This is the continuation of The Den. I'm looking for someone to edit my work or help with concept development, if anyone wants to provide their input I'd be glad to collaborate. With nothing further to say.. here it is...

In the Arms of the Enemy (Part 1 of 2)

It had been a week since Geran had been accosted by Alain in the stables. Geran was beginning to wonder if the alpha made another move on him if he would strangle the big wolf or succumb to his embrace. A horrid thought, but present nonetheless. The alpha had shown him nothing but kindness and grace and Geran loathed that.

The same ritual held every night, fire and food; the two would sit and gaze at one another without any words. Geran was finally talking to some of the other members of the small community, which made taking his eyes off of the tall ebon wolf a little easier.

"So you plan to stay, then?" A short and somewhat elderly female, who'd introduced herself as Isa, addressed the newcomer.

"If I can find something to do here, my intention is to stay." Geran replied.

Alain looked up intently at Geran, paying him more heed than he had to the other male intentionally since the stables. Quickly he turned and muttered something to Darius, after which, both stood and walked off into the darkness.

*

The alpha and beta had lapped the outside wall of the town.

"You feel for him, don't you?" Darius began.

"I think I do, he's honest and seems motivated... Not to mention..." Alain was cut off by his beta.

"How delicious he is? I get it." Darius joked. "He's also probably half your age."

Alain glared at the beta.

"You once felt that way for me, you know." The beta reminded Alain.

The alpha smiled and clapped Darius on the shoulder, "I did didn't I. What a fool I was in my youth."

"I just didn't know I preferred females back then." The beta finished. Darius had had two cubs five or so years back with his mate Iman, as heartbroken as Alain had been at the time he couldn't be happier to see his life-long friend so satisfied.

"I plan to pursue him," The alpha added, "and I will make him mine."

Darius jostled Alain with a shoulder and laughed. "You should. I always took for granted that you and I remained as close as we have. It's more than time for you to move on."

Darius stopped and looked at the dark visage of the alpha. The silence between the two was so uncomfortable. On instinct the beta leaned in and kissed his old lover.

*

Geran watched as Alain walked back to the camp alone, Darius must have split from him a while back because there was no sign of him. The alpha sat directly beside the Geran and joined into the middle of their discussion.

"We're having a debate." One of the younger wolves announced to his alpha.

"Oh, and what do you feel needs to be debated?" Alain questioned him.

"Geran had asked where we had come from and we retold our history. He seems to think we hadn't the right to come here and occupy the surrounding lands." The small boy announced.

"Is that so?" The alpha looked to Geran for an argument.

"It is." Geran stated flatly.

Alain looked at Geran intently, "We were on the brink of starvation, our lands were being ravaged by the poor weather and a tribe of snow bears had taken a foothold on the only supply of water." The alpha stopped. "We were cut off and dying, it was necessary for our survival."

"You didn't have to be the aggressor. Haven't you heard of harmony, coexistence, peace even?" Geran barked.

"It wasn't like that. We attempted to come to an agreement with the residents of the woodlands and those who were on the plains. The plainsmen were integrated into our tribe and we have a cohesive union in which we compliment one another to this day." Alain cleared his throat as if to emphasize his next point, but before he could make it that far Geran interrupted.

"And the woodlands tribe?"

"They refused to let us settle regardless of where we did it and threatened our safety if we did not leave." Alain exhaled. "We told them we would leave in search of unoccupied territory the following day. We camped for a single night where we are now situated and we suffered for it."

Nobody else spoke, as the rest knew what had become of the woodland inhabitants. "They attacked us that night, killing over a dozen of our tribesmen. We retaliated in the morning while they slept. Poisons and fire adorned our knocked arrows and spearheads. We killed many, but those who chose to flee were spared."

Geran had turned a bright shade of red; he looked as though he hadn't breathed in all the minutes Alain had taken to explain what had happened.

