Nev City: Chapter 2; Flashbacks, Questions and a luming battle.

CHATPER 2
"nice room you have here Ryker" Ben said. He and Ryker were in Ryker's room while silver was sleeping on the bed.
"hey, yours might be nearly as good as mine" Ryker said teasingly he had just met his brother a few hours earlier but felt comfortable around him. Maybe it because of the spots that reminded him of his or like their mom said the spots represent each other.
"what do you mean mine?"
"you really think when you move into this mansion you aren't going to have your own room"
"move in? when?"
"now"
"what?"
"You know mom and dad are married it's only natural for them to live together"
"yea, but we just got reunited today. You really think mom and dad are going to change things so fast, I mean it's a big change." Ben said he sounded a bit concerned
"well, I can tell you 2 things, we are going to be hunted by some nasty people and its safer if you and mom stayed here. And Silver is going to need some support." Ryker pointed to the sleeping wolf
"I guess you're right, it's going to get interesting living a mansion" Ben chuckled
"yea, but Ben I .. don't think I am going to be much help when those assassins come back"
"what you mean Ryker"
"Silver is highly trained and skilled, you have that power everyone seems to be afraid of, Marie I mean mom is trained." Ryker said starting to get depressed it was weighing on him, the events earlier made it clear that silver and Ben were special and he was not. "me and dad aren't some super assassins, we don't have some inhuman super power like you but I still want to help"
"hey who said you can't help"
"I can't fight you know, I never have been able too"
"Hey I can't fight either never won one at school"
"well you still have that power everyone was aweing about earlier"
"it's not something I want, I don't want to unknowingly control people"
"well just like everything else we are going to have to deal with it and by we I mean all of us"
"you're going to make a cool brother you know that Ryker"
"so will you Ben"
"just one question now"
"what is it?"
"who is the oldest?"
"they never told us"
"we should bring it up at dinner"
"yes we should" the two wolves concurred while silver looked like he was starting to wake.
Downstairs in Bruce's office Marie and Bruce were talking things over
"So you lived in the suburbs for 5 years now?" Bruce asked
"yea I can't believe we lived in the same city for so long and neither of us knew"
"I bet it's your fathers doing Marie" Bruce said in a more serious tone
"I wouldn't put it past him, he stopped tracking me after I settled here I thought he had just given up but the more I think about it he may have been trying to lure me here."
"He has something planned for those cubs doesn't he?"
"Bruce he still has Chondro"
"I know"
"I can't believe I let him take those 2 kids from me"
"he got Chondro by outsmarting us both. I wouldn't have expected the doctor to be under his control"
"it's just horrible to think that we had to separate all 4 of them at birth to only save 2 from your father" Bruce started to open the 2nd draw on the left side of his desk.
"Marie remember this?" Bruce asked while holding a photo of a younger Marie with the husky holding 4 babies.
"the last day they were all together"
"we are going to have to tell them at dinner about Chondro"
"yes we are." Marie pouted a bit, she was worried about silver still combatting the effects of 'the drug'.
"well let's get it over with" Bruce said as he walked over to a communicator on the wall and dialed in the code for the one in Ryker's room
"Ryker Wake up silver and you 3 come down to the dining room for dinner."
"ok dad" Ryker replied from the other end
Marie just held the photo in her hand tightly and a single tear ran down her face she knew this was going to be painful.
After talking to his dad Ben and Ryker shook silver awake
"where am i?" silver asked
"in my bed Silver?"
"huh? What?"
"You fell asleep after what happened earlier" Ben chimed in
"ah, my head feels horrible" Silver commented
"well shake it off silver mom and dad are going to explain everything now, so let's head down"
"ok" Silver said as he got up. Ryker motioned for Ben and silver to follow him.
They exited the room and headed down the hall that mimicked that of a museum with lots of ancient oil paintings and pieces of armor. Once they reached the steps silver stopped.
"why you stopping silver?" Ben asked
"I feel kinda nervous, my head is kinda jumbled right now"
"well we understand but I think it would be best for you to hear what mom and dad have to say. I really want to know a few things about our grandpa" Ryker chimed in
"alright lets go then" silver said but his voice hinted that he was depressed about something.
