2013: Year of the Naga - (Illustrated by AlientKnight)
How DOES a naga celebrate the Chinese New Year when it's the Year of the Snake?
Year of the Naga - by Amethystine, with AlientKnightFebruary 10th, 2013: 12:34am.The year of the snake had just begun, and Khrae's large blue frame filled the service door that lead into the back of Amethystine's lab. Or rather, the loading bay.As he peered into the dim interior, he was silhouetted in flashes of multicoloured lights outside. Fireworks exploded, surrounding his outline from where Amethystine sat, waiting and watching the quadruped dragon. The pythonic naga called out to his arriving guest, "What are you waiting for, Khrae? Come in! Here I am! Me and all my 'ssslithery goodnesss', as you put it before."Tucking his wings inward and against his body properly, the drake padded cautiously forward into the dark garage-like space. He had been flirting with the serpent in recent days, but he never thought he would find himself invited over for a late-night interlude. He had been unsure about going there so late, as he had told Amethystine he would be partying with his friends and family up to and around midnight on the evening and night of the 9th. Amethystine was unswayed, he told Khrae to come over whenever he could pull himself away from the party, told him any time would be fine, that he would be up anyway, working on something. He told him he would be waiting. Keeping up the flirty teasing talk the two had settled into, Khrae spoke up as his eyes adjusted to the interior's low light level, finding the place to be clear of obstructions. "Slithery goodness is always so great!" He declared, striding into the room with more confidence, "I envy you."Sitting up a bit straighter upon his throne of coils at the back of the room, Amethystine grinned, replying, "Envy me and my slithery goodness? And I suppose you covet said goodness too?" He smirked, writhing his coils around on the large patch of carpeting he must have laid out on the concrete floor, just for their rendezvous. He made his scales dance and flow, showing off for the dragon."Very much sooooo..!" Khrae cried, nodding emphatically. Seeing the comfortable and sizable rug laid out under and in front of the python, he threw his chest on the ground, bending his forelegs low to bow at the metaphorical and non-existent foot of the coils, absolutely adoring them. "Heheh, arise, my disciple. I'm not slithery god-ness, you don't need to worship me so," said Ame, sliding his tail over to cup under the semi-saurian snout, pulling Khrae's head up, fixing his eyes with his own gaze, peering into the transfixed guest. "If you're so enviousss, though, why don't you become like me? Be a ssserpent, and have othersss pine after your coilsss? It'sss the perfect night to do ssso, don't you think? Ssstart your new year off right. The year of the drake jussst ended, ssso you were well suited to that. But now you need to change to keep up with the timesss, don't you think?""Well.. I'm tempted to accept, but maybe I'm just caught up in the spirit of the holiday," the draconian began, lifting his snout, gazing up at the python to reply with a low, almost inaudible whisper. "I am just trying to figure out what is better for me.. To be a dragon with wings that help me to soar into the sky, or to be a serpent that I so enviously adore." Then, breaking his slightly wooden expression with a cheesy smile, he slowly sat himself up on his haunches. "But at least now I can tend to your coils and feed my fascination with them a little, can't I?" With a grin, the serpent said, "Oh, of course you can, feed away. And you can ssstill be enough of a dragon, to be able to go flying. But that doesn't mean you can't be a snake at the same time. I certainly have the potions to make it happen. But yes, for now, be yourself and admire me." The snake smirked, sliding himself over to his admirer by using his tail on the strong draconic neck to drag some of himself nearer to the large reptile, almost reeling himself in.The dragon seemed to become lost in his thoughts for a moment, pondering about an idea that slowly surfaced from the bottom of his mind's sea. Eventually, he spoke up: "Oooh, I think I might have quite an idea." The smile on his muzzle grew wider as one of his brow arches bent slightly up to emphasize on his great discovery. "Maybe the idea of a draconic, winged slithering serpent would be the best solution of all," he proposed, raising his forepaws to slowly bring his limbs around the girth of the naga's tail, stroking the soft hide of his palm over-top the fine, pliable pavement of pythonic scales. "Isn't that what I just said? In not ssso many words, anyway. But if I wasn't clear, yes, I was thinking about mentioning such a combination myself," explained Amethystine, smiling and twisting his tail against Khrae's foreclaws.Khrae smiled, realizing the convergence of their desires. "Oooh, I can say the great minds do think alike, then!" he exclaimed, wriggling his talons amid soft chuckles, due to