Geran stood, jostling Alain hard. The frustrated and angry grey wolf leapt to his feet and ran towards the unguarded gates of the town. His condition had improved over the last week being fed and sleeping rather soundly, all things considered. He felt faster than ever as the grass dissipated into farmland, it all passed him by quickly.

His desire for revenge hadn't come into his thoughts in the entire week he'd been cooped up in that tiny tent and socializing with what he may consider his fellow tribesmen at night. Alain had done nothing worthy of the fate he was so deserving of. Geran didn't stop until his breath failed him, the woods were still on his right, but he could see the end of the forest up ahead. He panted, his paws grabbing at his burning thighs as if he could rub the pain out.

Without warning Geran felt the newly inhaled air stricken from his burning lungs as if he'd been kicked in the chest by a feral draft-horse. A pair of thick paws grasped his garment at the shoulders, hefting him off the ground effortlessly before slamming him back down. His vision blurred beyond the obscurity night usually granted and his head spun.

His attacker gentled, holding Geran to the grassy land beneath them. "What is wrong with you!?" The alpha barked into Geran's muzzle. "Don't ever disrespect me in front of my tribe again. If you do, you won't be quick to forget the consequences."

Geran squirmed underneath the gentle brute, forcing Alain's paws off of his pinned shoulders. His strength still wasn't nearly enough as the dominant male pinned Geran's wrists against the ground above his head again.

Alain pressed himself tightly against the smaller grey wolf beneath him. "Do you understand me?"

Both were staring intently, one at the other.

The alpha struck first, his hand cupping Geran's swelling wolf-hood through his trousers. Geran sat up, kissing the alpha's muzzle as the beast atop him loosed his death-grip on Geran's shoulders. The alpha's tongue grasped for Geran's, exploring his muzzle for the first time. Geran almost collapsed in on his devout resolve and gave up as the alpha tentatively explored his clothed body with his rough paws. The desire to have his desires fulfilled wasn't enough to stop the disillusionment from setting in; Geran was in no way willing to give in to the desires of the alpha.

The grey wolf pulled himself out from underneath Alain's weight and placed a steady hand on the alpha's chest to deter further advances. "I can't do this." He admitted aloud. "I used to live here," Geran gestured to the woods before them, "before you brought your tribe into our lands."

Alain looked like he was about to reply but he quickly placed his paw across Geran's muzzle and shushed him quietly, pointing with a finger to a gap in the brush to their left. A clever ruse no doubt, to derail the conversation, Geran thought. He brushed the alpha's warning off, along with his paw and stood in the cool night air.

A whirring noise, a rush of air beside Geran's ear followed by the k'thunk of an arrow hitting one of the trees behind made him return to the ground with Alain. The alpha whisper-yelled right into Geran's ear, "You fool, you almost got yourself killed. They now know where we are."

Another arrow landed not ten paces from where they were crouched in the tall grass. "Stay put, I'm heading into the woods." Alain leapt a good six feet from where they were crouched and into the darkened woods, the archers were far too slow to pin his movement down and take aim.

Geran cowered in the tall grass shakily. His life had almost ended tonight, and for what, a small act of defiance? Silence had eaten up the night again; he could no longer see the archers. Minutes of silence passed as he lay still as death.

"Alain?" The call came from the north, in the direction Geran had just come from.

Geran, still huddled in the grass dared not look up. He could tell there were several pairs of foot-paws padding towards him, though. He didn't know how to signal them without yelling "Stop!" The trio of archers reappeared at the opening in the woods. Geran strengthened his resolve, swallowed his fear and began to crawl quickly towards them.

"Alain?" The call rang out again, closer this time. It sounded like Darius, but Geran wasn't entirely sure.

The three small deer had knocked their arrows. Geran was only a few paces away; luckily the archers were fixated on the calls from the north. An arrow was loosed, and a wailing cry echoed across the plains only to be quickly stifled by the second arrow that could only have been the killing blow.

Geran waited for the two who had fired to reach to the stash of arrows they'd piled by the trees before he struck. With a swift blow the small wolf's paw broke the arrow-head off of the opposing buck's weak bow hand and quickly jammed it into the side of his neck.

