Drex 1

Drex kicked the blankets off and scrambled for the phone. The loud ring had interrupted one of his favorite dreams involving a mysterious young badger with a talented oral fixation. Admittedly, he was still aroused when he picked up,

"Um... hello?" He mumbled, still attempting to fully awaken from his encounter.

"Drex?... Is this Drex?"

The female voice sounded familiar, but he could not recall who was talking.

"Yeah, give me a minute I'm still coming to." He responded.

What time is it? He thought looking around for the clock. Groping at the edge of the bed he found it.

"9:00am! Jesus!" He moaned.

"What? Oh, the time, yeah it's early, but you said wake you up at any hour so I did."

He still had no idea who she was.

"Look, I was out late last night and it takes me a moment or two to collect myself. Slow down ok?"

He reached for his boxers and began struggling to slip them on without dropping the phone.

"I know you were out late, I was there." She said.

He almost dropped the receiver as the memories of the horny badger were replaced with blurred images of a young vixen and the name "Penelope" escaped his lips.

"Yeah, I'm right here."

"No," he stammered, "I mean... uh... can you hold on a sec?"

He dropped the phone and got his pants on. Oh my God! I gave out my number to a total stranger. How drunk was I? There was no time to recall exactly what happened. It could not have been that bad, after all, he did come home alone that night. But she was calling him first thing in the mourning. She must have been desperate.

"Hello? HELLO???"

The receiver was lying in the sheets, he picked it back up.

"Hi Penelope, sorry, but I had to put some cloths on. Now, what can I do for you on this bright and early Sunday mourning?"

He tied no to sound too sarcastic.

"Well, I was wondering if I left my bag at your place. It's not in my car or the apartment anywhere. Would you mind taking a quick look around your place?"

He had brought her home with him. Suddenly he envisioned wild doggie style on the living room floor as carnal pleasure unleashed its self before him. No, he had not had sex last night; his cloths were in a pile by the bed where he always took them off.

"Hello? Drex... have you found it?"

"Oh, your purse, no, I'm looking for it" He said, stumbling out of the bedroom into the hall.

There it was, on the couch in the living room.

"It's here on the couch. I think it's yours, red right?" It was velvet; he brought it to his muzzle and smelled. Ahh, violets.

"Great, I'll be by to get it in a little while, is that ok?"

"What? Um... sure, I'll be here."

And before he could say good-bye she had hung up.

Shit! What had happened last night? They had met at the club; he was dancing with the other guys when she came up to him. Did they talk all night? She was cute, but a girl? He had not slept with her though. Why had she come over? She obviously drove herself. Wait! He went to the front window and looked out. His car was not there. Obviously, he had been drinking a lot. The keys were on the kitchen table next to his wallet. The confused opossum began pacing as he tried to recall the events of last night. He went to the club and met up with Vince and A.J. his band mates. They were talking about an upcoming gig when the fox had approached him. Penelope, she was a piercer in Noho. Or was she a graduate student? *sigh* He could not remember this chick at all. But they had talked for a while. She liked musicians, didn't everyone? He shook his head, another groupie.

The kitchen was fragrant with curry as Drex finished fixing his breakfast of scrambled tofu. At that moment the bell rang. She was here. He turned down the stove and rushed to the front door.

"Hey, it's good to see you again..." He trailed off.

She brushed her tail back and looked at him with bright teal eyes. Her fur was dark, almost black with only a little hint of red here and there. The dark purple skirt hung loosely around her waist. She was bare-chested with thick white fur groomed down to show off her stomach. He clamped shut his mouth to avoid drooling.

"Hi Drex, thanks for letting me come over so early, sorry for the inconvenience but my cash and ID are in the purse and I have to buy breakfast."

The dark vixen stepped into the living room and picked her purse up off the couch. Her movement was slow and fluid. Her tail brushed his leg as she passed by heading back to the door. It sent him into a tizzy but he held himself still.

"Wait, you hungry? I'm making curry tofu and there's plenty to go around. I'd love it if you would join me for breakfast."

She paused at the door. "Well, I don't want to intrude, I feel so bad for waking you up."

"Don't worry about it, not that you're here, please stay for a meal. After all, you did do me a big favor last night."

She blushed and shook her head, "No, it was nothing, Vince and A.J. would have, but they seemed so wrapped up in each other, I decided I'd volunteer."

"Yeah," He smiled, "Those two do have a thing for each other. They are also very musically talented, that's a definite plus." He closed the door behind her and ushered her into the kitchen as he spoke.

They sat together eating and talking until long after noon. Drex was fascinated with her intelligent conversation and personal views. She was a graduate student, researching the political involvement of anthro youth. Admittedly, Drex was not very invested in anything outside of the local music seen. He had been involved in touring the area with a group in the last elections, but nothing really serious, it was just another gig for him. Penelope was passionate, and as she spoke he was entranced by her. At last she happened to look at her watch and realized she was late to meet a friend. As she stood to go Drex embraced her for a hug, he took in a deep breath of her fur, violets. When she pulled away he stood there in a daze for a moment. She moved to the door he followed close.

"I'm sorry you have to go, but it was great talking with you." He said.

"Perhaps we can do this again some time; I'd love to get to know you more Drex. I'll come to your next show."

"That would be great. I'll call you."

"Sure, but how?" She smiled as he realized he didn't have her number. "I'll call you tonight to exchange info. Maybe we can meet for dinner later this week."

With that she headed to her car. Drex watched until she had driven away. Then he fell against the door and smiled. She liked him, and he her. Maybe this was the start of a beautiful friendship.

As he headed back to the kitchen it hit him...

Shit! How was he going to get his car?