The 3 wolves entered the dining room which looked like a ball room. A huge chandelier in the middle over a table that sat 32 furs easily. The room was decorated with flowers and sitting at the end were the parents.
"Over here kids" Marie said as the cubs walked down to their parents
"food will be here in 5 minutes but I think it is time to explain a few things to you cubs"
"Let me explain Bruce, it think it's better if I tell the story"
"ok"
"First thing you cubs need to know is that you aren't triplets"
"mom what are we then?" Ben asked
"Quadruplets"
"WHAT!? There is a 4th one" Ryker and Ben said together
"Yes 14 years ago I gave birth to 4 boys"
Ryker and Ben looked confused and kept switching their stares between each other and their parents
"The story begins 17 years ago"

A young Marie was just sitting at a table at a local café called LexA, She had just completed another successful mission for her father. She then turned up to see a Silver husky sitting at the table next to her it was Bruce. She blushed as the husky made his way over to her table.
"What's a delicate flower like you doing out this late at night?"
"Just enjoying the late night scene"
"Mind if I join you then?"
"not at all"
"my name is Bruce, Bruce Minefell"
"mine is Marie"
"got a last name Marie"
Marie shuddered
"Cantonole"
"Cantonole?"
"yea it's a strange name I know"
"hey mine is minefell so I think I can relate to weird last names"
"I bet you can" Marie thought 'He must not be from around here or else he would have bolted already'
'she must think I am not from around here since she said her last name to me'
The 2 just chuckled as a limo pulled up and the black wolf inside pointed outside the window and motioned for Marie to join him in the limo
"well that is my dad, I see you around Bruce"
"like wise"
Marie entered the limo as it pulled off
"what do you want pops"
"your only 17 Marie, you shouldn't be out at this hour by yourself"
"as if that's what you came here for, a lecture? Not you dad, what's the job"
"That Husky you just met, your to kill him"
"what?"
"he is the target of a contract. He is supposedly some super genius that is causing a few people problems, take care of him quickly Marie"
"well at least I get an excuse to see him again"
"shall I remind you he is a husky and your target"
"no need to dad"
3 days later Marie met Bruce again but this time at an appliance store
Bruce was dressed in a T shirt and jeans all blue like always but he had something on his back a baseball bat holder as it seemed
"hey Bruce" Marie said approaching Bruce
"Hi Marie, fancy seeing you here"
"Well just came to get a new toaster for my dad's birthday"
"I wouldn't think a member of the cantonole family would need a toaster" Bruce said while giggling
"so you are from around here."
"nope just here for a few days to visit some relatives"
"come here with your parents then?"
"not really I am 18 now so I can travel alone and I did but that didn't stop them from following me"
"sounds like you have some nice parents, better than my dad that's for sure."
"Well he cared enough not pick you up last night so he can't be all bad"
"guess you're right, hey want to get some lunch my treat"
"How about we make it a date and I pick up the bill"
"a date?"
"yes I see that look in your eyes"
Marie just blushed she was beginning to realize something 'this husky , I think I like him but he is my target'
"Follow me I know a nice place it's really close"
"ok" Marie said 'This husky is really cute, but I have to kill him'
'I think I better confront her now, she obviously hasn't realized I completely seen through her' Bruce thought to himself
They walked down the road for about 15 minutes until they reached the beach front. A nice restaurant called The Rose was where they ended up eating lunch it seemed like an expensive restaurant but Marie though this would be perfect for use of poison. It would be perfect since her poison mimics the effects of a natural heart attack. Marie prepared her poison for when the food arrived she just needed to place it in his drink.
The food arrived Marie had order some soup while Bruce ordered a lobster.
"Wow, you really ordered a whole lobster that must have been pricy"
"not really since the entire meal is free"
"free?"
"I own this restaurant, so yes the meal is free"
"wait, you own this place but you're like 17"
"18 actually and this was a gift from my mother for my 5th birthday, she decided it was time I had business to call my own so she bought me this restaurant chain"
"wow you must be loaded then"
"Well I am the son of Travis minefell, the 4th richest man in the world so you could say that"
Marie's jaw dropped into her soup. She knew this assignment was going to draw attention but not this much attention. Marie realized she had to change her approach on this because a heart attack would draw suspicion to her.