The thud of the archer's limp body hitting the ground alerted the two who were rearming. They both spun around with arrows in place and faced Geran who was only a few paces away. Both enemies loosed their shots as the grey wolf streaked behind a large oak to his right. Geran stepped out from behind his cover to bravely face the two attackers.

Before Geran had a chance to think about what his next courageous move would entail, the attacker on his left fell to the ground with a thud and rolled to get up as the bowman on his left was hoisted completely off of the ground. As the second buck squirmed against the dark mass of arm that was around his neck a sickening pop was all that filled Geran's ears. The grey wolf closed his eyes for a moment and fell back into the tree. When his blue eyes opened again the body on the mossy floor of the clearing looked as though its head had been torn clean off.

Alain stood, facing the unarmed buck. "Buck must have dropped his bow in the scramble." Geran thought. Though the thought of combat disgusted him, he felt an almost glowing pride in his accomplishment and in the back of his mind, Geran came to the realization that if he had ever believed his fear of Alain was unjustified, glancing at the mangled form on the ground told him he should reconsider.

The alpha's shoulders heaved as he dove forward into his prey. The buck dodged the first blow but the second one glanced off of his skull. The third landed firmly on his chest with an audible crack. The deer staggered back, gasping for breath as he clutched his chest.

A massive stag emerged from the brush behind Alain, followed quickly by an even more intimidating bruin. The small buck Alain had beaten had fallen to the ground and stopped moving, an unfortunately good sign. The dyad advanced--and as daunting as Alain was, both outstripped his mass and height by a great deal to say nothing of how they dwarfed the even smaller Geran.

Geran finally stepped out from behind the giant oak he'd been panting against with forcibly renewed vigour, taking a fighting stance along-side Alain. The two large assailants that had come upon the fight were not pithy, not to be tossed aside like the others had been. Unable to calm his senses and barely able to stand, Geran huffed breathily.

Whether through a miracle of the gods or some other luck, what happened next was serendipitous to say the very least, footpads alighted nearby and instantly the clearing filled with half a dozen of the wolven tribe. The bruin and stag had vanished back into the brush during the commotion.

Geran blinked dizzily and fell to the ground, feeling for the first time a sharp pain in his thigh. His paws ran across his wet trousers, he honestly considered that he may have soiled himself. The metallic tang of the liquid coating his pants hit his nostrils as his hand brushed along the flight of an arrow. His stomach churned out the food he'd consumed earlier in the day and his eyes rolled up into his head. The wolf was floating dizzily, no longer able to feel.

The alpha tore his shirt in two and bent over Geran's limp form as his tribe rushed in around him.

*

When Geran woke the world was black as pitch. Blinking a few times to accommodate his eyes he used his paws to explore the unfamiliar world about him. Soft bedding greeted his paw as he spread his hands out across the bed that was unquestionably not his own.

Torch-light illuminated the outside as hushed voices carried a conversation almost audibly to Geran's ears. The injured wolf sat up against the wooden headpiece and pulled the sheets back to see his leg. His own blood was matted to a white shirt that covered his wound, though he couldn't say he felt it. His paw gently touched his wound, when it didn't hurt he tried to move--finding himself relatively immobile from the waist down he began to panic.

As the torchlight cast shadows in the doorway Geran vaguely heard Alain say his good-nights to Darius and someone else. Geran's chest rose and fell rapidly, he still couldn't move his leg. Alain pushed the heavy wooden door open further, looking shocked to find Geran awake he stared. He was shirtless, his chest muscles rippled with the rise and fall of his breathing. His arms were so thick they seemed naturally strained.

"What did you hear?" The alpha asked.

Geran appraised the alpha completely before realizing he'd even been spoken to. The grey wolf's chest heaved; he was having trouble forming words.

Alain approached him slowly, bringing him back to the present.

"I... I can't move? My legs...?" Geran whimpered.

