his tongue deep inside his mate.
Ahrilon gasped as his mate ate some of his own lupine sperm out of him, but the warm massage of Delyc's tongue helped Ahrilon to close his tail-hole up. He grinned as he sat up, pulling Delyc's muzzle into a deep kiss to share a taste of his mate's puppy-batter. Delyc returned the gesture emphatically before breaking the kiss and licking his lips.
"I've had my meal now, but you still haven't eaten anything." Delyc smirked.
"I'll take some of that stew with me in one of the big cups." Ahrilon quipped lightly.
The mates shared another quick kiss before Delyc moved to take one of the aforementioned cups from the cupboard. Ahrilon stood up, some of Delyc's warm, slimy load running down the back of his leg. He quickly donned his undergarment and tunic and retied the belt.
Delyc, still naked from the waist down, the tip of his lupine cock still showing from the end of his sheath, strode around the table and handed his mate the large cup of stew along with a spoon. "Don't forget to bring these back." He grinned. "We'll need them again." He gestured to the utensils.
"Of course, lover." Ahrilon leaned forward and gave the larger wolf another quick kiss before opening the door. "I'll see you tonight, Del. I love you."
Delyc grinned even wider and nodded. "I love you too, puppy."
Ahrilon stuck his tongue out and turned toward Sashi's hut again. They were the same age of course, but they'd started making liberal use of 'pet' names since they'd mated. It seemed like the thing to do...a way of expressing intimacy.
He ate most of his stew on the way, it was quite good...spicy with a touch of salt...but when he arrived back at Sashi's hut, he was still finishing off the last of it. Varra was outside hanging laundered items on a line to dry, and rolled her eyes as Ahrilon made his way inside.
Sashi looked up from her table as he entered and wrinkled her nose. He stank of sweat and sex, he knew, but there was no help for it.
"Really, Ahrilon? I didn't know males could slough off the same pheromones as a bitch in heat." She took another sniff as the fullness of his scent reached her, and wrinkled her nose even further. "Not a bitch in heat...a bitch that's been bred. Hard."
Ahrilon only grinned and shrugged, drinking the last of the stew broth from the cup to set the utensils on the countertop. "No hiding the truth." He smirked and moved toward the 'patient' room of the hut.
"I suppose not, but there's a difference between openness and vulgarity, Ahrilon. Must you really walk around with Delyc-sauce running down your leg?"
Ahrilon froze for a moment. He'd forgotten that Delyc's load had started to ooze down his leg. He did the first thing he thought of and moved a finger down to strip the long drip of gooey wolf cum from his leg-fur. He brought it quickly to his muzzle, a little wash of pleasure sweeping through his body as he tasted his mate's essence and swallowed.
Sashi grunted and shook her head, but Ahrilon noticed that one of her paws had traveled underneath the table to nestle between her own legs. He smiled a bit and moved into the next room.
As Ahrilon moved into the patient room, the back door opened and a big white wolf walked in. He took a look around the room, and when his eyes landed on Ahrilon, he grimaced.
"Can I help you?" Ahrilon didn't recognize the wolf...he'd never even seen him around the village.
"No." He wrinkled his nose as he scented Ahrilon. "Really, boy? In the Ren'Aih's hut? Do you have no shame? I ought to beat a lesson into you right now."
Ahrilon frowned and was suddenly a tad scared as the older wolf, he looked to be just a little past his middle years...not quite as old as the elders, but close...started advancing on him. "Um...Sashi? Sashi there's someone here...!" He backed up toward the door, the white wolf's deep blue eyes ablaze with cold fire.
Ahrilon heard Sashi get up quickly and move into the patient room. She stepped in between the menacing stranger and Ahrilon, causing the stranger to come up short. "I'd thank you not to harm my apprentice, Rethin."
Rethin's muzzle twisted in a mixture of anger and derision. "I can smell his mate's rut on him...IN him in fact. How could you let them fuck here, Sashi? This place is supposed to be clean."
Sashi stood tall and bristled at the muscular male. "You assume far too much. I keep a clean and respectable dwelling, Rethin...and I won't have you insulting it or me. Nothing happened here. Ahrilon just came back from lunch, not that it's any of your concern."
The male still twisted his muzzle in distaste, but he backed down. "Someone taking over such an important position should spend less time rutting and more time learning."