"you don't seem like a rich kid Bruce, I mean you're not overly dressed and have a junk of photographers behind you"
"well that's because I got disinherited by my father last year"
"what did you do?"
"I didn't want to be like him and run the family business; I wanted to travel the world inventing. When he heard my decision he was less than pleased about it. After I left I realized that I couldn't support myself so I started writing software programs and it turned into this huge venture for me in about 6 months."
"that's impressive to be so young and yet so talented"
"I have a knack for technology it's something that I wanted to do instead of running my dad's oil company"
"well my dad wants me to take over for him when he retires, unlike you I don't have a choice in the matter"
"you always have a choice Marie, no one can choose your path for you, no matter what your dad can't make you do something that you don't want to do"
"my situation is not like yours Bruce" Marie had forgotten about her mission now she was here talking to this guy who she felt so comfortable around even though they only met last night. She felt safe around him, warm, tingly. She was in love with him
"Marie, I gave up a 50 million trust fund and turned my back on my friends because I wanted my life to be my own not someone else's. you can break away from your dad. You don't have to be the person he wants you to be" Bruce's tone was getting more forceful and Marie was feeling her heart melt at his words
"I.. I.. I"
Bruce held her hand and stoop up as he brought Marie out of her chair and hugged her
"I can see the sadness in you Marie, it's not right for anyone to be as sad as you are"
Marie realized she had let her feelings out around this guy without knowing. He saw right into her heart he saw how sad she was how unhappy she was how unloved she was
Then it happened Marie and Bruce looked into each other's eyes and before either could realize they had entered a passionate kiss. The kiss last a few minutes neither of them wanting to pull away there was something between them a connection that happen. They could read each other's mind at that point and finally broke the kiss
"you were thinking of killing me weren't you" they both whispered in unison then giggled
"I was but.. but something about you, something about you, Bruce I want to be with you"
"Marie, I want to be with you too. I knew you were targeting me last night but when I saw you I didn't see a fearsome assassin that needed to be killed I saw a girl who needs a change in her life"
They both shared another kiss and afterwards they went to Bruce's hotel room and enjoyed a night of love and warmth in each other's comfort.

Bruce and Marie were just returning from a cruise and were at the airport. It was their honeymoon having just been married after 2 years of dating. They had moved to another country after their 5th date since Marie's father was less than pleased that she defaulted on a contract and wouldn't kill Bruce. The person who sent out the contract was mysteriously killed by a swordsman a while after Marie and Bruce started dating. Marie had also told Bruce about her past but Bruce still had a few secrets of his own.
"that was a great honeymoon Dear" Marie said
"Glad you liked it, but it's unfortunate that you had seasickness for most of the trip"
"it was strange I never got seasick before"
"Well red violet shall we go home"
"ok but first I need to pass by a pharmacy and pick something up"
"TAXI"
Unbeknown to the Happy couple someone was watching them from a scope of a sniper rifle
It was Ray, but he was different his left eye had a mark of a shuriken on it and this iris had become shaped like one as well
Ray reached into his jacket pocket and reached for a radio
"They arrived back from the airport sir" Ray said into the radio
"good make sure to keep tabs on them until my powers are ready Ray"
"yes sir"
Ray put the radio back into his pocket and placed the sniper rifle on his back then teleported out
A few minutes later Marie and Bruce were at a pharmacy
"what did you come here to pick up Marie"
"this"
Bruce's jaw was held open when he saw what was in Marie's hand it was a pregnancy test
They went home and Marie used the test
"Bruce, COME HERE"
"what is it Marie"
"it's, it's, positive"
"that means"
"Bruce, we are going to be parents" Marie started to cry as she hugged Bruce
Bruce was speechless. He wasn't expecting kids this early after all he was only 19 at the time.
Meanwhile outside the apartment where Bruce and Marie lived Ray was fumbling around with the radio he was in a frantic panic
"BOSS! BOSS!"
"Ray, why have you disturbed my 'activities'"
"I have news sir"
"what news could be so important that you would disturb me now Ray. This better be worth my time Ray"
"Sir you are going to be a grandfather"
The boss paused
"this changes a lot Ray, I need you do a few things for me."