The alpha's face became less stern as he sat beside the crippled wolf. "You'll be fine in a few hours; the healers gave you something to take away the feeling in your leg while they removed the arrow."

Geran nodded slowly, his head slowly stopped pounding. "How long was I out?"

"Three days." The alpha supplied his answer.

"Now, you need to tell me what you heard." The alpha's icy demeanour had returned in an instant.

"Honestly... Nothing, I heard you say goodnight to Darius and one of the elders." Geran replied slowly, his shoulders slumping.

"Alright." was all Alain had to say, he relaxed again quickly.

"Why?" Geran pried.

"We're leaving this place."

"What do you mean?"

"We're heading south once the ice caps melt and travel becomes safer. The snow-bruin we came across in the woods is of those who removed us forcibly from our own territories. Their tribe is called the Ilk of Shan; they've done nothing but bring war on everything they've come across. I didn't expect them to make it this far south so quickly; it seems nobody is able to resist them for long."

"That was a snow-bear," Geran asked, surprised, "from the poles?"

"It was." The alpha stared at the bricked wall of his home, distracted.

Geran hadn't seen a species like that this far south in his time. Though Geran had heard tales of the snow-bears coming south before none of them were to be considered children's bedtime stories, nightmarish would be the most appropriate way of describing what he'd heard.

"Stay with me tonight?" Geran's need for closeness finally overcame his resistance. It had been almost three years since he'd had anyone share his bed.

"You were ready to tear out my throat earlier..." Alain made to stand, but the injured wolf's paw grasped his forearm.

"Stay, please?" He begged to have the closeness he so desired, and nothing would stop that tonight.

Geran could only wonder where he had been for three days... Had Alain slept in here with him? By the alpha's hesitancy to join Geran, the grey wolf guessed not. Alain stood and walked with some trepidation to the other side of the oversized bed and set the dimly burning torch in a wall-hurricane. The tired alpha climbed under the sheets and sighed as he stretched out momentarily before clinging to his side of the bed.

"You didn't sleep in here with me while I was out did you." Geran hadn't really posed a question, but Alain answered anyways.

"No. I stayed in the floor the first night to make sure you were okay, afterwards I stayed in the guest bed."

"You could have just put me there..." Geran suggested.

Alain turned on his side to face his injured bed-mate, "No, I couldn't." He reassured.

Geran was visibly frustrated.

"What's wrong?" The alpha questioned.

"Other than getting an arrow in me, you mean?" Geran replied stonily.

Alain laughed at his retort, though it wasn't intended to be comedic. "Yes."

"Honestly? I'm waiting for you to do something worthy of the reputation you have in my head and justify my loathing."

Alain's features went slack. "I know you lived through our occupation, but I hardly fabricated what I told you..."

"I know." Geran admitted. "You're a good man, and I hadn't expected that."

Alain reached for the glass decanter and poured out a clear pink tinted liquid that had pieces of what looked like flower petals in it. He passed it to his bed-mate, "Should help you sleep, and keep you numb."

"I want to feel again, though." Geran slid across the bed and placed his paw on the alpha's ebon muzzle, trailing down across his broad, sinuous shoulder with a gentle touch and coming to rest on his straining bicep.

Alain didn't even bother to set the tincture down before his lips collided with Geran's, it simply fell from his paw as his mind became fully occupied in another matter entirely. The wolves entangled themselves in one another despite Geran's handicap. Geran's grey fur fluffed out as the alpha ran his ebon paws across Geran's back and stomach. The grey wolf's muzzle nipped gently on Alain's thigh before hooking his canine onto the alpha's loincloth and tearing it off of him.

Alain yipped with the force of the smaller wolf's teeth on his fur, grinning as his loincloth ripped away and fully revealing his impressive wolfhood. Geran licked along its underside without hesitation, his tongue and nostrils were covered in the distinctly pungent male scent.