the touch of the serpent's smooth scales brushing over his. Leaning down, he rested part of his weight on the constrictor's coil, and slowly unfolded his wings, splaying them over his sides and onto the ground, offering more of his strong, scaled self for exploration by the smaller creature, wanting to feel more of those divinely silky loops upon his own tough hide.Slithering more of himself around the handsome blue beast, Amethystine slid his torso up, climbing over the sturdy scaly back of his sizable friend. His form rubbed against the four-legged dragon's in general, just due to how he moved, his countless scutes grinding, shifting and pulling at the thick blue hide below them, giving Khrae a unique and pleasurable massage of sorts. Once Ame had settled himself against Khrae's upper back, able to lean his head down and nuzzle the back of the giant winged lizard's neck, at the base, he sibilantly spoke up once more, seeing just how much influence he had over his fellow reptile. "Ssso, I know you can do a nice handful of metamorphic thingsss yourssself, but would you be able to achieve a form like that yourssself, or would you need my alchemical asssissstance?""Since I haven't actually mastered the art of transformation spells.. I think having your great alchemical knowledge to give this idea a kick-start would be just great. Of course.. I cannot just make you do this without having some kind of payment, can I?" he asked, turning his snout over, smiling up at the snake. "Pray tell, what could I possibly have that would be worth enough to trade, to purchase such a great service?""Make me do thisss? What makesss you think you're making me do anything, Khrae?" Amethystine inquired, implying that he would give his guest a potion simply because he wanted more nagas in the world. Which was absolutely true! "Besssidesss, you don't need to pay me.. I'll get compensssated in another manner at some point, I'm sure." The python patted the dragon's broad back, slithering up higher on him, able to reach out and rub the top of the length draconic neck, at the base of his skull, around the proud, dark blue headfin. "I'm sure you'll be able to do sssomething nice for me at sssome point." "Now I'm wondering what I could possibly do! But, no matter what it is, I am sure I will be ready and willing." Khrae folded the frills on his neck and cooed very lightly at the massage on his neck, his wings lightly twitching while the dragon's tail thumped about on the carpet behind him. "Ooooh..." he moaned, at the sensations from his sensitive neck, before offering, "Well, you can certainly have a steady supply of my scales for your potion ingredients. I know how surprised you were at what they could do on their own. I saw your mind working at how you could use them in your work, but you were too polite to ask."Suddenly stammering and backpedalling, Amethystine said, "Oh! I-- I wasn't thinking of them, really!" He wasn't used to someone seeing so clearly through his intentions and subtle favours. He calmed himself and massaged the neck below him some more, sliding a few of his coils in around Khrae's belly from below the big blue wings, his scales rubbing in against the saurian's sides. Another few curves of snakebody laid themselves down around the long, fin-tipped tail, snugging in against it while Ame came clean: "Well, I wasssn't thinking of a full on sssupply chain of them. Maybe just a few, once, for a ssstudy on their propertiesss, to sssee how they do what they do." "Ohhh, but I was thinking about that though," Khrae countered, with a chuckle. "And sure, we can start with one scale. Nevertheless, it WILL be the first of possibly many. To be honest, it's not just the prospect of the potion tonight, helping me to more fully capture the spirit of the New Year.. it's also that I want to show you my gratitude and my admiration to you as a great alchemist." The dragon seemed to become more serious for a moment as he went on, "You might have already guessed from how often I get things from your shop, but.. transformation is.. special to me. I mean, it's my.. my biggest turn on. And your products have helped me to experience the kinds of changes I most wanted to achieve, but couldn't on my own. They're affordable, too, but I'd buy them, no matter the cost." Khrae paused to chuckle and added, "And.. you know, it's silly, but I even really like the names and the stuff you write on the labels."As the dragon explained himself, he rumbled pleasantly, every so often cooing at the touch on his belly. It appeared as though, despite it being plated, his belly was one of his weak spots. Twitching his tail as he bared his soul somewhat, he playfully whipped the tip of his tail about, brushing his tail frills against the fine scales of Amethystine's tail. When he finally finished, he relaxed with a low sigh, his forepaws resting off to the sides, gently kneading over the extensive coils. Making sure to 'attack' Khrae's weak spots, Ame kept rubbing his coils around the quadruped's belly all the more. His