Sashi actually bared her fangs. "Ahrilon is the best apprentice I could ask for." She moved to a small shelf and took a bottle from it, handing it to the muscular, older male. "Mix one part medicine with two parts water. Drink it every evening before bed, and if you have pain when you get up you may use it then, but ONLY if you need it."
The male had already turned around and walked toward the door. Sashi barely finished speaking before the door slammed shut behind him. Sashi took a deep breath and sighed.
"Who...was that?" Ahrilon asked, his fear retreating now that the other male was gone. "I've never seen him."
"That..." Sashi sighed again. "...was Rethin. A particularly foul-tempered customer. The reason you've never seen him is that he never associates with, well...anyone. The only reason he stops by here is because I won't just leave his medicine on the supply wagon." She turned to regard Ahrilon. "A lesson...I never disperse medicine to anyone...ANYONE, mind...without first giving them their instructions, even if they've heard them a hundred times before. Medicine can do as much damage as good if used improperly."
Ahrilon nodded in response. "But I'd think I'd have at least seen him, even if he doesn't associate."
Sashi shook her head. "No...he's the one who lives up on the ridge. Basically as far away as he can live and still be considered a member of the village. He makes furniture...that's his contribution. There's a...process. Your chairs and table came from him."
Ahrilon raised his eyebrows. "But our furniture was delivered by Kol and Raler..."
"Delivered, Ahrilon...but not made. You see, when someone needs some new furniture...they go see Kol or Raler. Those two decide how pressing the need is, and then make a list. They include the list with the weekly supply wagon that runs up to Rethin's house. We leave the wagon for him to make use of...there's food and water and other needful things, along with the list. He unpacks the wagon and makes the furniture in exchange. He loads the furniture back onto the wagon, and the next week, we bring him another wagon with supplies and a new list, and take the other wagon back to the village with the new furniture in it. Kol and Raler see to the dispersal of the furniture." Sashi shrugged. "He never comes out of his house when the wagon parties come. Most people think he goes out into the woods when it's time to switch the wagons just to avoid running into anyone."
"The only time we've ever seen him aside from when he needs medicine was the time he was sick." Sashi turned around and Ahrilon noticed Varra sitting at the table, folding the garments that had dried. That last had been her deep voice. "One week, Kol and Raler were a tad angry, I understand, when they came to switch the wagons and no furniture had been loaded up...but when they peered through the windows of Rethin's hut, they saw him sprawled on the floor face down and barely breathing. They broke the door down and sent word to us immediately. That was a long night. "
Sashi nodded and turned her attention back to Ahrilon. "Another day and he would have almost certainly died. He had a terrible pneumonia in his lungs...they were full of liquid and infection. Even after I drained his lungs and forced some herbal concoctions down his throat, I thought he'd still die. I had to drain his lungs twice more before he was through the worst of it."
"Once he woke up, he tried very hard to get us to leave. He said some very odd things in his sleep...and he had this curious habit of dunking his venison in his porridge...something that struck me as another oddity." Varra cocked her head.
"Varra...that's private." Sashi shook her head in return. "We were concerned for him. He did say he wished we'd have merely let him die. After that, we took to watching him now and again. He didn't like that one bit, so to stop it, he agreed to guest at one of the Elders' huts on the waxing half-moon, and the waning half-moon. He was beside himself when I told him he'd have to pick up his medicine instead of having it on the wagon...but I have my standards and I will not compromise them."
"The bottles usually last him a few weeks. He takes the medicine now because that sickness damaged his lungs. Sometimes he has trouble breathing, but Sashi's medicine is top-notch." Varra smiled warmly at her mate.
Sashi rolled her eyes, but Ahrilon could scent the pleasure emanating from her, along with the hint of a blush. "He's...rough around the edges."
Ahrilon went to sit at the table across from Varra, and Sashi joined them, sitting next to her mate. "But...did my scent really bother him that much? I thought...I thought it was okay. I wouldn't have done it if I thought it would upset people..."
"It doesn't upset people Ahrilon, just him." Sashi shrugged. "I suppose we might as well tell you what we know of him. He's been here longer than we have...he's always been sort of an institution. But from what we've gathered over the years, he was about your age and nearly dead when he was found by our pack-mates. The Elders could tell you better, but they won't talk about it."