Raking his digits through Geran's headfur and along the grey wolf's back, the alpha groaned as Geran's muzzle pleasured him. The intensity that the grey wolf commited himself to was almost more than Alain's loins could bear. Geran bobbed mercilessly against the alpha's unyielding cock, slurping up and down it's length.

"Oh, fuck." Alain grasped the grey wolf's ears and pulled his muzzle up and down at a quickening pace. "I'm.. I'm.." He didn't say another word as Geran's mouth remained affixed to his penis.

As the warm saltly liquid splashed on Geran's eager tongue he swallowed it only to have it replaced by more of the ebon wolf's virile seed.

Alain's arms folded above his head and his mouth was agape with satisfaction. Geran licked himself, cleaning the remnants of Alain's cum from his muzzle. The alpha only basked for a moment longer before he reached a clawed digit down and removed Geran's clothing, freeing his cock from the restraining material. What Alain saw was surprising, and massive. The alpha smiled at Geran while fondling his swollen member. Geran blushed and smiled sheepishly. Alain's cock was about eight inches, but the smaller grey wolf must have been close to half a foot longer and a great deal thicker than the alpha was.

"You're fucking huge!" Alain exclaimed, out of character.

Geran turned a brighter shade of red when the alpha mentioned it.

Alain's paws grasped the base of the enormous pink shaft before him; his mouth was wide with surprise and he was also a little intimidated. Alain slipped the large member into his mouth, his tongue flat against his muzzle. Geran's shaft connected with the back of the alpha's thoat when he was only little more than half-way down the pillar.

Alain found himself wondering what it would be like to be impaled on Geran's oversized puppymaker as he slid his muzzle up and down its gargantuan length lazily awaiting his motivations return.

Geran sat up on instinct, placing a paw under the alpha's muzz and bringing him into a lusty kiss. Geran could taste the sweetness of his own precum on the alpha's tongue. The grey wolf slipped his paw underneath Alain's partially-retreated cock and grasped his balls in his palm.

The alpha gasped with the force of Geran's grip on his empty balls. Alain's tongue lashed out into the grey wolf's muzzle in response to the harshness of his grip, it slackened. Alain leaned back, parting his thighs slightly as the smaller grey wolf forced a digit in between the alpha's cheeks and pushed it gently forward. The alpha wrapped his legs around Geran's waist and pulled himself against the grey wolf's throbbing cock.

"You want me to fuck you?" Geran whispered to Alain in as commanding a tone he could produce. Without waiting for a response Geran pushed Alain onto his side and rolled the big alpha onto his stomach. Positioning his tip at the pink entrance the grey wolf shuddered as he spread Alain.

Alain pushed himself back on the thick wolf-meat without complaint, though it felt like he was being ripped apart. A few minutes of gradually adjusting and Geran's sac rested on Alain's cheeks finally, the alpha was already panting.

The grey wolf began to slowly fuck the male beneath him, his cock slowly dragging along Alain's sensitive prostate. In this moment the dynamic of the tribe didn't affect him, he was mounting his bed-mate, not the alpha-male of the clan. Alain brought his rump up to meet Geran's downward thrusts as they began to create a rhythm.

Geran's paws moved to Alain's hips and brought him up onto all fours without breaking stride. His knot was swollen beyond all reason at the base of his shaft, every thrust brought him closer to tying with the brave charcoal wolf.

His fuse was wearing thin, Geran was panting heavily and losing his rhythm. He desperately wanted to let go and tie with Alain. "I'm going to tie with you." Was all the warning he gave Alain. after that he began to thrust into Alain's rump unabated, his knot spreading the alpha's hole a little more until finally it slipped in. Orgasm quickly overtook the grey wolf, his body wracked with spasms as he came.

Alain gasped again, spurting a second load over the bed before he collapsed to the bed beneath him, bringing a tied Geran down ontop of him with an "oomf". The two lay there silently for a good hour while Geran's knot receded. Alain rolled over quietly as the torch went dark. Geran slipped his arm around the alpha's waist and pulled himself in tight against Alain's back before he drifted off to sleep.