form around the aquatic dragon's tail moved back and forth between relaxing against it, to snugging tightly, almost constricting the long, flexible appendage. "Well, I'll come clean as well. Aside from rewarding you as one of my best customers and treating you as new friend and simply wanting to see you as a naga-dragon-thing.. I need to tessst thisss formula, plain and simple. So you're my guinea pig. But I doubt you'll mind. In any cassse, whatever might happen later, I need to change you firssst.. so let'sss get this show on the road already."As Ame spoke, the drake closed his eyes and wriggled on the spot, thoroughly giving himself into the comfy coils that brushed against his belly and wrapped around his tail. Before long, though, he could feel said long tapering tail sliding away. Ameth's tail slipped around in front of Khrae's large, pointed snout; it was holding an already open potion bottle. The python kept it steady in front of the dragon's ridged nose, ready to tip it up and over, through the waiting lips, whenever he was ready. "I had my arachnid assistant bring this to me-- you know, Ned, from the shop?-- I told him earlier to bring it around now, from the lab. You must not have heard him arrive. Ssspidersss can be very quiet, after all." When Khrae's nostrils caught a whiff of something unusual, he quickly snapped his eyes open to gaze at the uncorked bottle of potion. Staring down at it, he was caught slightly unawares, unable to concentrate properly on a response to the serpent. "Oh..? I think you're right, I did miss the presence of your assistant... Though I hear owls can be great with their silent flight... too." The dragon's words seemed slurred from how relaxed he was, as well as his discourse becoming half-rambling in his giddy anxious excitement, suddenly faced with the reality of being in Ame's coils, about to take a brand new potion from the apothecary he idolizes.Pushing his tongue out from his muzzle, he carefully reached the tip of the long, narrow, pointed muscle to sneak a taste at the concoction. He had intended only to take the tiniest tidbit of the tantalizing fluid back into his mouth, but his anticipation and excitement got the better of him. He leant forward a bit more and snatched the bottle around its neck, using the stiff scales of the beak-like tip of his snout. Amethystine graciously let go, allowing Khrae to tip his head swiftly back, pouring the potent potion into his maw. "Ooh..! It's quite the cool, refreshing treat!" he rumbled, gently settling the bottle back onto his host's tail, then twisted his neck somewhat around to smile back at the python. "Thank you, Amethystine." The naga half muttered to himself, "Hrm.. no hesssitation, eh? Good to sssee! Essspecially with an experimental elixir.. Anyway! Glad you enjoyed it! I try to make sure my serums don't taste bad.. I try to make them taste good, that is! I mean, if they had to be gross, it'd be a small price to pay for the resssultsss, but I manage to make them at least somewhat palatable, usually. Glad that one was fine."As the snake spoke, Khrae's body seemed to warm up from within, something of a tender glow of warmth radiating out from his belly, where the potion would have been deposited. The relaxed dragon gave a light hum, opening his muzzle just to be ready to reply to the other reptile. But as soon as the delightful warmth surged from his belly to the rest of his form, his words fell silent within his throat, leaving him only rumbling instead.Already, his back legs tingled with an odd sensation. Something akin to twitching muscles or cramps, but strangely sweet and smooth at the same time. The little tremors within his lower limbs grew softer all the time and soon, it felt like a massage from no where, which made his legs more and more relaxed, even with the ever-reducing feeling of twinge and itch still present, but passing. The sweet tingling sensation in his hindlegs made him wriggle them, wiggling his toes a little, experimentally, giggling away at how strangely good it all felt. To actually look at Khrae's legs, they appeared to gracefully compress, his three toes melding together into a new, slender, smooth tip to his leg. The claws softened into further flesh and the joints all faded away until his hind legs seemed like little snake-tails themselves, which slithered their way up and into your pelvis, disappearing. Of course, his hips had all but disappeared by then, too, his lower half becoming more and more streamlined and smooth. All the while, his tail had been gradually growing, his torso lengthening and slimming down, the distinction between his upper half and his lower portions melting away with the spread of that ghostly massage and the slight sensation of dancing, twitching, rearranging and newly created muscles.By the time Khrae moved his snout over to gaze at his hind legs, he was quite surprised to see them gone, amazed at how fast and well the potion worked! It wasn't something he could quite describe -- he could still vaguely feel his