Promise?
A story about the delightful tales of Amaterasu the potty-mouth sailor goddess and Yu Narukami (NOT PERSONA YU, JUST THE SAME NAME!) a sarcastic prick who can't remember ANYTHING! In all seriousness, this is a fanfic of Okami with pretty much no resemblance to the game at all in terms of story, mythos, and stuff. Male Human OCxAmaterasu. I don't own anything.
So this is my first story, so prepare for the suckitude! Anyway, I figured that my profile here was barren so I'd put this story up. It's not complete, and it won't be for a while. Also, this is a fanfic of Okami with a Male OCxAmaterasu. Human male, by the way. I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING!
Chapter 1
"Hey Ammy, what exactly are we doing here again?" asked Issun, the microscopic being of gargantuan annoyance.
"For the millionth time Issun, we're looking for clues to where my next brush technique may be." Replied the white wolf named Amaterasu.
"So what are we doing here in Agata Forest?" asked Issun not understanding the simple logic of looking.
"I've heard rumors that demon activity has been on the rise here at Agata, and where there demons is trouble, and where there is trouble is usually where interesting things happen. So to answer your question Issun, we are here in Agata Forest looking for trouble." Replied Ammy who was searching around the forest, checking everything, leaving no stone left unturned. Finally she noticed something appear on the lake.
"What...is that?...." asked Ammy who was staring at the object in the water.
Suddenly an imp appeared behind Ammy and struck her in back with its sitar. Ammy took the hit right to the torso, bleeding but getting back up from the blow. Just then, more and more imps appeared and circled around Ammy and Issun. Ammy did her best to fight them but for some reason, her brush techniques weren't working.
"You really suck at this don't you furball?" commented Issun who was shaking like a baby hiding in Ammy's fur.
"What's going on with me today? Are these imps different...?" said Ammy panting. When all hope seemed lost, she turned her attention to something walking up on shore of the lake. It's a.....human? Ammy thought to herself. It was a boy around the age of 17 Ammy guessed, brown hair wearing a tunic, brown pants, and what looks like a sword around his waist.
The boy saw the demons and ran towards them, sword drawn. He saw a wolf being attacked by the imps so doing the most-intelligent thing to do at this point and time, the boy slashed through a few imps and ran towards the center to protect the wolf.
"No......get out of here.....it's too dangerous....." Ammy tried to say before blacking out.
The last thing Ammy remembers before passing out was the hint of a smile on the boy's lips.
-A Few hours later (Transition to first person POV for the boy, the main hero and focus of this fic)-
Life sure is random sometimes isn't it? The only thing I remember at all is waking up in the middle of this lake and poof! Demons! Oh and for some reason I feel compelled to risk my life saving some wolf getting attacked by these demons. Not saying I didn't want to help the wolf, I'm just a bit scared why I the thought of doing something so dangerous without a second thought. Hell, maybe I'm a good person?
......Nah.
I glanced over at the wolf, it was resting. I placed the wolf on a soft patch of grass near the lake. I found herbs from the woods that helped to heal wounds and stop the bleeding. Don't ask me how I knew that stuff, they just looked familiar and hey, experiments are fun! Especially on other people and not yourself! In all seriousness, in a little bit I'll check on the wolf but for the time being....
I looked myself over, checking for any indication for an answer to the ultimate question: What the fuck am I doing here? Well, let's see... White skin, brown hair, green shirt, brown pants, random ass sword at my waist, and by looking at the lake water's reflection, I can guess that I have..... red eyes.....
Well, that's a great sign.
So judging by the sword and clothes, and my spontaneous knowledge of swordplay, I'm a swordsman, and apparently a damn good one looking back on how well I dealt with those imps. But how didn't I drown? Unless my body was in the perfect position, I should have sunk right? Eh, who cares? The important thing is that I'm alive, and hopefully my furry friend here is alright too. As for my memories, fuck it. They'll come back when they want too, better to focus on the present right?
A few more hours later and the wolf finally woke up. Immediately it tried to get up and into a fighting position. I chuckled "You know, I'd expect a friendlier hello from the person whose life I saved." This shocked the wolf but not enough for it to drop its guard, which was when I noticed...IT.
