A Memory
Poetry - not a real story. Didn't get a response on FA so I figured I'd try here and see if it caught anyone's fancy. I'm not really into poetry, but the idea for this one hit me all the sudden and I tried to jot it down before I forgot it. I've been thinking about "furry" poetry lately and wondering what it would look like. This is my attempt!
1
I remember
The bright white light of your eyes
Wide and unblinking
We stared at each other for eternity
Two hunters from Thespiae
Lost between shadow and light
2
I remember
The heat of your breath
Mountain winds carrying the scent
It flattened the sweetgrass
And poured down the glacier
And over your lips
3
I remember
The touch of your wrist
Against my side
Burning our chorus
Silencing the doubts
Softly
4
I remember
At long last how you tipped back your ears
I looked upon you
And touched nirvana
You said your name
But the wind carried it away
5
I remember
My heart grew wings
It flew away to land in your cage
Wrought silver caressed the veins
Flitting inside your breast
Beating against the bars
6
I remember
Arms of smooth amber embracing my neck
The granite shocks tickled my neck
The curve of your elbow
At once, at once, at once
A moment that hasn't yet ended
7
I remember
You pulled me to the dance
You smiled and I fell into your gaze
Silk and honey
You turned away, distracted
The errant dreamer
8
I remember
You, my lover, my lover
Eyes of mercury
Hard as a battleship
Soft as the moon
You turned to me
9
I remember
The caress of your tail along my spine
Panting, urgent, fire
Every claw a warning
Every whisper a warning
Every touch a welcome
10
I remember
Your body
Sensual, nude, pale in the moonlight
Stretched across the silk
A callous Dionysus
Existing in the reflection of my eyes
11
I remember
Reaching for your smooth belly
It rippled like a lake under my paw
The roar of a soft purr
Filled me with desire
I pressed my mouth to yours
12
I remember
The small of your back
Curling, curving, curling, curving
I watched you struggle to contain
The pleasure
We shared
13
I remember it all
Your voice of molten spirits
Your ironed ears and Leo smile
The languorous excitement
As my body met yours
And we slaked our thirst
14
I remember
That I wasn't your first
Or last
But in the moment
United
You were mine
15
I remember
When you left I was asleep
You squirmed free of my grasp
Disappeared into darkness
Only your reflection remained
I didn't know it wasn't real
16
I remember
The note you left
Elegant rivers of ink scrawled across the landscape
I retreated, unbelieving
And crumpled the paper against my palm
My reflection was inadequate now
17
I remember
Everything