"In any case, he was almost dead...on the brink of starvation and dehydration. The Ren'Aih at the time..." Varra continued.
"Mother Estrid," Sashi interjected.
Varra nodded. "Yes, mother Estrid actually said his blood was slow in his veins...that it was like soft jelly. She didn't think he'd make it through, but she forced him to drink water. She said it must've been just in time because his blood returned to normal later that night."
"She force-fed him too." Sashi continued. "Made him eat. Once he came to, he wouldn't say where he'd come from, only that he was alone. Mother Estrid said he cried himself to sleep every night...he stayed with her for several months. Every night he cried without fail."
"After some late night conversations, Mother Estrid found out what the source of his pain was." Varra arched her eyebrow. "He left his pack because he couldn't break his bond with his bond-brother. He loved him too deeply. He'd secretly wished and hoped that his bond-brother would follow him, but he never had. I...can't imagine the pain of that. He was ripped apart by it, and now he's little more than anger and pain."
"Varra...you judge too deeply. We know nothing of what he's like when he's alone." Sashi shook her head. "He's never liked other males in this pack. I honestly think he'd try to go without his medicine if Varra and I were male. But on top of that, Ahrilon...I think that the similarities between your situation and his might upset him. Everyone knows how you two left your pack now...that Delyc left and you came after him. He left like Delyc, only his Ahrilon never came after him. He may see you as a...a sort of substitute for his mate, for whom he harbors an immense amount of anger and sorrow. You did what his mate did not. It's not fair and it makes little sense, but that wolf has been through hell and back...honestly he probably still feels like he's in hell."
Ahrilon exhaled softly. Would the same thing have happened to Delyc had he himself not followed? The thought pained him unmercifully. To think that someone could cause a loved one so much anguish and sorrow...no, he would never make Delyc feel that way. He could never be so cruel. "But what about when I take over for you, Sashi? I mean, not that I want to anytime soon, but will he still come get his medicine then?"
Sashi sighed a bit and shook her head. "We'll just have to cross that bridge when we come to it, Ahrilon. Hopefully that won't be for quite some time. Something might change between now and then." She shrugged. "For now, just stay home after High on half-moons. Half-moons are generally when he comes to pick up his medicine."
Ahrilon nodded silently. Suddenly he felt very sorry for the fiery, older white wolf.
Sashi smacked the table with both paws, startling Ahrilon out of his thoughts, and went over to a supply chest. She pulled out a curved needle and thread as well as a large, unadorned piece of soft leather. "Well, now that that's over, let's practice sutures on this. This cross-stitch will work well for quick jobs..."

Later in the evening, Ahrilon and Delyc were both enjoying the venison pies that Delyc had prepared for dinner when an urgent knocking came at the door. The two shared a confused look before Delyc got up to open the door.
Vestin's slight frame filled a good portion of the doorway out in the dark. He was carrying a lantern. "Delyc..." he looked past to see Ahrilon just getting up to greet their guest. "..Ahrilon, you're both needed at the Ren'Aih's hut immediately."
"What's happened?" Delyc's voice had some genuine concern in it, but Ahrilon's heart had leapt into his throat...could something have happened to Sashi or Varra? No...no it had to be something else. It MUST be something else.
"They didn't say. Sashi and Varra didn't. They just said to fetch both of you and bring you there as fast as I could." Vestin shook his head, as much at a loss as anything else.
The two mated males followed Vestin out into the darkness, his lantern unnecessary with the wolves' night vision. But it had become custom to use lanterns so that no one would think you were skulking around for some reason or another. Not all members of the pack had always been completely savory in the past.
Ahrilon's heart was beating quickly, but Delyc reached a paw out to grasp Ahrilon's and he instantly relaxed. Knowing his mate was there helped immensely with regulating his anxiety level. They followed Vestin in silence to the patient entrance of the Ren'Aih's hut.
Vestin opened the door but didn't enter. Light spilled out from several lanterns and a lit fireplace inside.
Ahrilon and Delyc both shared another confused glance before they padded in. Sashi and Varra were both tending a new patient lying on one of the cots. They looked up as the two males entered, and Varra spoke. "Thank goodness you two are here. This man is ill from exhaustion, but he's asked for both of you...by name."