legs, but when he tried to move them, it only seemed to slightly twist the thickening tail-body directly below his former hips. Finally regaining his focus, the transforming dragon caught his breath and returned to his former train of thought. "I am thankful that the potions do taste better than I expected. Such sweet treats in your shop. You could have been a candyman, Ame. Sometimes I thought I would buy them for their taste, and the shapeshifting would just be a fun bonus," he laughed."Oh, go on.." chuckled Amethystine."But yes, a horrible taste for a good change wouldn't be such a bad trade after all.." Khrae said, finishing his thought before allowing himself to drift back into his utter fascination for the change. The dragon, or rather, the former dragon, twisted his body around a little to touch his palm on his growing, thickening and lengthening tail-- although he came to realize it was his body proper, his new coily form, more than just a tail. He patted it with a delighted hum of satisfaction. The frills on the tip of his tail bent up somewhat, but were otherwise unaltered by the metamorphosis, ensuring that when he does slither, those delicate membranes wouldn't have to brush on the ground. As the sweet massage moved up to his wings, he curiously watched his membranes, the flexible and thin material that lined his wings. He stared at the section that attached directly to the sides of his body from the first bone-lined supports that run through his large wings. While the enormous aviatory appendages did not shrink in the least, those first membranes suddenly shrank before Khrae's watchful gaze, reduced by quite a large portion, no longer connected all the way from his shoulders to his old draconic waist, which no longer existed. Instead, the linking, stretchy skin ended somewhere at the bottom of his newly streamlined torso.. although the true 'bottom' of said upper body was a bit hard to define given how smooth his form transitioned from his much more humanoid upper 'half' and his sinuous snake-self below. All in all, he was just thankful that his wings were still large enough to carry him up into the air!Having slipped off of the changing creature to watch the progress of the morphing mass, Amethystine held his upper body up, in the midst of his coils, continuing to quietly observe the origin of a new ophidian. The sweet tingling of the transformation then reached his forelegs and paws, which drew a small gasp from him. He had flipped himself over to lay back on the rug and watch his increasing coils, but he found his forelegs changing slightly as the marvelous supernatural massage worked over his fore-limbs. He tore his gaze away from the extending length of his tail to focus intently on witnessing their alterations. The fore-limbs were turning into arms and his forepaws became more like hands, although not entirely refined into delicate manipulators, they remained as rough semi-anthro draconic hands. 'Oh, I could definitely get used to this,' he thought, smiling to himself, wriggling his clawed fingers to test out the newfound dexterity. Meanwhile, his large, thick, barrelled dragon-chest slimmed down into something a bit more slender and serpentine while his neck shortened and became more slender, and his head shrank somewhat. It was as though he wasn't just becoming part snake, but was also becoming anthro. Whether there had been something in the potion to make his drake form semi-human or if it was merely the influence of the naga side of things guiding portions of his body into a more homosapien direction, there would always be a huge helping of his original cool blue dragon self still overriding all the new elements within him. The rough angles of Khrae's body, evidence of his draconic heritage, had softened slightly, making him all the more handsome in the eyes of the naga. Ame found himself drawn forth, wanting to christen the new coily creature with a kiss. So he did just that! The python who gave Khrae that new body was suddenly cupping the draco-naga's snout and kissing the tip of it, enjoying the look and feel of the just-changed muzzle, peering over the increasing smoothness of it. The python also began to curl himself around the new serpentine being, embracing the entirety of the new form. The two of them had become just about the same size, at that point, although the various frills and fins and horns --not to mention the wings-- which remained on Khrae, made him seem larger than Amethystine.Savouring the touch of Ame's hands on his snout, Khrae leaned slightly forward, pressing his face into the snake's hands, cooing quietly, pressing forward so the tip of his muzzle was inches from Ame's. His tongue slowly slipped free from his snout and licked at the python to leave a cool smear of wetness on his cheek, returning some of the gentle affection. "Thank you for letting me share thisss with you, Khrae. You look wonderful," he hissed softly, snugging tightly around his companion in coils, their bodies soon ending up spiralled together, with