"yes sir"
"firstly surveillance is no longer top priority, but I need you to identify the doctor Marie goes to and Use the Box on him"
"ok sir"
"I will arrange a shipment of the power drugs"
"the drugs sir? Are you going to use them on the baby sir?"
"yes Ray I am, if all goes well they baby will develop the foreseen ability and also be under my control"
"sir are sure those drugs are still experimental they could kill Marie or harm the baby"
"That is none of your concern Ray. I have tested them sufficiently and they are about to be put to use now project H is about to commence Ray"
"yes sir"
"now go I will be in constant contact"
"aye sir"
In the following months Marie's belly got bigger until the doctor told her she was going to have triplets. Marie was also taking medication and was on some therapy to help her through having the babies or so it was told. Bruce was suspecting something was wrong with the treatment Marie was getting. it wasn't normal for a pregnant woman to be taking some of these drugs so he tried researching them but came up empty.
Then the night came when Marie went into labor and it all went wrong.
A typical fox approached Bruce while he was getting his car Marie just been sent off in an ambulance.
"Bruce!"
"Nico?"
"it's me alright"
"what brings you here Nico, you're the son of my father's dog"
"you know why I am here Bruce. I was trained to protect you and you know that but I am also here as a friend Bruce"
"some friend you are Nico, You're here on my father's orders aren't you"
"no, your father knows nothing of this visit Bruce"
"Nico, this is not a good time you know"
"I know, you're expecting your first kid aren't you"
"yes I am, now excuse me I got an ambulance to chase"
"we will speak again Bruce," with that Nico left Bruce to begin his rush to the hospital but Nico left Bruce a present in the front seat of his car
"My Sword! Why did Nico drop this off? I know Nico too well he wouldn't just drop this off if he didn't think I would need it tonight"
'Something is going down tonight I better get to the hospital'
With that Bruce raced off to the hospital but Ray was tailing him
By time Bruce got to the hospital he was greeted by a nurse and brought to an observation room just as his wife pushed out the 4th baby.
"congratulations sir your wife gave birth to 4 baby boys" a nurse said
"4!" Bruce was stunned 4 baby boys
"yes sir 3 wolves and 1 husky"
"the husky is going to be moved to the extensive care unit soon"
"ok thank you nurse"
"you can come in and see them now"
Bruce left to go see Marie. A photographer came and took a picture of the new family. Then Chondro was taken the intensive care unit for some testing.
"Bruce something is wrong"
"what do you mean"
"those pills that I was taking I asked an old friend to refill them for me last week"
"and?"
"the only way to get them is from a medical facility ran by my father"
"Marie, what does that mean?"
"Bruce those cubs are part of an experiment and I was the test tube"
"Marie, your father would go so low as to use you for an experiment to get those babies? for what exactly?"
"he is trying to make them into my replacement"
"Marie, I should have known something was wrong I should have protect you and babies"
"Bruce my father did everything is his power to get to those babies. We have to take them and go"
"I am afraid you can't leave yet you are in no shape to leave"
Marie got up and started to get dressed despite the doctors warning
"bring my sons to me now!" Bruce ordered the doctor
"here are the 3 of them sir"
"3? My wife gave birth to 4"
"there are only 3 babies here listed under your wife sir a Ryker Minefell Ben Minefell and Silver Minefell"
"there should be a Chondro minefell on there too" Bruce said grabbing hold of the doctor
"there is a baby named Chondro Cantonole"
"CANTONOLE?" Bruce said
"yes"
"MARIE grab the 3 babies We have to go"
Marie and Bruce grabbed the 3 babies and ran out of the hospital against the protest from the staff of the hospital.
They strapped the young babies in the baby seats they had prepared and as soon as they tried to enter the car a bear appeared in front of them it was Ray
"Those babies are the property of your father Marie. You won't be taking them"
Marie didn't have the strength to fight but she was surprised when Bruce went to confront the bear with a Japanese sword in hand.