Delyc furrowed his brow and shared another confused glance with his mate before a very familiar scent pierced the miasma of the room. His eyes widened and he let go of Ahrilon's paw as he rushed forward and knelt next to the cot. "Father? Father!" He grasped one of the older wolf's paws.
Ahrilon's breath caught in his throat and he ran forward as well. "Elder Hamman?!" His eyebrows tried to climb past his ears.
The older wolf opened his eyes and smiled weakly up at the both of them. "Ah...boys. I'm so glad I found you. I'm so glad you're okay..."
"But father...father, what are you doing here? Why did you come all this way?" Delyc had tears welling in his eyes as he hugged his surrogate father.
"Why...to see you again...both of you. To make sure you were okay." Hamman smiled gently. "And I might've wanted a little taste of adventure myself. I could hardly leave it to just the young wolves."
"He's very weak from exhaustion. We're doing what we can...he seems tough enough to pull himself out of this." Sashi smiled, her eyes glistening as well.
"And it's just Hamman now. I passed the Elder's Chair on to another." The older wolf was still smiling as Delyc straightened from the hug.
Ahrilon knelt next to his mate at the cot and Hamman smiled up at him. "Your parents are so happy for you, Ahrilon. They wanted you boys to know how much they love you and want only the best for you. I think they might've come along with me if I hadn't told Istil he was the only candidate for the...Elder's Chair." The older wolf looked incredibly tired.
Tears welled in Ahrilon's eyes at the mention of his parents and he smiled back down at the former Elder. "Thank you for telling me, Elder...I mean...Hamman." Ahrilon hugged Hamman as well and then put his arm around Delyc's shoulders. "We've been officially mated now."
Hamman's grin turned even wider as his eyes began to drift shut. "Oh I'm so glad. You two were made for each other. You were...made...for each....made for each...other." With that, Hamman's eyes drifted closed, but he continued to breathe slowly and evenly, apparently asleep.
Sashi smiled warmly. "He's doing well, boys. You can stay here tonight if you want."
Ahrilon and Delyc shared a small glance, holding paws. Delyc placed a hand on his surrogate father's chest before smiling a bit and blinking away his tears. "No, that's okay. We'll head home...but we'll be back first thing in the morning."
Varra smiled. "You'd better be...he'll be hoping to see familiar faces I'm sure."
Ahrilon nodded. "He will." He smiled at Delyc as they stood and showed themselves out.
They padded home in silence...Vestin had left the lantern hanging outside the door for them. When they reached their home, Delyc doused the lantern and hung it on the door post before they hugged each other and stepped inside.

The next morning, Hamman began to stir. Ever since he'd taken on his role in his home pack, he'd been an early riser. He wasn't going anywhere for awhile though...he still felt very weak. He took a deep breath of the clean morning air. Someone had beaten him to wakefulness and cracked one of the windows open. Not enough to make it cold with the fire still going, but enough to air the room out a bit.
He was so glad the boys were okay. Not only that, they were mated! He chuckled to himself...if only things had worked out so well for him and Telnir. He heard the door-knob jiggle and rolled over on his cot, looking up, hoping to see Ahrilon and Delyc in to breakfast with him.
The door opened to silhouette a masculine wolf, obviously much older than Ahrilon and Delyc, though it took Hamman's eyes a few moments to adjust to the bright light streaming in through the door.
"Sashi, what the hell is this? It tastes completely different! You trying to pawn some crap off on me?!"
Hamman froze, his muzzle falling open as he locked eyes with the white wolf's beautiful deep blues. The sound of shattering glass filled the room as the bottle fell from Rethin's paw, the white wolf's muzzle hanging open as well. The sound echoed in Hamman's head even as his voice rose in his throat unbidden to utter a single, quiet word that sounded deafening in his ears. "Telnir..."
Okay, not the End. Again. But you guys probably have at least some idea of where I'm going with this now. And, again...sorry it's been so long. I'm still alive for some reason...feels like it's been ages since I posted a story. I don't know when the next will come out...when I find the inspiration to write it. Sorry, it's kind of a douche answer...but I'd rather tell you guys the truth than make a bunch of promises I fail to keep. Hope you liked it. ^^