how they endeavoured to wrap as closely as they could to one another. Smooth pythonic scales rubbed against nearly as soft, semi-saurian and semi-serpentine hybrid hide. Their closer cuddling led them to discover that Khrae was just a touch larger than Amethystine, indeed, on equal footing.. now that neither of them had feet!Relaxing and taking stock, the former dragon thought to himself, imagining that it would take quite a bit of getting used to, having a shorter neck and a much, much longer tail in his possession, but all and all, he loved every single bit of it.Especially the slithery goodness."Oh pff, thank -you- for letting me know how wonderful it iss to be sso different," he said, hissing intermittently. He seemed to hiss a little on his 'S' sounds, similarly to the pure naga, though not quite as much. It was clear from the smile on his newly, slightly blunted snout, that he doesn't mind it at all! Putting his new form to use, the hybrid gingerly and playfully slithered his body throughout the double-helix-like spiralling coil the two had formed, brushing his softer, slightly more textured hide against Amethystine's tail. "Now you've got yoursself a dragon-naga recipe, how interessting to be the firsst one trying thiss brilliant potion out," he remarked, reaching up to Ame's cheek with his hand, caressing along the side of his neck with a genuine and warm smile."You're welcome, Khrae!" Amethystine leaned back from his guest to shout up at the ceiling, exalting expansively: "Happy New Year.. happy Year of the Snake!" He laid his torso back down and snuggled with the new draco-naga. "To you and to me."A smile crept across the serpentine dragon's face as he slowly said, "Happy Year of the Sssnake to uss all, Ame.." As he finished, he trailed off into a chuckle, suddenly stirring the mutual coil pile to sit, then 'stand' up above his constrictor compatriot, spreading and stretching his wings. Ame sat up as well on the re-aligning loops, peering up at Khrae, whom he thought looked intensely regal and benevolent in that moment. That was before his expression shifted and he put his semi-anthro clawed hand on Amethystine's shoulder, his mischievous thoughts surfacing in the look he gave his host. "Tell me, mister alchemist.. if I am a ssuccesssful tesst run, then I asssume you're prepared to now put this potion into mass production?" Giving his guest and guinea pig a curious tilt of the head, Ame slowly nodded. "Yesss, ssso..?" he asked, hesitantly."Oh, I just think I have an idea for a way to.. let'ss ssay.. advertise your latest creation," Khrae clarified, still grinning down at the python. The seated serpent's own sly smile slithered across his snout. "Hm! Tell me more.." bid the boidae, beaming at the blue boy's new apparent assertiveness. Could it be that some cunning cleverness had come with the coils? It certainly seemed so, as Khrae's plan was carefully laid out, much to the delight of the listening lamia, who harkened with a grin.~
(Above art by AlientKnight, to see (and praise!) his posting of this picture, go here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9788979/ ) ~That night, on the evening of the 10th of February, Sunday night, a special 'Chinese New Year dinner' will be hosted by Amethystine and the newly minted draco-naga. All the other regulars from Ame's shop will be invited, and a decent number of them end up being able to come. Khrae will cook traditional meals for all the attendees, which include: Myuphrid, Leuphe (the infamous 'Wafflebird'), a wolf named CW, Procene, Kalisster Ssin (a yuan-ti of the python variety), Typhin, Keika, a rat named Matthias, SkieFire, Fenchurch, Alazahell, a mysterious 'Mister F. Us', a dragon with the initials of M.T.T., Kobura, Edward Nashton, Scarlet, Sovandar, FourStar, a rooster named T.L.Chicken, and a little green guy named Leafy, among others.Amethystine will provide the drinks. At first, everything will be fun and festive. The second round of drinks will make things even more fun for the guests, as well as make the many chairs in the room unnecessary. It will be around this time that everyone will really appreciate the spirit of the holiday and the Year of the Snake all the more. Some will already be in the spirit already, and only encourage others when the shift in the party's mood comes along. Some will be reluctant, but eventually be swayed to see the supreme pleasure in celebrating such an ancient and amazing tradition. The food will be fantastic, and the dessert will be eaten so fast that you might say the guests swallowed it in one gulp. After an intense and almost viral 'word of mouth' advertising campaign that will spawn from that dinner, the extra strength, year-long lasting personal hybrid Naga TF potions will be a dynamite hit, selling out most batches that will be produced during that year. One last up-swing in sales of shorter-term snake TF serums at the end of the year and the beginning of 2014 will be attributed to a 'one last hurrah' mentality. All thanks to Khrae! :}===<3