"those babies are my sons. Your boss has no right to take them"
"we already taken 1, we will be taken the other 3"
"no you won't" Bruce drew his sword out of its sheathe
Ray drew a dagger
"you think you can beat a trained assassin" Ray said as the shuriken shaped left eye began to rotate
"Bruce be careful he can create tornadoes from his left eye"
"I will be Marie, there is something I never told you Marie the real reason my parents disowned me is because I became a hit man"
Marie was surprised to hear this her husband shared her profession
"Hit man! a regular hit man can't compete with a cantonole assassin"
"you keep telling yourself that"
"I don't have too" A small tornado appeared to be forming in front of Ray's eye "I shall Prove it"
The tornado made it ways to Bruce it blew past him with great speed its force began to rock the car Marie and the babies were in. it caused the car to shake uncontrollably
When the tornado subsided there was no trace of Bruce
"ha blown away"
"are you sure about that"
"what!"
Bruce appeared behind Ray with the tip of sword being covered in blood
"what did you.." was Ray had to say before he felt it a slash appeared across his face pouring the blood out. Ray fell to the floor passing out from the force of the slash
"Flash Sword: Impact slash" Bruce said as he sheathed his sword
Bruce quickly ran over to Marie and was surprised at what he saw
"Marie what are you?" Marie leaned out of the car and kissed Bruce
"Bruce, If Ray is here there will be more coming many more I can't fight them but I can run from them. I need you to take Ryker and run. I will take the other 2 and run away"
"Marie what are you saying?"
"Bruce my father is brutal he will come for them but he might let you slip if you only had the one and I had 2"
"your planning on being a decoy so one of the babies can be spared?"
"yes I am but all 3 will survive, and one day I will find you again Bruce but it's best for us to run away separately"
"Marie you're in no shape to be running away with 2 babies. You just gave birth."
"I took a drug that gives me some strength enough to run away. Please Bruce do this so our cubs have a chance to live normally and not be part of my father's experiment"
"Marie"
"Bruce PLEASE"
"ok, I will take Ryker but Marie where are you going to go"
"I will do what I do best be undetectable, Bruce you have to become someone they can't target. I know you don't want to but your parents came protect you from my dad."
"I understand Marie. But please be safe and promise me this"
"what"
"come back to me someday"
"I will Bruce I will"
Marie cried as she kissed her husband one last time.
Marie buckled her seatbelt and drove the car out of hospital parking lot as fast as she could
But then Ray woke up
"RED VIOLET!" he yelled
Then a tornado appeared around him and he used it to fly off and follow Marie completely ignoring Bruce.
"Marie be safe"
Just then a black car pulled up next to Bruce
"get in Bruce" Nico said
Bruce did as he was told he threw his sword in the back seat and sat next to Nico with the baby in his hand
Nico then drove off
"I have an extraction team ready and they will meet us at airport"
"Nico you knew something like this would happen?"
"I suspected it when I heard the amount of activity in the area. Your name was mentioned quite a bit as a person of interest"
"why didn't you warn me then"
"by time I got everything together it was too late"
"they got to one of my sons already"
"I know"
"Marie took the others to be a decoy"
"She did the smart thing Bruce. We need to get you and that boy out of here"
"I wish she didn't have to do this"
Nico and Bruce drove off with Ryker and managed to get to the airport and out of the area quickly but Ryker was worried about Marie and he had every right to be.
Ray had cornered Marie and had already beaten her badly.
He reached into the car and took the baby seat that held the Silver wolf cub
"I will be taking this one to the boss personally"
"No you can't Ray" Marie mumbled she was beaten good by her old partner he had grabbed her straight out of the car and beaten her thoroughly
"you can't stop me Marie, but tell you what you can have this one I think we only need 2 of them"
"no, you can't" Marie was weak, the drug had worn off
"here then" Ray threw the baby into Marie's lap Marie began to cry. a combination of blood and tears fell onto Ben
"Marie I will let you keep that one because I beat you with the help of the drugs your father used on you. Next time we meet I will take that one from you too"
Ray then formed a tornado around himself and then disappeared
Leaving Marie next to building in an alleyway with a 8 hour old baby weak and helpless

"that's the story kids" Marie said
The boys had tears in their eyes they had no idea that any one of them could have been in the others shoes. Then each had begun to develop questions many questions in their heads to try and understand what happened to them.
"so mom," Ben began he didn't know what to say " My real name is Ben Minefell? Not Ben Vague?"
"it's Ben Minefell, vague is fake last name."
"and all those times we moved when I was younger?"