"Hey hey hey! Easy Ammy! This guy's not our enemy....right?" replied this...flea like creature.
"Obviously not, why bother treating you if I wanted to harm you?" I said
"Ok, good. Now Ammy please stop growling at the kind man and say hello. I'm Issun, the wandering artist!" replied Issun in a very self-infatuated stance.
"Not to be rude, but... how in the world do you paint?" I asked with the look of a non-believer on my face.
"Science" was all that was said by Issun.
Shaking my head, I looked over at the wolf who was sitting there, looking down at the grass.
"So uh...what's "Ammy" short for Issun?" I asked hoping to determine a gender.
"Amaterasu" replied Issun.
Well, that certainly helped. I looked back towards the wolf that was still in the same exact position as it was before. Well, here goes nothing!
"Hello?" I said towards the wolf. The thought of it not understanding me surprisingly never occurred to me. I waited for a few moments until I realized how stupid I looked and was about to turn back to Issun until I heard a voice.
"....Hello." replied the wolf very shortly looking at me. Judging by the feminine voice it was a girl. I stared at it with wide eyes until finally asking.
"Uh...did I say something wrong? You seem to be very...offended over something."
She looked back down at the grass and said "No."
Convinced me! I thought. "So Ammy, or if you prefer Amaterasu, what are you two doing here?"
Ammy looked to the side "Ammy's fine, and we're traveling to the city. Before you even think of asking; No you can't come with us." Ammy turned away and stared at the lake.
Damn, she read my mind. I looked over at Issun who jumped on top of Ammy's head. "Gee Ammy, your people skills are really amazing, mastery even." Ammy growled at that but Issun continued "As for you...uh..." Oh right, I haven't told them my non-existent name yet! "I'm...." Think of something dammit! "...Yu. Yu Narukami." I told Issun, praying that he'd buy it.
"Well, Yu, Nice to meet you! Now what are you doing out here in the forest?" replied Issun gingerly. I thought about it for a second, Well...I'm sure I can just flat out tell them I can't remember. That would draw suspicion though and that's the last thing I want. I...don't want to be alone. If I don't tell them, they may grow to distrust me making the situation even worse. "To be honest Issun, I don't remember anything really. That name I just told you was completely made up." I lowered my head in a tad bit of shame.
"Well, that's fine. We'll just keep calling you Yu until you remember! Anyway, do you remember anything? Anything at all?"
"Well, I do remember waking up in the middle of the lake." I replied. This made Ammy's ears perk up, like she just started listening to the conversation. "Then I saw you two being attacked and well, I swam as fast as I could to try to help. I had just slain a few of the imps when you two passed out, or at least Ammy did. I really couldn't tell with you Issun" I chuckled "After defeating the rest of the imps, I brought you two over here and that's about it."
Ammy turned to face me. "Do you remember how you got into the water?" she asked like an interrogator.
"No clue, everything I just told you is everything I remember." I replied hastily, confused as to why she was being so short with me. How the fuck does she speak English.....? I wondered Ah fuck it, figure that out later.
Ammy's glare towards me grew even larger as she turned away and puffed. Issun, seeing my incredibly confused face, replied "Well, why don't you come along with us, maybe someone in the city will know you. I'm sure Ammy won't mind so long as you can hold your own in a fight, which you obviously can."
This caused Ammy to bark in anger "What?! What the hell are you thinking you stupid bug!" Issun replied "Ammy, didn't this kind man save your life? I think the least we could do is help him out a little. Besides, He'll help you fight and train. Plus he can socialize with others for our group without freaking them out."
Ammy looked at me again with the same glare she gave Issun, sighed, and said "Fine, he can come, so long as he doesn't mind a little life-threatening danger."
"Life-threatening danger is what makes life fun!" I replied with a grin. Ammy rolled her blue eyes and began to walk. I followed behind her, still confused about her hostility towards me.
If all else fails, at least these two will help me out of this forest. Amaterasu... quite a mouthful huh?