"those were because Ray was tracking me and I had to constantly be moving"
Ben held his head low he never knew the reason why he moved so much as to avoid the fate that befell silver and his other brother Chondro
"So dad you were a swordsman?" Ryker said he was more interested in the fact that his dad was an amazing swordsman than the sad parts of the story
"yes I was. I had the Title of world's strongest swordsman"
"that's amazing dad"
"mom, dad. Why? Why was I ? why was the only one who got captured?" silver said
"because I was so weak silver. Ray overpowered me. He took you as a gift to the boss but he wanted Ben as a trophy. So he wanted to confront me again when I got better"
"Ray chose me to be his lackey?"
"he did. I am so sorry silver you got caught up in something that I couldn't protect you from"
"not your fault mom" Silver said "It's Ray's and next time I see him I am going to put him 6 feet under."
"Ben, Ryker Silver, we just made your grandfather mad he won't be staying silent and he will be coming for us. This is going to be even worse than his first attempt because he will be gunning for all 3 of you. He will also take a huge interest in you Ben he won't stop until he gets you" Bruce said
"Ben. We are going to be staying here from now on. Staying here will allow us to be better prepared to fight. Ray won't be coming alone this time I am sure of that."
"wait we are moving in that quickly?"
"Ben, One of the images you saw was of your house on fire right?" Bruce asked
"yes"
"that's the reason. If you go home you will be in grave danger."
"but what makes here so much safer? Ray just broke in"
"Its safe because I am here" said a fox who had just entered the dining room
"Nico!" Bruce said
"Uncle Nico?! What you doing here?" silver asked
"Cousin Nico?" Ben asked
"cousin Nico? Uncle Nico?" Bruce asked them
"Nico was someone in my neighborhood when I grew up. He always made me call him uncle Nico" silver said "I remember him showing up every once in a while to give me some odd jobs"
"and he was someone who helped me out when we moved to from Tunalla to Greyport, mom this is the guy who helped me get my stolen bag pack back. He said people call him cousin Nico"
"Nico? Care to explain"
"Bruce I tracked down both silver and Ben a long time ago and have been keeping tabs on them"
"you didn't tell me this why?"
"because I knew you would run to meet them and at the time I tracked them down we weren't strong enough. I also found out that The cantonole family had tabs on Marie and on you. If we made a move they would have been on us"
"then what makes this place safe if you didn't have the strength to face the cantonole before" Ben asked
"because we have some support" Nico pointed to outside the dining room assembled there were screens showing around 12 teams of furs of different species all dressed in special forces outfits
"Some of the world's strongest fighters! It took me a long time to gather them all up but now we have the manpower to take the cantonole head on no matter what" Nico said
"Nico how long have you been working on this?" Bruce asked
"since the day you brought home silver. Bruce I told you didn't I that night on the plane I would help you get your family back"
"you did"
"now we only have one more member to find"
Marie came up behind Bruce as he held her close the 3 cubs came out and saw the array of furs that would be protecting them.
"Now all that is left is to find the last one"
Not knowing that Chondro was already on his way to meet his parents
Back at Ray's hideout in the sewers Rob had arrived with a chained husky in tow
"good to see you again Ray"
"Rob!"
The 2 bears greeted each other Rob was the older brother but still looked exactly like his brother.
"is this the husky I heard so much about?"
"yep that's him, the boss's number one dog"
"why did the boss think it was a good idea to use him now?"
"I don't know, The boss has been so unpredictable when it comes to the members of project H"
"like Kevin?"
"yea and those other kids he lets run around with their powers"
"hey! project H is the boss's personal project all we can do is trust him. After all his plans have always been strange but they produce results don't they"
"like us"
"yes the results of the boss's first experiments"
"well the first successful one" the bears laughed at that sentiment
"well let's get ready for tomorrow we have some old friends to visit"
Rob then pulled the chained husky and tied the chain to a pole
"you will be spending the night here and tomorrow you will be facing your mother Chondro"
The husky just groaned. He was resistant to their mind control techniques which meant he couldn't be controlled for long. So for missions they drugged him with a drug to limit his strength and energy. The drug was so efficient that it would grant him back his strength whenever they choose.
As the bears headed over to a table in the base to eat a figure was lurking in the shadows outside. He was completely invisible except for his green eyes
"tomorrow should be interesting" the figure said before closing his eyes and disappearing from sight.
